As James woke up in the morning, he was unaware of the conversation that went on the night before, he yawned once and looked up to notice the dark blue ceiling with stars and a moon painted on them. As he tried to get up using the crib sides as a support, he fell down, squishing his wet and messy diaper. He didn't realize that he had mittens on until his hand slipped off the side of the crib leaving him in this position. Then out of nowhere, he began to cry and whimper as he had a very wet and messy diaper and wanted it off him badly. His normal reaction as a teen would have been to signal the camera, however, unbeknownst to him, whether he like it or not, his puppyish instincts were starting to slowly take over his life for him, it did not help that his brain was also now a new one.

The amount of noise he generated caught his mommy's attention who was fondly watching her little puppy sleep from her bedroom in the monitor. When he woke up, she stood up and began to walk towards his room, however when he fell down, and began to cry she began to run towards his room.

As she burst into his room, she was relieved to see that James was not hurt and that he just had a very full diaper by the smell coming from him.

"Shhh... Shhh... Mommy's here now, there's no need to cry, she whispered into his ear as she picked him up and began to rock him." Eventually, she calmed him down enough to be able to change him. "Someone's a little stinky isn't he?" She said to him quietly. "Come on now lets get you changed." She then pulled off his sleeper and removed his diaper and wiping away the mess. "It hurts a little down there doesn't it?" She asked James.

James just nodded irrationally fearing the worst to come.

"Well, you do look a little sore down there, and your fur isn't helping but I think I know how to fix that." She finished producing a small tube of rash cream made to be used with fur. She quickly extruded some and applied it to his diaper area, he winced from the sudden coolness touching his bottom.

"Harry is in school right now, so we can get you registered so you can get the benefits that a little one like you might need like the Guardian Angel program and a good education." She said smiling.

"It might be a little scary, but you'll also be getting your checkups today too."

James just stared on with horror at this prospect, as he remembered that checkups were not fun from somewhere that was not very clear to him.

Jane, finding that James would not enjoy being checked up, quickly took it upon herself and distracted him by blowing a raspberry into his belly, which he promptly giggled at.

Jane quickly pulled a khaki colored shirt over James' head and left for a moment, coming back with a pair of camo design cargo pants she pulled those onto James too, the pants, however were a little bit of a tight fit and made it obvious that he was wearing a diaper underneath.

"Oh, I think that might be a bit of a tight fit. It probably won't matter anyways seeing that we're going shopping today since you seem better now." She remarked.

She took him downstairs, went to the temperature regulating food storage unit and selected a bottle of warm milk, it took 10 seconds for the computer on the unit to register and heat the milk in it's storage.

In that time, James was entertained by all the blinking lights and the coloring of the screen and even tried to grab the lights even though it was a foot away from his hand. 'What am I doing?' He thought to himself before his brain drowned out his rational self with puppyish thoughts.

Jane quickly pulled James into a lying position in her arms humming and gently rocking him as he nursed on the bottle. After the feeding was complete, she noted the time was 10 and quickly put the bottle into the sink where it would be cleaned later on.

With that, she picked a sleepy James up and carried him on her hip while grabbing a couple bottles, she hesitated on grabbing a diaper bag, as the government passed a law years ago that all stores and restaurants must provide all paying customers as they are fully subsidized by the government.

She packed it anyways just in case that James got a full diaper on the way to the city center.

As she took her keys and bag to the car, she left to pack a stroller into the car's cargo bay after depositing James in the carseat and clipping him into a car seat that was far too large for him, which was a good decision, because as soon as Jane left, He began to struggle and turn trying to escape the car seat. If he had succeeded, the hard floor of the indoor driveway was waiting to greet him, fortunately for him nylon mesh netting has strength that rivals steel.

As he slowly expended his energy twisting and turning, he eventually decided to give up, as there was no use anyways in trying to escape was his reasoning as he would be caught and put back in his place.

"Alright James, it's time for you to go get your citizenship kid." Jane said coming out with a small tube which was the stroller, she walked over and placed the tube into the back of the car. "Ok kiddo, time for you to relax a little, you're getting restless. Take a little nap while we're heading there, it's gonna be a while." She continued noticing him acting restless.

The car of the human era(200 KA- 3050 AD) 2 million years ago was a marvel of transportation. The car of the era of peace(APD* 0 - APD 5026) was a marvel of engineering and technology. It had storage bays, a medical kit fit for the emergency room, electromagnetic suspension, passenger cameras, automatic temperature control, fine light control systems and a screen for controlling vehicle settings and entertainment.

At the press of a button, Jane dimmed all the lights in the back seat and adjusted temperature in the back to a warm 88 degrees to help him fall asleep.

Jane marked the vehicle to say that it contained a child, as it was the law that she do that for any passenger under 3 and highly recommended to do so for children under 9.

