Tragedy at a newly inter-special high school could just end up mending a broken friendship.

This story took a LOT longer than I expected, but here it is! I'm not sure whether it was worth the wait, but I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did writing it!

It was an average fifth day of the human week. Glenn, at least, that what all his friends called him, as his true name confuses the average tongue, was quick to grab his clothing, backpack, and other assorted school accessories. He took a quick peek in the cave's pond, at his reflection: his scales looked red and healthy, his blonde mane groomed, and the fledgling dragon felt as good as ever. As always with human apparel, his tail rode a little uncomfortably atop his khaki jeans, and it took some work to get his wings tucked in proper to his green polo shirt. After all was said and done, Glenn took stride into the main den of the cave. He idly waved to his parents, whom were still tending to the new egg clutch as they normally did. He could hear them muttering about the sight of their son in "filthy human garbs," but he dismissed it entirely. It wasn't anything different than any other day. His parents were always the old-fashioned type, like how they insisted he stay, being the runt of the clutch; and how they refused to wear clothing because it felt, to them, like it was "against tradition." That was always a strong arguing point with them, tradition. He headed out of the cave, and ran over to the bus stop to get picked up. He'd fly to school, but it had been banned ever since last semester's senior prank.

Ever since laws were passed granting non-human species equal rights to public services and accomodations, an influx of new students have been arriving at Havenford High School. Even now, into second semester, he can still see new people having arrived, ranging from mammels, to reptiles, every kind of race you could think of. It made things more than a little cramped at times. Wandering the campus, Glenn was still getting used to his new schedule. He looked at a crumpled schedule paper, and noted that he needed to go to A225, Mrs. Hathaway's Health Ed class. He had met her before a few times before he was in her class. Very nice lady, one of the few human teachers in the school that didn't have a bias against non-human students in her class. He ran over to A building, with eyes all around him staring, judging, but it wasn't like it was any different than usual. He was always used to drawing unwanted attention.

The class topic was on a sexual safety course. It was rather odd, it being one of her first major topics in class, but Glenn supposed it was all but natural, considering mating season was just around the corner, for him and other species as well. "Now, it's important to understand that when a female is in heat," Mrs. Hathaway started, "to allow them space as they deal with their problems. It's not appropriate to be mating with the closest fertile hole you can smell, especially at your ages."

The other students snickered like little children, giving the teacher a 'No fucking way, you are out of your mind' look. Glenn couldn't completely blame them; disregarding nature's urges is like ignoring the fact you need to breathe. What he could blame them for was their constant throwing things at her and being overall assholes. Regardless the topic, Hathaway was their teacher, and deserved respect. It was shocking the woman kept her calm demeanor despite all the annoying troublemakers.

"Now, if you'll turn to page 297 in your textbooks, we'll be going ove-"

A knocking at the door inturrupted Mrs. Hathaway's explanation, and someone in a fancy suit appeared to be at the door. Some people start murmering, apparently something about the man being one of the assistant principals. She stepped out with him, and the two converse. Glenn's extrasensitive hearing could make out some words about class space, and reassigning students. The teacher nodded, and she stepped in with a dragoness whom looked to be rather fancily-clad. Glenn got a good look at her face, and then he realized.

It was her.

Sierra, one of Glenn's oldest friends, now turned snotty brat. She wore very preppy clothing, tailor-made to fit her, it appeared. Her silver scales were accompanied quite well by her snowy mane and earthen eyes. Very petite horns curved from the sides of her head, barely half a foot long, and appeared well-kept. She and Glenn locked eyes for a second, and she sneered at him. Their friendship ended ever since their parents had started to debate traditions versus accepting human customs. He still can't believe some of the horrible things she said of him, it's like she had become a completely different person.

"Students, this is Sierra. She just had a schedule change due to new arrivals, so she'll be joining us for Health Ed this year." The classmates all gave Sierra a lukewarm reception, some not even recognizing what's going on, more preferred to just laze about. Glenn was the only one to fully acknowledge her, but for less than welcoming reasons. Sierra sighed and glanced back to the assistant principal.

"Are you sure there're not any other classrooms available for transfer?" The man shook his head, forcing a disgruntled moan from Sierra as she sat herself as far away from Glenn as possible. The two locked eyes for the entire class long, as Mrs. Hathaway went ahead with the lecture. This was going to be a rough semester for Glenn, he could feel it already.

