Dane left the kitchen with a tray of tea, the faded sunlight barely reflecting off of the glass as he made his way toward Typh, who looked to him from a book with a soft smile. The only thing he could hear was the sound of Typh's rocking chair moving back and forth steadily. It had been several long years since the inn was filled with any real sound aside from their voices. Bioz and Shad had gotten older and moved out while Fox and Eliza took on dangerous missions elsewhere. Slash had taken Rina off to the mountains to learn to survive while Suicune chose stay in Johto for a while, a few short days. Still, despite the silence, Typh and Dane shared some of the most peaceful days of their lives and managed to enjoy them just as much as the days before them with nothing holding back the passion they shared for each other.

"One cup of tea, comin' right up...!" Dane slid his way from the counter to Typh's side, sitting next to her in the large rocking chair and pulling the table a little closer.

Typh smiled wide as she looked down to the tray of a single cup of tea, letting the book hang in a single paw as she reached out.

"Be careful, it's hot," Dane showed Typh a somewhat forced smile, taking the book from her before giving her the tea. Time had really taken a toll on her senses, and even more on her ability to produce flames and withstand heat. Cooking food for her had become a constant, painful reminder for him.

"Mmm..." Typh eagerly passed her book onto Dane, who marked her stopping point with a slip of paper before setting it down on the tray. "It smells delicious, Dane..."

Dane watched with a soft smile as Typh licked her lips once, then again, bending forward as she took a sip of the sweet, strawberry tea. He knew that her sense of taste and smell had become dull, but there was something she could always smell, her favorite fruit. Even if she couldn't...he knew she'd always tell him how great everything smelled.

"Only the best for my love..."

Typh rocked back and forth gently with Dane sitting along for the ride, sipping her tea every now and then with a soft, content smile. She leaned into Dane's side and he wrapped an arm around her, gently holding her waist. She wanted to return the gesture, but she didn't have enough strength in one of her paws to hold onto the cup...so she gave Dane the very best that she could.

There was a long silence, the chair's rocking slowing down before it suddenly stopped. The cup fell through Typh's paws and into her lap before shattering against the ground, spilling the remnants of her strawberry tea below her. Almost immediately, Dane's eyes widened, looking up to Typh's expression, her eyes closed with a soft, content smile painted on her face.

Dane's heart sank before he gripped Typh's side a little tighter, "T-Typh...!?"

The silence continued coupled with a stillness of everything around them before Typh's eyes slowly opened up. She looked down to Dane with a continued soft smile, looking down at her wet legs before returning to Dane's eyes.

"Hm? Is everything alright?" She continued to smile despite the face of her lover getting blurry and her body getting weaker. "Oh dear," Typh looked down into her lap, "I've spilled your delicious tea..."

Dane kept his gaze on Typh's face, her pupils were starting to grow grey. "D-don't worry about it..." he closed his eyes tight and hard, his heart pounding hard against his chest. "I'll go fix you some more, wait here..."

His last two words were stressed. He didn't want to get up. He didn't want to fix more tea. He didn't want her to leave.

Just as Dane started to pick himself up, Typh's small, trembling paws found their way into his hands. He looked over, his eyes watering ,his teeth trembling.

"Actually...would you mind reading to me instead? I'm on the last chapter..." Typh smiled, stroking the palm of Dane's hand gently, but instead of smiling back, he started to frown...but only for a moment.

"A-alright..." A tear finally fell from Dane's eye, rolling down his cheek followed by another, then another. He couldn't stop himself, but he didn't try, reaching forward to grab Typh's book. He opened it to the final chapter and once he started reading, the rocking of the chair continued.

Typh purred softly, closing her eyes and gently kicking her legs as she leaned into Dane. She could barely make out any of his words past his sniffles...but that was just fine. There was nothing quite like the sound of Dane's voice for her...

"The...end..." Dane sniffled loud, tears streamed down his face and he raised up an arm to wipe his eyes. He did his best to quiet down his crying, barely managing to do so in order to hear Typh's voice.

"What a lovely tale..." She leaned over, kissing Dane on the side of the forehead. "Thank you, Dane..."

Dane didn't respond, closing the book and handing it over to Typh, who held it tight to her chest, crossing her arms over it. She stopped rocking after a moment and looked over to Dane, then directly in front of them to the hallway to their room. She could see the orange of the setting sun in the distance fading to black, taking a slow, deep breath before breathing out.

"For everything."