After she entered the freeway ramp, she moved the vehicle onto autopilot, and mapped the fastest route to the city center, which was about 30 miles away. Not too far, they could make it within the hour with all the city traffic. She set the car's autopilot on before moving to the back compartment with James, checking on his diaper manually and finding it dry, the faster they got a collar for James, the more convenient it would be for her as a mother, as the collar communicated with the diaper and relayed the capacity to the MPNCOM (Multi Purpose Neurotransmitting COMmunicator) she wore as a pendant around her neck.

As she watched her little one sleep, Jane decided that she would let nothing get between herself and James and Harris. She would protect her children old style if necessary and the law too was on her side no matter what she did as long as she did it in the protection of her little ones. She also thought back to seeing his eyes for the first time, her old son from the human had the same exact eyes as she did. She wondered if it could... just be possible that this was him or Harris.

As she was lost in her thoughts, she heard a jerk and went back to the front to check on what was the problem, what became obvious very quickly was not a problem at all, but just the inspection center before the city center. This was to be expected as her new son would come up as an "anomaly" on the safety officer's computers.

"Hello, Mrs. Kline, My name is Luis, Welcome to the city center, your vehicle states that you have a child on board, however your MPNCOM on you states that your only child is the age of 5 and should be in school, as the Leonaprian District Education Board requires that children under 14 must remain in school during designated hours unless there is an anomaly declared. I would normally ask you about any anomalies, however Harris Kline is currently attending Den City Primary School confirmed visually and by positioning. May I ask if you have any children with you that are not registered at the moment?" Said the Officer.

"Yes I do, He has a goddess visa, I'm bringing him into the city to have him registered." Jane replied

"May I have a visual to confirm that he is in the vehicle with you?"

"Of course officer, just be a little quiet, he's sleeping."

"Do you have any weapons to declare?" He replied nodding and glancing over to the vehicle's tinted back windows.

Jane just gave him a look that said 'What do you think?'.

The officer, shifted uncomfortably under the gaze. "My bad ma'am, just protocol."

It was Jane's turn to nod before she opened the door slowly letting the light in to reveal the sleeping puppy strapped into the car seat.

"He sure is a cute little one. What's his name?" The officer said smiling.

"His name is James Kline, the mainframe should have the rest of his information because I took him to the PARK yesterday and had him registered." Jane said giving him time to type his name into the computer.

"Okay ma'am, thank you for your cooperation in this matter, I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Have a nice day." Finished the officer.

The officer was frankly relieved to see the car leave the inspection area, as the mother, reminded him of one history video from his evolution class that showed a feral wolf killing a bear that tried to attack her pups.

Jane was just tired and annoyed at the officer's incompetence, the newer officers reminded her of nothing of her old crew who worked with no questions and only did what was told.

Jane was burst out of her thoughts when she heard the light beeping of the vehicle computer console that signalled that they had arrived at their destination, the hospital. Jane turned the vehicle off and went to the back seat of the car and waking up James.

"James, James wake up, we're here James." Jane said while gently shaking him awake.

James woke up with a smile on his face, his dream of playing with his mommy and having fun with his brother at the PARK again made him feel happy... until he remembered where he was again. The dreaded hospital didn't look as bad as he thought. His brain had supplied him images of tall white intimidating buildings with wolves in white uniforms walked around. It was quite the opposite, the front of the building was a colorful rainbow with the separate floors having different colors of the rainbow. The entrance hall was a large hallway with the sides that bloomed up into arches that had pictures of clouds and suns on them. The walls were rainbow design once again. The reception desk, had pictures of flowers and trees with apples on it.

As Jane carried him in he noticed the adult wolves all had colorful uniforms on instead of the sharp white uniforms that he dreaded them to have. The moment his mommy stepped into the hospital, the sharp scent of anaesthetic attacked his nose causing him to immediately clamp his paws over his nose.

"Why, Hello little one!" Said a kindly looking wolf at the reception counter. She seemed to be in her older 50's and had gray fur on her arms the rest was covered with a blue scrub. Her head had a blue cap on it to match her clothes. Her name tag said Maria Namika.

"Are you bringing your mommy in for a checkup?" She asked James seriously, but with a smile. "I'm afraid you'll need an appointment for that dear." She continued smiling . "However, we might have a check up scheduled for you. Ma'am, if you could fill out his name here and any other information here, also if you can, write the time here." She said pointing to a clipboard computer on the counter.

After about 10 minutes of waiting after filling out the form, the receptionist said, "Ok Mrs. Kline, your doctor, Dr. Kennedy is ready for you."

"Thank you ma'am." Replied Jane

The receptionist just nodded and pointed down a hallway.

As the pair walked down the hallway, a wolf who looked to be in his mid 20's and wearing a colorful scrub waved over to them. "Mrs. Kline, over here please."

As they walked into the examination room, James noticed it had a similar to the building's.

"Hello Mrs. Kline and James," He said, "I'm afraid we don't have much time, as I have a meeting with the medical board in an hour, so we can make this quick." He said casting a glance and smiling at James. "All the better, because I think your little one is anxious to leave too." He finished.

