My New Best Friend Chapter 10: a beautiful "kiss" and an electrified water battle!

Everything was black and it smelled weird, like wet dog to be more precise. He could barley move. It was like if all his little fingers were paralyzed and his body was stiff. He felt his fur humid. His nose started picking up his own scent. He was the one that smelled after all. He difficultly opened his crimson eyes. He focused his sight and noticed a white plaster ceiling on top of him. The room was quite dark. He carefully moved his little puppy head to the right. He found a big blackout curtain covering a big window; light was creeping out by a little space in the middle.

"Rio...rio?" he said faintly. (Alex?...) "rio rio riii?" (Are you here?)

The puppy lifted himself from a bed and tried to get down. He panted heavily. It was like if he was lacking oxygen.

"Don't get up!" said an unfamiliar voice, as the Puppy was about to get down.

"Huh? A-Alex?"

"Don't force yourself! Lay down!"

"Who-w-who is it?"

The puppy´s vision focused on a corner of the room, the darkest one. Where two big blue eyes stand out of the dark. It was a quadruple dog like pokemon. His deep voice indicated it was a male. Riolu stood seating on the mattress staring at the unrecognizable animal.

"Who are you? Please don't hurt me!" cried the dog

"Don't worry! I won't hurt! I´m here to take care of you!" said the male

"What?"

"I'll introduce myself! My name is Manectric! Your master, Alex, told me to take care of you while you recover!" he said happily.

"Wait! Recover? What happen?"

"You don't remember kid?

"no..." said Riolu shyly.

"Well...you did lost a lot of oxygen...I guess that justifies your memory lost!" said Manectric.

"Oxygen? Could you please tell me!!!!!"

"ok ok!" look, apparently, somehow you fell into a water stream and got trapped underwater by a water mill. The mill squished your paw and that's why you couldn´t swim. You drowned, but we got there in time to save you."

"but...I drowned...?"

"Yeah, but Alex came quickly and took care of you."

"oh..I see...I guess he was really mad at me again...I always seem to get in trouble..." the puppy whispered...he made the electric type feel a tear in his heart.

"oh no little buddy! He was very worried. He even saved you! And he was very happy to see you were ok...well.... sort of..." said Manectric trying to cheer Riolu up. "Hey um also, you cant really walk because of your paw.... so I will carry you for a while...Alex´s orders!

"um...but who really are you? I didn´t know you were on the team..." asked the fighting type.

"oh that! I guess I forgot! I'm not really in your team; I'm on Zara´s team. She´s your master's sister.

"Alex has a sister?"

"Three actually!"

"And you are one of her pokemons?" said the puppy. He had a hard time understanding and concentrating. His head was still spinning after drowning.

"Yeah...I guess that kind of makes us half brothers!" said the electric time with a big smile on his snout!

"......" the blue dog stayed quite.

"Well...we´re technically not half brothers per say, but...um...ah you know what I mean!!!" he said with an exited tone.

".....still nothing......"

There was an awkward silence between the two that lasted about a few minutes. Both just stood there, exchanging glances every once in a while. Riolu was clearly uncomfortable. He wasn´t sure if he could actually trust Manectric. I mean...he just appeared in his room out of nowhere...what if he is lying? What if he wants to hurt him? Well, he really had no choice but to believe in him... soon Manectric noticed the puppy's uneasiness and decided to talk to him.

" Hey don´t be shy! I don't bite! Well...if I have to bite I bite...or if they order me to bite I bite...or sometimes when my fur itches I bite myself...and sometimes I playfully bite my trainer as a form of affection...and sometimes I softly bite others when I play with them...and some--

"Ok!!! I get it you "don't " bite!

"*Chuckles* well, I'm glad you know it! Said the male lion, always with a smile on his face.

After Manectric finished laughing there was a small moment of silence, which was interrupted by Riolu´s growling stomach. The puppy blushed slightly and rubbed his arm. He was quite embarrassed. But helpfully, Manectric just made him feels comfortable.

"Hey, now that I think of it...Alex and that girl Jade are having lunch two blocks away from here. Maybe we can catch them up and have some lunch for ourselves! What do you think? Should we go?"

"um...sure...why not..." Riolu was still a little doubtful of Manectric, despite his cheerful and light-full personality.

