Super Slush

By Luther

Somewhere, in a relatively remote and lonely rest station along the highway, a pair of travelers had stopped to refresh themselves. Leaving the car behind, Dragonien was thankful to get the chance to walk around and stretch his legs. Meanwhile, his feline companion had entered the convenience store to avail himself of the drinks and foodstuffs offered there.

A wide selection designed to tantalize the weary wandered was doing just that and Gnarl found himself mentally pressed on what to choose, armed only with a small handful of change liberated from the car's cup holder. His attention was ultimately drawn by the bright blue color churning round and round in the window of the Mr. Frostie machine and the mechanical yet somehow comforting hum of its electric freezing unit. It was a particularly warm day and the placard in front of the machine promised frosty magic in every cup. The choice was obvious: he selected the 'mega gulp' size and poured it stupidly full to the point where forcing the lid on pushed come out the top like a slushy volcano, the straw would have to fight for room.

The long-tusked boar minding the store looked down at Gnarl, his face an emotionless mask reflecting the drudgery of his position in stark contrast to the ever-present wide smile on the chesire cat's face as he pushed the money over the counter. The boar shrugged and let the brownish slate colored cat along his way out the door, flicking his long and ludicrously fluffy green-striped tail as he did so.

Gnarl was already drawing heavily on that straw by the time he was outside, trying to get the precious berry blue stuff to ooze back into the plastic dome. The duo were not quite ready to get back into the car just yet and so found themselves rejoined near a high bench which Gnarl sat upon, Dragonien electing to lean against the lamppost next to it. The red dragon craned his head over to see what the cat occupied himself with. Gnarled swung his legs back and forth on the bench, too short to quite reach the ground.

"Super slush?" asked Dragonien.

The cat, not taking his lips from the straw, nodded at the dragon's amazing powers of observation.

"Mind if I-?"

"Get your own," Gnarl replied, smiling.

So with a bit of a huff he went to go do just that. Again, it was a hot day, and the little feline was lucky he was cute. Gnarl, meanwhile say happily with his drink until he noticed an odd tingling in his toes, toes that were now firmly pressed against the pavement. He stopped drinking a moment and leaned forward to inspect his feet, now noting how tight his pants were.

Not much sooner than had Dragonien entered the shop and spied the slush machine in the back did he notice the big "out of order" sign draped over it and the fact that it was currently turned off, the slush settled to the bottom of the bin.

"What the- Hey, anyone here?"

The boar was also gone.

"Are you kidding me?" Dragonien went back outside, determined to see if maybe the cashier had went around back for something. Nope, nobody there either. He was on his way back to Gnarl to ask if he knew to where the porcine proprietor has vanished. Then he stopped when he saw the feline.

Gnarl was standing up once more but now a good head taller than Dragonien, a somewhat alien sight for him. The shirt he wore had ridden up on him to the point where it resembled a tube top, exposing his tight and toned tummy while his shorts had lost their button and stretched downward to reveal the top of his pinkish boxer shorts. Everything on him looked as if it were about to tear itself straight from his slowly growing body. And that's when the dragon noticed he wasn't just tall, he was still getting taller.

Despite all this, the chesire was still sipping as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "Hey tiny," Gnarl said teasingly. It was the only real break he took from the thing. What the hell could have been causing it and why wasn't Gnarl freaking out?

"The slush!" Dragonien blurted out loud in his moment of realization.

It's magic, of course, it doesn't have to explain shit.

The Mr. Frostie was apparently not just magic in a cup, but the cup was magic too. It seemed to grow with him in his hands, resisting our instinctual assumption that it should be staying the same size and becoming comically small for the rapidly enlarging cat. Soon Gnarl literally became too big for his britches and with a snapping of waistband they dropped to the ground to join his destroyed shirt as well, leaving him free to prance merrily about in his tight, brightly colored underpants.

Well, nobody else seemed to be around at least.

