Hybrids Among Us

Chapter 2

I woke up a while later with the face of a girl staring down at me. Her face. Her face was like that of an angel's. She had brown hair that fell down to her waist, brown eyes, and what looked like soft lips. She appeared to be a simple Human, until my vision cleared entirely. She was a Hybrid like me.

"Are you alright?" She asked in a smooth, heavenly voice.

"Uh... Yeah. Sorry. It's just, I've never seen another of my kind." I replied.

She blushed and said, "Yeah. Just moved here from Iowa." She said.

"I heard it's just like... Home." I said reluctantly. I never liked talking about our home planet. Not since I met my real parents.

"Yeah. It is. Are you sure you're alright? You were out for over an hour. We brought you back to my place since no one was home." She said.

My eyes went wide. I jolted up and got a look of my surroundings. Door to my right, sliding glass door to my left, hallway in front, wall in back. I was laying on a brown leather couch. I looked back at the girl who was frightened by my sudden jolt. "Sorry. I'm uh... I'm bullied at school so I try to be aware of my surroundings." I explained.

"Is it because you're... Different?" She asked.

I nodded. "I think we are the only Zeta Hybrids for miles. There isn't even a single full Zeta that I know of." I said.

"My mother is a Zeta. My father is a Hybrid." The girl said.

"So that makes three total Hybrids, and one total Zeta." I said.

Her eyes went wide. "Hey, how old are you? What's your name?" She asked.

"My name is Nathan. I'm 16. You?" I said.

"Reachel. I'm also 16." She answered.

"Uh, hey what time is it?" I asked.

"It's 9:43. Why?" She asked.

"I have to get to school!" I answered.

"Don't worry. When you fainted, we searched your pockets for a phone, we found it and called your parents. They got you out of school for today. But you should really put a password on there." Reachel explained.

I sighed. I sat down on the couch and asked, "So what now?"

"Well, what's your favorite game?" She asked back.

"Halo." I replied.

"Cool. I've got Reach, wanna play?" She asked.

A girl that plays Halo. God I love this girl. We got out a rebuilt and modified version of the Xbox 360. We hooked it up to a 4D television and built a map in forge mode. We soon started playing against each other on that map.

We played firefight and campaign after that. After we died in the last level, I looked for a clock. Nothing. I reached into my pocket and found my phone. It was 4:37. "Hey, what time do your parents get off of work?" I asked.

"About 7. How about yours?" Reachel asked back.

"Same." I answered.

We played the last level a few more times to see how far we could make it, then moved on to forge.

"You know," I started. Reachel had just killed me with a sniper rifle. "I haven't really socialized this much ever." I finished.

"Hah! Try Iowa, they love our kind." She said.

"Well here, they hate us. So get ready for the hurtful comments and bullying tomorrow." I said.

"Dude, tomorrow's Saturday." She said. This time, she picked up a rocket launcher an killed me.

"Oh yeah. Get ready for Monday then." I said. I managed to somehow kill her with a plasma pistol.

"You ass! Well, even then, we still have each other." She said. Something odd happened. I felt my face get hot. It never does that. "I mean, as friends. Not as boyfriend and girlfriend." She continued.

"Oh." I replied.

We kept playing until Reachel's parents came home. We finished with my score being 101, and hers being 235.

Her parents drove me home, but when we arrived at my house, Reachel's father said, "Hey, before you leave, please protect my daughter come Monday. I know how bad these people are. And you do too. Just don't let anything bad happen." I nodded and went into my house.

"Was he saying that I should be her boyfriend?" I asked myself. I swept the thought aside and raided the fridge of its ham. I went to my room, finished the ham, and fell asleep thinking, 'You know, I don't really get to talk to my foster parents anymore...'

The next two days went by fast, as any weekend did for me.

When I arrived at school on Monday, I saw Blaze waiting for me. "Freak, I heard there's another scum like you." He said. I don't know what happened, but I approached him and slugged his face. He fell to the ground hold the spot I hit.

"I've had enough of you crap! You call me names! You punch me! You even locked me in the girls bathroom once! I am sick, and tired, of what you are doing around here!" I yelled. Then, I realized what I had done.

Blaze got up. I tried to run, but his goons held me back. "Oh your gonna get it now mother fucker." He kneed my gut, punched my face, and elbowed my jaw several times. They dropped me, and I fell into the cold winter's snow. Red blood with a tiny of blue poring out of my mouth. I shut my eyes to try and close the world out. When the trio left, I heard someone else approaching. Probably wanted to get a kick on me.

"Please. No more. Please just leave me alone." I pleaded.

"No. You did a brave thing back there. And they did a serious number on you." I opened an eye to see who it was. It was Reachel.

_ Author's Notes: _

_ So, I guess Reachel cares for someone. And Blaze is angrier than ever. Who is next? I don't know. I'll think about it later. But at least Nathan and Reachel have each other. _

_ Afternotes: _

_ Okay, so one of my viewers has commented that he doesn't like it when writers censor their stories. So in response, I am uncensoring all my stories. _
