Chapter 10 - Just another Rescue Mission

The Prowler settled softly to the surface of the planet, not even breaking the soft soil as it landed. There was a brief flicker of static as the shields disappeared and the cloak replaced them, as the bulkhead shifted sideways, followed by a ramp which dropped to the ground. The three soldiers calmly walked out of the cover, checking their surroundings, guns sighted.

"Clear," Skye whispered into his com.

"All right stick to the trees and we should be fine, I'm not detecting any mobile troops on long range sensors," Alex reported.

The three of them broke off on different into the surrounding forest, making their way to the nearby lab. While running something blinked on Skye's HUD, he instinctively threw his fist up, the stop moving now motion.

"What o you have?" Spencer's voice cracked across the com.

"Something just tripped of my suits' electromagnetic scanner." Skye reported.

"I think it could be a minor force field, used to keep the wild life away from the lab, the animals on this planet are huge." Alex explained.

"Okay, let's keep moving then," Skye agreed.

They continued to walk through the underbrush, easily slipping through the shadows of the massive trees. As the time passed, a better defined trail could be seen, it was almost like a road cut through the underbrush.

"This defiantly has to be a road they use often, its still showing heat from the last time a truck went across it." Spencer sent the thermal readings to the others.

"Yeah, I think this must be the way they move raw materials from the planet to the lab, aside from the air support the have this base should be really easy to capture." Alex commented cheerfully.

"Let's not get cocky too soon," Skye laughed across the com.

"There's the lab," Skye motioned to a small white dome shaped structure about half a kilometer away.

"Stick to the shadows, and stay close," Becka whispered in their heads.

"Thanks mom," Spencer chided.

"Well hey, I'm in here too, so try not to get all our heads blown off," she mock-pouted.

They three boys reached the building and quickly ducked into a service tunnel. Alex quickly pulled up the Specs of the lab and loaded a map up into their HUD's.

"This shouldn't take too long," Skye grinned.

As they walked through the building, they made notes on which passage was where and the rough size of each.

Skye made the same hand gesture again, they froze. "I've got three contacts, one around the corner left and two to the right."

"Got it," Spencer and Alex replied.

"Go," Skye ordered.

The three of them both did a roll across the floor, landing directly in the middle of their contacts. Six muffled coughs rang throughout the corridor as the three Draconians dropped to the floor.

"I wonder why Joey would have the Draconians as guards; I mean I know they're strong but dumb as anything." Spencer commented as they dragged the bodies into a closet.

'Let's keep moving," Alex recommended.

There was a bark ahead, someone was yelling at something.

Skye made the move, motion and together they silently raced down the hallway, and into what appeared to be a man made oasis. There were palm trees, rivers and even a waterfall amongst the heavy foliage.

There was another barking sound, defiantly Draconian.

The three made their way through the forest, until they came to what looked like a lab in the center, there was all the same equipment that had been used to make Skye, Alex and Spencer what they were today.

"This is defiantly the place," Spencer pointed to the only humans in the room, the scientists.

Alex was already feverishly typing away on his tablet, hacking into the system and pulling up the data on each of the test subjects. He politely gasped when he loaded the list test subjects.

"Half of these guys are adults, and the other half are like us," He croaked.

"The adults will already be set to fight they don't seem to have any emotions left when they transform completely." Skye offered.

"That's true, and I'm not looking for a fight with them any time soon, not after the last time," Alex grimaced at the memory.

"All right then, Alex pull up the area where they are holding the boys, and set a rally point in the HUD please." Skye commanded, "Spencer, you take the left route, I've got the right, we'll meet at the point; search for any new tech we can use."

"Roger," Alex and Spencer's voices cracked across the com.

The three boys took off in different directions, searching for anything new or useful in the lab.

Spence flashed and amber warning light, leaving the message, "Scientists are headed towards destination."

"Okay, set a new rally point to in the office just to the north of their room." Alex replied.

"Skye, it's like all the techs just got back from break this place is crawling now." Alex reported.

"I know I'm trying to avoid getting caught myself; you guys have the go ahead to kill if it keeps us in the dark." Skye replied.

"Roger," Spencer and Alex replied.

A few minutes later, Skye rounded the corner of the last hallway headed towards the new destination. As he was passing a room he froze, three shadows were rounding the corner up ahead, he had to act fast or someone was going to see him.

