continued from "A Solution Prepared...'

By the time the sun was setting, both Soho and Pasqual were getting twitchy, knowing that the time was coming soon when they would test the potion. Soho was obviously nervous, for every few minutes, she would reread the potion recipe, ticking off ingredients and steps, and the fact that she was so nervous rubbed off on Pasqual and he became increasingly agitated as well. Ever since they had finished eating, they had tried to distract themselves from what was coming by chatting, talking about this and that, but they had soon found themselves unable to continue their usual banter, the strain was just too much. Pasqual had considered trying to go and find his ruined clothes out in the woods, but he decided against it, since the glade where he had fallen asleep was one he hadn't been to before. He didn't know where it was and he didn't know how long it would take to find it again. So instead, he and Soho had sat around in silence, trying to ignore the rising tension. Finally, when the sky had just started to turn yellow, Pasqual had taken to pacing again, though he expanded his walking route this time. He walked from the window to the wall, then to the table, then back to the window.

But now, the sun was setting at last and the time was almost upon them. Finally, when the sun was almost set, Soho stood from the table where she had been fidgeting quietly and walked into the room where the potion sat. Pasqual took a deep steadying breath and followed her, knowing that the time had come. One way or the other, it would be over soon. When he entered the room with the caldron, he found Soho stirring the mixture once more, a tankard on the table nearby.

"Well, it looks like the book described." She commented, her confident tone obviously forced. "Are you ready?"

"As I'll ever be." He replied, beginning to tremble. Soho nodded and carefully picked up the tankard, holding it next to the rim of the caldron and then tipping it over so it the potion contained therein would flow into the mug. The golden liquid flowed slowly into the mug until the caldron was empty. Apparently, while it had sat and simmered, it had lost some of its water, reducing and concentrating it. Once the caldron was empty, Soho held the mug out to him. Taking the large mug, he looked inside and paused, not wanting to start. Finally he looked up at Soho and spoke. "Whatever happens, I wanted to thank you for everything. You have been my best friend for years and sometimes I have felt that you were the only thing I liked about my life. So, thank you." Soho smiled at him and he lifted the mug to his lips, tipping it back, letting the golden fluid flow into his mouth.

To his surprise, though it was quite fragrant, the potion had no taste that he could discern. Its texture was silky, and yet it seemed to stick, coating his tongue and throat. The moment the first drop reached his stomach, the potion went suddenly cold, as if it were liquid ice. And, with every drop he drank, the cold spread further and further out in his body, freezing him from within. And, wherever the cold spread, a frigid, mind numbing ache began to throb within him, like a brain freeze, but all over. It was all Pasqual could do to continue to swallow. And then, when the tankard was empty, the potion took effect fully. He instantly felt a tingling sensation spread over his whole body. And, in its wake, he felt...Nothing. Nothing at all, as if those parts of his body had ceased to exist.

The moment the numbness spread throughout his body, he felt the disconcerting sensation of his body going rigid, though he could not actually feel his muscles becoming tense. Pasqual saw Soho coming close to him, a worried look on her face. Her lips were moving, and Pasqual knew he should have been able to hear her speaking, but he could hear nothing. The world had gone wholly silent.

Moments later, a strange light, the same color the potion had been, began to fill his gaze. It started as a dim glow, reflecting off of every surface, but it was glowing steadily brighter. Soon, the caldron was glowing as if it were made of polished gold and not dull pewter. But Pasqual's attention was not on the suddenly bright furnishings of the room. Instead, his attention was focused wholly on his morph companion, for, as pretty as she had been before, she was far more stunning now. Her russet fur was now glowing like the embers of a fire, and her white highlights had kindled like golden flame, though the black fur on her arms and legs were growing to be an ever more dark shade of sable, standing out in stark relief to the brightening room. The glowing panda reached out towards him, but, before she reached him, his muscles gave a mighty twitch and she cringed backward as if a she had been bitten, her hands clutching at her stomach. Her mouth opened as if she were crying out in pain, but Pasqual could hear nothing and even as radiant as she was now, she was fading into the light that was filling the room.

