When best friends Vinnie and Angela go to her boyfriend's vampire rave party in New Orleans, Vinnie realizes he's bitten off more than he can chew when he becomes the receiving end of a vampire's lustful advances with unexpected results

"Hunger"

"Oh, come on, this is ridiculous." Vinnie groaned as he was tugged into the costume shop. "Angie, come on!"

Angela Byres had long dark hair and a cheery smile on her face as she dragged Vinnie into the store, dragging him through each of the aisles trying to find the perfect outfits to wear to the party this weekend. Vinnie was an outgoing guy, but even he thought it was silly to take a weekend trip almost two hundred miles away for some stupid costume party. He grunted as she shoved a dark colored suit and flowing cape into his arms. "Here, go try this on!" She batted her eyes at him. Evan's gonna freeeeak out when we show up at the party!"

"What am I? The interviewer or the vampire?" Vinnie asked staring at the garb.

"It's a vamp rave, silly." She said as she disappeared behind the rack. "Vampire enthusiasts from all over will be there for some sex, bites and rock and roll."

"Okay, nobody uses that phrase anymore, Angie. That whole saying died in like the seventies."

"Oh quit being a party pooper, Vin. You need this, you haven't been with a girl in months, where better to go hook up with one than New Orleans?" She asked.

"I can think of at least twenty places." He answered snidely. "Besides it's not like we're going "together". I mean, I love the whole Asian girl thing but, I mean you're like my sister. A sister I'd be going to a very raunchy party with, it just doesn't really drive me. Y'know?"

"Oh I understand that, but the difference between you and a hermit is a social life. So you're going." She grinned as she stepped out with a long black dress, dotted with shiny stones. She held it over her slender body and tossed her hair back. "What do you think?"

"You're going to be a pretty trampy vampy." Vinnie said without skipping a beat. He laughed as her expression changed to shock, then she playfully punched him on the shoulder.

The drive started at about four o'clock, which meant it would be about seven before they got to New Orleans and the party started at eight. Vinnie had volunteered to take Angela, but hadn't counted on her bringing two of her friends and one of their boyfriends along. The air conditioning in the jeep had cut out about twenty minutes into the journey, and in the summery afternoon, even with it cooling down it became pretty hot with five people in the car. Three hours and a gas stop later, they found themselves locked in by the traffic pouring into the Louisiana town. The sun had recently gone down, but Vinnie's fingers were sweating against the cooling leather around his steering wheel while the other passengers brought out more vampire lore than he thought even existed.

"So, did you know that Vampires could really turn into bats?" One of the other girls named Kate asked with a stern nod. "It's true. Except, they weren't like... real bats. They were more like werebats, and if one of them bit you, you'd become a werebat and not a vampire."

"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." Vinnie said with a scoff. "Werebats? Vampires? You guys are crazy."

"Don't knock it, Vinnie" The guy behind him said knocking his seat. Vinnie couldn't tell he thought his name was Jake. "You're in the car with vamp lovers, we could bite you and bury you in the woods."

"Mmhmm, I'm just sick of all this vampire talk." Vinnie sighed. "It's all I've had to listen to for hours."

"Don't worry, Vin. Once we get there you won't have to be in some closed space with us, okay?"

"Yeah, I'll just be at a party with hundreds of you." Vinnie said, then passed her a wink. "I think I can live with that."

Valet parking greeted the jeep at the front door, after gathering their things and separating Vinnie from his car, they were led into a building where they could change clothes. Vinnie had a standard tuxedo with a red bowtie tucked under the white shirt. A leopard skin vest was barely concealed by a sharp red V that made up the length of the jacket. On his back he had a black cape that fell just barely past his butt, it was red on the inside matching the color of the stripe along his jacket. Donning a pair of fake vampire teeth that stuck to his real ones, Vinnie took a soft white masquerade mask and slipped out the back of the room into a great ballroom.

Hundreds of people had shown up to this event, varieties of the masks and costumes filled the place up, but Vin had never gotten so many thumbs up of approvals from so many strangers before. It took a bit for him to find Angela in the mess, but his jaw nearly hit the floor when he did.

The gown she wore didn't look like the same one from the costume shop earlier. The lights shimmered across the stones that streaked down the majority of the black dress. Her hair was up, revealing a good deal of her neck and it was tied in a neat red ribbon that draped out over her hair. There was a cut in her dress that revealed some of her leg and she wore a pair of dark high heels. As she turned to him she smiled at him from under a glittery purple mask. "See something you like?" She asked.

"Ah...gah... yeah. Wow, Angie you look amazing."

Angela smiled a bit. "Mmm thank you my dear." She said, running a finger along the red that led up toward his neck. "You look quite dashing yourself!" She poured on a thick accent and smiled.

