#2 of A Dying Breed

Darkness...

Endless darkness...

Nothing stirred...

Nothing lived...

Suddenly, there was a piercing light, like a starburst, and everything was flooded in light.

Sam and I were floating in space, yet not in space.

We saw stars and planets floating around us.

And from the void, came a voice.

"It is not yet your time," it said, "I shall allow you to live, for you two are the final hope of your race, and your world,"

We were stunned, for we had, not long ago, died. Or at least, we thought we had.

"Wh- who are you?" Sam asked, hesitantly.

"I am Dialga," the mighty voice rumbled, "I am the master of time, and one of the Legendary Dragon trio, and I have pulled you out of time for a task that could save, or annihilate, your race, and your world,"

"B-but we're dead, aren't we?" I asked.

"Because I control time, I can alter things that happen, or return people from the dead if I wish it,"

"So, what is this job you want us to do?" Sam asked.

"Nothing, except save your species, because as a whole, your people are dying. And if even one species of pokemon die, the whole planet will die with it, so finely balenced are the scales of life. Simply, I want you to survive your species' downfall. Nothing can stop your race from dying, but if I can stop you two from dying, your species will endure, and the planet won't be destroyed," Dialga explained.

"What are you going to do to us?" I asked, a tinge of unease flowering in my voice.

"I will give you endless days, so you two won't die. So you two can outlast the collapse of your civilisation, and so you can begin it anew, without hatred or greed clouding your vision. So that the world won't pass away, following the eevees into the great void,"

Suddenly, there was a bright flash of light, and we found ourselves lying on the cliff that we had spent so many nights together on.

* * * * * *

We got up, confused and disoriented. Then we saw that the last ten feet of the cliff had broken off.

We went over to the edge, and looked down.

There, we saw the broken bodies of the five Elders, lying among the rocks that were gathered around the base of the cliff.

"I'm sorry that it had to come to this," Sam said.

"Yeah, me too," I replied.

We turned to each other, and I saw her eyes swimming in tears.

"I'ts alright," I said to her, "we're safe now, and so is everyone in the village,"

"B-but what if what that Dialga said was true? What if our race really is doomed?"

It was only then I realised that, while I had heard her voice, her lips didn't move.

"What the hell?" I asked.

"What?"

Then, I realised that I was hearing her in my mind, and if I strained myself, I could an eerie, discordant melody coming from, what seemed like, her inner consciousness.

"Matt?" I heard her ask, a look of fear in her eyes, and the emotion flooded across the link between our minds.

"I'm alright, I think," I said, this time, registering the fact that I didn't speak with my mouth.

She still looked a little aprehensive, but she switched subjects.

"What should we do now?" she asked.

"Go to the village, and tell everyone the truth. I doubt they'd care if the Elders died," I replied, indifferently.

With that, we started towards the village.

No sooner than we had gone more than a dozen steps, when we heard a great cry come from the trees beside the road.

We turned and saw all the city guards that had come with the Elders rushing towards us.

We prepared ourselves for a fight, when they stopped before us, and knelt.

We both looked at each other, utterly confused, when the lead guard spoke.

"Oh, mighty warriors, thank you for getting rid of those horrible tyrants, and for saving our humble village from the likes of them. We are forever in your debt."

With a shock, I realised it was Ven, my closest childhood friend. He was exactly the way I remembered him, but it was obvious that he didn't recognise me.

I walked up to him, and lifted him to his feet.

"Nay," I said, this time with my mouth, "you don't owe us anything. For our lives were as blighted by them as yours was,"

"Matt?" Ven asked, realisation dawning on his face, "is that really you?"

"Yup!"

He then surprised me by tackling me to the ground, and started to wrestle with me, the same way that we used to, when we were kids.

As we got up again, looking rather dusty, Sam barely suppressed a giggle, but her amusement flowed across our mental link.

"What's so funny?" I asked, suddenly self-conscious.

"Oh, nothing, just you're covered in dust," she replied, before she burst into a fit of giggles.

