SUMMARY/BACKGROUD

Pre-Story

As with most children, Michael learned his fathers trade. From a young age he enjoying working with wood, and soon learned enough of the trade to help his father in his workshop, building wagons and other pieces that folk commissioned them to build.

As the years rolled by Michael grew into a strong, and very desirable, stallion and was constantly having mares flirting with him. He wasn't interested, many questioned his sexuality but since no one ever saw him with any males the stories were quickly forgotten. He just focused on his work and lived a quiet life.

One day he noticed that he was being watched, a white stallion with a brown patch of fur on his neck. The stallion had come into the workshop a few times with another older stallion, the older one did all the talking but the younger one just kept quiet and looked away every time Michael looked at him.

The stallions strange behaviour confused Michael and he couldn't focus on his work, his mind filled with thoughts of the strange stallion. But the white stallion continued to watch him the following day, Michael tried to ignore him but couldn't. At night he couldn't sleep, feeling a strange longing that he had never felt before.

The next day the strange stallion walked back into the workshop, but this time he was by himself. Suddenly face to face with the stallion that was filling his thoughts he was suddenly unsure of himself and what to say. He blurted out that he had seen him watching him, the stallion was taken aback for a few moments before introducing himself.

They began to talk and with no urgent projects needing completed Michael did something he had never done before, he took a day off. They walked round town talking and for the first time in his life Michael felt complete, just being in the presence of Jason made him smile uncontrollably. His crude sense of humour and infectious smile, Michael didn't want anything else.

Once they were away from prying eyes, Jason kissed him, stunning Michael for a few moments before he began to kiss him back. Suddenly it all made sense to him now, what the other stallions had seen in the mares, he felt it for Jason and he knew he needed Jason in his life.

Jason left the following day, with the promise to return once he had settled everything back home. The long weeks apart drove Michael mad, he began to doubt that Jason would return, that it was foolish to think that Jason would pull up sticks and leave his family, his home, for him. He wondered if he could do it for Jason.

Late one afternoon as Michael was shutting up shop Jason walked in. Unable to control himself he lunged for Jason and they made love right there in the work shop. Jason moved in with Michael and they lived happily, keeping their relationship a secret from the rest of the village.

When Jason's father appeared and told everyone about them Michael and Jason were scorned by everyone, business dried up and soon they were running short of coin. Michael's family distanced themselves from him proving to be the final straw for him. They couldn't stay there.

Looking for the fastest way out of town Michael asked a merchant who was leaving town if they could travel with them. The falcon eagerly allowed them to join him. As they travelled Michael looked for a place where he and Jason could settle down without the risk of being driven away for who they were.

But before long they found themselves enjoying the falcons company, and even the brute of a tiger began to smile around them. An understanding and a feeling of acceptance was born between the four of them, a feeling which brought about the decision to stay. They had found a place where they could be themselves, they had found a new family.

'A Place to Belong'

Michael was the first one to spot Malakye's unconscious form, as they travelled through the night to make it to their next destination. When he heard Malakye's story he couldn't help but feel a connection with the dragolf, thinking of the time that he was forced to leave his home for the first time, thrown into the great unknown.

He has taken to the self imposed role of an older sibling to Malakye, and tried to present himself as a sensible role-model for the dragolf. When Jason came to him suggesting that they hook him up with a female, a rights of passage of sorts, Michael nearly shot the idea down but considering his new role as an older brother he figured that helping Malakye enjoy life was definitely part of the job description.

Once Jason had picked the female he thought was the best match for their young protégé, and after pooling their funds, Michael volunteered to do the negotiations.

After seeing Malakye and Rose hit it off in more than just a session of steamy sex, Michael couldn't help but feel a sense of pride over his role in Malakye's new found happiness.

But upon finding Malakye with Rose's dead body, his pride was smashed and felt partially responsible for Malakye's misery. His guilt pushed a gap between them and he stopped himself from interfering with the dragolfs life, and vowed only to intervene if Malakye asked him for help.
