#1 of Growing up with a wolf.

Lo'ons Visit. I awoke with a knock to the front door of the trailor I lived in, at age six. At that age, I thought it was only the wind. I shrugged, and nestled back down into my bed, closing my eyes. It seemed like only a few minutes before I heard a whining at the door now. "Mom or dad will get it.." I thought to myself at least a dozen times. They didn't get up, they must not have heard it. Was it real? I wasn't sure. I heard a similar whine but a little lower and I sighed, and pulled my blanket off of me and turned, setting my footpaws on the floor, gasping as the ice cold tiles met the bottoms of my feet. I shivered slightly and I jumped as I heard the whining again, loud this time. I took a few steps to my door slowly, and I opened it up, looking out into the dark hallway, shivering again. "I wonder what that noise is.." I thought, sneaking out of my room as my large tail wrapping itself around my left leg tightly. I walked slowly down the hall, and nearly jumped out of my white fur as something began to scratch at the door now. My head shot in that direction. I took several cautious steps towards the door, the floor beneath me creaking slightly. Now, it may have been a small sound, but under the current circumstances, it sounded like a gunshot, which caused me to pause my advance in fright. After a few minutes, I began to walk at the door and I could now hear soft whimpering. "A dog...?" I thought, wrapping a paw around the door handle. Just then, my ears perked up as I heard the sound of rain. It's raining! It didn't rain very often where I had lived back then. I tilted my head, getting lost in the hypnotic rhythm the rain placed against our roof outside, and against the ground, only to be ripped out from my little world by a short and shrill bark. I quickly turned the knob and yanked on the door, grunting. I then realized it was locked on the deadlock above and I narrowed my eyes. I reached up and yanked on the right side of the lock, pulling out the small bolt. Then I reached for the knob again and gave it a hard yank, which caused the door to fly open. I nearly fell but managed to keep my footing. I looked down and I caught my breath in my chest. "A..A puppy? No... A baby wolf?" I said softly as the small wolf cub looked up at me,, it's ice blue eyes shining happily as it stood up from where it had been sitting on at the wet ground, and even though it was a puppy, it rose up to my thighs already. I kneeled down and reached out a paw to it. As if on cue, the cub sniffed my paw and then shook it's body, drying off its blue and white fur, it's thick blue/white tail seeming to fling around snow flakes. I smiled and held out my arms, not knowing why, and the cub leaped into them. I blinked and then held it tight against me, as it wagged it's tail excitedly, snow flinging all over. "W..Welcome home." I said, and then blinked, not even able to guess why I had just said that. The cub backed away from me and seemed to smile, and then ran past me at full speed, straight to my room. I yipped out of surprise and chased after it, giggling quietly so as not to wake my parents, and stopped at the doorway to my room. I stood there, and looked in. "Awww.." I smiled as I saw the cub curled up in my bed, on the other side from where I slept and had it's head on my pillow. It's ears perked up as it heard me and I could hear a gentle murr coming from it. I shook my head and climbed into bed, pulling the pup against my chest and brough the blanket over us. I then nestled down into the blankets with the pup and petted it's head as it layed it against my chest, murring happily. I smiled and rubbed it's back slowly and slowly drifted off to sleep as it did. "Good night...Lo'on.." I mumbled, drifting off into sleep finally. * * *

The next morning.

  • * * "Korey Alaxander Eriola!" I suddenly heard my mom yell from the doorway of my room and I jumped out of bed, the blankets flying over Lo'on, hiding it. "Y-Yes, mother?" I said, shivering from the fright she had just given me. "What in the world is that?" She said, pointing to the lump in the bed, where Lo'on lay. I looked and then looked back at Mom, her fur bristled slightly, distorting her Snow Leopard features. "W-whats what, mom?" I squeaked, knowing that if she knew about Lo'on, she'd make me let him go. The mere thought of losing him now seemed to almost make me cry. "Don't you play coy with me, boy." She said, walking over to the sheets and pulling them down. She stepped back a step and blinked. I looked, never had seeing her do that before and looked at the bed. I gasped suddenly, all that was there was a patch of snow! I, of course being six at the time, thought the worst and thought the night before had only been a dream. A really good dream. "I..I just wanted to cool down mother...It was really hot last night." I lied. She only shook her head and patted my shoulder softly, and walked out. I waited a moment and then sat on my bed, facing the snow, and I let a quiet sob out. I lost him. I didn't know how I had, but I had lost that beautiful little wolf cub. I lay down now, and stared at the patch. I eventually cried myself back to sleep and dreamt of Lo'on. Several hours later, I woke up to a sound that seemed to be coming from behind me. I opened my eyes, staring at my door. It took me a moment to focus since I had cried myself hard, passing out. I heard the noise again, it sounded a little like a murr and a whimper. I rubbed my eyes and rolled over, only thinking it was a dream and I put my paws down, and stared dead in the eyes of something blue and white. I yipped and rolled out of bed out of surprise and peeked over the edge. Lo'on sat there, his head tilted a bit and he was wagging his tail, snowflakes flying all over. I blinked and looked around, it must be a dream! I stood up and suddenly Lo'on lunged at me, knocking me down onto my back, pinning me to the floor and seeming to smile big. "Whoa, Lo'on!" I said out of surprise and I heard footsteps now, Mom must have heard me and was coming to see if I was alright now. I started to panic and looked at Lo'on and he leaned down and pressed a paw at my neck, tilting it far enough that it seemed to pop. But not a normal kind of pop, it was like that if you broke it. I froze now, thinking he had broke my neck. He looked down at me, a puzzled look on his face and nudged me softly, and I heard something in my head. "Think of where you want to go, imagine yourself being there." It said and I looked at Lo'on, knowing at that instant it was him. I nodded and did as he said, and closed my eyes, imagining a plain of snow, so deep that if you weren't careful you would fall in. Mountains around the plain, so it wouldn't be easy for Mom to get to me, and a clear blue sky. I shivered a bit at the wonderful thought and I felt Lo'on licking at my neck and I tilted my head to it, smiling a bit and my neck popped again. I opened my eyes and gasped loudly. I was staring at a blue sky! I sat up, Lo'on backing up a bit. I looked around, and everything was like I had just imagined! I looked back at Lo'on and he smiled at me, wagging his tail now. I smiled back and leaped at him, hugging him tight, and then blinked. He felt much bigger than he had before. I backed off slightly and looked him up and down and he was bigger! He seemed to have almost doubled in size! "Oh wow..You grow really fast, Lo'on" I said softly. I looked at the center of the field and smiled, I wanted something to be there.