The sight of Soho in pain stabbed deep into Pasqual's heart, and he longed to reach out to her, to do anything at all, but he stood frozen, unable to move, unable to speak, unable to do anything. Things seemed to be slowing as he watched and the light brightened, for Soho was now staggering back, her motions burned into his mind as her bright fur faded into the background. He could see her black fur moving as she stumbled, and then she was falling, but the light grew so bright that it blocked out everything in the room, leaving only brilliant gold for him to see, and then, that too was fading into darkness. He opened his mouth in a silent scream, his mind fading away, screaming a single word, 'Soho!!'...

***

Pasqual came back to himself out of the darkness that had claimed him slowly, realizing that he was not, in fact, dead as he had supposed. Which meant that Soho was not dead either. And, it was that thought, more than his own survival, that brought warmth back into his heart. He opened his eyes a tiny crack, afraid for a moment that the golden light that had so filled the room was still there, but it wasn't. The room was lit with only the pale moonlight streaming in through the window. For a moment, Pasqual found nothing odd about this, and then it hit him. The restless energy that had so filled him when the moon rose was gone. It had not come, and because he was still alive, the potion must have worked. A smile came to him suddenly and he opened his eyes wide. He raised his head off the floorboards where he was sprawled, spread-eagled. Soho wasn't in the room, which made his smile fade slightly. Pushing himself into a sitting position, he found the tankard he had drunk out of laying on the ground beside him, the caldron hanging over the ashes of the fire was still where it had been when he had drunk the potion it had contained. Rising slowly to his feet, he got a surprise. Though the energy had not come back, his body was still in its new human shape. And, with a single breath, he knew that his senses remained sharp as well.

Walking slowly, he went to the doorway and leaned against it, still a little unsettled. He was overjoyed to find Soho seated at the table, her arms folded on the table before her and her head lying on them, fast asleep. Pasqual's smile widened when she stirred a little and he wondered just how long he had been unconscious. Going to the window, he looked up at the moon. From how much of the moon was hidden in shadow, he guessed that he had been unconscious for at least two days. Surprised that he wasn't hungry at all, he turned around and walked to the table where Soho sat sleeping. A plate with a half eaten roll of bread and some cheese sat near to her head and he smiled, realizing that she had fallen asleep mid meal. Shaking his head, he reached out and put his hand on her shoulder.

"Soho." He called gently, shaking her a little to wake her. "Hey Soho, wake up." The red panda morph stirred, raising her head and looking up at him without recognition at first. But, after a momentary pause, her face lit with a look of such warmth that he was immediately cheered by it, and she rose to her feet quickly, wrapping her arms around him in a hug.

"Pasqual, you're okay!!" She cried as he hugged her back. "I was so worried that I had done something wrong."

"No, I think it worked." He replied, smiling as they continued to embrace. And, as he held her close, he breathed deep her scent, and it was still as tangible as it had been when he drank the potion. The strange, exciting warmth surged to life within him once more, but this time, he was so overjoyed that he didn't pull away from it. And, somehow, Soho seemed to sense what he was feeling and she pulled back from him a little, looking at his face with an odd look in her eyes. Pasqual found his eyes drawn inexorably to hers and, as he stared into their yellow-brown depths, he found a sudden urge rising within him, an urge that he had felt at times in the past, though never quite this strong. And without realizing he had done so, he gave in to it, drawing her closer to him. And then, before he could stop himself, he was kissing her. But far from being offended, as he had expected, she returned the kiss immediately, her arms encircling his neck, pulling closer as her kisses grew in passion. The spicy note in her scent began to grow in intensity once more, but Pasqual did not even notice. He was too busy concentrating on the woman in his arms to care how she smelled.

Pasqual's concerns about what they were doing, once so strong, were swept away in the sweetness of her kiss, and all he cared about was the sensations running through his body. How sweet she tasted as they kissed again and again, how soft her fur felt beneath his hands, the delightful warmth that seemed to radiate from her body. And, as he held her close, a single thought was in his mind and it made him forget all but the present moment. He cared for her so deeply that he was willing to do almost anything to make her happy, and, he knew, without any reservation within his heart, that she felt the same about him.