But that was a secondary concern to Dragonien, now eyeing the beverage. "Hey! Gimmie some of that!" said as he rushed towards his towering friend, making grabby hands.

"No! Mine!"

Gnarl thought to leap away but surprisingly found himself able to keep back the dragon with his enormous and now person sized tail alone. It was sort of amusing. Dragonien tried to grab his fluffy assailant and push it aside but quick and strong muscles would just have it whip back to become and obstacle once more.

"Aw come on!"

"Nope!" Rebuffed once more.

As a measure of spite, Gnarl took grand and deep pulls on it, honoring the mega gulp name on the label and sucking it down quickly. Being caught up in this turn of events, he forgot why one doesn't do that and brought upon himself a case of brain freeze.

The big cat's hands seized up and went to his poor forehead to provide succor, momentarily neglecting the cup and letting it fall.

"Aaagh! Cold, cold, ow!"

Dragonien was there to catch it with both arms. The thing was like a tub of popcorn now, just huge! Gnarl stumbled back a bit and braced against the lightpost until his brain thawed once more but, by the time it did he just saw a red flash of Dragonien's hind as he disappeared down the path and around the building with his Mr. Frostie.

"Hey! Come back with that!" the big kitty called as he chased after.

Gnarl's underwear was getting exceedingly small for him and was starting to bind, making it just a little bit harder to catch up. Yet, for all its tightness, the bulge that formed in the front of them bounced as he ran. Can't stop physics from doing its thing and making his junk wobble back and forth. He found himself hobbled a bit as it dug into his sides, then relived as the elastic surrendered and popped off of him, sending his briefs off into the bushes somewhere and leaving him entirely in the nude. Why should he start caring now? Not like there was anyone around.

The dragon was not used to running from a giant Gnarl. Thinking as much on his feet as he could, he decided to cut to the left off the path and into the trees, hoping to lose him among them -or at least for long enough. The cat's new twelve-foot height just meant he would have more obscuring branches in his field of view.

Having been drinking along the way the entire time, the dragon was now starting to feel the effects as well. He was right, it was the slushie after all! Already he could feel the strange sense of stretching coupled with a light vertigo and his own clothing drawing in on him. They soon began to fail like Gnarl's did before and Dragonien felt himself become more and more skyclad, a bright red target flitting through the trees. Up past nine feet, beyond eleven or so, and then further still. It was hard to tell exactly when you only had trees to help guess how tall he had gotten.

Dragonien felt the ground behind him shake and didn't even have to look behind to know that Gnarl was almost on him. But by now he was almost as tall as the cat, maybe even more so! Still he ran, rather than risk losing the slush with confrontation. Though with both the burden of the slush and having to find a path through the trees among the increasingly diminishing options, it wouldn't be delayed for long.

The red dragon felt, or rather sensed, something coming up behind him and to his left so he dodged right and saw the form of the cat fly past him, trying to spear him from behind and knock him to the ground. It was a close call.

And as the cat missed and overshot his dive, Dragonien kept growing. As Gnarl recovered and got back up to his feet, Dragonien kept growing. As he tried to come in for a second pass, you get the idea. Dragonien was a little more prepared when the feline came at him again and backed himself against a tree to put it between the two of them, playing keep away.

Of course this only works as long as the tree is bigger than you.

The dragon had underestimated just how quickly he was growing. The cup had diminished to a more manageable size for him and was holding there in proportion. Meanwhile his fin-like ears were peaking over the tops of the same tree he tried to use as cover. Bigger became less nimble and a thirty-odd something foot tall dragon could only feint for so long. At last he felt something clasp around his leg, it was Gnarl.

Dragonien didn't entirely know what Gnarl was planning on doing, having grabbed the giant leg, and neither did Gnarl. Seemed like a good idea at the time. The cat quickly found himself tipped back over. Imagine if you had just grabbed hold of a tree and the tree threw you off like a bucking bronco. Gnarl hit the ground on his back, tossing up a small cloud of dust and pine needles, several of which stuck in his fur.