Perhaps the cafeteria at your school was heavily crowded, there being more people than there were capable of having seated all at once. It's rather common with a school, so many students abroad, they have to cut them into groups to maximize available space.

For the students at Havenford, they could only get so lucky.

With the influx of new students, the cafeteria was redused to standing-room only. The lines wrapped across the entire cafeteria; some of them even went so far as to spill into the hallways. The entire room was flooded in chatter, from barking, to chirps, to mrowls, it was like being at an overpopulated zoo. And this was just a third of the new student base. Glenn stood in line with his good friend Riley, a kind-hearted human girl that respected Glenn, unlike the other rather racist humans.

"I almost feel sorry for these ladies," Glenn said as they waited through the line. "It's a madhouse in here, how does everyone even get to eat?"

"Hey, the lunchladies knew what they were getting into," Riley rebuttled as she grabbed whatever meat-related food she could stuff on her plate. "They knew the amount of students needed serving, so they basically asked for this."

"I suppose, but...still." He took a few small pieces of food and a bottle of plain milk; Glenn was never a heavy eater. He nods his head to the elderly lady giving him his main meal. "Thank you, ma'am."

"Oh, you are quite welcome." The lady smiled, appreciating Glenn's respectful gesture. Glenn and Riley bobbed their way through the crowd of students, making their way towards the gym. With the lack of space for students, the gym is required during 3rd through 4th block for the excess students, usually the non-human arrivals; unsurprisingly, human students are given higher priority on who gets seated in the cafeteria. Even with that, though, Riley, much like some other humans, preferred to eat with their more beastial friends, having not so negative a view as others of their kind. As they made their way to the gym, through a crowd of people, Glenn's tray got yanked from his hand, not to be seen again. There went his food.

"Damnit, not again." Glenn rumbled as the two entered the gymnasium. It was just as packed as the cafeteria, flooded with students finding places they can sit and relax with friends. There were many a clique to go around, students preferring to be with others like them; some were intermingling with the different races, but very few. Riley tossed Glenn a chunk of ham and a spare bottle of chocolate milk.

"Don't worry, this is why I brought extra." Riley smiled to the discomforted dragon as she bit into a turkey leg. "Ish shum good shtuff, try ith!"

Glenn couldn't help but smile back. Sweet girl, horrible manners. He ate his ham and drank the milk rather quickly, then proceeding up the bleachers to his normal spot, already occupied by a clique of preppy dragons, with Sierra being in the middle of them. She glanced down to Glenn, and gave a little smirk.

"Grr..Sierra, can you tell your 'friends' to make space? You know I always sit there."

"Well, now you don't." She giggled a little, her cronies following suit, before a large, muscle-clad and brown-scaled dragon stood between her and Glenn. A crooked smile swept across his face.

"I believe the little lady said this is her spot. Get moving, faggot."

Glenn grinded his teeth, but began to wear a calm demeanor, giving the beefy dragon a smug grin. "Please, enlighten me. What would happen if someone said 'No,' eh?"

The brown behemoth cracks his knuckles, his grin turning to a vicious sneer. "If they did, I'd break their damn neck."

Glenn felt emboldened, and decided to press his luck with the beast. "You won't lay a finger on me. You know what the penalty for school violence is. Face it, you talk a big game," Glenn emphasized his point by prodding at the dragon's chest, "but you're just hiding insecurity behind that bulk."

The brown-scaled monster growled at Glenn, "Fuck off before I make you, piss-for-brains!"

Glenn was about to say something quite nasty in return, before Riley stopped him. "Just quit it, Glenn. He's not worth it, and niether is she." Riley gave a very solemn, almost dissapointed glance at Sierra. She didn't quite know a lot about Glenn's falling out with her, but she knew they were once friends. "Let's just go someplace else."

Glenn, finally coming to reason, nodded to Riley. "You're right, let's get going." But not before final words been said, Glenn turns towards Sierra. "You have a good pick of friends, Sierra. They're just as much bullies and petty jerks as you are. Well fucking done."

