Chapter 7: Rough Week

My eyelids slowly opened and my back was stiff and one of my arms went numb. Kimahri laid right next to me sound asleep, purring. We were still naked, from the fucking session we did last night. I nudged the Ronso a little to try to get him up.

"Hey. Kimahri. Wake up." After a few more nudges, he stirred. His eyes finally opened and got up slowly, opening his mouth making a huge yawn, showing his amazing fangs.

"Morning." He said.

"We gotta get going." I suggested. He nodded and we gathered our clothes and put them back on. After everything is put back on, we pulled the box car's door open and looked at the moving horizon. We saw a town in the distance behind a line of trees that was to me looked like a good many miles in length. I looked at Kimahri and saw him put his hand on my back and said.

"Go." I hesitated because I never jumped off of anything while the spot I was on was moving and it was scary. I figured that he was nudging me because he wanted to help me on this. I got ready and made a jump for it with Kimahri's pushing me for support. It felt like I went very far and landed on part of a hill, stumbling and rolling on my side down to the bottom. Shortly after I went off, Kimahri followed by jumping off himself. Instead of rolling down the hill though, he actually slid down, going slower than I was when rolling down the hill. When I finally got to the bottom, the rolling stopped and it took about a minute to get up and regain my senses. Kimahri helped me up when he got there.

"Thanks." I told him. He didn't say anything else, and we walked into the forest without hesitation. It seemed really scary exploring dangerous places far away from home but thought it didn't matter since I'm under Kimahri's protection. He can pull a can of whoop ass on anything, and anybody we come across, so I have nothing to worry about. We walked across the horizontal line of trees which was really a mile less from what I thought. When we made it out, we saw in front of our eyes the town that was still many miles away in the distance. Where we were looked like a rusty old abandoned church, which was normally white on the outside was faded and discolored in rust and chipped off paint. There doesn't seem to be anyone inside, I thought, so I'm sure Kimahri won't mind being with me when we walk in. We got to the church and told Kimahri to stay behind but to hide from the windows. I then walked to thedoor and opening it was really heavy. Opening it only as far as being able to get in, I peeked inside. There was no one inside, and almost everything there was covered in a sheet of dust. The old hardwood floor looked like it could break at any minute and the boarded ceiling above looked like it was falling apart and there were rows of long chairs like you would see in any church. But it was grayed out with the dusty floor. The windows were shattered from corners and little bits but was bright enough to see everything in the church. I looked at it all for another minute and signaled Kimahri letting him know that the coast was clear.

We both went inside and took a good look around for a little bit. Seeing what was further on, like some old water that had might have been the churches holy water at the time. And that was pretty much it. I figured that it would be the perfect place to hide for a while and when things would finally settle down and we could go home. I wished it was the same for Ryan. I wish he's alright wherever he is? I asked. It's been almost a couple of weeks since you we're gone. When my worries are finished, Kimahri confirmed that this place was perfect for hiding.

"Stay here, Kimahri be back. In mean time, practice spells." I wasn't quite comfortable with this, I never wanted to be alone again.

"What are you going to do?" I asked.

"Kimahri check on things, then bring supplies of food and water for Eric." From this, Kimahri got his spear and his armlet and jumped to the ceiling, which wasn't much of a ceiling, and left the building. I spent the next two hours waiting for him with food, with nothing to do except practicing my magic, which wasn't much. I was only able to cast four spells before running out of energy so that was pretty much a waste. Luckily I wasn't too bored, and I still had the wooden sword hemadefor me so I got to practice with it for a little. It wasn't as adrenaline rushing as was with sparring with Kimahri, but it had to do. I hit a bunch of pillars and chairs and went all around in order for the experience to count. After forty minutes of this, I once again felt a little stronger. I could tell my powers we're growing and I felt excited that this is all a dream come true for me.

I felt completely exhausted and laid against one of the walls resting from that exercise and "playing". Only then was when Kimahri returned and I knew it was him when I heard him calling my name. I got up and looked up as he came back down with what looked like a couple of shopping bags. There's no way he could be shopping! I thought. Especially without being seen or suspected, and also the fact that he has no money.

"Kimahri returned."

"Where did you get that?" I asked. "And how?"

"Kimahri very stealthy and swift. No one suspect, in these has food and water."

