**The Cabin
Chapter 3: The Bonfire

Tristan and Jake slept peacefully for the next few hours. Jake was holding onto Tristan using his chest as a pillow, while the canine had his arm around the feline holding him gently. The afternoon slowly crept by as it became darker outside and the canine started to stir from his dreams. He opened his eyes and let out a yawn and a stretch as he smiled looking down to the feline laying on him, "Hey Jake, Time to wake up..." He shook him a bit with his free paw lightly.
Jake yawned as he awoke, accidentally yawning into Tristan's face. As soon as he opened his eyes, he realized what he had just done. "Oops, sorry...I probably have bad morning breath...Wait wasn't I facing away from you before?" he thought aloud and realized that they must have turned while they were asleep.
The husky thought about that and nodded lightly, "Yeah I do remember you turning your back to me." He shrugged lightly, "Eh, oh well."
Jake giggled a bit and leaned in. "Well, this is nice, too," he said softly before pulling the large, muscular canine into a deep kiss.
Tristan murred lightly and kissed Jake back for a brief time before breaking it. He looked over to the clock, "Oh we better be getting ready, the bon fire starts in about a half an hour."
Jake giggled a bit as he slowly rolled out of bed. "Alright, I'm awake," the feline said as he pulled his Speedo back on.
The husky chuckled lightly as he placed his foot paws on the ground and stood up. He stretched up and out, "Nothing like a good nap." He looked over to the feline and smiled a bit, "I'm just curious... do you want me to go in my swim suit or in my clothes?"
"Swim suit for sure," Jake said happily as he adjusted his suit a bit, making sure that it was just right as he looked over to the husky. "So, what do you think?"
The canine looked over the feline and smiled nodding, "Very sexy, Hun." He blinked at himself and placed his paw in the back of his head, "Did I actually say that?"
The snow leopard smiled and moved over to the husky and handed him his Speedo. "You did agree to be my boyfriend, Hun. I mean, I know you were tired, so if you want to take it back, I'd understand."
Tristan took his Speedo and started to place them back on as he looked up to Jake, "I was tired yes, but I can usually think even when I'm like that. I know what I said and I'm not going to change it." After he said the last part of the sentence he pulled up the suit over his balls and sheath, "Well, you asked me and now I'm going to ask you. How do I look?"
"You may have just gotten into them, but I already want to get them off of you," Jake said, giggling a bit. "If that answers your question?"
"Not really." He shrugs lightly and sighs, "Never mind, it's not important. Shall we go?"
"Well, to really answer your question, you look good. And of course," Jake said as he gently grasped Tristan's paw and smiled at the husky.
The husky returned the smile, "Only until halfway to the bon fire, agreed?"
"Once we see the beach, we stop. I know. I know I can be a bit of a ditz sometimes, but I know how to hide stuff like this. Don't forget. I hid it from you for almost a year," Jake said as he clung to Jake's arm as they walked out of the cabin.
Tristan looked down at the feline and chuckled lightly, "Yeah I guess you're right." He looked back up and relaxed lightly as he closed his eyes breathing in the twilight air, "smells nice out here."
"You're starting to lose your winter coat, Hun," Jake said as he gently rubbed over the husky's arm. "It's not quite there, but it is getting thinner."
The husky looked down to Jake and tilted his head to the side a bit, "How can you tell?"
"I am feeling your fur. And there was some of your fur on the mattress when we awoke from our nap. I'm sure some of it must have been mine, but some had to have been yours too. Give it a few more days and our summer coats will be fully here," Jake said as he gave Tristan a quick kiss on the cheek as they approached the beach.
Tristan chuckled lightly and nodded as he looked up and saw the lake beach in view. He blushed a little from the kiss and then cleared his throat a bit, "Um Jake, I can see the beach..."
"I know. I just had to give you one last kiss before I have hours away from you," Jake said as he moved away from Tristan. The two walked down the beach a bit before Liz and the ferret came up to them. "This could be a bit of trouble."
The husky stopped as they came up, "What's up Liz?" The canine didn't even look at the ferret, "Ready to have a bit of fun tonight?"
"Of course, I just wanted to introduce you to a new friend I met today. Terri, this is Jake and Tristan," Liz told them.