Finally, after a few minutes spent in that passionate embrace, Soho broke the kiss, laying her head on his shoulder and rubbing it against his neck. Pasqual reciprocated, and the pair simply stood for a moment, illuminated by the pale moonlight coming in through the un-shuttered window, wrapped in their warm embrace and lost to the world outside it. But, the passion that they had kindled in one another could not be denied for long and after a few moments, Soho stepped back from Pasqual, a look of utmost desire on her face. But she hesitated to take the next step, taking a breath of cool night air and gazing longingly at Pasqual.

Her gaze held a question within it, as if she were silently asking him if this was really what he wanted. Pasqual smiled broadly in response, and gave a single nod, no words seeming to be needed to be said. Soho smiled as well and leaned against him again, pressing her body against his, sliding her fur covered hands under his shirt. Pasqual shivered as she caressed his chest, her touch setting loose a river of tingling excitement through out his body, then lifted his arms, allowing her to lift his shirt over his head. Next came his boots, socks and then his pants. Finally, he stood nude with Soho, shivering slightly in the cool night. But, he did not feel the chill air for long, for Soho stepped close once more, pressing her warm furry body against his skin, the sensation exciting him all the more. He shivered once more, then kissed her again, his hands beginning to explore her body. She did the same, letting her hands roam where they would, caressing his skin gently with her fingertips. For a few moments, they simply teased each other's backs and sides, because, for the moment at least, that was enough to arouse them.

But then Pasqual slipped a hand lower, beginning to caress her tail, feeling its furry length, massaging it with his fingers, making Soho moan slightly, obviously pleased. With one hand, he continued to massage her tail, and with the other, he caressed her smooth rump, gently squeezing it every now and then. When he started doing this, Soho pressed against him harder, rubbing her hardening nipples against his chest, pressing her breasts against him.

Soho's eyes half closed with pleasure at his attentions and the white patches of fur on her face began to become pink once more as she blushed with desire. After a few more moments, Pasqual slid his hands around to her front and upwards, the sudden, unexpected motion making Soho shiver in turn, his hands trailing through the fur of her breasts and her chest, caressing them gently. Soho followed suite, sliding her hands around from his back, trailing them along his ribs, the feel of her claws on his flesh seeming to make him more sensitive in their wake. As Pasqual gently squeezed her breasts with both hands, she used one claw to tease his own nipples to erectness, accompanying the rise of goose bumps all over his body. This gentle teasing went on for a minute or more until, finally, one of Soho's hands trailed down her companion's stomach and touched his stiffened member, making him jump in surprise.

Soho wrapped her furred fingers around his shaft, stroking along its length gently, teasing, it until it was fully erect, and pulsing with arousal, ignoring the droplet of pre that oozed onto her fingers. She then released him, playing her fingers around his balls, giving them a gentle squeeze before going back to stroking him. Soho grinned widely as Pasqual began to blush rather profusely, his breathing speeding up as he grew ever more aroused, his hips giving little jerking motions as the sensations overwhelmed his control. He knew he could not last for long with her doing that, so he decided to return the favor as best he could.

Soho could feel herself burning to be touched further down, her very blood pulsing with the desire to feel his fingers stroke her, and a moment later, Pasqual obliged. His hand trailed down her stomach, through the russet fur that covered her, her whole body seeming to be charged with energy. And then, right when his hand touched her hips, it left her flesh for a moment. She nearly let out a gasp of utter desire and disappointment, but then, suddenly, his fingers were back, trailing over the outside of her engorged labia, the motion letting loose a wave of pleasure so intense that it nearly made her knees buckle. She spread her legs slightly, moaning as his fingers stroked the outside of her lips, up and down in a slow rhythm, the pressure of his fingers gradually increasing. She was soon lost in the sea of pleasure that he was giving her, so distracted that she forgot to stroke him back. And yet, even as wave after wave of pleasure broke upon her, she felt herself desiring more, the feeling like a burning flame within her, growing larger by the moment. And then, without warning, one of his fingers slipped between her lips, making her gasp suddenly, slowly stroking its way down her moist slit until it was right above her passage, but it simply returned to the top of her slit, instead of seeking entry like the flame inside her desired. But then, as he curled his fingertip, stroking it against her clit making her shudder with a new pleasure, she forgot her disappointment, enjoying instead all that he was doing to her.

