Adelind's POV

I woke the next morning to the light coming in the window. I gently nuzzled Tyro awake.

"Good morning my love,I said softly,did you sleep okay"

Tyro smiled and licked me just below my eye.

"I didn't have another nightmare,so that's good."

Tyro rarely had nightmares,but when he did have them,they were horrible. Often,he would wake up with screams when he had them.

"Are you going to be okay",I asked softly. "It was just a dream Adelind,he replied,like you said,none of it's going to happen."

I lay my head on his paws and he placed his head on mine. His heartbeat entered my body and my heart began to follow his. I loved it when it happened,I don't know why I did,I just did. "

Well good morning you two,Shadow said appearing with Nina at our door.

"You going to be okay Tyro,Nina asked,were all here for you."

"Thank's Nina,Tyro said,but I'll be fine,it was just a dream."

"You guys wanna come watch the game?"

"What game,i asked.

"Hunter and the Anthros are going to play a game against Hudson and the humans,Shadow said,It sounds interesting."

"Oh yeah,Tyro said standing.

I woke the kids and we all walked down to the main field. It was full of activity. Hudson,Hunter and the others were gathered at the far end of the field. They all wearing sleeveless shirts and brown shorts.

"Hey man,Syratlh said,come to watch the action?"

"Heck yeah",Tyro said.

"well then get over here,the fun's about to start."

Syralth led us to the end of the field. There were two posts,with string nets attached to them. Tyro and I lay down at the edge of the felid and the kids sat on their haunches with wide,interested eyes.

"Okay anthros,Hudson said smugly,the object of this game,is to take this ball,Hudson said holding up a bright orange ball,from the other team and get it into their basket,thus earning you a point." If we get it into yours,we earn a point,first team to twenty wins."

Hudson explained the rest of the rules,gave Hunter and the anthros a few demonstrations and the game started. Instantly,Syralth made a basket.

"Hell yeah",Hunter said.

"Don't get cocky,Hudson said smiling,there's still 19 points to go."

For being nearly 80 years old,Hudson moved extremely quick,out maneuvering the Anthros and scoring a point for his team.

"Told you,Hudson said,just cause I'm 78 don't mean I can't move."

Everyone laughed at Hudson's remark and the game continued. Ace and our kids were cheering Hunter and their friends on.

"Win it for us Hunter,Ace yelled,teach the humans a lesson!"

The game went on. Hudson and the humans were tough foes. For being humans,they were extremely fast,often out maneuvering Hunter and his team. As the game went on,Hunter and his team had 12 of twenty,while Hudson and his team had 18. They were all red in the face and sweating in the ninety degree heat. Even though we were siting on the sidelines,Tyro and I were panting from the heat,as well as Sozenn,and our cubs.

"Is this summer,Hunter asked taking his shirt off,or still the end of winter?"

"No shit",Hudson said wiping the sweat from his forehead.

They continued to play. Hunter and the Anthro's stepped up their game,determined not to lose to humans. They all gave their all,but Hudson and the humans won out.

"AHH,Hunter groaned,lost to humans!"

Hudson laughed,"Yeah but you gave us a poor time at winning man."

"I honestly didn't think Hudson would win",Tyro said turning to me.

After a bit of talking,Hunter,Hudson and the others went to the gun range. Tyro and I went to the ring.

"I'm gonna spar with Sozenn,Tyro said licking me,but your welcome to stay and watch."

I lay down as Tyro and Sozenn went at it. They started by taking stances at the edge of the ring. They looked at each other,snarled and hissed,and then Tyro attacked. He charged Sozenn,who with a flap of his large wings,sent himself just above Tyro's head. Tyro rammed his head into Sozenn's abdomen,knocking the breath out of him and sending him to the ground. Sozenn recovered quickly,lunging at Tyro's neck with his jaws wide open. Tyro ment Sozenn with another headbutt,the sound of their diamond hard skulls crashing together echoed like a gunshot and put a light ring in my ears.

"Aren't you worried?" Nina's voice came from beside me,"They look like they are ready to rip each other apart."

"They won't,I said in reply,Tyro and Sozenn have gone at it since they were cubs,they stop if it gets too dangerous."

Tyro,seeing his chance,took it. Pinning Sozenn to the,he brought his paw down,simulating snapping Sozenn's neck.

"I win,he said letting Sozenn up.

Sozenn groaned,"I'll win one of these days."

Tyro laughed and then joined me and Nina.

"Nina,Tyro said surprised,didn't expect to see you here."

"I got bored hanging around our room,she said,Shadow's got the egg."He'd be out with me,but he can't stand the heat."

"Can't say that I can blame him,Tyro said panting from the heat,the scales on his cheeks taking on a dark red tint Shadow is a whole lot of Arctic,they don't take the heat very well."

"Arctic,Nina asked,what does that mean?"

