History of Thornbrier and Ashworth Power & Research

At a young age Thornbrier's village was bombed by anti-morph terrorists. Few survived. Shi was adopted by Hannah Ashworth, widow of Sahara Ashworth who had also died to an anti-morph terrorist bomb a couple days after their wedding. The bus bomb had been targeting the many morphs who worked for her company. Thorn was raised in a gleaming tower in Ashworth Australia, the industrial city which Sahara and her brother Hadrian had founded together around their corporate complex known as Ashworth Power and Research. Uncle Ashworth was hir father figure and allowed hir rather free reign over the facilities, as long as shi could provide a solid argument for why it would be useful and potentially profitable he would fund it.

Having lost her hips and legs in the explosion, her wife's body shielding her from most of the blast, Hanna used experimental robotic legs and required a series of surgeries on a regular basis. Wanting to be more like hir mom, Thorn decided to get neural implants as well, though hirs were more aimed at being able to access the vast array of information provided by the global information network. Over the years shi had it upgraded several times until hir internal computer rivaled most interstellar ship computers when hooked into external cooling.

Inspired both by hir childhood fantasy of being a Sai (a fictional antagonist species from a children's cartoon aimed at morphs) and the desire to help hir mother, Thorn initiated the AP&R's biomedical division which eventually created the LimbGraft® product line and worked with the Australian government to ensure proper testing, distribution, and availability in their effort to help any one become what they believed they should be. At present LimbGraft® only works on the relatively 'clean' genetics of morphs, but scientists are still working on how to apply the procedure to the complex varieties of human and alien gene structures. Thornbrier hirself has used the procedure to grow and graft an additional pair of arms as well as inserting the seed cells which grew into an additional pair of breasts after settling down on Chakona.

In the field of engineering Thornbrier took a special interest in power armors as a child. Shi loved to watch the Power Armor Arena Fights, the teamwork, the teleporting, stunning their opponents with rapid fire weapons, jump jetting all around the battlefield as they raced to score kills or capture points. Shi dedicated much of hir study to figuring out how to lower the weight of a tauric power armor to be below the regulation weight while still being flexible enough to compete. One night shi had one of hir many visits from a future self, this one brought hir the design for a new interlink which would properly bridge the gap between the upper and lower portions of the armor without being excessively heavy. After testing the design shi published it for use royalty free to allow more taurs into the PAAF, shi had already come up with ideas for improving it, but kept those for hir own armors.

AP&R sponsored the Flying Tigers team into the PAAF with Thornbrier as team captain and chief engineer. Hir unknown psionic talent with teleportation proved most advantageous aiding hir team in earning the Grand Championship twice. This brought AP&R considerable standing and profit as sole providers of hir many patented armor and teleportation components. After hir second grand championsip win Thorn decided shi wanted to retire from the sport, but figured shi would help spread PAAF to other worlds first, particularly ones with high taur populations who had previously been disadvantaged in the games. Shi would retire to Chakona at the end of the Worlds Tour.

While on the Worlds Tour the transport ship was diverted for some scans of an anomalous black hole, it was a simple task, until the ship suddenly started experiencing system failures. Thornbrier went out in a modified armor to repair some of the systems but was yanked from the ship and fell into the black hole. Shi was presumed lost and the rest of the Tour was canceled, hir fans mourned hir loss.

Five years later a passing military ship received a signal from what looked like a black hole, but as the ship approached the black hole vanished to reveal a star system within. The soldiers managed to rescue Thornbrier and one of the natives who had been helping hir. After debriefing Thornbrier did retired to Ashworth Estate on Chakona as planed, but with far less fanfare as the military classified the hidden planet to be top secret. A minor conspiracy was initiated in which AP&R 'leaked' documents claiming that Thornbrier had faked hir own death so shi could retire in peace. Between the sports waning popularity and Chakona's stance on non-violence Thornbrier was able to retire with little question, only die hard fanatics insisting there was more to the story.

Thornbrier was given full control and royalties on hir many patents but was otherwise cut off from AP&R. Thornbrier met and fell in love with Keda the wolf who shi took as hir husband, Moonshard who shi took as hir wife, Silveratus who shi took as hir pet, Gildedtongue who become like a motherly denmate, Snowbreak who became a sisterly lifemate, and Tizona, hir latest lifemate. Neo the Foxtaur and Tempest are also denmates, and Otsen Sendrik, Astarot, and Scotty Panthertaur are also companions.

Nearly half a year after settling in on Chakona Uncle Ashworth died, leaving the company with no heirs. Hannah pulled several strings and got the board to transfer ownership of the company to Thornbrier, who immediately placed a trusted friend, Xi, as CEO (the first Morph to be CEO of one of Earth's MegaCorperations). This caused lots of suspicion and speculation, but was certainly not out of line with AP&R's history of being on the leading edge of social change. AP&R had always been a major supporter of morph rights, but now, not only was the CEO a morph, but the owner was a modified 'body freak' who didn't even live in the same star system. Security spending is currently significantly high to counter attacks from organizations like Earth First who saw AP&R as a major threat to their way of life. AP&R is currently investing in a small fleet of ships to takes its operations into a much wider field, no longer reliant on the Star Corp for their extra solar research data collection.
