As we walked down the winding staircase Sabrina stayed behind me by a few stairs. "Did you think that because it's pouring like hell outside your training's postponed?" Sabrina asked. Looking back at her and said there's still a ton I need to learn about controlling my power. Upon entering the dining hall Azrealle and Launa were waiting patiently by the table. Before I ventured any further into the room both women waved hello then approached.

"I'm surprised that you didn't come down sooner, Nova since we've been here a while." Launa replied. Rubbing the back of my head in embarrassment I looked up at the muscular feline warrior. "Sorry, Launa I got a little caught up in writing in the log book that you gave to me. When I woke up this morning and saw the weather, writing sounded like good." I replied. Launa's head perked up, upon hearing my explanation for not coming down sooner.

"I'm guessing Sabrina pulled you away while you were in the middle of writing?" Azzy asked. I told the raven that it wasn't a big deal and I could finish the entry later after training. "I commend your dedication Nova but, keeping an accurate record is just as important. We can wait to begin today's training until you've finished your entry, okay." Launa smiled. Arguing with Launa is waste of time and energy when you consider her renowned reputation.

Doing as my friend and magic mentor asked as I walked back towards the staircase. To resume writing in my log book before starting my magic training with Launa and Azzy. Granted Sabrina preferred that I get my training underway instead of wasting time with my diary. Ignoring her I took my time leaving the room and walked upstairs to my bedroom. After entering the room I sat down on the bed then picked up the book to resume writing.

(One year and six months ago)

Two weeks have passed since the events with Vincent and Henry transpired. Despite their attempts Gina and I have only grown closer, I even found a job. Today marks our sixth month anniversary and to some it's not much of milestone. In my personal opinion it's still worth doing something special for the occasion. While Gina was working thus giving me plenty of time to make tonight truly special.

I arranged a nice dinner at a classy restaurant and some evening entertainment. Now it wouldn't be anything intimate we'd probably end up cuddling on my couch. More than likely I'll leave the rest of night's events completely up to Gina's desires. Considering I'm happy as a clam just being able to be with such a wonderful woman. As the day went on I made the reservations then went to the barber get groomed.

Afterwards I purchased some decent dress clothes for later on this evening. The next thing on my list was to purchase a couple of very thoughtful gifts. By the time I returned home to wash up, I noticed Sadie's car parked by the curb. I inspected the empty car before walking up the staircase towards the door. That's when I noticed it was ajar, now I haven't gotten around to giving Gina a key.

Relying on my instincts I reached for my fold away knife inside my pocket. With a quick flick of the wrist I extended the blade then pushed the door open. Entering my home silently keeping my senses on alert for any sort of nasty surprise. When I passed the living room doorway everything around me suddenly went black. As I finally came around and saw, Vincent lying unconscious on the ground nearby.

Upon trying to stand Gina burst into the room, retractable baton at the ready. Rising to my knees this metallic clank filled the air, followed by this searing pain. Taking a deep breath I fought back the pain and stood up then checked on Vincent. "Gina, you can relax he's not dead just taking a long nap at the moment. Oh, not to freak you out anymore there's blood on the floor and before you ask it's mine." I stated.

When I looked at her, she was already on the phone talking with a 911 dispatcher. Walking over to the small hutch and grabbed a rag out from one of the drawers. Applying steady pressure to the wound on the back of my skull, Vincent groaned. Sure enough he was slowly coming around as the EMT's and a police officer arrived. "Hey, Gina mind telling me what happened here or don't bother?" The officer asked.

"Dennis, you of all people can guess what happened between these two. Sorry my friend but, I'll deal with him later I'm going with Nova to the hospital." She replied. The EMT's loaded me onto the stretcher then brought me out to the ambulance. While Dennis carefully processed the crime scene he discovered something odd. Four gashes going from the puddle of blood on the floor towards a drowsy Vincent.