The dragon seizes this opportunity to put his foot on the feline. It was nothing too hard and he didn't put any serious weight into it, just enough to keep the cat of half his size from effectively getting back up. Whenever he tried to shimmy and slide out from underneath, Dragonien would just adjust it. There wasn't really much he could do other than watch the looming dragon rise further and further over him.

Well, other than be a little bastard, that is. Hey, one does what they can when literally underfoot and it was exactly the underside of that foot he targeted. Risky, but worth it. The cat worked his fingers down there and played them across the bottom, digging in just a little as he had to with something so large, and proceeded to tickle him. There was little reaction at first from the distracted dragon but then a laugh mid-drink forced him to stop, coughing as he did. The gambit paid off. The dragon dropped the cup and it fell into his waiting arms. Manna from heaven!

Gnarl rolled out from underneath the foot as Dragonien reeled back. He scampered away, which is an impressive thing to do at that size! Like a squirrel with a nut, he clutched the dear thing closely as he ran off. He wasn't about to give it up this time and the dragon was right behind him. There was only so much of the stuff left. He popped the lid off and just upended it, letting it slide into his mouth in as controlled a manner as possible in a frantic chase.

Up ahead stood a rock face with an opening in it, a cave entrance. Yeah, thought the cat, dive into the cave. Not like anything could be living there, it was a completely safe and smart idea. The last the dragon saw of him was the tip of that green-banded tail vanish inside. There was a slight problem for him, though. He was too big to fit through.

"Come out here!" the dragon hollered as he got down on his knees to reach his arm in to hopefully grab the comparatively tiny cat. No answer returned.

Meanwhile within the cave of convenience, Gnarl had begun to worry before he spied the shaft of light indicating another entrance or, in his case, an exit. He didn't want to be trapped in here. There was nowhere to grow!

Out he went, scrambling up the slope and back out the other side. He didn't see Dragonien anywhere. Had he given the big guy the slip? Frustrated noises that carried from the other side of the hill would seem to suggest that he did.

In celebration of his totally clever escape, Gnarl decided to finish off the rest of the slushie. He let the last bit slide down the cup and plop into his mouth. It was sweet, like almost sickeningly sweet. All the syrup had collected at the bottom and the straw wasn't long enough to reach. He hated when that happen.

Except for maybe when the syrup was responsible for all this. Everything he felt earlier was coming back on him tenfold in the form of a titanic sugar rush. The empty cup fell and the cat rose higher, cresting over the treetops in mere seconds, quickly surpassing the dragon's last known size, until the branches of those same trees were tickling against his ankles. His tail snaked about, impossible to control, and brushed over the tops of them, snapping the tops as if they weren't even there.

Elsewhere, Dragonien was growing tired of the blind search that bore no fruit. Until now he had been hesitant to lean in and look inside in case Gnarl was waiting to poke his eye in time honored cartoon tradition but this was ridiculous. He was sure that he felt out the entire cave twice now and there was no sign of the little fellow.

"Looking for something?" he heard Gnarl's voice say, somewhere above him.

The dragon looked up and saw the no-so-little cat he had been chasing and had seen disappear into the hole. Now he was straddling the entire hill and Dragonien at its foot like Gulliver and the tiny military parade. And, much like the Lilliputians, he could really only see one thing placed in front of the cat's still-grinning face. He had plenty to grin about. Gnarl's dangling nethers hung in plain view and the dragon, even at full standing height, only came halfway to them.

The now apparently little dragon blinked a few times, trying to think of the right thing to say but all of nothing came to him. He could see the end of the cat's immense tail working its way through the treetops towards him and, much like a cobra striking, soon found himself wrapped up in it, lost in a world of fluffiness.

"How about we have some fun?" Gnarl said, lifting his catch into the air closer to him.
