#5 of Sage's story

Part 5 of my first story

Sage and I both sat down at the table and dug into breakfast. Sage was more careful about how she ate so as not to get her clean fur dirty. After we finished eating, I cleaned the dishes and then came to Sage with an idea.

"Hey Sage! Want to go out for a bit?" I said.

"Sure! Where will we go?"

"I was thinking we could go to the mall."

"Sounds like fun! When are we leaving?"

Instead of directly answering her, I placed her on my shoulder and walked out the door. She happily sat and watched the people going about their daily lives. As we walked, Sage realized I was wearing a jacket and jumped into it to snuggle with me as we walked. I didn't mind in the slightest and I actually enjoyed it. We reached the mall and I let Sage out of my jacket. Her eyes widened when she saw the size of the mall.

"Ready to head inside?"

"uh... yeah. Wow this place is big!"

I placed Sage on my shoulder so she could get a good view as we walked. Then, I stepped inside. We had come on a relatively quiet day, but there were still a lot of people in the various shops. I brought Sage to the food court, ordered a smoothie to share (I mean really. Smoothies are huge!) and then asked Sage where she wanted to go first?. There was a map of the mall on the table so she could see all she stores without trouble.

"Could we go to this one?" She pointed to a spot on the map.

"Anything for you."

We finished our smoothie, then I carried Sage on my shoulder to her selected destination. It was a small shop with many items to boost power and evolve pokemon. Sage hopped off my shoulder and ran back and forth from one item to another while I looked around. The shop was small enough that I didn't have to worry about losing Sage as I looked around. While I looked around, I saw Sage stop and look at a belt. It was a Beautiful black belt that boosted the power of fighting types. After a few moments Sage sighed and continued to look around at things, but at a slower pace. After a few more minutes I looked at Sage and asked, "Ready to head back?"

"If you want to."

_ _ "In that case, hop on in!" I said while making my jacket more welcoming for her. She happily jumped in and quickly snuggled against me. I smiled and started heading back home while Sage peacefully fell asleep. I arrived home and walked upstairs to the bedroom and gently placed Sage on the bed to finish her sleep. I then went down to my garage where I kept some woodworking tools. I grabbed my finest wood and started cutting away. I skillfully cut each piece and put them together. I had almost finished the table when I realized I needed one more piece. I grabbed my wood and cut the last necessary piece. While I was cutting it, I heard a loud noise outside. This threw off my attention and I Jammed my finger into the saw, almost cutting off the tip in the process.

"SAGE!" I yelled at the top of my lungs! Pain. So much pain. I looked at my finger and saw the blood being forced out in a small jet. Upon seeing that, I fainted. I woke up and my vision was very blurred. I could tell that I was in a small, white room. To my left, I saw what looked like a window. When I looked to my right, I saw a tallish figure next to my bed. I stared for a while, letting my eyes adjust. My vision finished clearing and I saw a most surprising sight. In front of me was a Lucario.

"Sage? Is that you?"

"Yes, it's me... how are you feeling?"

_ _ "A bit queasy, but other than that I'm fine" I replied. "But what happened to you?"

"I... I saw you on the ground, with a small pool of blood coming from your hand... I saw the desk you built for me... In that moment, I realized I needed to help you. Thus, I evolved and rushed you here..."

_ _ "Wait. You forced yourself to evolve? B-but that's unheard of!"

"I thought you were dying. You needed help."

_ _ "I... really... can't thank you enough." I said, pulling her into a hug. I realized this was a mistake immediately, stopping as soon as I felt her chest spike stab me slightly. I maneuvered slightly to avoid her spike and hugged her tightly. I loved her like my own daughter and I would make certain that her life was worth living. I would not allow myself to remain weak any longer. I had let Tali die, and now I was distressing Sage about me.

We finished out hug when a nurse entered the room. "You're free to go. You only had minor damage to your finger. We've treated it, so you should be good."

I thanked her and left the hospital with Sage.
