#2 of Chakat ThornBrier

The birthing ceremony or Azalea Rose and Windchanneler's cubs as recorded by Thornbrier's Implants. (Originally posted about a year ago on FurAffinity.)

_The following is a recording taken from the neural implant of Dr. ThornBrier PSD. Please note: The primary image blacking out and leaving only digital outlines and minor detail is unavoidable when the implant's user blinks as it is being recorded through their eyes. _

The image was all framed in computer read outs. Each person and many objects outlined in green and blue. The view focused on a purple and blue speckled chakat with a white undercoat. Shi was panting as shi clawed at the ground. Shi was clearly in pain, hir large belly under hir as shi was comforted by an orange with white leopard spots. The orange chakat looked up, facing directly into the image. The readout near hir head indicating the name of Windchanneller. "Thorn? Is shi ready physically?" Windy said, a note of concern in hir voice.

The readouts at the side changed as the view approached the pregnant chakat labeled Azalea Rose. Scan indicators played across hir body as the locations of four cubs within hir appeared, their vital statistics all appearing on the periphery of the view along with those of the mother.

"I believe shi is." Thorn said with a measure of confidence.

Rose groaned in pain as another wave of contractions displayed across hir body.

A white chakat with black ear tips and black lower arms finished laying out the clean sheets. As shi looked to the view hir silver ponytail played across the top of hir flac jacket. Both the name on the jacket and in the display showed hir to be the mercenary Snowbreak. Hir training in combat medicine was a matter of record and showed on the display as well, along with its limits. "Alright, Thorn? I want you to guide them out, if you believe something is wrong, tell me."

(Operator #314159) Thank you for contacting the Chakona Medical Review. I see your implant is trying to access the records for one 'Azalea Rose.' Shi doesn't seem to be in any of your studies Dr. ThornBrier. No mention of hir in your Teleportation, WarpField, or Cloning research. Please state why we should release hir records to you.

Shi is going into labor at the moment. I want to ensure there won't be any complications.

The view moved closer to the pair getting down behind Rose. Even without the scans it was clear that shi was diolating to allow passage of the cubs.

HiltSong wrote:

Chakat pregnancies very rarely have complications. I'm sure if hir physician thought otherwise shi would have recommended a hospital birth.

ThornBrier wrote:

Yes, but quadruplits are also extremely rare for Chakats and while I've watched the videos for how to handle childbirth I've never been a midwife before. The next closest thing we have to a physician available only has combat medical training. I'm sending you the telemetry now.

Windchanneler held hir mate, looking hir in the eyes. "Ok Rose, its time."

HiltSong wrote:

Ok, I see what you mean. I take it the position of the fourth cub had you concerned?

ThornBrier wrote:

That is correct.

Before I can discuss hir medical record in conjunction with this situation I must first, for hir privacy, verify that this is live telemetry. Please bring your hands into view, look at the sire, and reassure them.

Four white furred hands came into the view as shi looked over Roses flank. Windy's tails were flicking in concern for hir mate. The hands stroked across Rose's rump as Thorn's voice spoke up again. "Its ok, we are here for you."

The contractions came again. Rose buried hir face into hir mates chest as shi growled and clawed at the floor, pushing with all hir strength. The first cub started down the birthing canal, stretching it wider and wider. ThornBrier helped hold hir steady. Over the sounds of the growling Windy could be heard purring, trying to comfort hir mate.

"That's my girl, push for us," shi said encouragingly.

As the head neared the opening Thorn moved hir lower arms into place. "Come on, come on out." Shi spoke softly to the cub. Rose continued to push as hir claws dug deeper into the floor, yowling and groaning. Hir mate continue to support hir, "That's it love, keep pushing."

HiltSong wrote:

Comparing your telemetry and the data on record I see no reason to worry. I would only caution that you make sure shi rests between cubs if shi can, especially that last one. Give it time. It won't do hir or hir cubs any good if shi becomes too exhausted to push.

"Ok, I can see the head coming out for the first one." Thorn said as the little bloody head crested from hir mother. Rose pushed hard again roaring out in pain. Thorn guided the cub from hir body. "Ok, that's one down. Your doing good."

ThornBrier wrote:

Thank you so much Hilt. Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Rose panted heavily and tried to curl up from hir position to look back at the cub, but Windy held hir. "Easy Rose, take a moment to breath before the next starts."

HiltSong wrote:

Just be sure to clean the cub off, but it looks like Snow has that covered. If you'd like I can remain on standby should you need more assistance.

Thorn took the cub with hir upper hands and held hir up so hir mother could see. As the cubs cries filled the air Thorn took a cloth proffered by Snow's black hand and cleaned hir off revealing hir bright blue and purple hair, hir bright orange body and light purple leopard spots. Thorn focused hir scans on the cub. "Shi's a cuty. Healthy too. Good weight."

ThornBrier wrote:

Thank you, yes.

The chat minimized.

A young grey blue chakat with a white underbelly and sock patterning curiously entered the edge of the view trying to get a look at hir new sister. Shi smiled, but as everyone's smiles were shattered by Rose's groans shi darted back out of view as Thorn returned to hir position behind Rose.

Just as the scans indicated the contraction Thorn spoke to time it properly, "Ok.., and push." Yowling Rose pushed again and the second cub came much easier but slowed as hir lower shoulders caught. "Come on, come on, that's a good girl. Shi's almost out." Two white hands pulled a little, guiding the crying cubs shoulders and hips out.

Thorn cleaned off the cub and brought both of them up to their mother as Windy hugged Rose tight and kissed the tips of hir ears. Thorn held out the cubs, the first in hir right arms, the second in the left pair. "They are both doing quite well. Now, if someone could hold them, I can't guide the others with these two in my arms."

Snow gave a slight giggle as shi took them.

"Ash was right, it is mostly a matter of just having a catcher." Thorn joked as shi returned to hir possition behind Rose, again running a hand along hir flank.

"Yup," Snowbreak affirmed.

From behind Rose Windy spoke up, a note of concern and warning in hir voice, "Most of the time."

The next cubs birth proceeded uneventfully. Once shi was safe the readout magnified the display of the fourth cub, still facing the wrong direction.

Anything to worry about?

HiltSong wrote:

Just wait, it's happening.

Thorn casually cleaned the third cub. "You've only got one more to go. Don't rush it." Shi watched closely, cradling the cub in hir lower arms for a few minutes as the fourth cub slowly turned. Rose purred deeply kissing Windy.

"Ok, looks like the next one is in position. Whenever you're ready. Rose."

The loving parents broke their kiss and Windy asked, smiling, "Ready for the last one, Rose?"

With Rose's pushing the last cub emerged, smaller than the others. Thorn supported and guided hir silent body from hir mother. Something was wrong. Shi wasn't breathing. The scans showed a small blockage that would normally be moved out with the first breath, but nothing was happening. With two fingers Thorn pushed softly on hir chest and the blockage moved. The cub cried out and Thorn looked back to the parents. "Very good Rose, very good. That's the last of them."

ThornBrier wrote:

And thank you.

HiltSong wrote:

Your welcome. Anything else I can help you with Shir? Would you like me to file their birth certificates?

ThornBrier wrote:

No, make note of the times of birth, but let Rose and Windy file when they decide to.

Thorn brought the last two cubs to Rose and Windy. They broke their kiss and Rose collapsed in hir mates arms panting heavily, Windchanneller looking at hir with pride. As Thorn started to hand the cubs to Wind the recording ended.