Sierra looked downwards towards the bleachers, a look of shame on her face. She didn't even make eye contact with Glenn, perhaps thinking he may have had a point. Glenn spat at the bigger dragon's foot, a small little ember sparking off of it and having singed him. This further enraged the bully dragon, and as Glenn turned away from him, the bully let out a fierce roar and a torrent of flame at him and Riley! They both ducked, but the blast went long and spreaded across the bleachers, the other students having seen the fire and ran towards the exits in a panic. Riley screamed and ran down the emptying bleachers, avoiding flames as she went, as the entire gymnasium went up in flames, even despite the sprinklers doing whatever possible to douse it. The jock dragon grabbed Glenn by his throat, a dire look in his eyes, and started to squeeze, harder and harder. Glenn was starting to feel a lack of consciousness, air unable to reach his lungs, and resorted to biting down into the brown dragon's arm, forcing him to release his grip. Meanwhile, Sierra and the others in her clique all made their way down the bleachers, but not before a railing collapsed and pinned Sierra down, knocking her out! Glenn was thrown down the bleachers, dead into the raging fire, and the jock dragon made his way towards the exit.

"Wh-what about Sierra!?" One of the other dragonesses asked in a panic.

"Bah, fuck the bitch! Everyone for themselves!" The bully dragon snarled back.

"B-but we can't just leave her-"

*"Watch me!" * He ran out, and the clique, reluctantly, followed close behind, leaving Glenn and Sierra to their fate. Glenn was barely conscious, bleeding, and could hardly see Sierra through the fire. Anger mounted towards her over years of dispute battled with his moral fiber, and ultimately, his morals won out. He ran over, his clothes alight and smoke clouding his lungs, and struggled with the metal bar on Sierra's leg. It takes some time, but the metal bar finally slid off the dragoness' leg, but rendered her unable to walk. He got her up on her feet, the both of them heaving and coughing in the fire raging through the gym, barely hindered by the pitiful sprinker water. He needed some way out of the fire, as the main exits were all blocked off by falling debris and flaming tiled floor. He settled on the closest door he could find...too bad for him and Sierra, it was the storage room. Glenn was about to detour out of the room before a crashing sound could be heard, and chunks of debris fell in front of the doorway. Luckily, the fire wasn't reaching the storage room, but this now posed a problem:

They were trapped there.

Glenn looked over Sierra's leg, inspecting the wounds. She hadn't quite come to from the impact, and her whole body was covered in burnt scales and singe marks. While dragons naturally breathe fire, it's only until they reach their adulthood, which could take decades, for them to develop a full resistance to it. Glenn was just as singed, if not moreso, but he didn't have time to check himself. As much as he hated Sierra, he couldn't let her die from her injuries, especially her leg. Damn, her leg was gored; the debris that fell on her not only knocked her out on impact, but left a deep, unnerving wound in her leg, going all the way down to bone. Glenn forced back the urge to vomit, and carefully dug around in the wound to pull out any leftover shards. He comes across a long one, and carefully pulled it out of her leg. The resulting pain shot through Sierra like a bullet, bringing her to, her first reaction being to punch Glenn square in the jaw.

"Wh-what the fuck are you doing!?" She screamed in panic.

"Keeping you alive, thanks for asking!" Glenn retorted whilst rubbing his face. "Nngh, I liked you better when you were unconscious.."

Sierra tried to get up, but pain shot through her leg, forcing her to take a knee. She scrambled toward the blocked-up doorway, clawing at the debris in front of it in vain. "Goddamnit! SOMEONE! GET US OUT!" She did this for quite some time as Glenn tended to his own wounds instead. Realizing it was hopeless, she turned to Glenn with a fire in her eyes. "This i-*coughs* this is your fucking fault!"

Glenn looked almost apalled at Sierra's outburst. "I just saved your life, and all you want to fucking do is blame me for shit?! Fuck you!"

"You just had to cause a scene with Roy, you couldn't just walk away!"

"It's the principle of it!" Glenn yelled in outrage. "And besides, if you didn't surround yourself with shitty jerks who don't even like you..."

"Hey! They're my friends, and they care about me more than you do!" Glenn forced back a laugh at that comment, almost shocked that Sierra just said that. Did she honestly believe that?

"So is that why they left you to die?"

Sierra fell silent. Glenn trumped her there, he had a point, but to hell if she was willing to admit it. The two sat facing away from each other, as smoke plumed up to the ceiling. Thankfully, sulfur couldn't necessarily kill them in large doses...but lack of oxygen could.

