Shade: Chapter 2

Run on Pure Imagination

I woke up to Shade nudging my face awake. "Hey." I said. I got up and walked out of the tent. "Ah, time for a little morning snack with roasted marshmallows. Don't ya think, Shade?" Shade hadn't left the tent. Usually she'd be all over me for these marshmallows, but something was different.

Then I felt the ground shake a little. "What the hell was that?!" I shouted. I heard snapping come from thicket of trees just off to my right. The ground started to shake even more. I looked at Shade, who had a very worried look on her face I grabbed on of my other pokeballs, ready to summon him or her out when the moment came. I saw a silhouette of the pokemon that was coming. When it finally reached the last few trees before the clearing, What better to do to show your strength than to punch the trees down. With it now in the light, I saw it was a Dragonite. I gulped as I saw most of my pokemon were no mach for the deadly dragon.

I moved my hand to the second pokeball clipped to my belt. I threw it and out came my Pikachu. My Pikachu was different. Instead of the normal stripes on it's back, it did not have them. and it's ears were almost completely brown. I had also nicknamed her Pichi. "Pichi, I need you to be very careful around this foe. It is not one to be messed with. This Dragonite is extremely dangerous, so I need you to take it down swiftly and carefully." I said carefully. The Dragonite was panting pretty hard so it must have been training for a while. Then, I saw his hand become engulfed in ice. "Pichi, he's planning an ice punch. Let's start with ranged attacks." I said. Pichi looked back at me and nodded. "Pichi, use thunder wave!" I yelled. Pichi charged up electricity, then dispersed it in a wave formation in the the direction of the Dragonite. "Now, thunderbolt!" I shouted. Once again, Pichi stored her energy. She then let it loose at the Dragonite.

The dragon moved forward, apparently angry at us for attacking it. He kept walking towards us. "Pichi, iron tail!" I yelled. Her tail turned to steel. She jumped at the Dragonite and tried to hit him, but he caught her tail mid flight. He tossed her aside like she was trash that no one wanted. "Pichi!" I yelled. I tried to run towards her, but the dragon blocked my path. He picked me up by my shirt collar and raised the fist covered in ice. As soon as it was about to strike, a rock hit him. He turned around to see Shade, but he waved her off. He dismissed the ice punch and grabbed my belt. It had all my pokeballs on it. He threw me towards a tree and began sending my pokemon out. First my Noctowl, then Furret, and Togepi, and finally, my trusted Gardevoir. He broke all of their pokeballs and then came for me.

"Please, no! I'm sorry!" I yelled. I didn't know what I was sorry for, but I felt it helped the situation. It didn't. His fist caught fire as I realized he was using flame punch. He snarled down at me and raised his fist. I closed my eyes and prepared for my impending doom, but it never came. I opened my eyes again to see it's face in a state of shock. Frozen in place. Then it started to bend back. And even more to unnatural stages. I heard the cracking of bones and the ripping of flesh. And finally, he was enveloped into a small black ball. I looked at Gardevoir and realized, this was her black hole. She closed it to the size of a pin head (As she could never fully close it) and let it sit there. Blood started dripping from the hole and onto the ground. That can't be right. Black holes suck everything in and never let anything out. What's going on? I thought. I dismissed the thought and stepped past the gathering pool of blood.

I stopped right in front of Gardevoir. My eyes began to water, and I hugged her. "Thank you." I said as she hugged back.

I heard her voice fill my head. It said, You do not have just me to thank, thank Pichi and Shade too. Shade was the one who helped me with the black hole.

I broke from the hug and went over to where Shade was tending to Pichi. I gathered them in my arms and brought them close to my chest. "Thank you." I said again. I set them down and looked for Noctowl, Furret, and Togepi. But found they were gone. I climbed into my tent and laid down. Soon, Gardevoir, Pichi, and Shade came in and laid down around me. I just could not get the thought out of my head that I was almost killed. But thankfully saved by Shade, Pichi, and Gardevoir. Maybe sleep will help. I thought. With that thought, I closed my eyes and felt the embraces of my pokemon around me tighten. "I love you guys." I said before drifting off to sleep.

Author's notes:

So, you met the rest of Gold's team, three of which went away. And now Gold is traumatized by knowing he was almost killed. At least he's got his pokemon. In the next chapter, I was planning for a little 'night out' to cheer Gold up. So, we'll see what happens then. If you like, good for you. If you dislike, leave a comment criticizing me on how I can get better for future stories. Thank you all!
