G had left Rebecca with her friends, telling her that he had some things to do in town. The younger trainer had accepted that explaination without argument, and now, G was in the local Pokémon Center. "Your Pokémon are all healed up!" said the resident Nurse Joy. "Have a nice day!" G smiled and nodded.

"Thanks," he told her, taking the Pokeballs that contained Dmitri and Serena. "Alright Lucian, let's go make some calls." The Lucario nodded and followed as G headed over to a rack of video-phones, with a few of them having slots to receive Pokémon from other regions. Sitting down, G slid a card through a slot and dialed a number. Soon, the wizened face of a Pokémon Professor appeared.

"Professor Samuel Oak, may I ask who's-oh G, it's you!" the Professor said, surprised. "Did you make it to Unova already?"

G chuckled. "Yeah, I made it here safe and sound," he told the Professor. "I'm just wondering if I could some members of my team from the ranch to help me out a bit here in Unova."

"Of course you can!" Oak exclaimed. "You really didn't need to ask!"

G shook his head, smiling. "Professor, I respect you too much to just demand things," he told him. "I'm thinking of Philip, Sceptile, Tobi, and... Pidgeotto."

"I see," Oak said. "I'll get them transferred to you as soon as I can. Also, G, I have something to tell you."

G gulped. "Yes?..." he asked, wondering where this was going.

Oak smiled, apparently energized by the response. "You see G, Silph Corporation, Devon Industries, and a few other firms have made a device that allows trainers to keep all the Pokémon they've captured on one system that's with the trainer. Myself and Professors Elm and Rowan provided advice of course. And at my suggestion, they want you to give it a test run in the field!"

"Umm, Professor, I hate to burst your bubble, but I can already tell you some of the problems with that right now," G said, worried as a crowd was gathering outside. "Namely, how do you make sure that no one but the user can even access the device in question?"

"Well," Professor Oak said, rubbing the back of his head, "Without getting into specifics, I can tell you that it involves biometrics." G sighed.

"They already shipped it out didn't they?" he asked, dejected. Oak nodded. "Alright, I'll play the role of lab rat. So, the usual six Pokémon rule still applies?"

"Yes, they still do," Oak said. "That's not going to be a problem with you, is it?" G shook his head.

"Not really," he admitted. "If anything, this means I can technically not worry about rushing to a Center to have Pokémon transferred. Although, I'm pretty sure this thing can't heal Pokémon inside it, can it?"

"Not to my knowledge."

"Okay, good," G said. "That does a lot to calm my nerves down a bit. So, when do I get this thing?"

"We actually have a courier heading to Unova, heading for Striaton," Oak said. "He'll be waiting for you at their Pokémon Center."

"Okay, thanks Professor," G said smiling. "I'll see you around. Tell your knucklehead of a grandson I said hi!"

Professoer Oak laughed as they hung up. Lucian looked at his friend. [Are you sure you want whatever this this is?] he asked. G shook his head.

"Hell no, but hey, anything for the Professor," he said to the Lucario. "Now what the hell is going on out there?" Lucian turned to look at the crowd.

[I do not know,] he stated. [But, knowing our luck, it will most likely end in trouble.]

G laughed. "Please, if it were trouble, I'd be calling for help! Now come on, let's go see what the commotion's all about!"

Rebecca was furious. This... Team Plasma, thought that humans were holding back Pokémon? That was a load of crap that Rebecca was sure even a kid could see through. Yet, it tore her heart apart to see people forcing their Pokémon to leave them. "This isn't right," she whispered to Jade, who was outside her Pokeball and standing on a nearby bench.

[None of what they say is right,] Jade stated, knowing that even though her trainer couldn't understand her, the meaning was still clear.

"Your Pokémon... just now it was saying..."

Rebecca whirled around, startled. Behind her stood a solitary teen about her age, if not slightly older wearing a near featureless white shirt, black pants, and a hat that could have come from anywhere. What set him apart was his green hair, and the odd cube thing hanging from his neck. "Umm, who are you?" she asked him, edging over to Jade, who bristled at the sudden intrusion.