Tyro explained to Nina that Shadow was a cross breed between Arctic and Volcano.

"Interesting,Nina said.

After a bit more talking,Tyro,Nina and I walked to the mess hall. We got something to eat,from there we went to the wash room,and then back to the barracks. As the day went on,it cooled to around sixty degrees. I enjoyed the colder temperatures,I didn't know why,just from being a Mountain Dragon I geuss. When we entered our room,we lay beside each other.

"Wow,Tyro said,I'm tired,but work hard play hard."

"Yeah,i said huffing and laying my head beside his.

"You still sore?"

"A little,I said,but it's never lasted more than a week."

I placed my head on Tyro's paws. He nuzzled me,and placed his head over mine.

"When are you going to get out,I asked,my voice beginning to trail off.

"I don't know,Tyro huffed,Wei told me I could leave whenever I wanted and that he would keep his promise to burn all he had on me,but..."

"You'll figure it out,I said yawning.

"You have the cutest yawn,Tyro said,it's like an angel.

I laughed,"You always did know how to talk to a female."

"You know I love you,Tyro said licking my snout.

"And you know that I love you",I said burring myself underneath him.

The heat from the fire that burned within him warmed me to my core. The strong,steady beat of his heart made my entire body follow it's rhythm. I closed my eyes and just listened to it. How was I this lucky? Tyro was the kind of mate that everyone wanted. Whenever I would talk to my friends about him when I was growing up,they would call me lucky to have found one so early. The night we met,I never would have considered that he and I would become mates after traveling the world together. He was about as majestic as it gets. I was drifting off when Shadow's voice echoed over our PMS.

"ADELIND,TYRO,COME QUICK!"

Tyro and I jumped up and ran to Shadow's room.

"What's wrong,Tyro asked.

"Look",shadow said quietly,motioning to the egg. I saw it move.

"Ow wow,Tyro said,it's hatching!"

The egg cracked and a chunk fell free.

"Holy crap,Nina said,it's really hatching!"

Another chunk fell free,then another,the egg gave way,revealing a black dragon,with white wings and blue markings. It had two,backward pointing horns and two,upwards ones going down the length of it's muzzle.

"This...was one of ours,Nina said turning to Shadow with wide eyes,it had to be."

"It's not possible,Shadow replied staring at his newborn cub,none of our eggs were tan."

They stared at the hatchling,their eyes full of confusion.

"What is it,Shadow finally asked.

"It's a boy,Nina said.

"I'm a father,Shadow cried,I'M A FATHER!"

Tyro and I could not remove our gaze from the hatchling. We'd never seen an egg hatch,on account of me giving live birth,rather than laying eggs. That cub breaking free of it's egg was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen.

Shadow licked Nina,"If this was ours,then we did a damn good job."

Shadow and Nina shifted their gaze back to the cub,his tiny body moving with each breath he took.

"What should we name him",Nina asked turning to Shadow.

Shadow's face lit up.

"Taro",he said.

"I love it,Nina said,it's a great name."

It was cute to watch Taro try to explore his surroundings. He coludn't get traction on the metal floor and kept slipping. He was persistent though,he kept on trying to stand and walk. As he was falling a second time,Shadow slid his muzzle under him and caught him. Taro put his forelegs on his father's snout and tried to climb up,realizing he wasn't going to,he locked his gaze with Shadow.

"I'm you Dad little guy",Shadow said softly.

Taro continued to stare at his father before letting out a yawn,curling up and going to sleep. Shadow put him between his paws and stared at him.

"Congratulations guys,Tyro said smiling,he's beautiful."

Kayel,who'd been hiding behind my leg without me noticing,peeked out at Taro.

"Go on,I said,he won't bite...hard."

I moved the leg she'd been hiding behind and she fearfully began to approach Taro,who looked at her with his small,bright green eyes. They then began to play,becoming friends without realizing it. Tyro and I lay down in front of Shadow and Nina. We then began to talk about our experiences with Ace when we became parents. Shadow and Nina listened closely as Tyro and I talked. I didn't stay in the conversation for long because Taro and Kayel had begun to play with my tail. I joined in. Sweeping my tail back and fourth as they pounced on it and tried to hold it still with their small paws.

"Shadow,Tyro said,there is no doubt in my mind that egg was yours."

Shadow smiled. "At least,his smile faded away and he began to cry as Nina pulled him close,we got one."

Tyro pulled me in,I could see a single tear run down his cheeks. After a few ,ore minutes,Tyro picked up Kayel and we went back to our room. We put Kayel on her bed and crashed into ours.

"I'm happy for them,I said.

"I am too,Tyro said,Taro is beautiful."

Tyro looked at me,his bright green eyes glowing in the dark.

"I love you",he said nuzzling me.

"I love you too",I said as I trailed off.