The two spent their time in silence, eager for rescue if it ever did come. The power went dead in the storage room, the only light to speak of being the fire raging outside. The air was rather thin, something Glenn was accustomed to, but Sierra wasn't. She would go into a coughing fit every so often, which made Glenn not help but feel a little sorry for her. He decided he couldn't stand the sight of it, and looked down to his scorched shirt, ruined and practically useless anyway. He tore it off his chest, his bare, red scales glowing in the dim light of the flames, and his wings able to stretch out comfortably, and fastened the ruined shirt into a makeshift rag, giving it to Sierra. "Here, breathe into this." Sierra looked back at him and scoffed, turning away from him once more. Glenn sighed, "Y'know, I'm trying to help you here, and giving me the cold shoulder won't get us out quicker."

"Leave m-*coughs* just...leave me alone."

"Fine, you wanna choke on your own flem, bored and alone, that's your choice. But you'd probably feel better if you'd just let me help. And then, just maybe, we can talk?"

"Oh, fine." Sierra yanked the cloth from Glenn, and hacked into it, leaving a large, black smudge on the impromptu rag where she coughed. A disatisfactory grunt emitted from her before turning back to Glenn with a faint nod. "Th-thanks..."

"It's nothing. 'sides, if you died, I'd be rather lonely in here." Glenn chuckled at his own bad joke for only a brief moment. "Eh, sorry.."

Sierra giggled just a little before turning herself around to face him. "You're okay, Glenn. And...I guess we could talk. You know, to pass time."

Glenn smiled and turned around as well, sitting cross-legged in the center of the room. "Wouldn't have it any other way." He grabbed a basketball from one of the racks, and tossed it at Sierra. The unprepared dragoness eeped very squeakily before accidently popping it with her clawed digits. Glenn couldn't help but laugh. "I didn't even think a sound like that could come outta you, ahahah!"

"I-it's not..." Sierra's flushed expression diminished as she started to laugh along. "Well, maybe it is pretty funny."

Glenn grabbed another basketball, and the two started to idly talk between one another, simple questions and stuff, as they tossed the ball between each other. The conversation started to branch out into more personal details, catching up on all the time they spent apart. An hour went by, but it didn't feel so long to them, what with how comfortable they were starting to get around each other. They were laughing, teasing one another; you could barely even imagine they had ever fought, not from how happy they were. At least, as happy as two people stuck in a raging fire outside could be, given the situation at hand.

"Fuck, we've been so stupid," Glenn said as he threw the basketball back to Sierra. "All this bad blood, and over what?"

"I don't even remember what it was you said to me." Sierra caught the ball and threw it right back to Glenn. "All I remember was it was bad..."

"Eh? And what could've that have been?" He inquired as he caught the ball himself. "Last I checked, you said something pretty shitty about me and the folks.."

"Wh-what?! I wouldn't say anything like that!" She nearly shouted it as she grabbed the ball on the throw back and set it to the side. "My parents said y-"

"Wait, your parents told you that? My parents said that...fuck, wait..."

The two have a near-simultaneous realization, and instead of anger, they just laughed it off.

"By the ancients, we have been acting dumb about this," Sierra said, trying not to shed a tear laughing. "And to think, we promised each other not to let our parents drag us into their petty squabble!"

"Y-yeah, to think.." Glenn's smile faded away as he felt ready to say it. "Listen, Sierra, I'm sorry abou-"

"Don't be, Glenn. It's not your fault."

"It is my fault!" Glenn started to curl up a little as Sierra tried to place a hand on his shoulder. "I shouldn't have pushed the envelope with that guy."

"Roy was an asshole, like you said." Sierra moved up closer to Glenn. "You had every right to defend yourself."

"Hmph, yeah..and look where that got us." Glenn looked away from Sierra in embarassment and shame, Sierra's only response being to pull the big dragon close for a comorting hug. He quickly warmed up to the embrace, and returned the hug. She smelled so nice.

"You know, Glenn, you look rather handsome without the shirt..." Sierra giggled as she pulled back from the hug.

"Heh...yeah, I guess."

