Dilemma of Choice

Story by Terry Locke on SoFurry

, ,

This is just a little song I wrote the other day, I like to write poems and stories and such when I am feeling kinda lost. Every once in a while I keep something that I feel someone else may enjoy. I will try to be more active posting, but we'll see how this goes. Hoping tom write and post a short story here, get a feel for the kind of reception. Suggestions, comments, etc are welcome.

The Dilemma of Choice

I'm burning alive and looking on

But I'm cold inside, feeling not so strong

Confusion is a simple thing, to those who like to pull the strings

A dog of war and a broken man

Accredit cruel things to a wave of god's hand

Sadistic inclinations, preferences of a generation

In the distance something beautiful may lie

But it was long ago that I closed my eyes

Maybe something heavenly

Floats among the stars

But who's to say?

I was broken from the start

So pay me no mind and send me on my way

Looks like I'm filled with nothing but hate

Benevolence seemed so clean and pure

But my heart is constrained and I'm not so sure

Freedom appears so easy to some

Those who've been slaves, the poor and the dumb

The ones who fight, answer 'liberty's call'

I hope you win but you'll probably fall

Evil is an expression

And love is a dream

All I see is oppression

That's the way it seems

No one to look to so we speak for ourselves

We converse with each other and comfort the dead

Store our true thoughts on the shelves

The blood on my hands shines a crimson red

I only wish I was better

Gracious, kind, and forgiving, too

My life hangs by a tether

But I hold on for you

This world is consumed by hatred and strife

Think I might've lost the meaning of life

I clutch my chest as I lose my voice

Promises of salvation
