#2 of Two Halves of the Same Whole

Part two in my combined story

_ _ I woke up to see the woman from the forest with her hand on my chest. Her touch was gentle and caring, but at the same time there was tension. I almost attacked her when I saw the gash along her face. Remembering that I had done this, I stood up slowly, trying to flash a smile at the woman, then I started walking out of the building. As I left, I saw trainers grab the spheres from their clothes. I stopped stiff when I felt something behind me. I turned my head and saw the woman nearly run me over. She grabbed me and pulled me out of the building.

"Alright everybody calm down he's already mine, nothing to claim here." she nervously laughed, while practically dragging me away from the building.

As she dragged me into a private area I said, "I'm... sorry... I did this to you. And you still are trying to help me?"

She paused for a second, letting me go, then replied, "well I didn't want you to get captured, and plus you cared enough to get me some help."

I tried to fathom the fact that this human would try to do any more for me than leave me in the hands of the "trainers," as she called them. I just stared for a minute, a lump growing in my throat. I quickly broke down crying right in front of her.

"I'm worthless! I couldn't even defend those I loved! And all I had to do was leave a scratch on a human!? That's all it would have taken to protect my family!?" I wailed with my face in the dirt.

I felt my face being lifted out of the dirt. I could barely see the woman smiling at me.

"Hey buddy, it's all okay now." Her voice was shaking as she picked me up off the ground, hugging me, "Yeah you may of scratched my face up, but you also made sure I was alright."

She stared directly into my eyes, I felt as though she pierced through all the defenses in my head.

"I'm sorry for what happened, and I'll stop chasing you down." She said, tearing up slightly.

I looked back in her eyes, composing myself as I did. "No. I'll come with you. It's the least I can do. Besides, you said yourself that I'm in no condition to be on my own."

As I said this I realized that one of the trainers had followed us. He had realized that I had no owner and threw a sphere at me. In that moment, as the sphere flew towards my face, I saw my entire life flash before my eyes, the day it all started, all the way to the day my parents were captured and then to this moment. I had failed to protect the forest, I was weak. Now I was going to be captured, forced to do the bidding of humans for the rest of my life. Until another pokemon put me out of my misery. The sphere hit me and I saw a bright light. Next, I was surrounded by walls. I had to escape. I saw the walls closing. I ran to the edge where they were closing, but I was too late. I was trapped. I beat the wall. There was a large round disk which I remembered the human pressing before throwing the sphere. I focused all my energy, trying to relax as I charged up my aura. I knew I didn't have much time. The disk was just about to finish sealing when I threw all my focused energy at it. The light which seemed to indicate how close it was to closing went out and the wall opened a crack. I jumped into the crack and worked my way out of the sphere. As I did, a bright light became all I could see. Then, I was back in the world. I looked around and saw the trainer who had thrown the sphere. I limped toward him, holding his sphere in my paw.

"You will not leave this place standing human! You dared to step out of your set boundaries by trying to enslave me!" I said with pure hatred in my voice.

The man froze in fear as he heard me speak. I grabbed him and threw him high into the air. He screamed and hit the ground with a dull thud. I set him on his feet and focused my energy into my paw, making myself more deadly by the second. I thrust my hand towards his face, but something stopped me from killing the man.

"You're better that that!" The woman squeaked."You're better than that!"

"LET ME GO! HE STOLE MY PARENTS IN THEIR SLEEP! HE DIDN'T EVEN GIVE THEM A CHANCE!" I yelled. "He... sold them as slaves..." I choked out.

"I..." She started saying something, but hugged me instead, while avoiding my chest spike. She moved her head next to mine and whispered in my ear, "your parents wouldn't of wanted you to murder him, and I definitely didn't want you to."

I calmed down a bit when I realized she was right. My parents would never have wanted me to kill a human. I simply returned her embrace, crying. I didn't know what to do anymore. Kill the humans, let them live. Trust the humans, then get attacked by one. Why couldn't I make the right decisions? I needed to trust my instincts. My instincts told me that I should stay with this woman.

"I... I need to stay with you... If you will let me after all I've done..." I said, holding back tears. "I don't know what to do in the world."

"Trust me, I won't ever put you in a Pokeball. Hell, I don't even own one. So if you stay with me, you will be completely free to do as you wish." She said after a time then yawned. "Hey I really need to head home, you wanna come?"

I looked up at her and I nodded, knowing that if I tried to say anything I would break down crying again. I then proceeded to followed her as she led the way. We walked for a while in silence, but the silence did all the talking for us. As we got closer to the house one thought formed in my mind I would find the man again. I didn't care what my parents would or wouldn't say. The man had robbed my entire life from me. He deserved worse than death and I would be happy to supply it. We eventually reached the house. The woman opened the door slightly, then turned to look at me. I stared back at her, waiting for the inevitable. She was going to say she didn't trust me enough yet. I was sure of it.

She turned around after a few moments and walked in the house. "I know it's not much, but welcome home anyways." She said as the house magically lit up. "Oh yeah, I never asked but do you have a name?"

I hesitantly stepped in the house behind her. "I don't any longer. My name left the day my parents were taken. My pride and honor with it." I said solemnly. "What about you? I know it is traditional for all humans to have names."

She cheerfully responded "my name is Maggie." She then walked out of the room. "Well what should I call you then?"

I couldn't use the name I left behind so long ago, but it was the only one I knew. "Lugio. You can call me Lugio.