"We've kind of already met. Liz here told me that she had a gay friend. I didn't think it was you, cutie," Terri said as he gave Tristan a wink, which Liz thought he was giving to Jake.
"Liz, may I talk to you over here for a moment?" Jake said as he walked about ten feet away. Liz followed leaving the ferret and Tristan alone.
"So, I am a bit interested in learning more about you," Terri said as he moved closer to Tristan.
Tristan watched as Jake and Liz go off for a moment thinking, 'Great... Jake, why are you leaving me alone?' He turned his attention to Terri and blinked feeling a little uneasy. He shook his head trying not to be rude, "Um, no thanks."
"Aw, c'mon. You seem to be pretty friendly with that kitty over there. And if you ask me, you could do better," Terri said as he moved a little bit closer to Tristan.
"Look, Liz, I should have told you this sooner, but I kind of found someone that I'm a bit interested in. I don't want to talk about it right now because I'm not sure if it will be a long term thing, but you think you might be able to butt out of it for now?"
Liz looked down at the ground a bit. "Alright, I didn't know you had found someone. I was just trying to help," she said.
"And I appreciate it, I really do, but it's not necessary. Now, let's get that ferret away from Tristan before something happens that he'll regret," Jake said with a slight smile.
"You're right. I should have brought the ferret around when you were by yourself," Liz said as they started to walk back over towards the other two.
"The reason I'm like that with him is because we've been friends for a good while," He backed up a little not liking were this is going as his eyes moved over to Jake and Liz.
Terri moved a bit closer. "Aw, c'mon. You don't have to tease him like that. If he's your friend, then you should just leave him be instead of giving him false promises. What you really need is someone with a bit of pizzazz, a bit of sparkle, someone like me." Terri moved over and rubbed over Tristan's chest a bit.
Tristan tried his very best to calm himself down. He kept on looking up to Jake and Liz, 'Come on guys hurry up... I don't know how long I can keep this up...' He looked down to the ferret and saw that he was very serious as a growl slipped his lips. He was very uncomfortable at this point and wanted to rip him to shreds.
Terri murred a bit as he rubbed over Tristan's arm. "You must work out a lot. Very sexy," he said. He then leaned in closer. "How about we ditch these two and head back to my cabin? I'd love for you to top me."
Tristan growled even more bearing his teeth as he flexed his paws into fists and back, "Get the fuck away from me faggot!"
Terri stumbled backwards onto the sand. "But...I thought Liz said you were gay," the ferret said nervously. A tear was starting to swell up in his eye as he got up and ran down the beach.
Jake stopped in his tracks. He knew he shouldn't be surprised that Tristan had said that. But it still hurt him deep down. Jake then growled a bit. "Tristan, that was uncalled for," he said as he folded his arms and looked over at the husky.
When Tristan realized what he said it was too late, he pinned his ears to the top of his head. "Shit..." He looked over to Jake and then looked down to the ground. He walked passed Jake and back towards the cabin, "Um... you two have fun... I'll catch you later..."
Jake sighed and ran after Tristan. "Look, Tris. I don't mind if you go back to the cabin or not, but you need to apologize to him. You may not like him, but he is a nice guy. Plus, I'm sure you'll feel better by apologizing to him. Trust me on this," Jake said.
There's no way that Tristan would ever go near Terri again. I'm surprised he's been spending so much time with Jake,' Liz thought to herself as she watched the two.
The husky stopped and looked over to Jake, "Jake, I'm not really good at apologizing to anyone or to sound like I mean it. So, forget it." He turned around and kept walking towards the cabin.
Jake looked over at Liz for a second before he went over to Tristan and whispered in his ear. "You had better go apologize or else," Jake said sternly. "And trust me; you do not want to know what the or else is." The snow leopard gave him a strict look that told the husky that he wasn't lying.
Tristan stopped and looked over to the feline sighing lightly. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place with this one, "Alright..."
Jake smiled. "Thank you. Now, let's go find him," the feline said as he started to head back towards bon fire. The actual fire had not been set yet, but he could see the pile of wood out by the beach. "We'd better hurry."
Tristan followed after the leopard and didn't say anything. He still had his ears down feeling very uneasy about everything.
Jake stopped as he came up to the open area and saw Terri not far away, sitting on the ground crying. "Alright, Hu...Tris...go talk to him."
