#6 of Case Files

So, here is the latest part. As promised I've done 5 'official' parts of this story and will go back to Time for a Change for another 5 entries after this. Or, more accurately, after I do something a little different. A while ago I was going to run a superhero rpg and it fell through, but I was very happy with the setting. So I'm going to write that up as a resource for people to use if they want. :D Then I'll be back onto TFAC.

Much as I would like to gather some more information, I have a feeling I will be up against a legal dead end at this point. If the work was carried out by a noble house then I can't simply send out a request that they contact me with this guy's specs. If it was an ultra-illegal experiment then the same applies.

Right now the best information to find will be the location of the killer. As such I start casting about for probable bolt holes.

Since there has not been another killing just yet that means they are out of the way somewhere. I check streets in the direction it loped off according to the info cam. It appears there are a lot of warehouses and automated loading facilities in that direction. Those would make good hiding spots for someone, even if they were as big as an equine.

I start pulling up mundane crime reports from that area. There is always a chance there is a clue amongst those that will lead me to the killer. I remember when a child's report that a 'bad guy' was hiding in his building's wash room turned out to be a wounded clan-ganger. Just ignoring mundane reports is never a good idea. Besides, now I know roughly what I am looking for I can pick out anything that looks suspicious.

Like this one; a broken street-cleaning automata. Apparently it was smashed off its wheels and nearly jammed into a shop window. That was reported as a transport accident - hit and run. But it is about a street away from here. And then we have this noise complaint. Several people reported a loud noise like a horn or alarm being played at high volume not half a block away.

And then I notice the report of a patrol dispatched to investigate suspicious activity in one of the automated loading facilities. Apparently someone reported a large, 'weird' equine breaking through a barrier gate.

I pull up the comms channel for the patrol noted on the console. I get nothing but static. That's not good.

Since there have been no further reports, even as the streets fill with civilians, it looks like they might still be inside the facility. There is about three square miles of automated processes and cargo storage hubs there. I start calling for backup and an encirclement of the facility. It looks like it is time to go pay our killer a visit...
