#2 of Dragon Layer

Second chapter finally edited.

Marked as adult for some crude text.

In a realm not so far away, except perhaps in time and culture, live peacefully humans and dragons alike. The creatures have lived so long together that their society have grown to accept and encourage mixed relations and marriage between their kinds. A tweak of nature even made inter-breeding real, but only for some of them. The reason for this is yet unknown and marriage can be refused if the couple is found to be infertile.

When infertility meets with drastic laws and greedy manipulators, love will be hard tested on the altar of justice.

The mayor was fuming in his small office. He was a five foot tall person with a well fed body, his cheek nicely bulging outside in its red color. He usually would look very welcoming, especially as he went out for his morning walk, although today his burgundy figure had turned purple with the recent outrageous news. The high Dragon council of Junmoondar was thinking of legalizing cross-species couples and aborting the old law on the ground that the natural course of event justified that people could choose whomever they wanted, fertility or not. As an obvious response, the high Human council vetoed the project and blocked any advances since a law could not pass if one of them did not agree. Yet, it greatly displeased the mayor.

He had been elected a good thirty years ago and had since miraculously stayed in place. The rumor had grown that he cheated although he managed to quiet them down when he threatened to raise the housing taxes and to avoid further problems, a group of wyverns had been hired to guard the townhouse, day and night. The citizens eventually grew used to it and time passed as if it had always been there. Very few complains came as the strong minorities of both humans and dragons officially supported the mayor and the strict laws.

His crimson head was covered in sweat, dripping down his lips as he nervously chewed on a large cigar. The large figure paced the room frantically. The news of the dragons wanting to change the law was not good for him, he had been one of its instigator in the first place and the main reason why he had been elected too. If dragons were to succeed, the general mentality would soon follow in less than a decade and he was sure to then lose his seat and even more if it was ever discovered that since the law had passed, the number of cross-species babies had drastically dropped to less than one every decade because of him.

"This ain't no good, this ain't no good!"

He rummaged hard when the intercom rang. He depressed the button and his secretary told him about someone waiting to see him, but he didn't listen, he knew.

"Bring him in and cancel all my appointments today!" he just grumbled without letting the assistant finish her sentence.

A tall and well dressed man entered the room. His face was weather-beaten by the sun and age. One could tell he had lived quite a few lives and yet nothing seems to be able to disturb him as he looked coldly in front of him. His grey tuxedo perfectly straight without a single ply, his pants looking like fresh from cleaning. With his six feet, he looked down at the mayor and spoke straight without smiling.

"Stop chewing that cigar, Edmond, it's not going to help right now. We have some work to do."

"Yeahyeah, maybe you don't but I need that to think and it looks like it's worse than I first thought!"

"Calm down. We can handle the situation. In fact, we already did."

"But Aldun, you know it..."

"Damn you, I told you to never say my name!"

"Easy, it's my office and the other bitch is too dumb to even listen!" he said pointing at the door.

"Anyway, our contact in the council forced a few hands and the veto blocked any further moves for a while which will give us time to mix more juices."

The mayor raised an eyebrow and Aldun nodded silently. He opened wide eyes at the implication.

"Is it ready and tested?"

"Dragons are just a bit more difficult for now but the taste should work in a couple days"

Edmond sighed in relief, he would not lose his job or be accused of anything just yet.

The mayor was also the boss of the largest food company in the whole of Junmoondar: Mendraso. The company sold up to ninety five percent of the manufactured food that was eaten in the country. Their best-seller was the flavored water, that one could find in almost any household: Junipeg.

The tall man has ordered that the research lab of Mendraso, under the official claim of releasing a new flavor, worked on adding another additive to their hit products. So far, Aldun, the company CEO, had added three different mixtures to the water including a fertility restrictive, and a couple mind control chemical that had worked throughout the years to limit people's reflexion to a controllable level.

The first products, despite being easy to get to humans had a hard time convincing dragons with their advanced smell and had almost destroyed the company's reputation if it was not for a last minute discovery that permitted to hide the tastes of specific chemicals. Now all they would have to do when creating a new compound was to just tweak this formula to fool dragons as easily as humans.

