A Soldier's Appifany

A man of war seeks out his shattered soul. He wanders for years and comes upon such a meadow. The silence overwhelms him, the stillness of which reawakens something that was lost. This is the moment it comes back.

He falls to his knees as a stream of tears trickle down his right cheek as he slowly reaches up to his face. He starts to look at each individual flower around him and he feels overwhelmed by the sheer amount of memories that he is recollecting, sort of like someone just plugged in a pen drive. He remembers WHY he went to war, WHY he did what he had to do. Each independent flower moves in the sweet breeze that passes by him and he finally feels peace for all his wrong doing. He stares at the sunset as he chokes back his tears.

A breeze passes around the meadow, ruffling his hood. He slowly pulls it back, allowing the breeze to clear his mind of the chaos he has endured. Wiping back his tears, he revels in the peace and stability he has helped achieve. Nothing is more beautiful than peace and stability. This last thought crosses his mind as he lays down to rest and breathe in the scent of the earth he is lying on. His soul had never felt more free.

His soul and mind start to travel across space and time. As he opens his eyes a gust of wind blows around him, the flowers twitch in the wind and the wind blows gently across his face, he stares at the now purple sky and the dark and gloomy clouds rushing around him and he starts to think.

But what is there to think about?

Too much.

Wouldn't it be better if he just, switched off?

No.

Not after all that has happened.

He can't just leave. He must stay. He must fight. He must...

Live.

Hey guys thank you for taking your time to read my poem I created this in school for a project with a friend of mine. The reason we chose this topic is because he is absolutely mad on war and guns ect. and this is a topic I feel strongly about due to some family members and close friends of mine serving.I have respect for anyone in any country that serves for their country as it is a extremely brave thing to do especially on the front lives. Not matter what you do in the army, navy ect. you a doing a great thing that not many other men and women are willing to do.

_ This is a special post just for all those serving in the army R.I.P _
