Downfall
#1 of Downfall
This is something I had written down in a notebook. I'll put the rest up soon.
A young, brave dark blue furred wolf stood before a group and began speaking "Alright friends, we are ready." Lucas Azurite was a paladin who was tasked with a suicide mission which had him venture into a seemingly abandoned fortress where there lies a horrendous demon, commonly referred to as "The Beast" by the villagers who had survived it's attacked, and he has to kill it
"We have trained for a long while for this moment," Lucas has spent many days assembling the team best suited for the mission which he had to reveal the hard fact to them "And even though we are all very skilled, I do not expect us to leave unscathed." He tried to hide the worried tone in his voice "A few of us might even get...killed by the beast but if so, do not worry your sacrifice was not for nothing."
"Alright then," The heavy set bear simply known as Henry stated " I'll be the one who delivers the idiot's death blow." The ax-wielding warrior laughed
"He has terrorized our kingdom and our allies long enough" The feline mage of Lucas's party, Elizabeth Terrus who was also Lucas's recently married sister, spoke up "It is time this threat is eliminated."
Beside her stood a calm lynx "As long as I get paid." The mercenary, Serah Michaelis, said in her quiet tone "I'm ready to head out when you guys are."
A slim coyote waved his hand trying to get their attention "Could we get this over with?" Grim Naught, the assassin, asked "I do have other things to do today." Unfortunately, Grim was already a wanted criminal and the only reason he tagged along with Lucas was that he was promised to have all his crimes dropped
"I'm with the assassin." The sharp-eyed raven archer, Lyall Veron pitched in "Let's get on with it."
A now confident Lucas grinned and said "Onward."
This was it. They had made their way to the center of the fortress where the beast had supposedly been hiding out at
"The beast should be here." Lucas told his teammates "Be careful and stay on guard at all times." As they explored the room they slowly let down their guard believing that the monster wasn't really there "Could it be possible that it's not here?" Just as they were about to leave, they heard a grumbling noise
"Another group of 'heroes' here again?" A deep, gritty voice said through the darkness "I suppose I am getting hungry."
The voice startled Lucas "Show yourself!" Lucas had his sword drawn, his comrades were also on guard "Come face us coward!"
"As you wish."
Coming out from the darkness, a very large grey colored dragon-like creature with solid red eyes and it looked down and observed Lucas and his allies "What..What are-" Elizabeth was cut short of finishing her sentence
"Henry wait!"
Henry, without thinking, charged at the dragon with his ax raised "Prepare to die bastard!" He shouted as loud as he could as the rest of his teammates cautiously stood back
The beast laughed "You cannot be serious." It quickly swiped the bear off the ground and held him tightly "I have to say, you are perhaps one of the most headstrong soldiers I have ever killed." Henry gulped "K-Killed?" He gasped as the beast flung him across the large courtyard
Nobody in Lucas's team had the nerve to look at him as all they heard was Henry screaming and the sickening 'crunch' as he his the ground
"He...He's dead." Elizabeth trembled and held her staff close
"His stupidity is what got him killed" Serah scoffed "We can't do anything about it now."
"Not so eager to attack me now, are you?" The beast chuckled "Now before you come at me again, why don't I show you my skills in dark magic?" The beast chanted a few words as a strange red aura surrounded him "It's a summoning chant I've been dying to try out for a while now." Quickly the beast stood on it's hind legs and went airbourne then hid in the darkness of the night sky "Have fun with your fallen pals."
"Where is he?" Lucas asked himself, trying to hide his fear
The ground trembled for a moment then stopped "W-What's going on?" Lyall shouted "Huh?" The avian heard a groaning sound. And another, and another until he realized what was happening "Oh no." A man wearing armour similar to Lucas's stumbled into his view but once the man noticed him, he charged Lyall and it wasn't until he dodged the man's attack that he saw the decayed state of his body "The beast summoned the undead!"