I looked around myself and shrugged.

Concentrating, I lifted the dust off my fur with my psychic powers, and blew it off the cliff.

"Would you look at that!" one of the guards exclaimed.

Sam and I turned around to look at the cliff again, to find the dust that was previously on me, now turned into black-and-gold motes, and were glittering as the wind blew them to the farthest reaches of the land.

Smiling, we all made our way back to the village. As we walked down the main street, there was a great uprising of cheers as the villagers learned of the news.

Then, I saw my parents, and it was if everything else had disappeared, and I only saw them. What shocked me even more, was the distinct feeling that they didn't recognise me. To be honest, I didn't really recognise myself at the moment.

I walked up to them, and beckoned to them to follow me.

We walked towards the Temple, which was traditionally an Elder-only area, apart from the occational criminal who was brought before them, and the Temple guard.

As we entered the gates, I had a distinct feeling that we were being watched. I looked up to the tree where, on my first visit, I had spotted a phoenix-like creature, and to my surprise, it was still there.

Suddenly, I felt a strange presense in my mind, and from that, a voice.

"Welcome," it said simply.

"Who are you?" I asked, in my mind.

"I am the guardian of the Temple of Elders," is replied, in kind.

I waited for it to elaborate, but when no answer was forthcoming, I moved on, bowing slightly to it before I went.

As we arrived at the Temple steps, we turned around, and found that the entire village was trying to get inside the Temple grounds.

A guard rushed up to us.

"We aren't going to be able to hold back the villagers if they keep up with this," he said, with a slight tinge of wariness about him, as if we were going to punish him for bringing us the news.

"Well, why are you just standing around for?" Sam asked, "let them in!"

The guard glanced at her in surprise.

"B-but ma'am, that's against the Elder's code,"

"You saw as well as we did that they were unfit for ruling, and I can't say that we could be much better. But we, as a village, have to decide on a fairer way of controling things around here," she replied, shortly.

"Begging your pardon then, ma'am," he replied, then dashed off.

I turned around then, to look at my parents. They were actually looking slightly afraid, which troubled me.

"Mum? Dad?" I asked.

"M-Matt? Is that really you?" my dad asked, relief spreading across his face, "you disappeared a long time ago, and we were worried sick!"

I bowed my head in shame.

"I had no choice, once I evolved, the Elders wouldn't let me out of the Temple,"

Sympathy spread across their faces, as they rushed towards me, and engulfed me a hug.

That perfect moment was soon broken by the stampeding hordes of villagers who rushed up to us.

Sam and I walked to the top of the Temple steps, so that we were above the villagers.

"People of Innail," I said, both with my mouth and my mind, so everyone would hear.

The crowd went silent.

"On this day, the Elders are dead!" I said, and a great cheer went up, "Their tyrany is over, and we are free!"

This aroused even more cheers out of the village.

"Now, we are ruled by people who we elect to rule us, not because they are further along the evolutionary path than us. Now, we are free to say what we want, and not be afraid to be punished for it!"

The crowd went ecstatic at this, and their cheers and praises could be heard for miles around.

I put my hand up to quiet them.

Silence.

"Today is the dawn of a new era, an era of peace and prosperity!"

With that, I turned around and walked into the Temple, with Sam and my parents following behind me.

"What's wrong?" Sam asked, in my mind.

"Nothing, everything, I don't know," I replied, confused, "I've just got a bad feeling, like something bad is about to happen,"

She came up to me, and gave me a quick peck on the cheek, and I instantly felt better, for as long as she was with me, I had nothing to fear.

Suddenly, there was a great uproar outside, in the courtyard, and we dashed back out.

We first noticed that the light was a dim, ruddy-brown colour.

Then we noticed the bodies.

Almost half of the eevees that had assembled in the courtyard less than a minute ago were lying on the ground, dead.

The remaining eevees were either running or staggering away.

"Oh, no!" I heard Sam gasp beside my, "It's started already!"

Memories of the encounter with Dialga blazed in my mind.