They spent even more time, simply talking, enjoying each other's prescence. Given that only a while ago they wanted to ring each other's necks, this was certainly an improvement, if anything. But they both couldn't shake the worrying thought that no one was going to rescue them. It's been so long, what if they just couldn't find them? Or didn't care? Sierra looked over to Glenn at one point, a genuine look of worry on her face. "Glenn...do you think we're going to make it?"

The question caught Glenn off-guard. What could he say? That they were going to be rescued, which, for all he knew, would be simply lying to her? That they were going to suffocate and die in there? He remained silent, which made Sierra figure what his answer was. It certainly didn't surprise her, considering that was her same conclusion.

I'm sorry, Sierra, Glenn thought to himself. I really wish I knew.

Glenn had nodded off in one of the corners at one point, hours going by with no rescue in sight. He had already given up hope of escaping, Sierra as well. The air was incredibly thin, to the point that his own saliva was the only thing keeping his mouth moist. Thankfully, the fire had already died out, the occasional crackling of embers giving off some dim light to the darkened room. Glenn stirred awake, stretching himself out with a contented yawn.

"I see you're awake, Glenn," Sierra said from somewhere behind him. "Listen, I've been thinking..."

Glenn brought himself upright so he could turn to face Sierra. "What is it, Sie-" He nearly bit his own tongue at what he was seeing:

Sierra was stark naked, save for one of her stockings, wrapped around her leg wound like a bandage. Her scales twinkled in the light of the embers. "D-do you like it? M-my body, that is..."

"Sierra, what're you..." Glenn was certainly surprised by Sierra's question, almost as surprised as seeing her unclothed. "What's this about?"

"Well...I've been such a bitch to you, and even after that, you still went to save me." She crawled over on top of Glenn, resting comfortably in his lap. A few fingers made their way into Glenn's mane, stroking it gently.

"I-I couldn't just leave you th-there..." Glenn was visibly nervous, his whole body heating up in a way he had never experienced before. A surge of warmth flushed into his loins, which made him feel...odd, almost wanting. It was a foreign sensation for him, to say the least.

"It's more than that, Glenn. We were always such good friends, and even now, you've been so nice, which just...well, it made me realize.." She pulled herself very close to Glenn, resting her head on his chest. "I've never felt more at home than with you."

"R-really?" Glenn knew that Sierra always seemed a bit attracted to him, before they had their falling out with each other. But he didn't think it like this.

"If we die in here, Glenn, I just want you to know...I'm glad it's with you." Glenn could feel a very warm liquid on his pants leg where Sierra was sitting. He thought about it for a second...wasn't this something Mrs. Hathaway was talking about? Then it hit him...she wanted to mate with him!

"S-Sierra...we don't have to do this. It just...it doesn't feel right."

"But I want to, Glenn." Sierra's tail curled around Glenn's leg in the most intimate fashion, rubbing herself against him. "If I'm going to die, I want to say that I at least did it with someone I care about. And Glenn...I care about you more than anyone in this world."

Glenn wasn't sure if she truly meant this, or if this was the fear of immenant death talking. Nevertheless, he could feel a sort of...compulsion. He breathed in deeply, drawing in what little air was available, and caught whiff of her amazing scent again. She smelled so good...but Glenn was still hesitant. "I...I don't know, Sierra. I've never, well...done it before."

"Neither have I." She ran her fingers through his mane still, purring contentedly. "Which is why I want to have done it with you. No bickering parents to keep us from each other, no prying eyes to stare at us and judge. We're all alone, Glenn...and I want my final hours to be memorable. Please..."

"I...alright." Glenn didn't know whether it was he had the same feelings for her, or if his newfound urge is compelling him to mate. Whatever it was, he knew for certain...if this is going to be it for them, he wouldn't mind enjoying his time with a dear friend. Sierra loosened the buckling on his jeans, sliding them off with her tail. His own tail moved around comfortably now, with his genital slit now bare to the thin, crisp air...and a little friend poking out to greet the world. Sierra started to playfully prod at the member peeking through the slit, until Glenn's knotted shaft was at full mast, dripping eagerly from all the attention.

"It's...bigger than I would have imagined." Sierra smiled and stroked the dragon cock gingerly, forcing a lustful groan out of Glenn. "It's perfect."

"So, uh...where do we start?" Glenn asked, rather confused. "I'm a little new to this.."