Mendraso had of course many other products that were free of any chemicals of the sort and often the company would publicly test them to prove its honesty while being careful to avoid testing the spoiled ones or replace them with mockups. And indeed, what looked more like water than water itself?

The company's name originated from a mix of Men, Dragon and 'Significant Other', although that last part has long been lost and whenever they were asked its meaning, they would just claim 'so' stands for society.

They also had managed to have people believe they have been there for several centuries while it only been here for the last thirty years, just when the new law had passed.

The mayor sat down in his chair as his visitor left his room without a word. He nodded at the secretary and walked out. Edmond sighed.

"Magali, can you come here?"

He worked out with her the few meetings of the day before he sent her back to her desk and waited for her to close the door before he spat the cold cigar in the trash can and laughed heartily.

"Fools..."

In his mid seventies, Aldun was an old man but still had a fresh and quick mind. He knew what had to be done and when, and gave no feeling about the outcome. If death had to be called for, he would ask for it to be done or do it himself if necessary. He had worked like that for the last forty years and it had always proven him right. His position of Mendraso CEO had offered him lots of time to calculate and plan all the necessities required by his bosses. He had even planned his retirement when he publicly shown his fake son on TV, explaining to the audience that he would retiring in the near future and that his son would be taking his position after having spent years as the company new products manager. That stunt allowed him to work further in the background and whenever he would not be available for interviews, his _son_would take over and answer what the journalists wanted to hear.

In the many years he had worked in the underground, he had met many hitmen or hitdragons but none as efficient as Nemo, a nickname he chose after he started working in the dark. Nemo had been the first of many hybrid who were born before the change of law and state. His mother was a grand western fire dragon and his father a male human. The dragon species was chosen for its hunting skills and quick slaughters as several dragon clans had ended decimated in close combat from being sneaked upon by the stealthy herd. His father was also a hitman and had trained him on his job as soon as he could walk.

Nemo was a deep green dragon, a color he had inherited from his mother, allowing their species to be able to hide in any vegetation and silently hit their preys. They had often been compared to crocodile in their efficiency. The hybrid dragon had gained opposable thumbs on his forepaws, allowing him to use human weaponry. And more than his parents, his joint skills made him unique for clean kills, leaving no trace or trail as he could quickly fall from the sky, snap his victim's neck and carry it away to dispose of the body.

It took Aldun ten years to trace back Nemo. The dragon boy left tales here and there, myths and legends existed and it took the man a couple years to separate the truth from the lies. And then several more to locate the dragon as very few had actually seen him. It took him his more powerful contacts to roughly find his whereabouts and receive a message as to where he would eventually meet him during a black moon. And if it had not been for the offer he gave the dragon hybrid, he probably would not have come back.

Nemo's rules were strict: no direct contact unless he engaged them and those would only be at night, at a place of his convenience where he would have the single advantage. No kid involved. No question asked. Nemo never asked for money, whatever he wanted, he would get from his debtors. Willingly, or not. Once in a while, a nosy political figure disappeared and while the news called it an accident or that he had been sent to another province, the truth was only known by Nemo and the target's closest friends so they would not do the same mistake. A few had tried to defy him and call the public audience to find the truth but ultimately faced the same fate. The rare article talking about him were as evasive as those about the Lochness monster; One just doesn't track a ghost. Nemo made it a point to be square in everything work related and his reputation was not only that of a great hitman but also a reliable professional.

Aldun walked back to his office at Mendraso and nodded politely to all the people he met in the street. If people had had any idea of what he had been doing, none of his mind-altering drugs would have let him walk outside without being mangled by both humans and dragons. He knew he had to be very careful and each of his step was calculated in such a way that it would leave no doubt because if people were to find out the truth, and that was the only flaw of his drugs, the one that all of his chemists had warned about, the effect of the drug would dissipate within minutes. The principle behind those medicines was to enhance the beliefs that whatever the leaders said would be truth to stand by but only if they were not given a reason to think about it. And as with any narcotic, the product was only so much efficient. A small amount of people had no reaction to the effects at all, either because of their physiology or that they were already convinced that the leaders lied. Either way, they were still a threat to an otherwise ideal country to live in.

