The Transcend
Sethkill finds himself in a fathomless void where sheets of expensive white paper blow around, spinning past him in circles. He reaches out and grabs one as it passes, holding it hard against the invisible storms that batter at him and tug against the paper, rippling the words thereon and trying to tear it from his hands.
He grabs another and another, desperately.
The pages seem, as far as he can tell in his haste, to be the unbound leaves of a book he does not know, pages all unnumbered, but the words leap out at him and seem familiar. He cannot even read the words, let alone recognise the symbols that grow together to form them, but somehow he understands the meaning, and if he could just get even two of the pages together in sequential order, he might be able to make sense of it all.
He loses his grip and the pages spin away back into the void, just as he realises that the story is his own.
Out of the endless depths and furthest black reaches of the void, something gathers itself to speak to him, intangible beyond all measure.
