SUMMARY/BACKGROUD

Pre-Story

Born and raised in a wolven village that despise dragons, Malakye had a difficult childhood, he was an easy target of abuse. The only fur to show him any affection was his mother. Unfortunately his mother became ill and eventually died, leaving him alone to fend for himself, when he was 8.

Despite the close proximity of his mothers family they never tried to help him. He quickly learned that if he was going to survive he needed to do it himself, resorting to stealing and scavenging for food, but he was barely able to sustain himself. He watched and learned how to plant his own crops, growing enough to keep him fed over the winter season and not need to steal from others. As he grew up he learned to hunt, becoming quite proficient with a spear.

He was the constant target of attacks by the younger wolves, keen to try out their fighting skills, he was forced to learn to fight. As he grew his draconian blood made him grow larger and stronger than most of the wolves, giving him a strength advantage, which allowed him to overpower many of the wolves. Once he had proven his strength they began to start attacking him in packs.

Despite the constant abuse and attacks Malakye never left the village. He knew that despite the harsh life he was forced to live that he was more likely to die if he left. He had heard the final conversation that his mother had with his grandfather, she begged him to ensure that he would not be killed, and after the many years of attacks not once had he come close to death. He figured that his grandfather used his influence as the village elder to threaten consequences on anyone who might try and kill him.

'A Place to Belong'

The final attack that drove Malakye from the village was when a wolf named Kaleb, a wolf that had been the ring leader of many of the pack attacks against him, attacked, raped and stabbed him before trying to burn him alive.

After fleeing the village he was found by a travelling merchant group who took him in and treated his injuries.

Over the weeks he spent recovering from his injuries he became friends with the members of the group, learning to let others close to him, learning what it felt like to be accepted for who he was and not persecuted for what he is.

During their travels he met a young dragoness named Rose, and he fell in love with her. But unfortunately he wasn't the only one who was in love with her, a particularly nasty dragon named Vireon wanted her for himself. On the eve that Rose was due to leave with Malakye and his friends they were attacked by Vireon and a large group of furs in his employ. Rose was killed and Malakye was forced to watch prompting him to lose control.

The next thing that Malakye knew he was sitting in the middle of a massacre, surrounded by the burnt corpses of their attackers. Racked with grief Malakye barely reacted when his friends arrived and carried him away from the scene.

Feeling guilty about his inability to protect Rose he gets Aceh to train him. The travel to the village of Rengilar, where they stop to rest after a couple of weeks of hard travel. During their stay, despite the fact he is still grieving over Rose, he explores his feeling of homosexuality for one of his companions. It takes him some time to resolve his own opinion on the matter, after being raised with the wolves who are strongly opposed to same sex relationships.

During their stay the village is attacked by a large pack of wolves, killing many of the residents, and during the attack Malakye once again loses control but is completely aware of what is going on. He manages to regain control of himself as he was preparing to attack his companions.

They then begin their journey to the nearest settlement and come under attack of another group of wolves. After driving the wolves away and learning that they are stuck between two large packs of wolves they decide to take a risk and travel to the ruins of Zangar, hidden high amongst the peaks of the mountains, in an attempt to escape the wolves.