[Back away from my trainer,] Jade growled, glaring at the teen. The teen looked at the Snivy in surprise and backed away slightly.

"I'm sorry if I seem threatening to you," he said to Jade. "I was just curious about what you were saying."

Both Jade and Rebecca looked at him in surprise. "Wait, you... you can understand Jade?" Rebecca asked him. The teen looked at her sadly.

"Yes, she's talking," he said. "It's sad... that you can't hear her speak. My name is N."

Rebecca looked at him oddly. "...N? That's not really a name," she said.

"Yeah, well, neither is 'G,' but that's what I let people call me," said G as he walked in on the pair. N flinched at the sight of G, while Rebecca slumped in relief.

"Oh G, hey, this guy is, uh, well," Rebecca began as G looked at N.

"Hey there N," he said casually, giving him a once-over. "Damn... last time I met you, you were taller," he commented. "Now you're only a half-a head taller than I am. What gives, did you shrink?" G added, chuckling. N glared at G.

"You said you were coming back," N whispered, loud enough for G and Rebecca to hear, along with their Pokémon.

[G, you know this human?] Lucian asked, turning his head to look at G, who was suddenly tense. [G?]

G took a deep breathe.

Many Years Ago...

N was supposed to be sleeping. The eight year old child had been put to bed by the two nice ladies an hour ago, and normally, he would usually be asleep by now. This certainly wasn't the case now. Beside him, Zorua was curled up, his tail occasionally twitching. Yet, despite the comforting warmth that Zorua offered, N just... couldn't sleep. Quietly, N slid out from under the covers of his bed (it felt strange to sleep under so many layers of fabric. Darmanitan was a great bed, why couldn't he stay with him?) and walked over to a model train set on a table. Silently, the young boy picked up a train and inspected it. Suddenly, he heard a commotion from the other side of his bedroom door.

Fearfully, N rushed back to the bed, waking up Zorua in the process. [Hey what gives?] Zorua asked as his sleep was disturbed, only to hear the same commotion that N had heard. Together, they could only wait for it to end.

Without warning, a person opened and closed the door to N's room, hiding behind it as footsteps rushed past. N and Zorua got a good look at the person as the footsteps died down. He was tall (but then again, everyone was tall to N), and he was wearing faded black pants made from tough fabric, and most likely white shirt, and some kind of colorful overshirt. Soon, the footsteps went quiet and the intruder let out a sigh of relief.

"Great, lost the-" he said as he turned around, only to see N and Zorua sitting there on the bed. "....."

"......"

".......so.....what's your name?" the strange human asked. N looked at him in shock.

"W-Why are you here?" N asked, hiding under his covers, just barely peeking out at the human. Said human pointed at the door behind him.

"To get away from the guards," he replied. "Also, because I want to whose room I just walked into."

"Well...my name is N," the child stated. "And this is Zorua."

[And if you hurt him, I will rip your face off!] Zorua growled.

Present Day

G looked up at N. "Yeah, I did say I was coming back, didn't I?" he asked, more to himself this time. "So, N, how've you been?" he asked.

N looked at him, taken aback. "I... I've been while," he replied after a moment. "I understand that you're... you're a trainer of some skill?" G chuckled as Rebecca looked at N weirdly.

"Yeah, you could say that," G said. "Three Leagues in two years. Current holder for the Hoenn League too. You still have Zorua?"

N nodded. G looked around. "Where is that little furball anyway?" G asked, curious. Lucian looked at N warily.

[G... his aura-] Lucian stated.

"I know about his Aura," G said, looking back to his friend. "Just let me catch up with an old friend, alright?" Now it was N's turn to be surprised.

"You can understand the Lucario?" N asked in disbelief. G smiled when suddenly the ground shook as an explosion filled the air.

"Lucian, let's go!" G commanded as he quickly turned to run towards the explosion. Lucian nodded as he dashed after the trainer. Not knowing what else to do, Rebecca and N followed G.