Liz wasn't too far behind them. Tristan seems to be acting weird today. He seems to be spending a lot of time with Jake and he seems to be listening to him a lot more too. I wonder...'
He saw the ferret on the ground as he bit his lip lightly. He walked over to him and leaned down, "Terri?"
Terri sniffed and wiped away his tears as he looked up at Tristan. "What are you doing here? Come to harass me some more?"
Those words hurt him more than anything as he flinched a bit and shook his head, "No, I came here to say I was sorry for how I reacted. I know it was down right cruel of me to say that to you." He looked down and closed his eyes, "...but if you knew what I went through you would understand why I acted like that."
Terri sniffed again. "Then...then what made you apologize to me? It doesn't seem like you're the kind of guy who would even come close to a guy like me," the ferret said as he looked down at the ground.
"What did you say to him to get him to apologize?" Liz asked in a whisper.
"You really don't want to know. Trust me," Jake whispered back.
The husky sighed, "I have my reasons for doing what I do." He put out a paw for the ferret to take, "Come on..."
Terri wiped away the last of his tears and took the husky's paw. "S-So, I'll back off of hitting on you if you back off on saying faggot'?"
Tristan nodded as he stood up pulling Terri to his foot paws, "Yeah sure."
Jake smiled and went over to them. "So, did the two of you work things out?"
"Yeah, we did. So, I'm guessing you're the gay friend Liz was talking about," Terri said.
"Yes, I am. Liz can be a bit of a control freak. She has tried to set me up before. At least this time, she tried to do it with a bit of a cutie," Jake said. He wondered if Tristan would get jealous and hoped that he would understand that he was just being polite.
"So, you're single?" Terri asked.
"Not exactly. I kind of have found someone, but I haven't told Liz yet."
"Haven't told me what?" Liz asked as she came over to the three males.
"Nothing. Don't worry about it. We'd better get over there. They are about to start the bon fire," Jake said as he grabbed both Tristan's and Terri's paws and started to drag them over to the pile of wood.
Tristan didn't budge from his spot as he looked towards the feline and cleared his throat to get his attention.
"Oh, sorry, Hu...Tris..." He let go of their paws and walked towards the pile of wood with the others. He felt a bit embarrassed, but he knew that his boyfriend was right. He couldn't just drag him where ever he wanted to.
Hu??? He was about to say Hun, wasn't he?' Liz thought to herself as she walked along. No. There's no way that those two could be together.'
The husky nodded and walked with the three furs to where the bon fire was going to be.
Once they arrived, the four sat down in their own little group, as others had down, around the pile of wood. They chatted together for a few minutes before a guy came out of the shack.
"Alright, guys. Sorry to keep you waiting. We had trouble finding a lighter. Now, for those of you who don't know, this has been a Lake Kanawee tradition for decades. There's a bit of a tale behind this tradition, too. They say that many years ago, the nearby town had many unexplained deaths. They say that it was evil spirits who killed these people. The story says that a drifter knew how to deal with these evil spirits. He told them that someone had been killed in the lake and the spirit needed to be honored each year with a large fire. Otherwise, the spirit could come back and..."
"WAAAAH!!!" A wolf in a mask jumped out behind Jake, causing the feline to scream and jump into Liz's lap. Some of the other furs nearby jumped as well.
"Damn...that's the second year in a row they did that to me," Jake said as he started to lick over his fur to flatten it out.
Liz couldn't help but giggle. "Aw, don't do that. You're such a cute fluff ball."
"Bite me," Jake said with a small growl before continuing to flatten his fur with his tongue.
The husky chuckled lightly as he came up and pat Jake on the head, "Oh come on, you know that it's all in great fun." He was one of those furs that didn't jump because he saw the wolf coming.
The host lit a torch and threw it onto the pile of wood. It was obvious that they had put lighting fuel on the wood because the entire pile burst into flames with certain magnificence.
The canine looked over to the wood and saw them light it, smiling as it flared up into the heavens.
Jake growled lightly and sighed. "I know, but still...I am way too jumpy. And every time, my fur stands all up like this and I look horrible," he said before he went back to his licking.
Tristan shook his head and sat down crossing his legs tired of standing up. He watched the fire for a bit and started to think to himself.