"Did you have any money?" I asked and the Ronso shook his head. I felt a little nervous from the response.

"You stole these?!" I asked somewhat angrily "Why?" Kimahri then felt upset and shamed.

"Kimahri care for you Eric." He said shamefully. "Sorry if Eric don't like it." I didn't want him to feel bad so I had to say something quickly.

"NO, no, I don't mind. I'd actually liked how you got the stuff for me without being seen or traced. It's just that it was the wrong thing to do." He nodded.

"Kimahri understand, thank you."

"No, thank you." We smiled and hugged a little bit.

"Enjoy." I then took a quick look at the bag, and there was at least a week's worth of food in there, from several tasty snacks to cereal boxes, several different kinds oflunch meat, and about a dozen water bottles. I chuckled in my mind a little thinking, how could he take all of that without being seen? But it didn't matter, and before I started eating, the Ronso and I had a quick sparring session. Before he left, Kimahri took something from what I guessed was a pocket from his type of clothing.

"Here, take this." He then gave me a small blue glass bottle with clear blue liquid on it. I took a good look at the label and it said "Potion" on it.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Restores health." He said. "Use it when in danger."

The next week though was a horrible one though. Kimahri was gone most of the time to keep a look out, leaving me by myself. I keep using up most of my water when I only needed it for several occasions, so magic casting was even tougher on me than it would have. Repeatedly getting hungry and occasionally a stomach ache, and of the slow hours of each day, I got sick of ham. If I had to stomach another piece, I'm gonna throw up. It was like back home when the only cereal I ate was Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and was sick of it too. The solo sparring session I did with the church pillars was the only thing keeping me active and alive. Also, every night I began to miss my old bed, having to sleep on the hard floor with dirt and rats is not very pleasant. Thus, feeling sore at a couple places every morning. The next morning, I woke up with my neck and lower back sore and today is Sunday. I began to wonder how everyone was doing and how they we're faring without me. To them, it's probably like a repeat of what it was like when Ryan disapeared.

I got up and heard some kind of a whistle. I saw the door open, and I squinted as I looked at the light coming from outside. It was Kimahri again, and he had another grocery bag with him. I guessed he stole even more supplies. I smiled and saw him come up to me.

"Morning." I said getting up.

"Here, should last another week." Out of nowhere, I asked.

"Did you bring anymore ham?" I asked in somewhat sounded like a complaint.

"Nope." The Ronso then pulled out a prepared breakfast for me, and I got excited.

"Hey, bagels! Thanks Kimahri." I quickly ate my food and it soothed my stomach, more than I would ever for any cereal in the morning. When I finished, Kimahri told me something.

"Got something in face."

"Huh?" I asked, then the Ronso moved in and licked the side of my face. That was out of nowhere and I blushed a bit.

"Had butter there." I was really speechless, but none of the less, it was great, then I got up and kissed him on the cheek. He left after a half an hour of conversing what we we're doing throughout the week and then he vanished again. Leaving me alone once again, but with better food and more water. I just sat there on one of the benches completely bored and stared at the scenery in front of me, and didn't feel like doing any magic practice. It was a beautiful day outside, with the sweet smell of nature and the sky the clearest blue painted with clouds. I wanted to play outside, but I couldn't risk being tracked either. I wish I had either my Game Boy or DS with me, I thought. Then things won't be so boring. Later in the afternoon I woke up from a nap hearing a strange noise.

I just sat there confused and didn't know what it came from. Then the noise came again, and it sounded like a dangerous moan, and it came from the back door next to the podium in the church. I got up and grabbed my wooden sword with me. Then I quickly went to the door and opened it. I peeked inside and only saw a small cold and dark room with no lights and only one window at the left wall on the top. It looked really abandoned and old, even more so than the church itself. It figures that no one was in the church for years so I figured I had to check it out. I explored inside the room and couldn't see anything, so I tripped on a few things or two. I heard the same sound I heard earlier and looked at where the sounds were coming from. I saw nothing, but the sounds continued, this time in multiple directions. Before I could act, I saw something appear from the ground right next to me. Gasping at what I just saw, and ran away. Then another of the same thing appeared in front of me.