Just then, a girl caught Vinnie's eye. She was leaning over the bar, sitting on the stool and leaning forward waving a bill at the bartender. She was in what looked like a white pantsuit with flared out cuffs and white platform shoes. Her eyeshadow was a glittering pink and her blond hair was short and just past her shoulders. "Well, hello Barbie." He said.

Vinnie was a sucker for a good looking blond. From what it looked like, she'd had a few drinks and was probably one of the hottest girls at the party that he'd seen so far. He walked up behind her and slapped his hand down on the bar. "Hey, let me get a gin and tonic, and what is it you'd like young lady?"

The girl scoffed at him a bit. "No, thank you." She said as she glanced at him from head to foot. "I'd do the Count on Sesame Street before having anything to do with you."

Vinnie felt his teeth drag along his bottom lip a bit. "Hey, there's no need to be cold. I'm not even really with this crowd..."

"'scuse me." She said as she slid from the counter and started toward the crowd, disappearing into the room just as quickly as she'd appeared.

"What a bitch." He clicked his tongue and turned around, only to see a young boy standing behind him that made his heart jump. "FFFFFUCK!" He screamed, but thankfully nobody took notice.

"Beware the moon." The boy said.

"What?" Vinnie said, crouching down to the boy's mouth.

"Beware the moon." He repeated.

"Look, kid. I don't know who you are, but let's try to get your mom and dad, alright?" He looked up and shouted to some of the patrons around. "Hey! Anybody know who this kid's parents are?"

"What kid?" One of the costumers asked.

"What do you mean, what kid? This one right--" His voice trailed off, the child had vanished from where he was standing. "...what in the hell?"

"Hey!"

"AHHH!" Vinnie screamed as Angela came up behind him. "Holy shit, Angie. What are you trying to do give me a heart attack?"

"What're you doing? What happened with that blond bimbo you were trying to talk to."

"We had a difference of opinion. Where's your boyfriend, isn't he here?"

"I haven't found him yet." She explained. "He said if I didn't find him by nine that he'd meet me on the dance floor."

"Well you've got about twenty minutes to wait I think. But I'll keep an eye out for Evan for you."

"Thanks." Angela smiled and patted him on the shoulder.

Angela's hand trembled a bit as she let go and he took it. "Are you okay? What's this all about?"

"It-it's nothing." She said. "I'm just a little cold in here, that's all."

Vinnie didn't want to believe that, to him it was extremely hot in the room. He frowned. "Look, let's just see if we can get you..." A sudden slap on the back of his head made him bite on his lip. "OWW! Fuck!" He shouted as he turned angrily around to see the blond girl standing behind him.

"Oh! I see, I won't give you the time of day, but you turn around and pick up the next trampy vampy that comes along!"

"What the fuck is your problem!?" He shouted. "She's a friend of mine you psycho!" He winced and ran his finger along his bottom lip, finding that he was bleeding. "Ow, ow, ow."

"Oh wow." Angela said, leaning in to examine the cut. "Here, let's go get that cleaned up right away."

Angela pushed Vinnie and the pair of them made their way through the party together. The pain in his lip was beginning to take hold and he could feel it throbbing, he didn't know he'd bitten himself so hard, he assumed the irritation toward the other girl had taken over the pain he felt. They rushed past the crowd, and Vinnie could feel drops of blood dripping onto his clothes. "Aw man, this is a rental." He said in a muffled voice trying to catch the blood from his exposed lip as best as he can.

"Come on, just a few steps more, we can get you to the bathroom and get that cleaned up." Angela said assuringly as they made their way up. Vinnie felt dizzy, the staircase moved in a spiral, but he was sure it was more the blood loss than anything else. He must have torn his lip apart pretty badly.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Angela walked him hurriedly over toward the bathroom and didn't pay much attention to the men walking out of it as she rushed him in. "Okay. Let me get this cleaned up." Vinnie said as he walked over toward the sink. He was bleeding pretty badly, but not as much as he thought. It had dribbled down his chin and when he looked close, he could definitely see a gash where his teeth had ripped the skin. Glancing up he paused, then looked around to see Angela standing next to the door. He turned back and saw no one was standing behind him. "A-Angie... I can't see your reflection." He said. "I can't see your reflection, but you're standing right there, I don't understa--" He turned around only to find Angela standing less than a foot from him, she grabbed his shoulders with her hands and stared up at him. Her hips pressed against his as her fingers glided down his arms, down toward his hips along his torso. There was something freakishly hot about this as she stared at him with her dark eyes, a coy smile on that face of hers. He had forgotten about the reflection, her stare was almost hypnotic as she pulled him down toward her and kissed him.