"Alright then! Hop on!" he said as he lower himself so Riolu could seat on his back. As he positioned himself and got comfy, he noticed Manectric´s fur was very soft. Other thing he noticed was that this particular Manectric was "different" than the rest of his species. This Manectric had black fur instead of blue, and his bright yellow mane was more orange-ish. Riolu couldn't help but asking.

"Why are you different?" he said softly into Manectric´s ear as he walked towards the door.

"What do you mean?" he said listening intently.

"Before Alex adopted me, I fought one like you...but it was blue...not black! Why are you different?" he said with a very innocent voice.

"oh you mean my color? I´m a shiny pokemon!!!" Manectric said rather happily.

"Shiny? But you don't sparkle!!!!" Riolu said as he pouted a bit.

"Ahahaha!!! You little kid! Being shiny doesn´t mean you sparkle! It means you just have a different color! We are also quite rare."

"oh I see" said the fighting type in understanding.

"well....shall we?" said Manectric as he opened the door with his paw.

"sure!" said Riolu, sounding a little bit more confident.

It was a sunny day in Pastoria and Alex and Jade were having lunch at Joanne´s, an Italian restaurant near the pokemon Center where they were staying. They had left the gym and decided to have another date, while Riolu recovered. Alex doubted it, he didn't wanted to leave Riolu alone, but Manectric offered his help.

"I can believe you actually won the match! It was sooooo close!!!!" she said exited.

"I know!!! I had no idea Prinplup was so ruthless! Taking both of them without a scratch! And how Manectric dealt with Gyarados!? IT WAS AWSOME!!!" Replied Alex.

"jajaja, guess you really don't know your pokemons real fighting side until you have a great battle!" said Jade.

"yeah, exactly!"

Both continued their conversation as they gobbled down their food. Alex was eating lasagna and Jade was eating some fettuccini Alfredo. They were seating on the terrace of the restaurant when a familiar howl caught their attention.

"MANNMANEC!!

"RIO RIII!!!"

"huh?" said both humans as they turned their heads away.

"oh Riolu! YOUR FINEEEEE!!!!!" suddenly Alex launched himself over Riolu, carefully grabbed him and hugged him tight. "Im so glad you are fine! Are you hurt badly? Does something hurts? Can you see well? What about your breathing!!!--

"Alex he looks fine, don't worry!" Answered Jade in a reassuring tone.

"*chuckles* sorry I got carried away!"

"rio ri rio riii rio RIO RI RIO IRRI LU LUI LIO RIO LIU LUUU RIO LU UUUURIOO LIII!!!!!"

The puppy started chanting as he pulled Alex shirt towards him, as if asking for something.

"Huh, is something wrong Riolu?" said Alex

"I think he wants to know what happened to him. After all, I bet you he is quite confused..." Concluded the female.

"Ohh! Is that what you want sweetie?" asked Alex as he gazed into Riolu´s blood colored eyes.

"RIO RII LU!" he chanted as he nodded slightly his big and black blue head.

"Ok then! I´ll tell you everything!"

Flashback:

"GOD I SWER IM GONNA KILL THAT DOG WHEN I FIND HIM!!!" Alex stormed and started running angrily at the woods!

"Alex wait up! I´m sure he is just around the area!" said Jade trying to calm him down.

"NO! YOU DON'T KNOW HIM! Ughh he wanders off always, ALL - THE- TIME!!! I bet he is already lost and crying lonely in God knows where!!"

" That's not true! He couldn't have gotten far! And if you don't calm down, it will be harder to find him! Now breathe slowly, and lets split up, ok?"

"BUT!-

"no buts!!! Just calm down!" ordered Jade.

".....................OK FINE! But lets get going before something bad happens to him (too late!)

Both grabbed their pokeballs and tossed them in the air releasing their pokemon.

Staraptor came out of Alex pokeball while Jade´s Aerodactyl came out of the other.

"Staraptor! We lost Riolu! Help us search for him in the sky please!"

"Aerodactyl, follow Staraptor!" exclaimed Jade. "Ok! What now?"

"we just look...trust me, he can be anywhere..." said Alex as he started running forward. "ok! Said Jade as she followed quickly behind.