Liz, Terri, and Jake on the other hand decided to go talk to some others. As they got up, the lioness from the volleyball game came over and sat next to Tristan. "Hello. I'm Sally."
The husky snapped to after a second and looked over to the lioness, "Hey, I'm Tristan." He smiled softly and looked back over to the flames.
"So, is Liz your girlfriend?" the lioness asked as she scooted a little closer to the canine.
Tristan chuckled lightly and shook his head, "No, but I am seeing someone else right now if you must know..." He looked over to Sally and smiled. "Hope that doesn't come as a surprise to you."
Sally couldn't help but laugh. "Someone as sexy as you...definitely not. It's too bad that I didn't meet you first. So, what's she like?" Sally asked
Tristan thought for a bit, "Well, kind, considerate, always knows what to say to cheer me up, and a really good kisser..." He bushed lightly to the last thing he said as he put his knees up and wrapped his arms around them.
Sally smiled. "She sounds really sweet. I hope I could meet her someday so that I could get some tips on how to get a hunk like you," she said as she stood up. "How about you come hang out with me and my friends?"
The husky looked around and shrugged lightly standing up. He looked to the lioness and smiled lightly, "Sure, I have nothing to do."
Sally led him over to some of the others that were around. There was a skunk named Jim, a tiger named to Tom, and bear named Billy. Sally introduced the dog to them and introduced them to the dog.
Tristan smiled and nodded to all of them, "Hey, nice to meet you guys."

Meanwhile, Terri had introduced Liz and Jake to his friends, a rabbit named Daniel and a wolf named Max. "Hello. I'm Jake and this is my good friend Liz," the snow leopard said as he shook each of their paws.
Max smiled lightly and nodded as he shook Jakes hand, "It's nice to meat you both oh and sorry about that scare back there, really I couldn't help myself."
"Yeah, but you did it to me last year to. Of course we didn't officially get to meet last year. I would have smacked you a good one if we had."
Liz giggled a bit. "I'm just glad that you're not giving him one now."
Daniel laughed, "That was priceless, anyway... nice to meet you both as well." The rabbit looked to Terri, "Hey Ter is this the fur you had googlie eyes over last year too?"
Terri blushed heavily. "Shush you," the ferret said as he gave the bunny a slight punch in the arm.
Liz and Jake just laughed a bit. "I think it's sweet. I may have fallen for you if had asked me out last year," Jake said.
"Didn't you have your eyes on a certain bunny?" Liz asked. Now it was Jake's turn to blush.
Daniel blushed lightly and placed his paw in the back of his head and rubbed it gently, "Talk about liking different furs... Why didn't you tell me before?"
Max chuckled lightly, "I think I can answer that question Hun..."
Daniel looked to the wolf and blushed more, "Oh right... sorry... now I feel a bit stupid."
"What are you talking about?" Jake asked them. He was quite a curious kitty. It had gotten him into trouble at times, but never enough trouble for him to stop being curious.
Daniel smiled as Max placed an arm around the rabbit's neck, "Became mates about a year ago."
Jake smiled a bit. "You two make a really great couple," the feline said before looking over at Tristan. I just hope we'll last that long.'
"I couldn't agree more," Terri said. "I've been saying it for a year. Maybe you should tell them how it happened."
Max looked to Daniel and smiled lightly, "Actually, it was just after Jake left last year that we got together. We started out as room mates, though going to the same college, and having totally different objectives." Daniel blushed lightly as Max told Jake and Liz the story, "I was mostly interested in sports and weight training but my boyfriend here was a total computer nerd. At first we didn't get along because of out differences in opinions but eventually everything started to come together. It wasn't until a month later we came out to each other with the help of Terri here." The wolf patted the ferret on the shoulder.
Jake smiled. "That's really sweet. I just hope I'll have that much luck myself," the snow leopard said. "So, what are you guys studying?"
Daniel thought a minute, "Well, I'm into multimedia and trying to put movies and shows together."
"And I'm into weight lifting as you can probably tell, but I don't know what exactly I'm doing right now. Haven't really decided, it's still early." Max smile and hugged into Daniel a bit.
"I'm going for a general degree in management. I think it would be a bit useful," Jake said.
"Fashion design major," Liz said with a smile. "What about you Terri?"
