#21 of Child of the Sands

HOO RAH! We FINALLY get to the part where you see Shou's shiny new hybrid form! I'm still astounded with the way it turned out... Shou's a brilliant artist <3

Remember to comment! Pretty please? Oh, and go fav the original image on Shou's page! https://www.sofurry.com/view/678499

She dreamed, briefly, but then felt a tugging on her mind that led her to the city in the sand. She was guided there smoothly following what sounded like a siren's song. Kalokin awaited her in the bare circle in the center. A chance thought flitted through her head then; that was where she would always find him: in the middle of her heart, her soul.

"Welcome, Shouyousei. Your organs are stable, almost completely healed. Your bones and muscles are well on their way to completion too. All that remains is your skin, your appearance, and I asked you here because I need your help with it. A lot of what I can do for your body is arbitrary, and I would be a poor guest if I redecorated without asking your opinion."

Contrasting his earlier, worn, tone, his voice was jovial. He sounded as if he were mere moments from bursting into laughter, as if the entire world was offered up to him on a platter. It was, in a way, because that was exactly how Shou herself felt. In a few short days, she had both discovered her dreams and realized them, and a future with her lovers gave her more than enough reason to smile back.

"Your soul is who you are, the sum of your character and everything that you think and do. Let's take a gander at yours. Envision yourself, if you please."

A mirror swelled up from the sand below. Shou looked at herself in it and saw herself as she always did. At roughly 5'1" she was on the short side for a wolf, and her grey fur pattern was almost blandly standard. The whorls under her eyes, and her black sclera were the only things that really set her apart from her kin. Limber and lithe, she knew her diminutive figure was curvy... Enough so that the other ballerina's in her company decided that she only got her parts by using those assets. Their jealousy was not unexpected... most ballerina were small of hips and chest.

The swell of her chest was 36DD, with a twenty eight inch waist, and hips that were thirty five inches. The measurements rolled easily through her memory, recalling the costume designers complaints of her figure, and the modifications her costumes needed when compared to other dancers in the company. The ruff of her fur on her neck continued into the dyed purple mane that half covered her eyes. Her figure in the mirror had started out indistinct, but as she rolled through everything that she knew about herself, it gained razor sharp clarity.

"Now what, Kalokin?"

Kalokin slithered to behind her, looking her reflection in the eyes as he gave a crooked smile.

"Yes, that's exactly what I thought the problem was. You're still thinking of yourself as a wolf. No offense, but you aren't a wolf. Not anymore. Not since you let me into your soul... thanks for that, by the way. Anyways, that was how you used to look, and as long as you hold on to that image, your subconscious will keep fighting me."

She winced then, still guilty at the reminder of what she had so recently inflicted upon him. It didn't seem like he'd endured any similar punishment, but the mere idea of her fighting him in any way shot pangs of discomfort through her heart. He noticed the wince and placed a hand on her shoulder, rubbing her comfortingly before slithering forwards to tap the mirror with a talon. The glass shattered, but the image didn't, and in the mirror's place was a full sized doppelganger of Shou. Kalokin snapped his fingers again, and the razor sharp details faded until they were blurred and indistinct.

"Now, there are a few things that are going to change, no doubt."

The doppelganger's tail lengthened and lost its fur in favor of scales until it was several feet long and it draped along the ground behind her a little. Her face became a bit more streamlined, less of a head and a snout, and more of a triangular extension of her neck; odd, but not to the point of deformity. The mouth opened wide for a moment, displaying all that would change there. Her bottom jaw stretched at the middle to show the break, and retractable fangs folded down from the top of her mouth. Her tongue did not split and fork, but it gained more length and freedom of movement, becoming prehensile.

"Right now, that's about what we're looking at. Your tail is definitely getting scales, and your legs, ears, and breasts are staying fuzzy, but everything else is open to interpretation. So, let your mind play havoc, and envision how you want to look at the end of this. One step at a time though, just think about where you want fur, and where you want scales.

Shou looked at the doppelganger that had formed, and the changed that had come over it. The length of the tail, the scales that had formed, the change to her muzzle and head. It was a curious look, and her ears perked forwards. What she wouldn't give for a pencil and some paper, she could just see where she could view scales. Glimmering glimpses mixed among her fur, with a fluffy tuft along the back of her tail. Moving to the doppelganger, she reached out to touch her other self. Fingers tracing in thoughtful patterns on where her mind came up with scales and fur. To her surprise, the mannequin morphed under her touch, gaining scales where her thoughts wandered. After a moment's toying, she stepped back to view her handiwork.

"I look almost like a wingless dragon... a furry wingless dragon... it's quite cute!"

He watched her trace patterns into her fur and laughed.

"I was going to say you looked similar to some of the lizard-kin, but a wingless dragon carries the same sentiment."

He watched her trace patterns into her fur and laughed. She blushed, but joined him in laughter all the same.

"Not that intricate, sorry. I might be able to make a few patterns with coloration, but your scales and fur will have to be in large patches. How about... this?"

