Embrace in the night

Even in death, real love goes on. I thought this one up recently, thinking about my only true love... and starring my character Ian the Dragon and his obsession.

Under the bright moon, as the midnight was approaching, a cloaked shadow made his way up to the farthest tomb in the graveyard. He walked with a slow, measured pace. Almost with a charming kind of cadence, holding what appeared to be a rose, he made his way on the moonlit ground. His eyes shining beautifully with devotion and expectation. He climbed the slope slowly, marching solemnly in the middle of the night until he reached the spot of the tombstone, placing the rose soflty on the ground and kneeling before the tombstone.

"I have come for you... my love..."

He spoke these words softly, lovingly and in a whisper; as if he was communicating with someone. "I promised I'd stay forever here with you..." Tears streamed down the cloaked dragon's face, falling on the ground and on the rose he had placed. "They tried to keep me away again... but they can't... they never will..." the dragon pulled down the hood of his cloak, revealing his shining white scales to the moonlight that bather him and every tombstone. "And now... time to go back home my darling." The dragon whispered softly, as he put down the shovel he had been carrying on his back. He started digging the grave, being careful not to damage the rose he had placed near the tombstone, and throwing the ground to the side, the hope shining in his eyes through his tears. "We'll be together again... hold on for me..."

And then, he hit gold... he could see one of his large bones poking through the ground. The dragon smiled when he noticed the big bone pointing out, his memory racing back to the day he had met his beloved. "Rui... my name's... Rui..." his voice echoed faintly in his tormented mind, his features manifesting before his eyes. More tears washed down the dragon's face, and he dropped the shovel. "My beloved Rui... I have come today for you... we are destined to be together, no one will separate us... not even Death!"

For a brief instant, a cloud hid the moon, and shadows covered the entire graveyard. Right as the dragon was making his way back carrying the skeleton of his dead loved one, he made his way back in the same timed pace, carrying a sack with his remains. "We will stay together... no one loves you like I do..." the dragon made it out the graveyard, entranced, walking under the moonlight to the way back home. "We'll be finally together... even if you didn't love me... I always did... and forever will."

"Even dead... I still love you..." The last words the dragon said before dissappearing into the night echoed with the last minute of the midnight hour, and he vanished in the shadows with his loved one.