"I...I think I need to be laying down, like uh...this.." Sierra rolled onto her back, bringing Glenn to rest above her. He was a bit lightweight for his size, so his weight wasn't a burden to the needy dragoness. Glenn sat up around Sierra's thighs, lining himself up with her cloaca.

"W-wait...erm, Sierra. Are you sure you want to do this?"

She pulled Glenn down to her, parting a kiss on his scaly maw. "More than anything."

The invitation was all Glenn needed. He started to rub his shaft against Sierra's folds, slowly to start. He was a bit worried about hurting her, so he wanted to be extra careful. This being both their first time doing it, he wanted her to enjoy herself. His hands wrapped around her chest to her back, hugging her close and nuzzling against her. Instincts started to kick in, and he soon found himself nipping at her neck, sighs of pleasure escaping her. Sierra grew anticipated for what was to come, and it showed; the dragoness was utterly soaking Glenn with her secretions, pushing her hips against him every so often. They were both so needing, so ready...and that's when Glenn went for it. He slowly pushed his tip at Sierra's entrance, wanting not to go too fast, lest he hurt her. Little by little, he pushed just a bit more of himself into her cloaca, until he could feel himself pushing at her hymen. He looked up at her, and she gave a moanful nod. She was ready for it...and so he pushed his shaft in, breaking Sierra's hymen. Sierra arched her back and cried out, the pain subsiding quickly into joyful bliss.

They were now committed, having rid of their virginities. Glenn pushed slowly, getting another inch in with each thrust. Sierra helped him along, pushing her hips into him with each thrust. With yet another inch to go, he hilted at her cervix. This was when Glenn's instincts started to take full control over him, and his gentle thrusts started to quicken in pace. Sierra started to whine and pant, gripping onto Glenn as they began to mate. Wet slapping echoed throughout the ruined room, the two grunting and moaning as their hearts raced in unison. They had never felt joy like this before, and it was ever more heightened by the fact that they were mating with someone whom they cared about, perhaps even loved. Glenn climbed closer and closer towards his climax, as was Sierra.

"Nnngh...oh...yes, yes, keep going!" Sierra wasn't being very cohesive through the thick of it, what with Glenn's massive cock parting her lower lips over and over in such a satisfying motion. She grinded her hips against the dragon dick, a gush of feminine juices arriving with her orgasm. She cried out at the top of her lungs, engulfing Glenn's member in gooey bliss. "NNGH! Fuck! YES!"

Glenn wasn't far off himself. No matter how much he thrusted, though, he was always at that edge, numb with desire. He needed something to drive him to climax, and in lusftul desperation, slammed his tip past Sierra's cervix, making her orgasm again. Sierra was senseless, babbling in nirvana-like estacy, and as Glenn pushed himself deeper than the dragoness' body would allow, he unloaded his seed directly into the waiting female's womb. His knot slid into her effortlessly, tying them together in mindless bliss. Their feral-like roars of passion died down into spent whimpers, hugging each other close. Sierra gave a parting kiss onto Glenn's lips before they both drifted off into sleep, her murmering final words:

"I love you, Glenn."

Darkness. The embers had died out, the fire well beyond finished. The smoke had cleared up, and the air was near to unbreathably thin. Sierra and Glenn were still asleep, almost in a death-like state of subconsciousness; still tied to one another, a testiment to their deed.

Then finally, light. Voices.

"They're in here!" "Jesus, Glenn!" "Dear God, how long were they trapped here?" "That leg needs medical attention!" "Get them on stretchers!" "I can't, they're knotted together!" "Put 'em on one stretcher, get 'em outta' here!"

Dozens of voices, some familar, some not. Glenn could barely open his eyes, making out several different figures, one looking a bit like Riley. He and Sierra are put onto a rather large stretcher together, carried into the back of an ambulance. Riley stood outside, along with hundreds of other students and faculty, including Mrs. Hathaway and Roy. Medical and rescue personnel were all yelling at each other, scrambling to get aid to the couple.

"They're on death's door! We need to get them to the hospital, stat!" "There's no time, they need help now!"

He wasn't sure what would happen next. In a way, he didn't care. So long as he was with Sierra, his mate, nothing else seemed to matter. And he knew that she would feel the same way. As long as they were together, everything would turn out okay. He was sure of it.

I love you too, Sierra.