Staraptor and Aerodactyl sorted the sky while Alex and Jade covered the ground territory. It seemed like a full hour had past by since they started looking, but it really was jus a couple of minutes.

"ughh were could he be?"

"I don't see him anywhere?" said Jade.

"We haven't checked the forest yet, he could be in there". Said Alex

"I really don't think we should go in there..."

"Why not?" asked Alex

"The pokemon inside there are very territorial. They attack anyone who enters."

"WHAT!?!?! WITH MORE REASON WE SHOULD GO!!!!"

Alex started sprinting down the hill towards the entrance of the forest, Jade following him. They were about to go in when Staraptor grabbed Alex´s shirt with his claws. He was lifted in the air swiftly.

"Staraptor!!!! At least give me a heads up the next time!!!!!" he said as he climbed on the birds back

"Start star!!" He said chuckling a bit.

"They kept flying when Aerodactyl and Jade caught up to them.

"What the hell was that for? One second you are next to me and then you flew away?!?!?!?!" she said screaming a bit.

"I thing Staraptor found something...just follow him!"

Staraptor flew with an incredible speed along the sky. In less than a minute, the crew got to the scene. As the bird pokemon landed, Alex found himself staring at a horrible sight.

"RIOLIU!!!!!!!" he screamed hysterically as a handful of tears started running down his cheeks. However, he didn´t hesitate. Not one thought crossed his mine as he dived in the water. The human started swimming down the small pond. He searched quickly for his dog. He moved his head right and left until he found the watermill. He swam towards it. When he reached the little fighting type, he saw that the wood arm was squishing his paw. The adrenaline increased in his body as his air escaped, but the boy wasn´t giving up. He literally broke the wood in half, freeing the pokemon. In no time Alex grabbed Riolu by his left arm and swam back to the surface.

As both got out of the water, everything happened in a matter of seconds. The injured fighting type was placed on a small sweater Jade was carrying. The crew waited a few moments to see if he could breath on his own, which obviously he couldn't. As soon as the situation started to feel real, Alex mounted Riolu and grabbed his snout and started kissing him. It seemed that at first, but then the rest realized what Alex was trying to do. He was saving Riolu´ s life once again, giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He breathed air into the puppy´s lungs repeatedly for a good 2 minutes, hoping for a signal that he was still alive. He stopped the resuscitation for a moment to check on poor Riolu. He stared intently at his chest, waiting for any breathing signs. He lowered his head towards Riolu´ s torso, checking for additional wounds to treat. Besides the injured paw, the puppy seemed in a "not so bad" condition. Alex moved his gaze and watched Riolu´s head once again. He felt distracted for a moment; thinking about how on earth could let Riolu go through all of this. However, his thoughts were interrupted as the puppy started coughing out water.

"coughiq iwoq ciugh shiwo rio eio lu! Cough ugh iugh uh rio lu..rio" the voice was almost silent.

"*Heavy sight* OH MY GOD!! Riolu sweetie you´re fine thank you god!!!" Alex wrapped his arms around his pokemon and started crying. His tears wet the puppy´s fur even more. The embrace was quickly interrupted as Jade separated them and covered Riolu with a towel she had (apparently she has the handy stuff with her!) the dog was carefully wrapped around the cloth like a newborn baby. Jade lifted him and pad his back, causing him to cough more water out.

"We need to get to the Pokemon Center!" she said

"Lets go now! Staraptor return

"You too, Aerodactyl, return!"

After the pokemon were brought back to their capsules, the couple went running towards the hospital.

it was about 4:30 when Alex, Jade and Riolu arrived at the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy had attended them quickly and Riolu was currently on the room behind the counter. As you would imagine, Alex, impatiently waited outside, hoping everything turned out ok.

"God this is all my fault...I am the worst taking care of baby pokemons! And now Riolu is stuck with me! I always loose it and never properly treat him! I just hope he isn't mad at me...

"Don't talk like that! I bet everything you are saying is false! Besides, Riolu is probably really scared, the least he would think about is being mad at you, which he isn´t! Said Jade.

"Still! If I had watched him more closely we would not be in this situation!"

"Don't be that harsh on yourself! Pokemon can be hard to take care off!" she said

*sigh* I just don't know if I can get through this!...maybe Riolu will be better off with someone else as his trainer.."

"WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!" screamed Jade! "WHY WOULD YOU EVEN THINK OF THAT?"

"Why do you care? You just met me!!! Its definitely non of your business if I want to get rid of Riolu o not!!! Said Alex with a strong tone, but without shouting.

"...."

"look! I know it sounds harsh but-

"NO! you´re right I shouldn't care." She responded. She sounded annoyed, a bit angry.

As both ended talking, Nurse Joy entered the room pushing a hospital cart, Riolu lying on top. The nurse talked with Alex and gave him all sorts of directions on how to take care of Riolu and that he would be unable to walk for the next couple of days. Alex was relieved that his pokemon was ok, but it bombed him that Riolu wouldn´t be able to fight in the next gym match!

"(don't worry Alex! You don't need Riolu to win this match! I will just use Staraptor instead)"

As Alex and Jade walked down the hall, Alex turned his head towards the counter. On the top, bunches of pamphlets were displayed.

"Jade could you take Riolu with you, I forgot to do something, you just go ahead" she looked at him in the eye with a suspicious look, but agreed without question. The female exited the building as Alex approached the counter; he grabbed a turquoise pamphlet and exited, following Jade...

_ End of Flashback:_

it was about 6:45, and the sun was going down. If Alex wanted that gym match to take place today he had to go now. He really didn't wanted to battle, but something just told him to go anyway. The crew traveled to the gym. They all gazed at the particular appearance of the building. It was made out of natural rock, and an artificial lake surrounded it. On top, it had the typical poke ball and thunder sign. It also had a steel bridge that connects it to the land territory. Alex stayed there, watching the gym, trying to figure out what tactic he should use.

"C'mon lets go!" screamed Jade. Alex instantly snapped out of his mind and followed.

Once inside, Alex and Jade were hypnotized by the insides of the gym. It was even more exotic in the interior! The arena was floating on a huge Olympic pool, and a customized glass light was located on the center of the battlefield. The benches for the audience were made out of rock as well and lots of seashells and corals emerged from the pool. After finishing their look around the room, a big muscular man shouted at them.

"EHEM! Can I help you with something?" said the man

"um...I´m looking for Crasher Wake, the gym leader. I'm here for a gym match!

"You just found him! Now! Get on that boat and travel to the arena!" he said as he pointed to a white boat near the shore.

"You´ve got to be kidding me! Isn´t there like a bridge or something?"

"you get your ass on that boat or I wont battle you!" said Crasher wake with a harsh tone.

"Fine! I'm coming!" screamed Alex. (they have a bridge at the entrance but not one on the inside? Wtf?!?!)

Since poor Alex had no freaking idea how to use a boat, it took him about 15 minutes to cross the water lake, but he finally made it to the arena. Jade and Riolu seated on the bench, watching the match. In the far lateral end of the battlefield, a girl using a seashell bikini and a garden pantie chanted the rules.

"It will be a three on three battle! Only the challenger can switch pokemon, and the challenger is also granted the first attack! May the battle begin and good luck to all!"

"All right! Lets battle!" shouted Alex as he threw a pokeball in the air! As the capsule opened, a bright spark of light appeared. As the light faded, a big noble bird was released. "Alright! Lets show them a good battle Staraptor!"

"Quagsire! Lets go!" Crasher wake threw his pokemon into the arena as well!

"Staraptor use brave bird!"

"Quagsire use water pulse!

As the trainers ended their commands, the giant bird engulf himself into a blue fire, and the water type shot a bubbly aqua orb. It wasn´t hard for Staraptor to doge the attack, but crasher wake would not give in that easy.

"Continue using water pulse! Until it hits!" Suddenly, millions and millions of water bombs were dancing in the air as the bird pokemon dodged them all. Staraptor swiftly evaded every attack and got close enough to land his attack!

*BOOM *!!!! Staraptor stabbed Quagsire on the stomach with his flaming beak. Soon enough, the water/ground type was on the floor. But it wasn't nearly over yet.

"use rock tomb!"

"CRAP!!" screamed Alex

*BAM!!!! * - in less than a second, tons of rocks fell on top of Staraptor; squishing his body in its entirety!

"NOOO STARAPTOR GET UP!"