"Well...I want to teach middle school English. I like kids and I would love to help give back to this work. It just feels right." The ferret smiled and looked over at his friends. "And if that doesn't work, I could just live with these two. They don't seem to mind threesomes too much." He knew he had to get them back for teasing him about the liking Jake the year before.
Max and Daniel laughed to the ferret's teasing. Max went over to Terry and placed an arm around him, "Actually Daniel and I don't mind at all."
Terri growled slightly. "It's not fair. You two are too hard to embarrass. But I can't say I don't enjoy it. Maybe we should just make this a full time position," the ferret joked.
Daniel shook his head and smiled lightly, "Say Jake, what kind of fur are you looking for? Just give me the basics?"
"Well...to be honest, I'm not really looking for anyone right now," Jake said with a smile. "I'm happy the way things are right now." The feline gave a quick glance over to Tristan and wondered what was going on over there.
"Oh I see..." The rabbit shrugged lightly. "Well, I think it's about time for us to get going. We have a few things we want to go do tomorrow and don't want to be tired for it."
"What are you guys going to be doing?" Liz asked. It seemed as if Jake wasn't the only curious one. "Maybe we could come along as well."
Daniel looked at Max and smiled, "We were thinking about going hiking tomorrow."
"That should be nice. Some fresh air should be good. And we'll have to bring Tris along as well," Jake had said. "Well, it was nice meeting you two. It is getting a bit late. I think I'm going to head back to the cabin."
"I think I'm going to hang around a little bit. I still want to get to know that cute dingo a bit more," Liz said. "I'll see you guys later." She then walked over to where Tristan was while Jake began to head back up to the cabin.
* * *
"You were right Sally. He does kind of look like the bad guy from the new Bond movie," Jim said with a bit of a giggle. He had been wearing a pink Speedo and a bracelet with flowers on it. And the way he stood just screamed girly.
"And we all know how much you adore Bond, Jimmy," Tom said as he pulled the young skunk into his arms. "I hope you don't mind us. Liz mentioned that you were a bit of a homophobe. But don't worry. We're not going to get close to you. We like to keep to ourselves."
Tristan shook his head, "Don't worry about it. As long as you don't grovel over me it's fine. I can deal with the way things are."
Sally sighed. "Why is it that there are never any single STRAIGHT guys whenever I come out here? Every year they are either gay and single or straight and taken."
"Well, you still have Billy over here," Jimmy said as he cuddled back into the tiger.
The bear was sitting on the ground just listening to what the other furs were saying. He wasn't much of the talkative type, but he was the most intelligent in the group. He looked up to Tom and Jim when they said his name, but he wasn't really listening; he was thinking about something else entirely, "What?"
"Sorry, Billy, but you're just not my type. Now if you were more like Tristan here, that would be a different story. I know. I'm your typical jock loving girl, but what can I say? I love sports," Sally said as she patted the bear on the shoulder.
"Sally here plays baseball, basketball, and is on our school's competitive flag football team," Tom said to the husky. "What sports do you play?"
Billy shrugged lightly as He stood up and stretched himself out and looks to Tristan.
The husky thought for a bit placing a paw to under his chin, "Um...Well, I've always had an interest in football and played a few games over the years, but then school kind of got in the way and other things. So, I've stopped for now."
Tom gently smacked Jimmy on the head. "Stop staring at him, Hun. You know I don't like it when you stare at others," the tiger said softly.
"S-Sorry, but I just can't take my eyes off of those big strong muscles. They just look so different on his body than on yours. Not that they are anywhere as close to as sexy as yours, but still," the skunk said as he looked down at the ground.
Tom smiled and licked over the back of Jimmy's head. "Don't worry. I know you didn't mean anything by it. I'd have to agree with you on this one. He is sexy. Do you work out a whole lot, Tristan?"
The husky places his paw in the back of his head, "Yeah, I usually work out at home though. Don't like the gyms all that much, so I put some equipment down in the basement." He shrugged lightly.
"I see. Well, if we're ever in your area, mind if we join you sometime? I bet you look really good when you're working out," Tom said, earning him an elbow in his side from the skunk. "What?"
"You told me not to think about him, so I'm telling you to do the same," Jimmy said as he pushed his body back against the tiger.