Leaving the seasoned cop confused as he tried to figure out what made them. Dennis knelt down, traced a finger along one of the gashes it felt like a blade did it. To make things worse they were deep and never reached Vincent's position. Before he could speculate about this mystery any further he finally came around. "Well, Detective mind sharing your side on what really happened here?" Dennis asked.

Vincent paused for a second to gathered his wits before he began speaking. When he started talking about what occurred, Dennis stopped him mid statement. Dennis knew that Vincent was lying instead he read him his rights and cuffed him. From there he placed him in the back of his squad car then drove back to headquarters. After placing a very angry Vincent into a jail cell then Dennis drove to the hospital.

By the time he arrived we just exited the building with thirteen new stitches. Pulling out his cell phone then asked me if he could take photos of my wound. When he finished Dennis offered us a ride to a secure location for the time being. Before I could give him a response, Gina accepted the offer then looked at me. Knowing better than to argue with her we climbed into the back seat of the squad car.

"I'm going to take you two to my family's farm where you two can hideout. Knowing your father Gina he's been released from his time out in the holding cell. I'll bet you that he's waiting back at your apartment itching for a second round." He stated. As he drove onto the nearest highway on-ramp, a dispatcher came on the radio. They asked Dennis for his location then ordered him to return to headquarters.

Right away we knew something was fishy upon receiving such an order. Dennis wisely asked the dispatcher the true reason behind his orders to return. She told him that it was upon Detective Vincent's adamant request they come back. He told her that Vincent was detained for B&E + assault with a deadly weapon. That's when he came over the radio demanding that Dennis do as he was ordered.

At that moment Dennis leaned over then flicked the off switch on the CB radio. He retrieved his phone from his pocket, dialed a number then waited patiently. Who ever Dennis called must've been important from the way he talked to them. "Sorry, guys we're driving up to the State Trooper Department instead." He informed. He continued driving north then took the next off-ramp and entered another city.

Sure enough as the cruiser pulled into the parking lot Vincent was waiting. Once Dennis parked his vehicle he told us to stay put while he dealt with her father. The doors locked as he exited the vehicle then he cautiously walked towards him. Neither us expected Dennis to un-holster his firearm then aimed it at Vincent. He gave Vincent very specific instructions to get back into his truck and return home.

Naturally he refused like we predicted but, not when he drew his own weapon. Without warning this siren blared, distracting Vincent long enough to be tackled. Once he was cuffed and escorted inside, Dennis drove us back to my place. Looking over at Gina I saw the disappointed expression about what happened today. "Looks like our anniversary has been a wash out, huh, Gina?" I asked squeezing her hand.

"Hmm, I believe that it's only been delayed until we get back to your home." Gina replied. Sadly Dennis wasn't in any rush to get back to the station to file his report. After dropping us off, we walked inside my home to inspect the damage from earlier. When I saw the gashes in the wooden floor for myself, I was confused as well. Though the second I call my landlord and tell him about this he's gonna have kittens.

Debating about calling him I entered the parlor and joined Gina on the couch. Looking at the clock checking the time I asked Gina if she still wanted to go out. She lifted up her head smiled, stood up then went upstairs to make ourselves presentable. Before we left I gave the restaurant a quick call and explained that we'd be late. Surprisingly the manager understood our situation and held our table until we arrived.

With that settled I hung up then called for a cab pick to us up at my apartment. The cab arrived about ten minutes later, we hopped in and drove to the restaurant. I paid the driver and walked inside where the hostess escorted us to our table. When our waiter appeared we ordered and after he left I remembered something. Sneakingly reaching into my pant's pocket then I pulled out a small jewelry box.

The instant she was distracted I extend my arm and placed it in front of her. As she turned back around and saw the box on the table she started tearing up. Gina picked the box off the table then opened it revealing the lovely gold ring inside. It was a 14k gold ring with three yellow topaz and emerald green gems for leaves. Crying now she stood up, walked over then she wrapped her arms around my neck.