They were ghosts, GHOSTS. They looked like torn sheets of a blanket with a scary face, floating with some tangible gold orbs with the. How can there be ghosts? I thought, This can't be real, it just can't. I turned and ran away, but before I could get far, three more ghosts appeared and cut off my escape routes. Now I found myself standing there with five ghosts surrounding me and all I've got to protect myself was some magic and a wooden sword. This'll have to do, I thought.

"Hi ya!" I grabbed my weapon and struck at the creature, but. Crap, it didn't phase him. I thought, but I continued my assault and they're either dodging or the blows won't connect with them and just phase through the ghosts. Why isn't this working? I thought. This only left me vulnerable and got violently head butted a few times. I got up and casted.

"Fire." Then one of the ghosts exploded in a fire ball, but didn't die. Then two more ghosts came to assist it followed by another right behind me. Then a total of eight ghosts had surrounded me. This was ridiculous, some actual ghosts appear out of nowhere and their attacks actually harm me while mine are useless. Then, they prepared to attack again and I held my battle stance. My heart was beating faster and found myself finished.

Then I heard a voice.

...You're heart is strong...

"Huh?" I asked. Then once again, the ghosts prepared and got back to my battle stance shouting. "What am I supposed to do now?!" Then, something was happening to my wooden sword. What went on next was completely unreal. A light conjured up from my wooden sword and covered my weapon, then it changed shape. Then the light faded and in my hands now was a completely different weapon. It was a sword, but from it's front and hand guard looked like a giant key. It also came sported with a key chain hanging from the bottom of the hang guard. Then I felt it vibrate and pulled my arm until the tip of the blade was pointing at the ghost in front of me. "Wh-What is this thing?" I asked myself. "A key? Or is it a sword?" I shook out of it and started to attack the ghosts again. The weapon was a little heavier than the wooden sword, but luckily my newstrength gained from Kimahri's training has allowed use for me on this. This time, the ghosts have been damaged by it this time, and the first ghost vanished. It took a good three minutes to attack and destroy each ghost, only have been hit a few times, but not as much. Before the last ghost was able to hit me, I casted another spell.

"THUNDER!" Then a clash of a lightning bolt struck the last ghost and was no more. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that all of this is over. When I got up, I took a good look at the weapon this time. I was still a little shocked that it wasn't the wooden sword anymore, and it was all familiar to me.

"Is it?!" I asked, shock filled my expression.

...The Keyblade...

"Eric!" Came Kimahri's voice, and he showed up here shortly and hastened to me.

"Eric, you ok? Kimahri heard shouts, what happened?" I then explained to him about the ghosts and about what happened to my weapon, and showed him the Keyblade

"And that's how it happened." The Ronso nodded showing that he understands. He then took a look at the injuries I faced when the ghosts had attacked, and I took the potion out, but before I could drink it, Kimahri stopped me.

"No, save it. Eric need it for later. Kimahri sense Eric learned spell for it." I was a little confused about what he meant. I then thought that he said I learned a healing spell so I had to try this.

"HEAL!" I held out my hand and then a green aura surrounded me and did it's work. It then faded after a few seconds and took a look at myself. I was almost completely healed, and I was astonished by the results. "Wow, I did it." I was now prepared, since I now officially knew a healing spell. "Sweet." I proclaimed to myself. But after that frequent casting of magic, I noticed I was tired. I should probably watch myself, I thought, if I'm not careful, I could be killed. Kimahri meanwhile looked around and then explained.

"Must get move on. Not safe to stay anymore." I understood and we started to get a move on, but then I was surprised from what we just saw next. We saw small piles of gold coins on the ground, at the places where the ghosts used to be at before I killed them. I took a good look at this and asked.

"What are these?" Kimahri then took a good look at it.

"Kimahri don't know." Hmmmm, I thought, probably ought to have a bank check on this. We gathered all of the coins and put it in our pockets, walking up to the back door back to the outside of the church. I stretched when we got outside and figured that we had to move on someday. Then we took a good look at the church behind us once again for a while and then moved on to what lies ahead for the two of us. With a new spell and an actual Keyblade in my arsenal, I'm even more prepared, and stronger each day.

Sweet, this one didn't take me long, it was fresh on my mind and I had plenty of time during the week. Hope you enjoyed it, because there is more to come.
