As we entered the school, we found that a lot of the students gave us weird looks, but I couldn't care less. As long as Mark was with me, I felt safe and protected with him. Our first class was English so we went to room 101. As we entered the classroom, we got more weird looks. Some of the students gave nasty looks but quickly turned away to chat away with their friends. It felt as if our presence was polluting the classroom. I saw many different students. There were students who were just sitting in their sits, those playing around, and messing with the materials, but I could have cared less. We quickly found some empty seats and took our seats, we noticed that the seats had numbers on them, but we weren't too distracted by it. We were pretty early so we decided to chat away about writing. A few minutes later, the professor came in. It was an old, pudgy dalmatian with a cane. We seemed around his 60's and had major back problems from the looks of it. He seemed like a tough, old dog from the looks of it. Looks like he could have been in the army. He looked pretty intimidating as well..

The other students didn't realize the professor was here, so they just kept doing what they were doing. The professor then went over to his desk and rang a bell that got the attention of every other student.

"Hello Class." The professor said in a deep, bellowing voice. "I am Mr. Barker or Professor Barker, which ever you prefer. And from here on out, I will be your professor for English101, or in other terms, probably your worst enemy." His voice sounded so deep and serious many of the students quickly stumbled and took their seats. Some of them even shut their mouths and were afraid of speaking again. We all just stared at the professor, waiting for his next response.

"First of all, If I see any immature horse playing going around, I'll just immediately send you out of my sight. Do you want to fail before you even being your second day of class?" He asked in a serious tone.

The students were too afraid to answer so they just gulped and shook their heads 'No'.

"Now, if we can get started now. We're going to begin with an exam." He said.

"What?" Many of the students said in a low, whisper voice. I was surprised myself. "We're getting an exam on the 2nd day of school?" I said to Mark. He just shrugged and motioned me to pay attention.

"Each of you will come up and get a number card." He said pointing at a pile of number cards. "This will determine where you will sit." He then motioned us to get up and get a number card. We all got up and made a line to pick a card. Mark and I were seperated from each other because all the students scrambled to get a number card because they'd think the professor would yell at them. And believe me, he seems terrifying. As we waited in line, I noticed Mark had his mind some where else.

~Quick P.O.V Change To Mark~

"This isn't right." I thought to myself. The teacher seemed oddly strange... When he entered the room, I felt a strong presence. Almost the same presence I felt when I met Zena. Could he also have the power I have? I've noticed he is a strict, intimidating dog. He seems to have the power to torture others, probably mentally and physically. He was probably sent to try and capture me. All makes sense now, I've noticed he had the mark on his shoulder. Though, his shirt made it almost hard to see. "I better keep my guard up.. Gotta make sure to watch out for Cody. If this guy has the power, I'll have to be extremely careful."

I then noticed someone's paw poking me. I turned to notice it was Cody.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, just surprised we have an exam. I'm sure it'll be easy. Just be careful, okay? I have a bad feeling about this guy."

"Okay, gotcha." He replied back.

~Back To Cody~

After we received our numbers, we went to the seat with the number. I got #5 and Mark got #12. He wasn't too far from me, but it still sucks we couldn't sit together. The professor then spoke up.

"Everyone, eyes at me." He said tapping the board with is marker. "We're going to do a multiple-choice test. It consists of 10-multiple choice answers with 4-letter options. It's pretty simple and you guys know the procedure." He then noticed a group of kids giggling and whispering to each other.

"There are a few rules you need to know. So you better listen up because I'm not going to explain my self twice or answer a single question." He barked. All the students then sat up straight and gave their full attention to Professor Barker. "But first, do you all notice your number seat you are sitting in? Each number is on a group with 2 other numbers. So basically you're in a team, but taking the test individually. For example, if you're #1, your partners are #2 and #3. If you're #7, then your numbers are #8 and #9. Get my drift? You're basically paired with strangers you don't even know. This isn't really team work, but I want to see how each of you do. I assign you teams because it helps me determine if you're all confident enough to pass or do this test."

"What do you mean put us in teams?" One student said. "If we're put in teams with a group of strangers, and we can't even cooperate, how will that help?"

"Oh, you'll see" He said with a terrifying smirk.

"Here are the rules." Professor Barker said.

"Rule #1. this multiple choice test is based on a point deduction scale. It may seem contrary then some of you are used to. You all start off with 10 points. Each question you get wrong, 1 point will be deducted from you. If you get 2 wrong, that's 7 points. If you get them all right, you get your full 10 points."

"Rule #2. There will be no cheating allowed. I have a sharp eye so If I catch you cheating, 3 points will be deducted from you and your team. If you do it a 2nd time, I will just dismiss you from my class. I don't have tolerance and I shouldn't have any for 18-year olds. I'm sure you're all mature and ready to be adults. So I'm hoping you act like ones."

"Geez..." I said to myself in my thoughts. "This professor makes it seems there are so many ways we can lose points."

"Rule #3. The minimum score you need in order to past the test is 6 points or higher. It's basically a 60%. Anything lower will be an 'F'.

"And the last and final rule. Any candidate who receives a lower than a 60%, the whole entire team fails regardless if the other 2 have higher scores."

A sudden wave of gasps erupted around the room. Everyone was so terrified and anxious, they didn't want to take this class anymore. "That isn't fair!" I said in my mind. "He makes taking this test impossible to pass!" I was extremely anxious. I looked over at Mark and saw he had a cool, calm face. "How can he be so calm at a time like this? Well, he did say to watch out for the professor... I have to pass this."