And then, as she grew perilously close to her peak, panting in excitement, Pasqual suddenly stopped stroking, pulling his fingers back from her. Soho looked at him in confusion, but he just smiled at her. She let out a gasp of surprise a moment later when Pasqual lifted her easily in his muscular arms, one hand beneath her knees, the other beneath her shoulders. Surprised but pleased, Soho put her arms around his neck and nestled her head under his chin as he began to carry her to her bedroom. It was a short trip, but her state of arousal did not die down. Every moment she waited, so close to the release that she so desperately wanted, was one spent in agony. And the feeling of the man she wanted so badly being so close to her, close enough for her to hear his heart beating swiftly with his own arousal was enough to make her whole body yearn for him. Finally, when they passed the door to her room and Pasqual lay her down on the bed, she pulled him down beside her.

But, Pasqual did not immediately pounce on her, as she thought he would, instead, he began stroking her nethers once more, making her shiver again, arching against his fingertips. But then, after a moment, she gasped, for his warm tongue suddenly trailed over her right breast, teasing the nipple once more to erect itself. And then, she moaned suddenly, for his lips enclosed her erected nipple, gently sucking on her, his fingers ceaselessly trailing through her privates. It was almost too much for her, the combination of pleasurable sensations almost pushing her to her peak. She was almost unable to move, unable to react, but time seemed to be slowing to a crawl. The closer she came to climaxing, the slower it seemed to pass. But, just when she was perched on the very edge of her climax, Pasqual stopped for a few moments, making her moan in pleased distress. She wanted her release very badly, but this felt so very good that she didn't want him to stop. And within her, the burning flame that was her heat grew stronger. But it wasn't long before he started up again, this time on her left breast, teasing it with his tongue, then sucking gently, his fingers continuing their leisurely exploration of her privates. This time, she was teetering on the edge, trembling in anticipation before he finally stopped. This time though, as she regained her senses, she decided that she had had enough teasing. She wanted her release, but she burned for far more. She wanted to be mated, and she would stand for nothing less.

This time, when Pasqual readjusted his position, rising up to his knees for some new kind of teasing, she rolled over onto all fours, standing like her animal ancestors, her legs spread towards her lover. He grinned at her as she played her white and russet ringed tail across his chest, swiping its tip gently against his neck. She looked back at him with utter desire in her eyes and his smile grew broader. Barely a moment later, Soho felt the tip of his penis finally touch her pulsing lips and she thrust backward a little, taking his head into her with the motion. But, then she waited, her instincts letting her lover take control. Slowly, with a gentle and yet firm motion, her lover pushed himself against her, working more of his length into her. Soho had never been mated before, but she was so aroused that she had been willing to accept whatever pain came with it in order to douse the burning flame her heat had brought on. More than that, she had been willing to accept anything in order to join with the man she had held a secret love for, for so long. But Pasqual was so gentle in his motions that there was no pain, not even discomfort, only pleasure. Soon, he was hilted, his hips resting against her, and there he paused, letting her get used to his presence within her. And then, he pulled out just as slowly as he had thrust inward, making her moan and shudder as their flesh slid against each other, until only his head was inside her once more. Soho looked back over her shoulder at him for a moment, and saw the hesitation in his eyes. Smiling at him and still blushing fiercely, she gave him a nod of encouragement.