Beneath his hands, the mannequin's form changed. Scales marched up her backbone in a column several inches wide, and claimed her entire head. Even her ears got very delicate scales in a fine mesh. The scales spread further, down her arms and all the way to her hands. Her fur extended upwards only as far as her collar bone on her chest, and hallway up her back, which gave the odd impression of a Lizard in a fuzzy, strapless dress.

"Or... perhaps..."

A second mannequin appeared, and it too gained detail beneath his hands. Scales started at her tail and continued their march up her spine, but just below her neck, they split sideways, extending across her back and the tops of her shoulders to cover her arms. Fur still covered her head, legs, and most of her body. Shou looked each over carefully before giving a shake of her head.

"No, I'm not fond of either of those... let's try..."

And she moved to one of them, smoothing fur across her torso and arms, but leaving the broad stretch of scales on either side of her backbone. She pulled those scales all the way up to the back of her skull and then contemplated the visage. Then, on a whim, she took a thumb to each eye, replacing the fine fur on her eyelids and around her eye sockets with black scales. The effect gave her eyes a shadowed, serious look.

"What about something like that?"

Rather than answer, Kalokin grabbed its neck for a moment, and the doppelganger came to life. It mimicked Shou as the mirror had, sweeping its long tail. Shou smiled to see it, and with that simple action, the almost foreboding face was transformed into a carefree spirit, a happy soul who had everything she wanted twice over and wanted the world to know it. Kalokin slithered over and loosely coiled himself around her, leaving his head draped over her shoulder. Shou gave a soft sigh of happiness, wrapping her arms around the coil of his flesh nearest so she could squeeze him against her. The smile on her face was gentle, and her eyes were warm as she nestled into his coils. She gave a pleased glance at the form she would be taking and her ears twisted a little as she leaned against him.

"Perfect... You will look stunning in your scales. Your mind is very clear as well, that's good. Now... for your body fat: specifically, how much and where. If you want to stock up or trim down, I can direct it to *exactly* where you want it, and keep it from where you don't. You're beautiful already, but it's rare to find a people who don't wish they could... improve themselves. Do you like how you are, or would you like to change a few things? Everything from here forwards is less... permanent. You can change your mind about the cosmetics later. It would take some work, but I could make it happen."

She thought about wanting to improve herself, how she had always felt she was too... much. Then, she recalled Khaesho's words, and now Kalokin telling her she was beautiful. Her cheeks colored under her fur and she tilted her head some in thought.

Her thoughts were abruptly halted when Kalokin casually slid a hand down her shoulder to fondle her breast. A surprised noise of pleasure escaped her and she glanced at him over her shoulder before murmuring uncertainly.

"I... there are several things I don't find pretty... or I find as too much... but... but Khaesho thinks I'm beautiful." The smile that touched her lips was small, but genuine. "So... so I think I'll leave things how they are for now."

Kalokin smiled broadly, squeezing her as he did. She chuckled warmly, rubbing her hands along his scales. She was snuggling into him and rubbing her fur into his scales.

"Now there's a rare soul. That's a good thing though, to be happy with what you have."

He turned his mouth towards her ear to whisper in a conspiratory manner.

"I know you're curious, in the back of your mind, so I'll go ahead and answer your next question. Yes, of course Khaesho asked me to make his hemipene bigger. He's a man, what else would you expect? Besides, did you really think you found the one snake who was naturally well endowed enough to be the talk of the town?"

Her eyes widened and her cheeks colored a deepened pink.

"Kalokin!"

He laughed long and hard, but managed a retort through his chuckles.

"What? I know you were wondering, the instant I mentioned helping you with your... assets. Besides, what's a little harmless gossip between a deity and his vessel?"

The way his voice lightened on the last questions lent him an unusually devious air. Considering that he was already fairly devious, this was a rather hard feat to accomplish, and it was made even more mischievous by the smile that spread wide across his mouth.

"I... I might have been curious! But! Still..!" She heard his question, and the devious look on his face was clear as day. A slightly scolding look on her face as she responded lightly. "You're supposed to keep things like that secret..!"

Then, she blushed and leaned a little closer, whispering to him. "Y... you think you can do something else to them..?"

"Oooohh, you sound so devious... Let's hear it, whaddaya got planned?"

Her cheeks flamed pink, and she bit her bottom lip. "W-well... nothing... big, but... maybe..."

He already had those spines, which were wonderful and tickled her for every inch, but she fidgeted in her next murmuring, making her voice almost too soft to hear.

"Male wolves have knots... w-which are lots of fun..."

Kalokin grinned, chuckling slightly in a tone that was more dangerous than humorous. He seemed to be enjoying her embarrassment, which only embarrassed her more.

"I thought it might be a naughty surprise."

She ducked her head into his coils to hide as he squeezed her soothingly.

"I'll be honest, I've learned a lot about mortals from watching you specifically tick. I'd planned to give him a few, ah... modifications... anyways. I'd like to give him some sort of metabolism so he doesn't simply freeze in the cold, and now that we have reason too, I was going to see about disabling his hibernation as well. I'm pretty sure I can work a knot or two onto him... I might have to take a small field trip to study some of your men though. I'll see what I can do."