Professor Barker then passed out the exam and it began. "You have 30 minutes to complete the exam. You may notice that #10 doesn't have any question or answer. When the time expires, I will tell you what #10 will be. Just answer #1 - #9.

"Okay, I got this." I said to myself as I received the test.

After 30 minutes passed, Professor Barker rang the tiny bell on his desk. "Okay students, set your pencils down and pass your tests up." I frantically hurried and finished the last question on the test. I was so anxious I dazed off to much. God I hope I don't fail.

"Now for #10. I've noticed this room is a bit too large, so I have an offer to make."

All of the students look pretty confused, even I was confused.

"You don't have to take #10 of the exam." He told us

"Wha????" I was confused.

"If you choose not to take #10, you will fail my class. That means you fail english first semester entirely. You will be transferred over to the other English teacher in another building. I am a type of teacher that teaches my students straight-forward and get's to the point. You have a choice of not taking the 10th question and leaving my class and failing. Or, take the 10th question and stay and pass my class. If you decide to answer the 10th question, you must answer it correctly. If you answer it incorrectly, regardless if you got a high score from the other 9 questions, you fail the entire test. This test is worth 85% of your grade, by the way.

"Also, if any member of your team decides to leave, the other 2 fail the course and must leave as well."

"Okay, this was not happening. If we take the 10th question and fail it the whole team fails regardless if we get a higher score than the other 9?! And if 1 of our teammates leave, we all fail and leave with him. Is this even allowed?!?"

"For those of you who don't want to take this test, fail the semester, and transfer to a new class, please stand up."

At first, we thought he was joking. But no, he was too serious to be joking. Just then, a male otter, a short one, stood up. "I don't want to take this man. It's too much pressure. I'm sorry guys, it's just too much for me to handle." Other students then started getting up as well. "Yeah, I'm out too." Luckily, none of my teammates have left nor have Mark's. After everyone that left, only half the class remained.

"So, you all decide to take on the 10th question? Are you sure?" He asked seriously.

Every student was quiet and nodded. "I like your determination. I see most of you have the courage to stay and try to pass. Since the stakes are pretty high."

Professor Barker then scanned the roomed and looked at Mark. He had an angry look on him, but quickly turned away.

"Now, there's only thing left to do for all of you remaining." He said.

All of the students sat on the edge of their seats. Awaiting for the 10th question, or another scary statement from him.

"And that's to tell you you've all passed the exam."

Everyone's face was confused and petrified. I dropped my pencil, not believing what I was hearing.

A male fox then stood up and asked. "Huh, what do you mean we passed? What's going on? Where's the 10th question?" Everyone else nodded in agreement, but in relief at the same time.

Professor Barker just gave a smile. "There is no 10th question. There wasn't one, at the least. Your decision to stay in my class was the answer to the 10th question."

"Huh?" He said. Then, a male otter stood up. "Wait a second! So basically the other 9 questions were a waste of time?"

"Well, partially. My main goal of this quiz was to test your courage and determination. I wanted to see if I had a brave group of students this year, students who actually dared to explore and learn the way of my teachings. The reason why I put you all in teams was to see if you had determination. You knew if someone from your team failed, you'd fail as well. You also knew if one of your teammates left, you'd have to leave as well. I wanted to see if anyone of you had the guts to stay, and well needless to say, you all did."

"Oh, well that makes much more sense" The fox said sarcastically.

"Don't worry, you'll soon find figure it out. Now class, starting tomorrow, we're going to start our real assignments. I hope you're all ready." With that being said, the bell rang and everyone hurried to their next class. I waited outside for Mark, I noticed he was talking to the teacher. I just stood there, waiting for him. He then finished up his conversation and came out.

"What was that all about?" I asked. "Oh nothing, he just said how he saw great potential in me. I still got a bad feeling about the guy, so don't trust him, yet."

I nodded. "That was a weird way to start off your new class. I was literally scared out of fur. I'm surprised you managed to keep your cool."

"I was scared as well. I just tried to look calm and concentrate. At least we passed!" He said.

"Yeah, that is true." With that being said, we scurried to our next class.

The classes went by like a breeze, they weren't as extreme as English, but pretty fun. After we finished our classes, we went home.

"What a long day." I said falling on the couch. "Indeed it was." Mark said grabbing some water to drink.

I was thinking, you're to move your stuff into my room." Mark said as he took off his shirt. He seemed pretty hot and sweaty from the burning sun. Cody froze. "You want me to move into your room?" Mark took a sip of water and smiled. "Of course I do, you sillywolf. If we're going to be lovers, then we're going to need all of your stuff in here. Because you are going to be sleeping with me every night from now on. I'd promise I'd protect and watch over you, so that's what I intend to do!" He says coming over to me. He then picked me up and took me to his room. He threw me on the bed, which was pretty uncalled for and we lay there together. "You know you're really soft and cuddly." Mark told me. "Yeah, I know" I said blushing. I gave mark a kiss and lay there, in his big strong arms. "It's only 4pm. Wanna take a little nap? I'm pretty sure we're both tired from this long day."

"Yeah, sounds like a plan. We managed to survive 2 days of school, I'm sure we can survive 4 more years. I said."

We both held each other as we both drifted into sleep, thinking about each other as we slept..
