#1 of The Wolf of the Goddess

Understand that for this I merely created a new subspecies rather than a completely different species.

Nothing too dramatic.

Before I get criticized on the evolution and body development part, realize that I added goddess power(essentially magic) to this equation and that screws over a lot of laws and stuff.

Other than that feel free to hate on grammar and etc.

The Leonaprian Gray Wolf Subspecies

Genus: Canis Lupus Leoprius

The Misconception of the Leonaprian subspecies of the Gray Wolf is that they are a result of a human and wolf hybrid that formed millions of years ago, However, prezygotic barriers prevent them from being able to mate at all(even a goddess cannot change that as umm puzzle pieces don't exactly tend to fit and neither do zygotes). In reality, their body structure is a result of convergent evolution, as quadrupeds slowly became unviable in the environment as determined by the Goddess Leonapria. A little bit of a certain Goddess' divine power to speed things up a few million years and the Biped Leonaprian Gray wolf appeared. Humans are in no way related to these wolves as they branched off way back from the main tree of the class of mammals.

However, human DNA can be altered in a specific way that changes all the DNA in the human body from human into wolf DNA. This is the work of a certain impossible virus called the Lenapravirus, named after a certain goddess who created it. The virus spreads through the body rapidly through the circulatory system, lymphatic system and the nervous system, when the systemic infection is complete, the body is then transformed over the course of 30 minutes into a Leonaprian Gray Wolf as the virus completely overrides the body's genetic coding, injecting DNA to forcibly replace the human DNA. The body is shut down for the duration of the operation, however if conscious then the human undergoing the process will undoubtedly be in an immense amount of pain.

After the process is complete, the virus, still being an earlier strain and not being allowed to evolve, starts the body as a factory default copy of a generic Leonaprian Gray Wolf.

The body's mass shedding of skin and replacement of organs causes unknown side effects, of these being stages happening at wrong moments in a current time line. As the body was not developed in a womb with all processes being completed at different times, the body's developmental stages are still being triggered at times different than that of a newborn wolf.

The reason for higher claw and teething ages for Virused Wolves are because of the fact that their body uses excess amounts of calcium for the growth of fur while the virus is changing the body's skin. Because of the fact that the body's DNA is not aged and that the bodies of these wolves are enhanced, their lifespan is lengthened significantly.

However, the disadvantages of becoming a wolf is that there is a period of time that is usually between 1 - 4 days after the transformation where newer antibodies detect foreign proteins on the membranes of the organ cells, as they have not completed a replication cycle and still contain parts of human cells. The antibodies remove all older organ cells in a process called a systemic purge. The organs only take approximately 45 seconds each as to not leave the other parts of the body traumatized. The skin cells, however remain intact, because those cells were rapidly replaced during the virus' change. The organs rapidly shed cells leading to immense pain, however, because the body must remain conscious for the brain to be fully replaced, there is no safe way to sedate the body as it is undergoing change. During the 30 minute change that takes place, the body removes excess cells through the excretory and digestive systems. Cells in inaccessible areas have their mass converted into lipids. The tail also begins to grow as they do not have tails when they are transformed by the virus.

During the systemic purge, there is no long term trauma felt from the purge, because all cells except for skin cells are replaced including neurons. The brain is completely replaced, the mind still retains "factory settings" knowledge as to how to do math, read, etc. from their previous life, however they do not retain any knowledge about themselves and memories are all erased, their names, old age, parents, etc. However, memories gained are retained as they are stored in specific neurons that were created after they were transformed into wolves. However, because there are no memories to support this knowledge, the brain succumbs to the infantile instincts of the mind and usually locks away these types of knowledge until it is needed again. The only part of the body left completely untouched is the brain stem, this allows the wolf undergoing the process to stay alive as his bodily processes continue as normal the brain stem is changed in a separate process that takes place over the first 4 years of life.

However, the whole process takes approximately 10 hours due to the need for the brain to be slowly replaced as it is a fragile matter, the body tends to take it's time with that. During the brain recovery period, however which takes the rest of the time(9h 30m) the patient's mind is shut down to prevent damage, if this does not occur, it is also imperative to sedate the patient.

During the process, it is imperative to restrain the wolf undergoing this process as suicidal tendencies are at an unnaturally high rate, 10 times the rate for depression at it's lowest point, The mortality rate for this process is extremely low, the only fatalities being from unrestrained wolves that managed to kill themselves during this process.

This process does not need to be supervised by medical staff, as no medication is needed at all.