Angela's tongue slithered into Vinnie's mouth and wrestled with his own. He shivered and inhaled sharply, all of a sudden becoming quite aroused by this. The pain in his lip numbed a bit and he then realized that she was now running her tongue along his face, lapping up the blood he'd been draining. He finally managed to push her away as she whispered. "Kiss me..." But her lips didn't move.

"Angie... I, uhh... I think we need to try and get you some help here." He said as he watched her pupils dilate and her eyes begin to fill with a crimson red color that crawled out from the center. The pupils then contracted and left behind a dark red color. She ran her hands along his chest, then she dug harder and Vinnie could hear the fabric of his suit now tearing from her claws. "Angie! Stop this!" He cried out as she suddenly began to sprout a layer of fur along her face.

It was horrific to watch, first her shoulders popped out and a sudden bulge on her back caused the back of her dress to shred apart. Her teeth now looked sharper than before as her face began to contort and shrink slightly, a large pair of bat ears broke through her skin as a layer of brown fur now began to overtake her hair. Her body flexed and bulged some as she pressed her weight into Vinnie's lap. She hissed and shivered as she nearly completely lost her gown to the growth. She still had a woman's form, but she was covered in an ash brown fur, and her gown now barely clung to her body as she screamed loudly and raked her claws down Vinnie's chest.

"AHHH!" Vinnie cried out as he grabbed Angela by the wrists. She screeched, trying to wrestle with him to get at the blood he was now dripping. "Angie! Get ahold of yourself! This isn't you!" He cried as they both turned along the edge of the sink and then fell to the floor. First Angela pinned Vinnie down from the top, then Vinnie rolled and landed on top of her. Using an incredible strength, she kicked him and sent him flying through the bathroom door into a screaming party.

As everyone scattered, Angela targeted Vinnie and tackled him again. They wrestled at the edge of the staircase. Vinnie was being overpowered by Angela's strong arms and she seemed to be growing stronger by the second.

"Holy shit!" One of the group that had come in Vinnie's van stopped to take a picture.

"Man! Don't just stand there! Help me!" Vinnie shouted.

Jake smiled and shrugged. "Sorry dude, she's one of us." He said as he disappeared. Looking up toward the skylight, he saw a bright full moon outside shining down into the party room, and screams of humans being attacked by real vampires could be heard throughout the place.

"Angie, listen to me! You're not even a real vampire! You have to stop this! Why would you want to hurt me!?" He cried. "Angie, please!"

Angie paused and looked up from her attack victim. "N-no what have I done?" She asked. She looked down and then ripped Vinnie's suit open, revealing deep gashes in his chest. She frowned as her body began to revert back to its normal state. "Oh, Vinnie! Vinnie I'm so sorry! I couldn't... I couldn't control myself."

"What?"

"She hadn't taken her medicine." A familiar voice had Vinnie turn to see the boy from earlier walking up to them. "Am I right, Angela?"

"Master..." Angela whimpered as she groveled at the boy. "Please, forgive me."

The boy looked at Vinnie. "The bats are a difficult problem to master." He said. "They require a regular intake of blood like we do, or they lose control at the very sight of it. On the night of a full moon, their scratches can infect people into becoming bat creatures as well."

Vinnie looked down at himself, the scratches that had been clearly visible moments before were beginning to vanish. He frowned and looked at him. "What... what can I do?"

"Angela is only a half breed." The boy said. "You can pray that the healing is all you will experience. But she can no longer live in your world. She can not see you again."

"You're Evan, aren't you?"

The boy didn't answer him directly, but then looked at Angela. "Give him the choice." He said, dropping two packets of a red substance in her hands. "But he is your spawn, your child should he choose to follow you. He can never be human again."

Slowly, Angela got up and watched as Evan walked way, slowly disappearing on his way down the stairs. She gasped in surprise as she felt Vinnie's arms wrap around her. His face was already changing, his eyes now glowing red and sharp fangs beginning to protrude from his mouth. He nuzzled Angela lovingly. "I am... I'm ready." He said.

"Are you sure?" She asked. "Are you really ready for this?"

Not speaking, Vinnie took the packet from her, placed it between his teeth and bit down on it, letting the blood spew and flood down his throat. His stomach growled as the insatiable hunger struck him and he drained the entire package. Angela looked at hers and did the same, draining it and discarding the package beside the one he'd dropped. Silently, the two locked hands and as they made their way down the stairs, their bodies continued to morph.Vinnie's fur becoming gray in color, his snout larger and more pronounced, protruding fangs slipped further from his mouth than Angela's had. By the time they had made their way to the entrance of the house, they looked upon each other completely naked. "Come, my love." He said. "Let us go into the night, and never return. Besides..." He smiled. "That party was pretty lousy."