Now, to get the preliminary results, I'm going to have to run some tests, he pulled out a small transmitter patch from his pocket and sticking it onto the inside of James's ear causing him to release a giggle. Dr. Kennedy pulled out a computer from one of his pockets and checked his blood pressure, nerve function and heart beat.

"Seems like a healthy puppy to me, especially for a newborn." He declared.

"Mrs. Kline, as this is his first time here, we're going to have to take a blood sample, just as a precaution and for helix registration." Said the doctor.

"James, the doctor is going to take a bit of your blood, just be a brave little puppy for me ok?" She said to James with a smile while holding him.

James saw the sharp needle adding up sharp needle and skin, he nodded his head and buried his muzzle into her shoulder dreading the pain that his mind made him believe was to come.

"Here we go James on 3, 1.. 2.. 3.." Said the doctor apologetically.

James had never encountered so much pain before, even though it was a small needle, it was possibly his nerves or something was his thought. It took all his energy to not cry even before the needle went under his skin, but after the needle went in, he was beyond controlling himself, as he began to sob into his mother's shoulder as she rubbed his back and hummed softly into his ear.

The needle stayed in the skin for about 10 seconds as it drew blood, to James it felt like 10 hours, as it was agonizingly painful to feel the needle drawing his blood.

After the blood tap, James felt a little woozy, from the loss of blood, but otherwise okay.

'That wasn't so bad was it?' He thought to himself smiling as the doctor checked his ears eyes and nose. He then took a small box with a curve on the inside and pressed it against his arm checking his muscle density. The doctor then proceeded to take a sample of James's urine, which was a simple matter of asking his mother to change his diaper.

"Okay Mrs. Kline now that blood and urine samples and the physical have been taken care of, 1 last thing remains...." He said leaving...

'Oh this is bad, really really bad.' James though as the doctor came in

... with another needle, and this time it was bigger than last time.

"Sorry James," He said with a grimace, "Mandatory vaccination." He finished apologetically

'Oh shit get me outta here mommy.' He thought looking into her eyes entreating her silently to leave immediately. He only got a smile back and a not so reassuring rub on the back that was probably meant to reassure him.

The next response from James was an autonomic one as he began to quiver in fear. He had never done that before, but it felt better than just sitting and waiting to be injected.

"Aww... come on, it's only one more, you're lucky you weren't born 5 years ago, Harris had to take 10 shots before the government got smart and combined it into 1." Jane said trying to calm him down.

Then Jane got a brilliant idea, "I know what will settle you down." She quickly laid him down on the examination table and pulled his shirt halfway off. Then she began to rub his belly, just as before, James melted, all his tense muscles loosening immediately, he didn't even feel the needle go into his skin and didn't know it had already happened until after the doctor applied an adhesive bandage to his fur where he was injected.

"All finished." He announced, finished talking to his mommy and gave her a memory drive the size of a credit card with James's information on it. "I seriously hope you have a good day kid." He finished smiling, "I told your mommy to get you a little treat for being so brave for me." He handed her another drive with a medical supply icon on it.

"Thank you doctor." Jane said as she picked up James and carried him out of the room.

"James, you acted brave for me, and I think that warrants a little treat." She said kissing him on his muzzle.

'Well, kinda.' He thought smiling back. 'I'll still take the treat though.'

As they walked back to reception, Jane pulled him close and began to hum into his ear.

Finally, they made it back to reception where Jane thanked the lady and was about to thank the lady when she said, "Wait, I have a little something for the little one." and saying that she pulled out a candy that was the size of James's thumb and had a plate on the end of it to prevent him from accidentally swallowing the whole thing. "Specially made for puppies like you."

"Oh thank you so much Mrs. Namika, I'm sure James would say thank you if he could right?" She asked James.

James nodded his head vigorously as he was excited about the candy.

"Awww how sweet." said the receptionist in reply to James,"I hope to see you soon again little one. Bye now." She finished with a motherly smile. James waved to her and continued to wave over his mommy's shoulder, as they left the building.

As they got into the car, Jane quickly deposited James in the car seat with the candy as she went up front turning the car engine on and punching in the destination of the government registry before going into the back and checking on James who was now sucking happily on his sweet treat.

As Jane began stroking his head fur affectionately, James looked up to see his mommy beaming back at him tenderly.

"James you really are full of surprises aren't you?" She asked warmly.

"The doctor says that your muscles are amazingly developed, even for a crossover like you. He said that you should be able to talk in a few weeks. Walking should be available to you in less than week. No newborn has ever done that before. You truly are a special little one." She finished kissing him on the forehead.

Just as she finished talking, the driver compartment let out two low beeps indicating that they had arrived at their destination.

"Ok, are you ready to become a citizen now? Lets go!" She unbuckled James from the seat and lifted him up, tickling him and causing him to giggle.

She carried James into the official looking tall black building with a gate around it and a Leonaprian District seal carved into the stone of the sign that was at the entrance of the building.
