Bruder, Mein Bruder
The year is 1257 A.D. This is a period where reformation of cultures and times were thriving throughout the European continent. In a small village on the outskirts of the Black Forest that will soon become Wolfach, tensions of a somewhat similar accord are rising high. During these years, the trees were so tall, that one could only see the sun for near three hours. This gave few of the animals an upper hand for surviving in the harsh environment being created day by day, and many others a ticket to death.
The two communities were different enough, but with the new animals moving into the forest and due to the Enlightenment era that they were living in, different views were rekindling the fires from centuries past. The opposite could be said for Jürgen and Dieter, for they agreed on everything and had a lot in common. They were great friends and were loyal to each other and their cultures. Dieter was pacifistic, but would fight given the morals of the war were right and for the better. Jürgen thought the same way, but was more of a military strategist than Dieter.
The two friends were torn apart and sent to serve in the military, Dieter as a sergeant and Jürgen as a brigadier general for his studies in military strategies. The war drew on and on, opening fronts all over the German states. Currently battles were taking place as far north as Northeim. The longest and battle fighting took place in the city of Frankfurt am Main, in the seventh year of the war. The battle lasted for eleven days.
own propaganda," thought Dieter. The last he had heard of the Bat was his journey from the base of Gotha to Stuttgart. Dieter was under the impression that his friend was on leave and vacationing, since that is what he liked to do most. So he set the army intelligence papers aside and continued to get dressed in his uniform for the upcoming awards ceremony.
There was a small cluster of buildings before the current patrol going between the Bats and the lower part of the town. Two Bats set up positions on either end to take out the soldiers on patrol, while the rest of the group opened fire on the three machine gun positions that were on either side of the road and on top of a tower. As the Bats progressed through the town, they met an onslaught of enemy fighters. The group finally reached the secondary radio station and radioed to the main station posing as Hawks saying that they were merely hunting.
The sudden shock of the explosion startled Dieter from his much needed sleep. He started getting dressed running down the hall asking for information on what was going on. He grabbed his pistol and any ammunition he could get his hands on and ran to the main level of the castle. He was told by the secretary working the office desk that it was a sneak attack and the number of enemy troops is unknown, as well as where any of them could be around the base. As soon as this was said, another shock went through the castle and all of the power went out. With this Dieter shouted an interjection and demanded his rifle.
"Sniper!!!" shouted Jürgen, as he dove back down, searching the horizon of the valley and the castle for the bullet's origin. Private Kurt murmured to his leader, "I got him, right between the eyes." He squeezed the trigger firing one round at the silhouette on top of the castle. Jürgen raised himself to watch the body fall to the ground and make sure it moved no more before progressing to the compound.