With that, Pasqual began to thrust, slowly at first, building up a steady rhythm, and Soho began to thrust back into him, heightening the sensations. But the rhythm was not the fast paced, uncontrolled thrusting that Soho's instincts told her to expect. Instead, it was a slower, more meaningful pace that caused every slightest motion to bring pleasure. Both were so very aroused that they could not last for long, but both instinctually held back, prolonging the moments they would be joined. Soho knew then that this more than just a mating for the sake of mating. It was a joining of two people who yearned for each other with every fiber of their being. Soon, both were riding the edge of their climaxes, and Soho could stand it no longer. She wrapped her tail around her lover's waist and began to pull him closer with it, gently urging him to make her climax. In response, he lowered his torso so he was leaning over her, his hands shifting from her hips to her chest, squeezing her breasts with both hands. Soho gasped when his fingers gently pinched her nipples, the combination of the two sensations heightening every sensation within her. The feel of her lover's body as he pressed against her, the pleasure of their joining, even the beating of her own racing heart. Soho managed to last for two more thrusts in this position, then, suddenly, the peak she had been longing for was upon her. She let out a gasping moan of passion that was almost a scream, and her muscles tightened down on Pasqual's length as he thrust into her a final time, his own cry of passion matching hers. Even as he thrust into her, releasing a gout of sticky fluid from her crevice, he came, his penis twitching, finally releasing his load. With each twitch of his member, a sticky stream of cum sprayed into her womb, cooling the burning desire that had so filled her, satisfying the deep need that had filled her.

Finally, when Pasqual's penis stopped spurting, he pulled out of her, releasing her breasts and allowing her to lie out on her stomach on the bed. Pasqual gently lowered himself beside her and they lay panting side by side, their faces lit with looks of utter bliss and fulfillment. Then, gradually, drowsiness began to steal over Soho, and she shifted over a little, laying her head onto Pasqual's shoulder as he lay beside her. Smiling dreamily, Pasqual put an arm around her as she closed her eyes, happy at last...

***

The next morning, Pasqual woke up slowly, the sunlight of dawn crawling in through the open window, bringing with it the scent of the morning dew and of the blossoming flowers in the yard. He felt a soft, warm weight resting against him and he opened his eyes, looking down and smiling at Soho as she slept against him, one leg thrown over his own and using his shoulder as a pillow. He stroked his hand through the fur on her back and side idly, enjoying the sensation of her smooth fur running through his fingers. He felt a grin come to his lips as Soho smiled in her sleep and let out a deep, contented sigh, as if there was nothing in the world that made her as happy as laying there with him, having him stroke her fur. As he lay there in the warm sunshine for a few minutes, doing just that, he felt a strange feeling within his heart, a feeling he had never known before. He felt a connection between him and Soho. It was a feeling that made his heart glad to be near her, and sad to even think of being apart from her. He loved her dearly, of that he had no doubt, as odd as it was. It certainly didn't feel taboo or wrong, though most humans would consider it so.

But, gradually, his smile faded a little, for thoughts of the world outside at last began to intrude upon this dreamy existence. He had just had sex with his best friend, and though he had desired her for quite some time without truly realizing it before now, it was still a shocking realization. But, knowing that he had just started something that he might not be able to maintain was a little disturbing. How could he go back to his family, who expected him to settle down with a human woman someday, knowing that he was wholly in love with Soho? For that matter, how could he go back to his home looking as he did now, for he had indeed changed. If he went back now, as he was, then he would have to explain where he went on his time off, which his parents he was sure would not like. Then he would have to explain how he had changed into a werewolf, then been changed back to a human by a potion. His parents were afraid of all things strange, and magic most of all. They would like as not punish him severely for it, even if he could find the words to explain it. It would be a very daunting conversation to carry out, and that was nothing compared to the one he would have to have to explain how he had fallen in love with a Morph. He was about halfway through thinking about what he was going to say when Soho woke up.

"Good morning." He whispered, kissing her tenderly. She returned the kiss with a smile and shifted position a little so she was more comfortable. The lovers lay there in silence for a little while, idly stroking each other's flesh, before Pasqual finally spoke once more. "Soho, we need to talk."

"I know." She replied, looking up at him with an expression of deepest love and understanding on her face.

"Eventually I am going to have to return to my home and my job." He said, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I am going to have to explain where I have been, why I look different. I am going to have to explain about you and me, and..." Pasqual trailed off, for Soho had put a finger to his lips, stopping him before he could continue much farther.

"That is one way, certainly." She said, raising up a little on her arm. "Or, you could just leave it behind, start anew." His eyes went wide and he started to protest but she shushed him. "Hear me out. You told me often that you hated your life at home, that your job was frustrating and your friends among the humans were barely that. Why not just leave it behind? Pasqual, the villager you were, just vanishes. You have the rarest opportunity here. You have the chance to start a whole new life. You could just live here with me, learn the witch's trade. Of all the people I have ever met, you alone have the potential to become a warlock; I can see it in you. Why not just leave everything you hated behind?"