She loved it beyond words but, admitted that she didn't get me anything. I told Gina that she gave me the best gift somebody like me could ever desire. Certainly making her feel less guilty about it, as the waiter delivered our meals. While we ate we didn't say much to each other in the way of verbal conversation. My heart swelled as she couldn't keep still after receiving my little anniversary gift.

After dinner and a wonderful dessert I paid our bill we quietly left the restaurant. "Okay, I hate to ask Gina do you want to call a cab or walk back to my place?" I asked. She simply hooked her arm around my elbow as we walked down the street. Resting her head on my shoulder we took our time going back to my apartment. We took one of the many routes I use to go home and got some unwanted attention.

Walking past a recently closed down distribution center for a local market. Something about the air felt wrong so we hurried along just to be on the safe side. Three streets later we passed by an alley then a pair of strange men appeared suddenly. Wisely we ignored them and continued walking down the street until more appeared. Not liking the situation I whispered into Gina's ear telling her to retrieve her cell phone.

"Nova, I can't explain it but, my cell phone doesn't have reception in this area." She replied. Her tone of voice told me she was scared and I wasn't gonna let anything happen. Playing it safe I asked them what they wanted but, it didn't get us anywhere. Naturally I changed tactics and that seemed to get the ball rolling for now. I told them if I'd give them all I had on my person, if let us leave without a problem.

That granted us some leeway with them, I told Gina to go ahead of me and get help. Keeping my word I reached for my wallet while watching the group carefully. Allowing Gina to go unharmed until I went to open my wallet when she screamed. Not wasting anytime I rushed to her rescue the two goons behind me attacked. Fighting to break free, three more goons showed up and beat the fight right out me.

From there they dragged me where the rest of the gang had Gina cornered. When the two guys restraining me at the time saw this and loved what was happening. Sadly they didn't enjoy it for long as they hit the ground hard then I ran towards her. Another member cut me off then sucker punched me with a pair of brass knuckles. Dazed from the sudden blow, Gina tried everything to get me to shake it off.

That's when the gang leader arrived and pulled out a double edge bowie knife. With a sick smile he ordered the others to make me watch as he grabbed Gina's throat. At this moment, time seemed to stand still as his blade sank deep into her chest. Twisting the knife before torturously pulling the blade out then tossed her aside. Crying out her name while the leader enjoyed licking all of her blood off his blade.

While the rest of group happily mocked all of my pathetic cries to reach her. What these thugs didn't know was something ancient was about to be unleashed. They reveled in their handiwork this strange immense power surged to the surface. As the energy reached a breaking point an explosive yet, violent roar erupted. Before anyone could organize themselves the large guy holding me was the first to fall.

Screaming out in pain as his backside was ruptured by a series of long spikes. My eyes glazed over, my head flinched up then his body became this red mist. Rising to my feet this massive shockwave of energy rippled throughout the alley. Tears are streaming down my muzzle while my eyes burned with purple flames. I instantly set my raged filled sights squarely on the gang's clearly frightened leader.

Quickly he ordered his posse to stop me before I could gain anymore ground. The spikes that appeared began to swishing around much just like a sea anemone. When the gang members found their nerve they rushed me and were stopped cold. Suddenly they began hollering in pain while holding their throats with their hands. Their screams reached this deafening volume as their life force was slowly drained away.

A police cruiser happened to be driving by as the horrific scene unfolded. Without warning another shockwave of energy erupted making the ground quake. The officers were smart enough not to get out, instead they quickly sped off. At the same time the goon's screams had died down since their life force was gone. Releasing another intense roar which reduced their withered husks to nothingness.

The energy kept growing at an alarming rate while my focus hadn't wavered. As I approached the one responsible for her death he began pleading for mercy. My glowing eyes got brighter then a huge blast of air scattered tons of debris. Walking over to Gina's lifeless body I knelt down and picked her up into my arms. Holding her close to my chest, the gang leader wisely took off towards the street.