The Mendraso building was immense, going for half a mile along the seashore with many divisions, each for a different type of food. The name showing proudly in big purple letters on the tallest part of the building. Each division was marked with a letter of a different color. The hallway showed their most popular products, including free sample for people to try whenever someone visited the place.

Aldun looked at the secretary and silently entered his office, he closed the door before turning to the window facing the sea and grabbed the window's edge. He stayed there for a while lost in his thoughts, his eyes staring emptily in front of him. He felt his age slowly creeping on him, the wrinkles on his face felt heavier than usual. His life slowly re-enacting in his mind. His early years spent at his parent house with babysitting dragons, his rebellious teens trying to run away from home but soon caught by flight agents in the middle of the night and how he took his revenge on them by shooting them in the back the next day. How he managed to avoid suspicions over the years and then got noticed by the human mafia. How he left his parents behind and grew into the underground world, meeting the scum of both worlds. How he found out that dragons and humans were not so different after all and how they would rebel for similar ideas. The years had passed far away from his home and yet he never forgot his parents and had sent them money or gifts regularly although he never had visited them ever since he walked out. His parents were now in their late nineties. The thought had hurt him to know that they could die any time soon and he wouldn't have had a chance to visit them one last time. The only thing that had ever preventing him to do so was his personal vow to never come back. At that very moment, he mentally cursed dragons blaming them for what he had become, hoping one day to eradicate them. His knuckles whitened on the edge at the heinous thoughts.

He breathed in deeply and closed his eyes dismissing all the bad ideas he just had. After all, dragons had been part of the reason for where he was nowadays. He has built his empire with them and against them, they were just as important as the humans around him despite his clear hatred for them. He had always hated them for as long as he could remember. Why did his parents had to hire those flying reptilians for babysitters? He was scared to death of them. He had dreamt that they would come and tear him to pieces every night. He had killed those cops who brought him home not because they brought him back but because they were dragons. He had wanted for all those years to decimate them and yet his rational mind had prevented him to do something so foolish and instead see the gold mine that they were, how he could take advantage of them by using them at his advantage or even beat some of their advance minds with his non-rational moves that he actually had perfectly planned to appear completely reckless. He had fought his way up the ladder one bloody step at a time, never looking back and never allowing his feeling to interfere with his actions.

But now, he knew that the end was near. That one day he will either retire and be forgotten or shot in the back by a younger power-hungry guy. He had never had to fear being convicted or chased by any kind of power, whether from the mafia or the police, as he carefully deleted all tracks behind him. Even the best of sentinel would not know a dime of all he did if he had followed him for all those years.

And yet.

His rational mind kept telling him that no matter how well he hid or destroyed evidence, someone somewhere will eventually find out and if he was not already dead, this would be it. His wrinkles seemed to deepen at the thought, he let go of the window's edge and sat down at his desk, his computer screen showed a graphic progression of all the sales going on and the stock exchange rate of his company.

He typed his password in and checked for new messages. None had came since he had answered a couple of them earlier this morning. He sent another one quickly asking that the task had to be done by tomorrow midday and wiped the message as soon as it was sent then closed his session.

***

Edmond, the mayor, had managed to do several meetings since Aldun departure, fixing usual problems within the village. His third one was a doctor. The middle aged man wore his practician clothes all the time. He looked at Edmond seriously through his round glasses.

"I'm afraid they are going to catch."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"The couple who wants to marry, Adam and..." he checked his papers "Shirkla."

"What about them?"

"They are compatible and their fertility level rose, the drug has a minimum effect on them."

"I don't need this now... How long before they are in cycle again?"

"Well, they are supposed to meet tomorrow again, they have asked for the intensive program that allowed them once a day at the mansion."

"Why did I have to get those in my town? Do what's necessary to delay their next meeting. Our new product will be out in a couple of days."

"Your orders."

The doctor nodded and turned his heels to leave.

"Magali," he called over the intercom, "bring me the Egglash schedules for the week. Include the details of Adam and Shirkla last month program."

Once again, Edmond grew agitated although less than he had been earlier today. He knew this would be just a mild annoyance that could be dealt with rapidly, yet he didn't want to spend time on this. And thinking of the fact that an hybrid could be conceived in his town, yuck!