"This must be what he meant!" I exclaimed.

"What who meant?" both my parents asked.

Then, shockingly, my dad doubled over and gave a great, heaving cough.

"Dad!" I yelled, and rushed over to him.

He fell to his knees, and started to cough up blood with hoarse groans.

He collapsed into the foetal position, shuddering, then went still.

"Dad?"

Nothing.

I extended my mind out towards him, in the faint hope that he was still alive, but I felt nothing.

"Matt," Sam said from behind me, with urgency.

I didn't respond.

"Matt!" she yelled.

I turned around to find my mother lying dead on the ground.

I was numb.

Nothing was real anymore, except for Sam's comforting presense beside me.

I collapsed into sobs on her shoulder, not wanting to face the sight of my dead parents lying before me.

I then felt an overwhelming desire to be somewhere, anywhere, other than here.

No sooner than the thought entered my mind, than I was in a lush, green field, with Sam standing beside me.

I collapsed onto the soft grass, quietly sobbing for all the things that were lost, for all the people killed, and for all the beauty destroyed.

"Matt? Do you need time by yourself?" Sam asked, concerned.

I looked up, quickly, with fear in my eyes.

"No, I wouldn't like that,"

She gave a little giggle, which seemed strange.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

"I know what'll make you feel better," she replied.

She tackled me to the ground and started to tickle me.

I started to giggle along with her, and before she knew it, I flipped her over, and started to tickle her instead.

"Wait," she said.

She got up, and walked away from me a little bit.

"Follow me," she said, simply.

She walked off, along a path that I hadn't noticed before.

I hurried to catch up to her, as I struggled up the ever-increasing slope of the path.

When I finally caught up to her, she was sitting on a ledge, high over the plains below.

I sat next to her, happy to just be with her, when I saw the sunset.

It was full of colours, reds, oranges and just the slightest tinge of purple could be seen. It was one of the most beautiful things that I had ever seen. The most beautiful thing, though, was sitting next to me.

As the sun vanished behind the mountains bordering the west side of the continent, a red glow coloured the air, turning everything a light shade of pink.

We watched the sun's last rays disappear together, when she turned to me.

"Matt?"

"Yeah?"

"Any better?"

"Sort of,"

"Let me try something,"

Suddenly, I felt a yank around my chest, then I was floating, ever so slightly, above the ground.

Just as suddenly, I found myself on the ground again, only this time, on my back.

Sam slowly approached me, then started to kiss my chest.

She started to move further down, untill she was right above my crotch.

I tried to get up, but she pushed me down again.

"Oh no, you're not getting out of this that easily!"

"Oh yeah?" I asked, teasingly.

"Nope!"

With that, she started to suck on my cock, enticing groans from both of us.

I got up, and this time, she didn't stop me, she knew what I was going to do...

I climbed on top of her, and plunged my semi-erect penis deep inside of her.

"Matt!" she cried out, before losing herself to complete ectacy.

All this did was encourage me further, and I soon settled into a comfortable rhythm.

It wasn't long before we were both covered in sweat, but we didn't mind, so lost were we in each other's eyes and minds.

Suddenly, I heard her moans get louder, and I felt her tense up beneath me.

She started to jerk beneath me, as she started to orgasm, squirting cum all over the place.

It wasn't long before I peaked as well, sending my white hot cum deep inside of her.

"Mmm, that felt so good..." Sam moaned from beneath me.

"Really?" I asked, sort of embarrased.

"Hell, yeah!" she exclaimed.

I looked over the plains below us, and on the horizon, I could see the faint outline of Innail, shrouded in a vile, brown haze.

My misery returned in waves, obliterating any happy feelings that I might have felt before.

Sam got up again, and padded over to beside me. She sat down, and wrapped her tail around mine, in an effort to comfort me.

I gazed over into her eyes, those beautiful green eyes, and I found a loving companion that would never leave me, and I was comforted by it.

As her mind reached out for mine, the haunting melodies of her inner-most consciousness swept away all feeling but one...