"Way too late kido! Use yawn!"

Quagsire opened its mouth and blasted what seemed like a white orb towards Staraptor. As the white sphere struck, Staraptor started feeling drowse, but managed to free himself from the rocks and get away.

"Fly high Staraptor!"

"STAR STAR!!!" chirped the flying type as he started flying near the celling of the gym.

"it no use kid! Use rock tomb again!" as the rocks materialized out of thin air, Alex made his move.

"CLOSE COMBAT ON THE ROCKS!"

"STARRRRAAAAPTOOOOOORRRR!!!!"

*BAM *. It was like watching a rain of rocks fall as Staraptor did kicks and blows. "Alright! NOW USE GUST AND BLOW THE ROCKS IN THE AIR!"

"THE HELL?" screamed the gym leader as he saw all rock chunks fly up high. "Quagsire dodge!

"way too late old man! Brave bird NOW!" screamed Alex. Again, the bird engulfed himself in a blue flare, but what crasher Wake didn't saw coming, was that the magnetic felid surrounding Staraptor by using brave bird, was enough to make the rocks levitate. Not only Staraptor was using a powerful attack, but also a rock shield protected him!

"oh shit..." sight crasher wake as quagsire was hit by the attack.

"Quagsire is unable to battle, Staraptor Is the winner!" exclaimed the referee

"good battle, didn't see that one coming!" exclaimed Crasher. "but this Is barely the beginning! FLOATZEL COMMON! "

Round two had began: crasher wake had released his second pokemon, Floatzel; a orange otter like pokemon with a floating devise attached to his neck and back, and finally with some blue fins on its hands.

"Looks though! I may have to try this time!" said Alex, things were getting cocky...and Crasher Wake wasn´t liking it!

"wait for it kid!"

"whatever! As he finished talking, Alex noticed Staraptor was fading. His head bobbed to the sides and he was making a big effort to stay awake. \ **Sigh* * come back Staraptor, take nap! Prinplup you are up! As the switch was made, the battle started.

"FLOATZEL, USE SWIFT!

"BREAK THEM WITH DRILL PECK!

Suddenly, Prinplups beak turned a bright shade of white, and grew in length as a bunch of sharp stars headed in his direction. Effortlessly, the penguin broke every single shooting star that was thrown at him.

"use drill peck again on Floatzel!"

"counter with ice fang!"

*CLANG * - both pokemon engaged in close combat, each firing blows and attacks! It kept on for a few moments until Prinplup managed to land a hit! Right in the chest, a deep wound was left in the otter's body. Without any command, the penguin pokemon continue to peck and hit the opponent! Every swift and blow hit harder and harder.

"Alright Prinplup use--"

*Bang * things got even rougher as a sharp and steady steel wing smashed Floatzel against the wall. As he crashed against the structure, tiny bits and pieces of rock fell on top of him.

"The hell...? Prinplup listen to me use--"

BANG** , BANG, BANG, BANG!** More and more steel wings penetrated on Floatzels body

"FLOATZEL NOOO!!!" screamed the gym leader as he saw his pokemon slowly collapse on the floor.

"Floatzel is unable to battl--

*BANG* !!!

"PRINPLUP! ENOUGH!!!! AS MUCH AS COOL AND STRONG YOU WERE, THE BATTLE IS OVER!!!

BANG** , BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG!!!**

"ONE MORE AND PRINPLUP IS DESCUALIFYED!!!" Yelled the referee.

"PRINPLUO STOP" After a while, the penguin settled down and got ready for his next victim.

"This is the last match! Begin!" communicated the female referee.

"this time you aren't getting so lucky you kid! GYARADOS MY ACE, COMMON LETS WIN THIS!" Again, a pokeball was thrown in the air, releasing the final opponent. Alex had anticipated this. He knew about Gyarados. But he never though it would be so huge and intimidating. As the white light faded, the water snake was standing proudly before Alex and his companion. Let round 3 begin!

"Prinplup! Water puls-

"SMASH HIM!"

"WHAT THE F--

*SQUASH *!!!! Alex definitely did not count on how fast Gyarados could be! In less than a second or so, Prinplup was smashed to the grown.

"NOW HIT REPETIBELY!" commanded Crasher Wake

SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH, SQUASH!!!!

