#3 of The Legend of Animor

Hey guys, here is the next chapter. Had a couple writer's blocks, so it got delayed a bit. If you haven't seen the LoA progress story, i suggest you go to it, because I have a little contest for characters in my story. Believe me that I might need a few more. It took me 2-3 weeks to figure out the characters I have now. So help out by commenting in the progress journal and leaving criticism (don't be harsh plz) and maybe giving me info about some good story series here on SoFurry, since I am waiting on some good ones. Enjoy Chapter 2 of Legend of Animor.

Chapter 2

Josh

I left him there on the sidewalk and walked home. Thinking back, there were some non-human traits, because I didn't notice them before. There were the cat-like ears protruding the top of the head, and a long tail as well. It was weird at the time, because no regular human had a tail. Well, maybe people in a freak circus, but most people don't have tails. But, the outline definitely looked human.

I shook off the thought, deciding that it must have been a weird, undiscovered animal that sort of has the body shape of a person. The thought just stuck to my mind. The shockwave was too close to the time the animal was discovered to be a coincidence. Matthew probably was thinking about it, too.

I should tell my mother, but it wasn't that big of a deal. She might not believe me. A cat/human mutation is really ridiculous. It might have been a hallucination.

Still, no one would believe me. It was a crazy idea. I should talk to Matthew at school.

"What happened today? You are a little late, aren't you?" asked Mom.

"Nothing exciting happened," I said. I didn't think that my mom needed to know about the weird animal.

"Well, you seemed a bit spooked when you came home."

"I ran home from school afterward. I didn't feel like hanging out with the others today."

"Well, okay. Tell me if you want anything. Oh, and do you have homework?"

"No, I don't Mom." I actually did, but I couldn't think about that right now. I needed to ponder about the animal in the forest.

I ran upstairs into the 2nd room on the right. We had a big house, about the same as Matthew's, not that I cared.

The animal was too human-like to be feral. From the silhouette, there was what looked like to be clothes on. There was no way it could be feral. For all I knew, it could have been like us, civilized and law-abiding, if where it came from had laws.

Then I just started thinking, why did I, and only I, see the shock wave. No, Matthew was there, too. We saw the shockwave while everyone else didn't.

In the middle of my pondering, I heard a small explosion sound. It wasn't short like a firecracker, but more like a dampened explosion. It seems to have come from across the fence next to Matthew's house. Weird spot for a sound like that, but I decided to check it out. I mean, Matthew might be making small bombs or something. Something was off, because Matthew isn't that type of person though.

I walked downstairs and found Mom making dinner, apparently having not heard the sound.

"Mom, did you hear something outside?" I asked. It still was weird that she seemed to have not heard it.

"No, I haven't heard a thing other than the dogs across the street. There must be a person on a bike. That is the only time they bark at someone," Mom said.

"Well I'm going to look outside," She couldn't hear it? Her hearing is better than mine, and I could clearly hear an explosion."I'll be inside later."

"See you later, Josh"

Nothing about this added up. First the shockwave, then the animal-human-thing, now a small explosion near my backyard. What's next, I thought, power-giving gauntlets?

Who knew?