Just as much as Aldun, he hated the simple idea that dragons and humans could marry and while he had to let go of non fertile wedding so he could control people's minds on more important things, he still could not tolerate them. As a mayor he was forced to assist and bless each of them even if only a dozen had ever occurred in the thirty years of his job, he still had to force a smile and make believe that he was enjoying it. His opinions on dragon wedding were similar but he, fortunately, had not had to bless many of them as dragons usually kept their old ritual when they married one another. Only a handful of them had asked for the mayor's blessing, probably by defiance as they probably had caught on the mayor's real intentions.

A busty woman entered the room, her red robes tight around her forms. The mayor looked at her but his gaze stopped at her neck for he did not really care of her, yet as a good male did not mind the view of a well formed chest.

"Ah thank you, put it here. Tell the Egglash I need a closer look on that couple."

She nodded and walked out. The pile of paper was quite large on his desk. He looked at it suspiciously and started reading them. All the details for each minute of their acts were written down there:

_ Monday, 0900 hours, the couple arrives at the mansion. They look unhappy. They are split to different room for examination._

_ Subject Shirkla: white western dragon, age: 96. Heigh: 6 ft. Length:20 ft. Labias puffed, pungent smell of pheromones, confirmed by chemical result: oestrus is imminent. Vaginal fluids abundant. Traces of human sperm remaining. Cervix depth at twenty inches. Detailed examination of blood shows receptiveness to human breeding. Drug dosage through beverage increased to 100 mg a day, critical dose limit reached. The subject is very wary of the regular examination, often attempt to talk the examiner out of it. Elevated blood pressure shows signs of nervousness._

_ Subject Adam: caucasian human, age: 32. Height 6.2 ft. sex: 8 inches turgid. Traces of dried dragon female fluid indicating copulation. Sperm potency: 99.7%. Bromine-based drug required as forced inhalation in confined mating chamber, no effect so far. Next dose increased to maximum safe level, risk of health problems. Subject rather calm during examination. Remains silent during the complete examination. Subject keeps looking around, has a great curiosity. Recent test has show intelligence greater than average. Will need tight control._

_ 1000 hours, the couple is brought to the breeding room. The dragoness lays on her back, she presents her engorged vaginal slit to her partner. The human caresses her sex repeatedly followed by the insertion of his middle finger into her vagina, some female lubrication appear on the finger in concordance to the female disposition to mate, approximate lubrication thickness of .3. The human moves his finger to her clitoris placing appropriate pressure on it with his thumb._

_ 1005 hours, the alarm rings to end the preliminary. The dragon places herself on her left side, her right leg flexed at the knee and her feet pressed on the first third of her tail. The human places himself between the dragon legs, his sex penetrates the dragon vagina for approximately five inches. ((Previous records have shown that impregnation is highly improbable even during the female subject climax due to the depth of the female subject cervix.)) The moans and voice pitch are regular and consistent to actual pleasure of copulation to each species and shows no sign of feigning intercourse._

_ 1007 hours, thrusts on both subjects have increase. Previous analysis showed the human subject would bring the dragon subject to orgasm before relieving himself, actual data confirms the previous results. Heat sensor shows an increase in body temperature normal with copulation parameters._

_ 1008 hours, both subject have reached orgasm, noticeable through a discharge of female climatic fluids in repetitive squirts throughout the subject plateau. Internal examination via special rays shows the human subject released his sperm within the dragon subject vagina at a depth of 10 inches maximum, which should not provide any significant result; later examination will confirm. Subjects heavy breathing and visible sweating concur to a successive mating, room is ventilated to clear all chemicals._

_ 1010 hours, Doctors have entered to separate the subjects again and bring them to further examinations._

_ No more significant data was found. Scanner shows drugs were administered and assimilated by the subjects bodies without noticeable ill effects._

_ The dragon subject named Shirkla is NOT pregnant._

Edmond sighed in relief at those last words. He read quickly through all the previous months papers. All seem to concur in their contents with always the same conclusion. Now all he had to do was to make sure that would stay the same, at all cost.

He sat down at his computer and started writing an email addressed to the manager of the mansion. The mail was concise and to the point. He did not need much to be clear:

Make sure they do NOT breed.
