One of the shortest and saddest stories I have wrote...I am very sorry.

Hey everyone, TCF here,

I'm sorry I haven't been writing at all. I have given up on it time and again and I am very sorry that I let you all down. I really wanted to try to write something and...this is what happened. I am sorry it is so short, I am sorry it is so bad. I wrote it in about 15 minutes and I haven't read over it or anything so, probably tons of mistakes and such. I really do apologize.

Feel free to comment if you wish, and I will try to do better next time. Thank you for your time everyone.

My Immortal

Jake stood solemnly, the slight rain pouring onto his fur, the otter not caring for a moment as he held a single white rose in his paw. His eyes stared, not at anything in particular, just blankly, steady. He tucked his black jacket closer to his frame as he coughed, looking.

"I remember..." he began to mumble, a gentle chuckle released into the air as he wiped his nose. "I remember when I first met you, it seems like so long ago but...it was a good day. I, was on my bike, riding around the neighbourhood, and I saw you, by yourself, at the park, but...you looked so sad." Jake's memory raced as he continued to talk to no one, still staring.

"I rode up to you, and even with my shyness, my fear to talk, I asked if you were okay. You told me you lost your doll, and had no idea where it was. We searched that park...heh, for hours. But we got lucky, I found it. You were so happy, and I loved seeing you that happy, even then. You gave me the tightest hug, and we giggled together. And, we hung out ever since."

The rain started to intensify, the droplets splashing against the ground, Jake still could not care. His fur soaked, his clothes damp, but he knew that he had to do this. He took a deep breath and pressed on, a slight shake in his voice.

"We went to the same high school, grew up so close, and...the day that we discovered what love really was. What feelings were. It was...amazing. I wanted to ask you out for so long, but I was too damn shy! Thank god you did. I said yes in a heartbeat, and we were together ever since, in a much different way than before."

Jake wiped his eyes, sniffling as he added to the ever growing perspiration with some of his own. His emotion's couldn't be held any longer, his head hanging as he continued to no audience in particular.

"I remember, when I got the nerve up to...to ask you to be with me forever. I saved up for months for that ring...but god it was worth it. To give to you. You meant the world to me, and still do. When you said yes, you looked so happy, and god, I felt as happy as you looked, even more! My life felt so complete. It was amazing. I couldn't stop kissing you after, and I never wanted to stop. It was beautiful..."

Full fledged sobbing filled the space around Jake, his tears raining down as he hung his head further, falling to his knees as he cried. He couldn't hold it back. Not anymore, not even for her.

"And then...that day. We woke up one day and...you didn't know who I was. You yelled, and screamed, and through the lamp at me...said I was crazy for calling you my wife. That you were going to call the cops...and you did. The ambulance that came with them they...they had a look at you, and before I knew it you had fainted."

Jake laid his paw on the stone slab in front of him. The wet granite having a cold feeling to it, a feeling that poured straight into his soul.

"You..you went to the hospital. I held your paw in your room the whole time. Then they...they walked in. And told me...they told me that you would never wake up. That they had to...pull the plug. I didn't want to leave. I never did Judy...please believe me. I tried...I tried so hard to save you. I did all I could. But...I couldn't save you sweetheart. I failed you, and...I pray you can forgive me."

Jake laid the flower gently onto the gravestone, the white accenting the black granite. Jake stood, his tears still flowing as he put his paws into his coat pocket. "I'm so sorry honey..." he whimpered, before walking away.
