_ Prologue _

"... And that is why humans aren't to be trusted."

"Right... Care to run that by me again, Tykiru?"

"Well, Dimelo..." Tykiru started, pausing for a moment. "Humans are self-centered, and they care about nothing more then themselves and what they can get. They only do things to get something out of it. Selfish is what they are..." Averting his gaze, his long jackal-like ears lowered. "They can't be trusted... They will take everything from you in the blink of an eye, and they have no morals! None at all!"

"Hmmm.... Sounds like someone I know..." Dimelo grinned at the thought, concentrating her attention on Tykiru's motives.

"Like who? Me? I am not selfish!"

"Ah, Tykiru... You are so ignorant that it is mildly amusing..."

"Whatever! Keep telling yourself that!" Slanting his bright, emerald green hues, he glared at the female in a light anger. His long, black, jackal-type ears lowered to the back as he growled at her, some of his thick, purple hair escaped its prison and found its way into his face. Ignoring the strands, he looked out the window, crossing his arms tightly across his chest. Even though his hair was pulled back, some of it seemed to find a way to get loose. Wearing only a full body kimono of a mixture of warm colors, he raised his left leg over his right one, allowing it to rest there as he sighed lightly. A seemingly fox-like tail came out of his cocoyx, and rested to his side, the tip thumping on the seat in annoyance. Both his ears and his tail were a light shade of black, yet they always seemed to highlight in a light blue, illuminating his soft fur. He wore no shoes, they were on the floor, next to where his feet had once been. Various markings crossed his body, though the most noticable ones were on his face. Three lines ran down his cheeks and onto his neck, almost like he had been clawed in the face. Moving his weight, he shifted his body to face the window as he watched the scenery pass by. "Don't count me in with those things..." A disgusted look crossed his sharp, aristocratic features, a shiver running down his spinal cord.

"Aww... Stop acting like a child, Tykiru! How old are you? Dammit. It's called 'sarcasm', ever hear of it?"

"Your older then me, so I am allowed to act how I want. As for my age, why the hell do you care? You knew me as a child, so do the math." Snorting lightly, his ear twitched as he listened to the female.

"Well..." The other started, thinking about how to respond to this. "Just knock it off, for Christ's sake." She spoke flatly, shaking her head from side to side. White hues held little emotion as she closed them for a moment, only to reopen them and watch the male carefully. Long fire-colored hair hung loose, red at the roots, then faded into orange and yellow, ending in a pure, dove white. A long, red kimono adorned her thin form, revealing every curve of her body until her lower torso, when it opened out. Matching silk shoes concealed her feet, unlike Tykiru's. Two demon wings were folded neatly on her back, the bone structure was black, as well as the long fingers. The skin that attached the fingers to each other was a deep, blood red. Emerging from her cocoyx was a thin, black tail tipped in an arrow head, out of her forehead was two black horns. Long, round ears were lowered, showing that she was half paying attention to all that was happening. Shrugging to herself, she looked out her own window, slightly pissed at the purple-haired male.

Once silence had gained control of the insides of the carrage, it stopped suddenly, the horses that were pulling at it started dragging their hooves though the desert sand. Cursing slightly, the male glared to the other, watching as she shrugged.

"Look, Tykiru, it's not my fault the stupid horses stopped. It's not like I told them to!"

"I wouldn't put it past you, but no matter. You will go out and see what is bothering them... Now! No questions asked! Because I am not asking you... I am telling you!"

Muttering things under her breath, the female stood up, glaring at the male before reaching the door of the carriage. Placing her slinder digits on the oddly fashioned knob, she turned it until a click rang into her ears. Reaching a leg out, she placed it carefully on the hot desert sand, raising her hues from the ground, she squinted her abnormally colored hues, trying to adjust to the sudden light change. Heat immediately invaded her form as she took in a few deep breaths of the dry, airy desert. Already she could smell a faint hint of blood and decay, but she knew the smell of decay was immerging from the horses. Slowly, her hues traveled to rest on the horses that dragged the carriage. Hairless except for their gray and red mane and tail, patches of their skin was missing, revealing their bones and decaying internal organs. Tykiru seemed to have a thing for decaying creatures, or so Dimelo thought. The horses muzzles were lined with razor sharp canines, that where able to rip right though flesh if the horse so desired. Their hooves where sharpened into a point, and spikes ran down along the backbone. They had no eyes, only a black hole in the skull where an eye once was, granted they ever had eyes. Every now and then, a small, red orb would move across the hole, that was how the horse could see. Skin hung off their bones as it decayed with their rotting flesh, though they didn't really have a horrid smell. Shivering slightly, the female made her way slowly over to the horses, placing a palm flat on the side of one of them. Immediately, as if pressing a button, her hand sunk unto the flesh until it began to rip from the creature's skin. Quickly pulling her hand away, she watched as the skin ripped and hung down, revealing more of the horse's insides. Soon, the horse would only be bones, but it would still be alive. Such was the magic of a demon horse.