He licked from the bottom of her ear, across the indentation where it joined her skull, all the way to the top of her head, where he rested his chin atop her crown. She shivered, skin singing under his tongue as she found it increasingly difficult to focus on the task at hand.

"But, tinkering with Khaesho gets put aside for now, we need to finish designing you first. I like the scales you have, but what about colors? Black and grey go well together, but if you have something more... adventurous in mind, I can hear out your requests."

Her back pressed against his chest, and she cuddled into his looped flesh with a content sigh. The wolf girl, well the wolf hybrid now, smiled as he mentioned the colors. She'd never really thought of color on her coat before, nothing more than the vibrant purple of her dyed mane. She tilted her head some as she looked at the doppelganger of her body and considered.

"Maybe something in blue..? After all, the blue of my eyes matches the blue of your glow."

"Blue is a good color, and I'm not just saying that because I'm blue."

He squeezed her gently, lovingly, and he supported her as she relaxed backwards into his coils. He tapped her fingers, and they started glowing; blue on the right, black on the left.

"You can get a little more... artsy with colors, but what I can do is still limited. The mannequin will only show what's possible now, so don't get mad if it twists your input a bit. If you're curious, I'm running it by searching through all the snakes I know to find a pattern close to what you want; color I can change all day, but the color patterns are really best done by precedent, designing an entire new pattern for you would take me... months really."

Shou's attention focused on the doppelganger of herself, and she contemplated the coloring and the choices she had. Stepping out of his embrace, she moved towards it, wagging her tail happily.

"Well! Let's see what I can manage!" And then she began to 'paint' patterns. She used a loosely stylized rattlesnake pattern along the scales, dark color bleeding into the fur until it faded into the grey.

As he watched her paint across the mannequin's form, Kalokin flinched. He recognized the rattlesnake's unique markings; he knew those by heart. They reminded him of the pain he'd suffered... which in turn reminded him of skeletons best left buried. Once past that twinge of discomfort, they also reminded him of her, and how they'd officially met for the first time, rather than just talking through Khaesho. He ran his talons through her hair as she finished her masterpiece, then snapped his fingers once she was done. He slid sideways though her, coiling himself some feet distant, and the Mannequin stepped forwards to hug Shou. Both forms blurred and Shou panicked a moment as she couldn't move, but then she stood with body she'd just designed.

"You do have the artist's touch... I can't wait to see your paintings."

A large mirror appeared so that she could admire herself. Shining black scales formed a base coat along her spine, crisscrossed with the unmistakable Royal Diamondback pattern that trailed all the way down her tail. The black scleras of her eyes were veined blue, and they looked out from a predatory face, neither canine nor serpentine, but a dangerous mix of both.

She had taken the markings as a reminder, as a gesture of love, appreciation, and the warmth that bloomed in her chest. A sign of her trust in Kalokin, a reminder of the sacrifice he'd made for her that she would never forget. The Rattlesnake she met in the desert was the root of everything that had made her what she now was, the cause of everything that had happened. She was pleased to wear it as a permanent reminder, so that she never took what she had been given for granted. She didn't feel bitter over it; the gut wrenching pain was over... and she was eternally glad she'd made that choice. It was impossible to not notice Kalokin's flinch from the corner of her eye, and she turned towards him with a careful smile. "Now I'll never take it for granted; now I'll never forget; now I'll make pain and sadness something beautiful. Since part of you has stained my soul, it might as well stain my skin too!"

A glance at the God, and she grinned to him. Her ears perked, and then she looked at herself in the mirror. She was strange... exotic... exotic in a way she had never been before. Hauntingly beautiful, and tinted by more than just a kiss of danger, it struck her then just how pretty she was. What should have looked wrong or twisted somehow managed to look breath taking instead. Her Eyes went wide as she noticed and her breath escaped in a swift rush. "Oh... oh wow, is that me..?"

Kalokin smiled, slithering slowly forwards to coil around her again. "I like it... it fits. No, you don't look quite like this yet, but you will, soon. Damn, but I can't wait until Khaesho gets to see you like this." He placed a claw on her back, tracing by memory the diamonds that marker her soul. "Well, I have a lot of work to do, and you'll want to sleep through it, trust me. I'll knock Khaesho out too, no sense in doing you separately. I'll wake you both when you're finished, and then you can start the first day of the rest of your life. Any last words before I put you under?"

She thought for a moment and blinked a little before worry and self-consciousness took over. "Do you think Khaesho will like it?" Her bottom lip was bitten and chewed softly as she worried, but Kalokin only laughed.

"It's you. Naga don't choose partners for beauty, because we can fuck beauty any time. They choose their mates on personality, on soul. You could be ugly, and Khaesho would still love you every bit as much as he does now."

His second hand joined the first, ghosting down her back along the jagged designs. A full body shiver traveled her spine beneath his touch. As she thought about it, she looked up at him and smiled. It was soft, and sweet, and everything she had shown Khaesho. Only this time it was directed full force at Kalokin.

"Yes... thank you."

He smiled just as sweetly, and kissed her gently on the lips.

"Sweet dreams, my Acolyte, my Vessel, my love. There will be much to do once you awake."