Sadly he didn't get far as one of the tendrils whipped out snatching his ankle. Glaring over my shoulder then dragged him mercilessly back to where I stood. Thinking fast he pulled out his knife, rolled over then sat up and stabbed the tendril. The sudden attack fueled my rage and caused the steel blade to shatter violently. Before he tried anything else I placed Gina's body back down then clutched his throat.

Next I lifted him effortlessly above my head and unleashed another roar. While the energy continued to swell and increase my body began to transform. My muscles bulged with new strength and size to help regulate the still increasing energy. The surrounding area began sparking and crackling with this strange new power. As for the gang leader he actually resumed begging for me to show a little mercy.

Upon hearing this, I snarled fiercely silencing him then with my free hand. Extending these sharp retractable claws then I stabbed him hard into the ribcage. Both my hands suddenly caught fire causing him writhe pain then yanked them apart. My left hand held his physical body and in my other hand was his actual soul. Next I carelessly threw his lifeless corpse onto the ground with little regard for it.

As I held his meager soul in my hand I condensed it into this small sphere. Next I consumed it and the influx of power causing my sanity too be stretched painfully. Unable to fight this new presence, I quickly shielded myself from this persona. Not wasting anytime It teleported us far away and appeared in this abandoned city. Due to the lethal levels of radiation there were zero signs of life that existed here.

Since the radiation might proved a problem It decided to address the issue. Lifting up a hand this strange device appeared and began to absorb all the radiation. Once every trace radiation was contained within the device, it flew into the air. Next this transparent green light began to covering the entire city like a large shield. From there It decided to study my body and that's when everything faded to darkness.

(Six months later)

Four thousand kilometers west in the bustling city of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Launa Viander, her friends Sabrina and Azrealle got home from a long journey. Sabrina was the first of the trio to sit down on the large expensive leather couch. When Launa and Azzy went to join her without warning they both collapsed. Azzy was able to recover quickly but, Launa took longer to get back on her feet.

"What the hell was that all about?" Sabrina asked as Launa steadied herself. Azzy wasn't sure and told the super werewolf that she didn't know what happened. As for Launa she somehow gained a rough idea of what made them collapse. Despite Launa's vast assortment of powers and skills she couldn't pinpoint its location. Regardless of what she knew, this power mustn't fall into the hands of her enemies.

"Look girls I know we're extremely drained from our recent venture abroad but,"/"Launa, you better not be suggesting what I think you're going to be?" Sabrina interrupted. Azzy grabbed the canine's shoulder and finished what Launa was trying to say. Naturally the super werewolf wasn't thrilled about the change of events but, got up. Instead of leaving right away Launa cooked everyone a nice large and hearty dinner.

The large meal and dessert quelled Sabrina's grumpiness for the time being. Seeing as the unknown awaited the trio, Launa had her friends to prepare accordingly. While Azzy and Sabrina went their rooms Launa washed the dishes first. Once they were put away Launa went to her room to grab whatever gear she needed. As Azzy continued packing she felt this strange sensation but, couldn't explain it.

(Present Day)

With that last sentence I placed my pen down then returned to the dining room. Granted doing this annoyed Sabrina I still have a ton to learn about controlling my powers. Considering there are plenty of effective ways to get a rise out of that female super were. Of course if I had to select a truly worthy target it would have to be none other than Launa. To pull that off without taking Launa's reputation into account than you're in serious trouble.

When I entered the dinning room Launa was shocked that I came back so suddenly. "I hate to admit it but, Sabrina's right I shouldn't be wasting time writing in my journal. When getting my unique powers under control is a higher priority than anything else. Considering nobody wants the flips side to my rather strange coin to be unleashed again." I stated. Launa smiled, gave Azzy a nod and the raven grabbed the books she brought along.

To be continued.