Shaking her hand, a small piece of the horse's flesh came off of it, resting on the ground next to the demon horse. Turning then to face where the horses had been pawing at, she canted her head to the right. The sand seemed settled, nothing out of place, besides what the horses had decided to dig up. Trotting over to it slowly and carefully, she bent down, looking to the horses over her shoulder. "What's wrong now?" She questioned, as one of the horses bowed its head and then slammed its hoove on the sand they had been digging at.

Sighing deeply, the fire demon started digging in the sand that bothered the horses. After what seemed like forever to her, though it was actually only five minutes, she came across a piece of torn cloth. Reaching a hand forward to pull on it, her ear twitched as a tearing sound invaded her hearing. "Shit!" She swore lightly, moving her head to the side to look at the carrage. "Tykiru!" She called out, though the desert wasteland. "We have a problem!"

"God damn, what now?!" The male demon yelled as he stepped out, placing a hand on his forehead to shade his light green hues from the sun's harsh light. Whipping his head to the left quickly, he glared as the toxic desert air filled his lungs. A light cough emerged from him due to the dry air mixing with his wet insides. Slowly, he made his way over to the fire demon, gasping lightly at what she had uncovered. It was a demon child, no more then five it appeared to him. The child's hair was a mess, and it looked like it had been hacked off in a couple of places, all uneven lengths. The demon's hair consisted of three different colors: The roots were black, then they turned green in about the middle, then finished off by becoming teal. Red markings rested on the child's face, two lines under the demon's left eye, and a gash like marking across the right eye. The clothing that consealed the small form was torn immensely, but one could still tell that they were once a shirt and a pair of pants. Two canine-like ears were hidden within the mess of hair, but a tail of the seemingly same color stuck out. The tail was tri-colored: first black, then became blue near the end, then purple at the end of it. The child's skin was tan until it came to its elbows and knees, then it became furred and black, with with same colors as the tail. On the demon's chest was a small patch of fur, the same three colors. Two small wings emerged from the back: the fingers were an odd tint of gray, the skin connecting the fingers was mahogany. Along the arm of the wing, the same tri-colored fur covered it. Unfortunately, the child wasn't in good shape. Dried blood was crusted on a lot of its body, and patches of fur had been torn from its body. Obviously, this child had gotten into a lot of fights, and barely escaped with its life.

Tykiru observed the child carefully, then shook his head. He couldn't determine if the demon child was male or female, and that started to bother him. "Leave it alone Dimelo... Lets just go."

"Tykiru, we can't leave the kid here! He'll die!"

"Natural selection, only the fittest survive. There is obviously something wrong with the kid, if it was left here to die. I have no use for children in my keep, now lets go! I'm tired of being here!"

"He isn't an 'it'. He is a male..."

"How do you know?"

"I'm not stupid Tykiru, dispite what you think of my intelligence."

"Well then, leave 'him' here and lets go, I have things to do."

"No. I will not. Go on without me, I'm not going to leave him here... The kid has barely had a chance to live..."

"Fine! Fuck it! Take the mother fucking kid! I don't give a shit anymore! I'm sick of being here, and I am sick of you! God dammit!" With that, he stomped off into the carriage, sitting down on the bench and crossing his arms in fusturation. "Great... Just mother fucking great! Now my fucking maids are disobeying me! What's next?!"

The female shook her head, grabbing the child in her arms, then standing up slowly. "Tykiru is such a fucking jerk..." Holding on to the kid tightly, she stepped into the carrage and slammed the door behind her, sitting on the opposite bench of the male's. "Tykiru, Are you dense? He may only be a kid now, but he will grow up, remember that. For God's sake, you could make him a slave, or a maid, or whatever. But come on, there are always benefits!"

"And drawbacks... I will have to feed, care, and all that crap for him!"

"I'll care for him. I can do that. Geeze, do you have like, no faith in me or something?"

"Fine. I will allow him to live with me, but you must care for him, and he must do what I tell him to. If he does all that, then there will be no problems. But the less I see of him, the better off I will be..." Looking down, he cursed himself lightly. This kid may look pretty now, chances are he may not be such a looker when he gets older... The jackal hybrid thought as the horses began to move again.

The fire demon only glared at the other, but smiled oddly. "Arigato, Tykiru... Don't worry... I'll make sure he does everything you tell him to, and more maybe... Just no sex slave!"

"Excuse me?!" The hybrid spoke in a disgusted tone. "I doubt he'll be anything worth fucking when he gets older!"

"Yeah right..." The fire demon chuckled lightly, shaking her head as she held the child close to her, wondering if they could even save him, or if it would all be a hopeless cause.
