As we walked through the streets, we scanned around, keeping an eye out for danger. We didn't bring anything with us, since we couldn't go trick-or-treating...or weren't we?

"Hey guys," I suggested, "I know Master said we couldn't, but, how about we 'treat' ourselves tonight?"

Everyone looked at one-another. They seemed a bit uneasy; especially Shag, which surprised me a little.

"Who knows," I continued, "maybe someone's secretly giving out tracking chips inside candy in order to manipulate the children's minds and make a child army!"

"You do have a point, Jay," Hunter agreed; "but even I believe that that's a little over-the-top, won't you say? Besides, who would want to do that anyway?"

"Lots of people!" I shouted. "How any villains are always on your tail twenty-four seven?"

"Barely any, actually. There's only Parvo, mostly. And that marine guy."

This is getting nowhere.

"I see what you're getting at," Hunter continued, "but rules are rules, and we must follow them. That's our job."

"Last time I checked," I interjected, "your job was to protect the people around the world, no matter what the cost."

"That is true..." Hunter trailed off.

"So, what's the harm in breaking a rule or two? C'mon, loosen up a little; Master's just an old couke sometimes anyway! Sometimes even _I_wonder what the hell he's talking about."

The Road Rovers glanced at each other once more.

"What d'ya say, guys?" Hunter asked.

"I think we should listen to Master and continue with what we were doing," Colleen replied.

"Ya, same here," Blitz agreed.

"Exile?"

Exile stared back. He had no idea what side to choose from: there was Hunter and the others, who always listen to Master; and then there's me, his boyfriend whom he loves and cherishes, who wants to all of a sudden become a bad boy and break a couple rules.

We waited for a good minute or two, waiting for his response.

"I'm sorry, Comrade," he finally spoke. "But ruleskys are ruleskys."

"Psh! Fine, see if I care!" I waved them off and started on my own. Screw them. They have no idea what fun really is.

I stormed off in a huff, thinking about what to say to Exile when I got back.

As I walked down the busy sidewalks, hours later, which were filled with laughing children, I heard a familiar noise. I turn around and load and behold, Exile comes driving down the empty streets in the Land Rover.

He pulls up next to me within seconds. "Hop in," he orders.

I comply and enter through the passenger side.

I slammed the door and we drove off. We were silent for most of the trip, but Exile finally said something after a while.

"You still mad at me, Comrade?" he asked.

"Not really," I admitted. "I know that you were trying to do the right thing, and I can't blame ya. It's just...it's just that you guys are sometimes, I don't know, really tense at times. Like I said to Hunter earlier, you guys to relax a little every now and again."

"You don't understand," he murmured. His eyes remained locked on the road throughout our whole conversation, not looking at me at all; not even for a second.

"Did you guys find anything out of the ordinary?" I asked.

"Nope," he replied, his face stern.

We were then quiet for a while.

"Exile," I finally managed to say, "why'd you pick me up just now?"

"Because I needed to talk to you," he replied. "I couldn't wait until you got back, whenever that was going to be. Speaking of which, where's your trick-or-treating bag?"

"I couldn't find one," I muttered.

"You know, you probably could've been kidnapped and killed while you were looking for it for all we knewsky. For all I knewsky!"

"Yeah, but Exile," I started, "I'm not a little kid anymore. I'm eighteen years old; you've got to learn to trust me. I need to make my own decisions in life. If something goes wrong, then it's my own fault, plain and simple."

"Jay, you died on me!" he shouted. "Do you even know how devastated I was? I was losing my fucking mindsky!"

Shit. Forgot about that. "Exile," I attempted to soothe.

"Don't you 'Exile' me! After that wonderful performance, I don't even know if I can trust you at all!"

Ouch, that hurt. "But..." I trailed off. Tears started to brim now.

"I'm not finished!" he continued. "What about you cutting yourself, huh? Were you even thinking about me then?"

I couldn't respond. How could I? As I thought about it, I wasn't thinking about Exile at all. I was only thinking about myself. I told him this already.

My dark past was now quickly rising, begging to be released once more. Tears were starting to stream.

"EXILE, DO YOU HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH MY WHOLE FUCKING LIFE!?" I screamed. "I WAS FUCKNG ABUSED! I HAD TO FEND FOR MY FUCKING SELF! NO BODY FUCKING LOVED ME! NOBODY!!!"

Exile grew quiet. He stopped the vehicle and turned to me. He saw that my face was beet red, covered with streaming tears.

"Jay...I..."

"I'M NOT FUCKING FINISHED! EVERY NIGHT I THINK ABOUT KILLING MY FUCKING SORRY ASS SELF! WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT ANYMORE!? NOBODY FUCKING LOVES MY SORRY ASS!!"

"THAT'S NOT TRUE!" Exile screamed as well. "WE, THE ROAD ROVERS, LOVE YOU AND EVERYTHING YOU DOSKY! YOU'RE KEY TO US! YOU'RE OUR SECOND OWNER! YOU CARED FOR US WHEN OUR OWNERS COULDN'T!!"

He lunged at me and grasped my shoulders firmly. "Don't you even think about killing yourselfsky," he said through gritted teeth. "I won't let you."

I was finally able to regain (a little bit of) control of myself. "Why not?" I whispered.

"Because I love you, and I don't want anything to happen to you." He stared into my eyes. "I love you more than the entire worldsky. I love you more than the Road Rovers. I would give up being a Road Rover just to be with you."

I stared back at him. Was he serious?

"You really mean that?" I asked.

"With my heart and soul."

I continued to stare. This "man" before me was willing to give up what he loved most...for me. I smiled and placed my hands on either side of his face. I wanted to embrace this moment. I wanted to see his lovely face once more - his beautiful, beautiful face.

"Exile...I...I love you," I whispered.

"I love you too, Comrade," Exile whispered as well. He placed his face closer to mine, and we kissed passionately.

I never want to let this "man" go. He's my everything. I realize that now. He's willing to do (almost) anything for me; and I love that.

"Let's get home," he murmured.

"Screw trick-or-treating," I agreed.