"FUCK! STOP DOING THAT!!!"

"Oh I just though of giving you a taste of your own medicine!"

"...."

"Finish him off Gyarados!"

"Drill peck! And Look up!" Prinplup then understood what Alex wanted to do. he rapidly performed his move and looked straight up, waiting for the next blow. Fortunately, both Gyarados and Crasher were reckless and too stupid to notice the sharp "needle like beak" that was underneath them

*SLASH!*

"GYAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR!!!!!" the snake pokemon yelped in pain.

"Better make sure to stand on a solid ground next time waky!" Exclaimed Alex with a loud voice.

"this isn't over!"

"im afraid it is! Prinplup, water pulse and them steel wing!"

"Gyarados use earthquake!"

"WHAT?!?!?!" shouted Alex, he didn't know Gyarados could learn such move, he started analyzing but was soon dropped to the ground as the gym started shaking and shaking, pieces of boulders falling of the roof, and the ground and dirt cracking before his eyes. Prinplup ceased his attack as he was un-stabilized by the quake, and soon was difficulty avoiding the chucks of rocks coming his way. At some point it just got to hard to move fast in order to doge all objects, and Gyarados was not playing a child game. The snake opponent started whipping its tail back and forth, over and over until Prinplup couldn't take it any longer. The penguin was smashed against the far end wall, just like Floatzel had been...the earthquake movement stop, everyone got on their feet only to see the battle had ended, and Prinplup had lost.

"PRINPLUP! SHIT! Ughhh damit...return buddy it ok!" chanted the young trainer as he returned his pokemon. "All right Staraptor, its time to fight again; come out!" the pokeball was thrown into the air and exploded as Staraptor materialized once again in the battle arena. He certainty wasn't looking good. He was rather tired already.

"ok Staraptor, we just need to tire Gyarados a little bit, can you handle it?"

"Star....Staraptor.. \ **Breathes heavily* *

"I would like to see you try kid!" said the gym leader.

"with pleasure! Air cutter!" Staraptor started forming razor wings in the air and starting launching them towards the opponent, who couldn't doge many of them. Unfortunetly, Staraptor was too weak now to inflict any harming damage. The attack went for a while (15 minutes) and Alex was already bored, so he decided to take a risk.

"this isn't working...Staraptor use brave bird!

"gotcha!"

"Huh?"

"ICE FANG GYARADOS!

"SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT!!! STARAPOR DON'T DO BRAVE BIR--

*SLASH * (WAY TOO LATE!)

Gyarados grabbed a good bite of the birds flesh as it threw it towards the ceiling. Unconscious, Staraptor was unable to avoid the impact while he fell...

"Staraptor is unable to bat--

*SLASH \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ **!!!*

"CRASHER WAKE!!! JUST BECAUSE YOU´RE THE GYM LEADER ITDOESNT MEAN YOU SHOULD FOLLOW THE KIDS EXAMPLE!!!! Yelled the Referee.

"Sorry...got carried away!"

"AS I WAS SAYING, STARAPTOR IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! GYARADOS WINS THE ENCOUNTER! WHICH MEANS THAT THE NEXT BATTLE SETTLES THE MATCH. ONLY ONE POKEMON EACH...NO SWITCHES! BEGIN!

FINAL ROUND! (soooo exited!!!! Who votes on Alex? Who votes on Crasher? No one? Ok...)

"alright Gyarados, lets take this home baby!!!"

"you´re my last chance buddy...don't fail me...MANECTRIC I CHOOSE YOU!"

as the male trainer released his grip and let a yellow-gold pokeball slip out of his hands, a big feline like pokemon with an orange mane and a dark skin intimidated even Gyarados itself. The transparent blue eyes of the electric type showed off confidence and strength. Things were about to get interesting.

"Looks like you went for the type advantage, that's not gonna help bud"

"I don't depend on types, so you better watch it!"

"too much talking! Lets battle! GYARADOS, USE ICE FANG!