As the three guards passed the exact spot where Skye had been standing he let out a soft sigh as he turned around to see what was inside the room he was in.

"Who the hell are you!?" A voice screamed.

Skye jumped; pulling his side arm he flipped across the floor and aimed at the voice. It was a man who was standing over a small boy about fourteen years old. The boy was strapped to a chair in the center of the room. From the look Skye got of the man, he was up to no good; that and the fact that the boy was only in a pair of boxers, the rest of his clothes looked to have been cut off, and thrown to the side.

"Step away from the boy," Skye's voice commanded through the front speakers in his helmet.

"Yeah, right and who the fuck are you?" the man shouted, drawing a small metallic gun, and pointing it at Skye.

"Your worst nightmare," Skye breathed as he gracefully leapt off the floor and charged at the man.

He wasted no time in pulling the trigger, four muffled cracks was heard before Skye had grabbed the gun from his hands, broken his forearm and landed a good blow to his chest.

The man collapsed into a heap on the floor, Skye walked up to the boy, who had a look of fear and wonder on his face.

"It's all right, my name is Skye, I'm not here to hurt you, just to get you the hell outta this place.

After Skye had shattered the restraints holding the boy he helped him to his feet when he suddenly had an extreme feeling of vertigo.

'What's wrong," the boy gasped, as Skye fell to his knees.

"Skye you're bleeding," he whimpered.

"No I can't be, bullets don' pierce my skin, or armor." He chocked as he spat some blood out of his mouth.

As Skye looked down he was shocked to see that he was in fact bleeding, two of the four bullets had hit him and some how not only pierced his armor but skin too.

"What the fuck?" Skye mumbled.

Skye slowly stripped off his helmet, allowing his gold and brown hair to fall out; before he quickly removed his chest plate of his suit.

The boy gasped looking not only at Skye's incredibly developed body but also at the amount of blood covering him.

Making a quick judgment, Skye reached his finger into the bullet wound that seemed to be the shallowest and using all his stamina pulled the bullet form his chest. As he dropped it to the floor panting, he watched as the wound quickly healed over. The other wound was too deep to remove by hand.

"We gotta get moving," Skye commanded, sending the man down signal to the team.

Skye and the boy made their way into the main corridor and down the hallway to the meeting place where Spencer and Alex had already set-up and dug in.

"Skye are you okay?" Alex said running over to him.

"Just a flesh wound," Skye replied with a grin; followed quickly by a cringe.

"Why isn't it healing over?" Spencer asked walking up.

"It's the bullet," the boy finally spoke, "It's something that Joey's been working on for a while to make sure that he can penetrate the skin of a morph.

"How do you know so much?" Alex snapped.

"Well, because I was the morph he was testing them on," he spat, gesturing to the scars across his chest.

"Do all of the guards have these new bullets?" Spencer inquired.

"Not all of them do at the moment, he's in mass production though, has got a bunch of different factories making them now." He replied, "Oh and my names Evan, just to answer your question." He looked at Skye.

The three boys instantly glared at him, "How can you read our minds, those are private!" Spencer snapped.

"That's my morph skill; I can read minds and use telekinesis to an extent." Evan grinned.

"Well, then you may be some real help to us Evan," Skye grinned, patting him on the back.

"What about your chest?" Alex pointed to Skye's pectoral, still oozing blood.

"We need to finish the mission first, fill me up." Skye decided.

"All right," Spencer nodded, opening a fist aid kit.

"What does he mean fill him up?" Evan asked.

"Well we take this," Spencer said indicating the bio foam, "and basically fill him up with it, and it usually will keep people from bleeding out for a while."

"Really," Evan sounded hopeful, "Wish they had used that on me, instead of letting me bleed to a point where I'm out could and then they take the bullet out and let me heal."

"What were they doing to you in there anyways?" Skye asked.

"That man, the one you knocked out was the president of this facility; he runs it while Joey is away." Evan explained, "and he's also into us," he gestured to the four of them.

"So he's just another perv," Alex spat.

"Basically, yeah," Evan wrinkled his nose

"Should've put a bullet in his chest when I had the chance," Skye groaned.

"You didn't know," Evan patted his shoulder.

"Yeah well, let's just get to the holding cell and get those kids outta here." Skye changed the subject.