Tristan placed his arm back down and looked up to the sky thinking to himself for a moment. The sky was nice and clear and he could see thousands of stars. He looked over to his right a little and saw a shooting star fly past as he closed his eyes and made a wish. He smiled lightly and looked back down to the group and looked at the tiger, "I wouldn't mind that at all actually. There is just one condition and I think you know what it is."
"Yeah, I know. Anyways..." Tom picked the skunk up and gently put him over his shoulder. I want to get the fella out of here before a certain someone comes back and ruins our alone time." The tiger gave a stern look at the bear.
The bear tilted his head and looked over to Tom and Jim, "What are you talking about, I don't do anything to you two." He had the look of confusion on his face.
"You walked right in on us last night while we were having sex. You must have had your face in that science book. We quickly pretended we were asleep," Jimmy said.
The bear blushed very brightly and said with a whisper, "Sorry..."
"Anyways, we're off." Jimmy quickly added.
"Alright. You two have fun. Me and Billy are gonna talk to some others. And it looks like Liz is gonna come join us. She's had her eyes on that one dingo all day," Sally said as Liz walked over to them
Tristan just laughed and looked over to Liz, "Hey, what's up? Where is Jake I thought he was with you?"
"He went back to the cabin. So, have you guys seen Steve?" Liz asked hopefully.
"The dingo? Yeah, he's down by the beach. We were just about to go over there. You two comin'?" Sally told her friend.
"Definitely. How about you, Tristan?" Liz as she looked over at the husky.
"Only for a bit, I want to see this dingo you constantly talk about."
Liz giggled as the four of them went further down on the beach where another larger group was. They had a boom box out and a lot of them were dancing. Liz looked over and saw some other girl with Steve but it was quite obvious that the dingo wasn't having fun. As they got closer, Steve noticed them and smiled and went over to Liz and started to dance with her. The panther that had been dancing with him growled slightly and stormed off.
The husky stopped on the outskirts of the dance floor and watched as the dingo came over to Liz and started dancing with her. He smiled lightly and thought, 'So, that's what he looks like, not bad Liz, not bad...'
Liz happily danced with the dingo for a few minutes before she stopped him and brought him away from the others and down the beach some.
Tristan chuckled to himself and shook his head. 'Well, better be getting back.' He turned and started back to his cabin.
* * *
Jake had been sitting on the beach by the path up to the cabin. He had been looking up at the sky and watching the meteor shower that was taking place.
Tristan saw the leopard as he was walking up to the cabin and smiled. He walked up and sat down next to him, "Hey Hun, what's up?"
Jake looked over to the husky and smiled as he leaned into his boyfriend. "I was just watching the meteor shower. I heard about it on the radio but I thought it was supposed to be tomorrow night. Either way, it really is beautiful."
The husky looked up and nodded lightly relaxing, "I think I saw the very first one a few minutes ago and I made a wish to it."
The snow leopard smiled and nuzzled into Tristan's chest a bit. "What was your wish?" he asked softly.
Tristan placed an arm around the leopard and held him closer, "If I told you it wouldn't come true now would it?"
"I don't believe that. I've made plenty of wishes that I've told people and they've come true. Like you remember my birthday last month? I wished that I would have the courage to ask the guy I liked to be my boyfriend. I told Liz what my wish was and it still came true. She asked me for hours who it was and I refused to tell her that it was you, but it still came true." Jake leaned in and gave an affectionate lick over Tristan's cheek. "You being here is proof of that."
The canine blushed lightly and looked a bit away, "Well, if you put it that way, there are actually two wishes that I want to happen. One is to be with you and the second one was to somehow get rid of this homophobia. I really am getting tired of biting other furs heads off because of it. I'm just afraid that you might push me too far and I'll do the same to you." He turned his head back to Jake and looked at him for a minute and then leaned back some on his free paw bringing the feline with him.
Jake smiled and blushed softly. "You really care about me that much?" He knew that Tristan cared about him, but he didn't think it was that much.
"Of course I do Jake. I always did. It doesn't matter if I'm your boyfriend or not." He smiled and looked back up to the meteor shower.
Jake smiled as he cuddled up to his boyfriend and watched the meteor shower with him for a few more minutes before the shower seemed to slow down. "Let's head back up to the cabin," he said to the husky as he slowly began to stand up.