"I hadn't thought about that." Pasqual replied, genuinely surprised and intrigued by her suggestion. He was all the more surprised when he remembered the fantasy he had had not long ago. The two thoughts were very, very close. "But don't you think that people would be a little suspicious that I disappear and then suddenly there is a stranger living in the area?"

Soho was about to reply when the quick beat of a horse's hooves coming up the road drifted in from the window. There could be no other reason for a horse to be traveling that road except that whoever it was, was heading for the witch's house. Sharing the same look of apprehension, the pair reluctantly separated, leaping up from the bed, Soho going to the wash basin in the corner of the room. She quickly cleaned the fur around her privates, washing away the evidence of their late night interlude, then went out to the main room while Pasqual went and clothed himself quickly, afraid of being caught undressed in the company of a morph. He had just finished donning his clothes when an urgent series of knocks sounded on the front door. Soho went and opened the door, revealing the form of one of Pasqual's human friends, panting in haste.

"Soho, I am glad you are here" he began, looking disturbed. "Pasqual is missing, and we think he might be dead."

"What?" Soho gasped, feigning surprise and worry. "What are you talking about?"

"Well, his parents said he was taking some time off work to tend to a sick friend, but none of his friends were ill." He continued, nodding in greeting when he noticed Pasqual standing in the room, obviously not recognizing him. "So we went looking for him, and in a clearing in the woods, we found his clothes and boots. They were torn apart. It looked like some kind of monster got to him. We brought in search dogs but they couldn't find any sign of him. Do either of you have any idea where he is?"

Soho turned and looked at Pasqual, her gaze asking what he would decide. And this was it, the moment of decision. He had to make his choice now; would he return to the village and the life he had been so unhappy with, or would he let it all go, becoming a stranger to his village, someone new? He wrestled with the choice for a half second, and then, like a rippling pond suddenly settled into stillness, his mind became clear. In the end, the choice was no choice at all. Soho could not be happy if he returned to the life he had led, especially if he was punished for his actions.

"No. I haven't seen anybody by that name." He said, and the man's face fell. Soho's face however, lit up with joy, but she quickly suppressed the look, turning back towards the man and shaking her head as well.

"I haven't seen him in a while." She lied, looking troubled. "I hope you find him."

"Me too." He said, then touched the rim of his hat, saying "Sorry to bother you."

The moment he was gone, Soho ran to her lover and embraced him, kissing him deeply. He returned her kiss, holding her close, and smiled inwardly. Today, he began a new life, one he had a feeling that he had wanted all along...

***

The bright sunlight of a radiant spring morning shone down upon the witch's house, causing the brilliant green grass to glow with vitality. The flowers that grew wild in the yard shone brightly beneath the oak trees as they danced in the breeze, the sounds of the leaves like rain falling from on high. The witch smiled to herself as her wagon came around the bend in the road, bringing her home into view. Her trip had been productive, and she was in a good mood, for the whole world seemed to be teeming with new life. She wasn't even troubled by the news that had reached her when she had gotten to the town. It seemed that her apprentice's friend, the young man named Pasqual, had disappeared more than six weeks ago, and nothing had been seen of him since. The witch was untroubled by this, not because of her good mood, but because of something she had glimpsed during a bout of far seeing she had had before she left on her journey.

As the house grew closer, she noticed the odd pair that lay in her yard, lying back against one of the oak trees. And her smile widened when she recognized who it was. Soho was lying back against Pasqual, fast asleep, a smile of contentment on her face. The boy had changed just as she knew he would. Pasqual's now muscular arms were around Soho, and her hands were resting on her belly, which was slightly swollen with the early signs of pregnancy. The witch shook her head, her smile remaining where it was, for it seemed her vision had come true, as odd as it had seemed at the time. Soho had finally found the love she had desired, and soon, the family the witch knew that she had dreamed of would come into the world. The witch was pleased for her apprentice, and pleased for her young friend as well, for he seemed infinitely more content than he had been the last time he had met her. It seemed that the world had righted itself at last...

The end