"Manectric, doge and use thunder wave"

Suddenly, Gyarados fangs turned a white-blue color, and bits and pieces of ice were materializing on them. It didn't hesitate as it launched towards the feline. However, to the leader´s surprise, Manectric was way too fast for Gyarados. The black lion sprinted all around the arena, making the snake dizzy. As soon as he lost balance, Gyarados was paralyzed by the thunder wave, and was pushed to the grown by Manectric´s strong paws. The snake remained there in pain for a while, but managed to get back up.

"now use Thunder fang! Lets win this!"

"MANEC!!!"

Manectric started charging forward with an incredible speed. It looked like the battle was about to end. Gyarados was paralyzed and nothing would stop Manectric. Or that's how things looked like. Only 6 more feet until Manectric landed his charged fangs on the water type, but as he continue to run, a huge flash of light emerged from the ground and the sides of the arena. The flash blinded the lion, making him slow down.

"SLAM HIM GYARAGOS!"

*SLASH \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ ***SLASH* \ **!!!*

"FUCK! I CANT SEE ANYTHING!" screamed Alex.

The flash went away, and everyone noticed that the glass custom light that was on the arena, had been illuminated Everyone had lost track of time, and night had fallen, causing the lights of the gym to automatically turn on. Unfortunately, Manectric was standing on the lights when they were turned, which is why he was blinded temporarily.

"THAT IS NOT FAIR!!!! WHO THE HELL TURNED ON THE LIGHTS!!?!?!?!?!"

"its automatic kid, its just bad luck! NOW Im gonna end this! GYARADOS EARTHQUAKE

"SAY WHAT!?!?!?!"

Alex had no time to make his move as he was thrown into the ground along with his pokemon. Manectric was suffering greatly from the ground type move, and the waters surrounding the battlefield started shaking heavily. As the move ceased, the electric type got on his feet again.

"Looks like he isn't finished....alright then...EARQUAKE AGAIN!!!!"

"WAIT NOOO"

BAM!!! BAM!!! BAM!!! BAM!!!

The same thing happened over and over for a good 10 minutes. Crasher wake was surprised that an electric type had enough strength to survive the move more than once. Alex himself was on the edge. He was about to forfeit the match. He couldn't see someone else's pokemon get hurt because of him. As he raised his pokeball to return Manectric, he saw something interesting. He continued to stare at the lights located on the arena. And then...

"THAT'S IT! MANECTRIC BREAK THE LIGHT NOW!!!!!

"MAAAAAANNNEEEEEEEECCCTTRRRIIIIIC""

CRASH!!!!

The broken glass was sent flying and the electric currents of the lights were unleashed. Manectrics mane started glowing as it absorbed the electricity and his health was restored!

"DAM YOU KID!!! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!" Yelled Crasher Wake.

(to himself) I can't believe I'm that smart. Though Alex

"NOW USE ELECTRIC TERREIN AND DISCHARGE AT ONCE!

"SHIT NOOOOO!!!!

Crasher wake fell speechless as the whole arena sparked in a yellow color and his ace pokemon was thrown into the water (which was bad enough considering electricity is much more powerful under water) finally, the match had ended with a close call and a victory for the young trainer.

"GYARADOS IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! THE WINNER IS MANECTRIC AND THE MATCH GOES TO ALEX!!!!" announced the refree!

"YEAH! TAKE THAT YOU SUCKER!!!!" as Alex chanted and hugged Manectric, Crasher Wake approached him.

"that was quite a battle!"

"Im very surprised by your tactics, and it is an honor to reward you with the fen badge!" he said as he handed over the blue silver prize!

"hello number 5!" said Alex as he held his fifth badge.

It was 9:00pm when Alex and Jade left the gym. The girl left of headed for her house, and Alex went to the pokemon center to settle down. He walked with Manectric and Riolu for 15 minutes until he reached his destination. He got a simple bedroom with a nice view and a queen-sized bed. There was also a comfy sofa by the wall. He carefully laid the injured Riolu on the Couch and put him to sleep. The dog refused to, but after petting his back and head for a good hour the puppy fell asleep against his will. After that, Alex took a long shower and prepared for his well-deserved sleep. As he exited the bathroom, he saw Manectric already lying on the bed, half asleep. He got on the bed next to the lion; he then noticed the pamphlet he had taken from the hospital that morning resting on his backpack. He reached for it and looked for the section he was interested in. as he petted the lion's mane, he read quietly the tittle of the paragraph:
