#1 of Dragon's Pride

Okay, having a holiday gives me the time to upload another story series. Yay for me!

This story is personally one of the epic stories I enjoy writing as it explores the deep connections between the characters and their pasts.

Though the connection seem vague, this is the sequel to the three previous storylines.

Well, considering my writing skill, I can say most of you can't understand the rest of the stories. But feel free to comment on whatever thing in this story....

This is nothing but a prologue

The Fall of Dracokin

"Barricade the entrance, dragons! We can't let them in!"

"Those cursed antis got slayers! We won't be much of a help!"

The soldiers tried to hold of the attackers by trying to close the tunnel leading into the city. The roof had been closed, so the only way the attackers would be able to get in was the concentrated tunnel, barricaded by both the wall of magic and dragons. On the other side of the wall, humans wearing ebony armor wielding foul ebony tipped weapons charged through the tunnel, taking the attack on the pro-dragons trying to hold the tunnel from being breached. Magicians were positioned at the sides, enchanting repelling magic to make the barrier intact, even using draconic magic taught by their friends. The barriers were starting to be breached, and the magicians had no time.

"We can't hold them much longer!" exclaimed one of the magicians. "They use anti-draconic weapons!"

"Damn it. We can't go on like this! At this rate, we will be overwhelmed!" said the commander.

"Order, sir?"

He hesitated for a moment, before cursing himself and said, "All of you, listen up! I won't brief the condition right now since you all can see it for yourself, so I'll give one command for you all today. Make an evacuation while the dragons hold the tunnel."

The soldiers were surprised by the sudden turn of event. One of them said "Sir! If I may..."

"Make it fast, soldier, if you value the life of all of us."

"Where will we go?"

"Help those of the others. Some of you who are riders help the evacuation of the no-riders and go to any part where your help might be needed. For the children and the disabled go with any riders directing to a peaceful settlement. Other free dragons find any place that might need our help and stay out of direct trouble. Ramusk, I need to speak to you, quick!"

The hell wyvern-dragon knew the commander's command and followed suit. Ramusk tried not to outpace the commander because of his big body, and must try to move faster as he tried to use his front leg claws (which were modified to be wings) and dropped to four.

When they reached a dragon house, the commander said, "Ramusk, don't take anyone on you. Take some of the dragons and go to Korth kingdom."

"Korth kingdom?! Why, that's an anti-dragon settlement! Why are you planning to go there?"

"No, only some of the dragons here that is too young to carry anyone on their back," said the commander with stern face. "You'll take the kingdom with an army of rebels stationed inside the kingdom."

"Benneth...how about this city? What will become of it?"

"Dracokin is no longer able to sustain the attack from the anti-dragons," said the commander slowly. "This is not the place where able fighter dragons met. This place is to sustain your species not to extinct, Ramusk, so try not to make it extinct. Remember, Ramusk, if those dragon slayers can come together, while don't you all come together at them? Dracokin may have been done for, but we still have hope on other places. Please, Ramusk, will you do this? I'm not doing this as a human commander, but as a rider...and your friend."

Ramusk wanted to say anything to Benneth, but his rider put his pale hand on the dragon's snout, and he felt yet the warmth of a rider he had been with for many years. As Benneth's emotion was transferred via their link, he knew the human's fragile mind, knowing that he would die, and he was scared without Ramusk by his side. The hell dragon knew his rider would die, and thus he started to make a low growl of disapproval.

"I won't leave you, Benneth! This...this whole year we have been together...why do you intend to leave it all? Go with me, my friend. We'll settle Korth kingdom together!"

"I wish so, Ramusk, but your kind's safety is first. Go now, my old friend. May we meet again in another side of the world."

Then Benneth donned his helmet and he was off, leaving Ramusk alone. Knowing that the human was weak and would die, Ramusk had no other choice but to leave his rider to his own fate and go running out to find the others waiting for him.

"Yort, Guardiola, Shariot, each of you must go to all different kingdom of human of your knowledge. Some of the younglings will follow me to Korth kingdom and retake it as our lair."

The three senior dragons understood. When Guardiola and Shariot gathered some dragons, Yort said, "Is it okay if we disturb a calm settlement like Korth? Last I heard from Seraphor and Avila, the place is still a small kingdom with a yet..."

"Yort, our perception of time is different with the humans. It has been 44 years since they have gone with some of our Order. We won't know if they are still peaceful to dragons or not. The only way we can make sure is to pay them a visit. Got it?"

"But...I..."

"Yort, with your leadership over the humans you can help save many lives. Now go, Yort, before the tunnel is breached."

Ramusk didn't wait much longer and leave the earth dragon behind. He went to some of the young dragons that was in his Order and gave the command. Some hesitated, but others agreed when they knew the condition. It was when they all took flight they saw the humans had been breached and was fighting to their deaths with the remaining dragons. Ramusk didn't want to look back again. He knew Dracokin, the city of dragons he had made love on the place out from his habitat, had fallen.

He knew the dragons would surely be defeated without any proper preparation, and without a dragon reliable enough to turn the tide of the war, there would be no hope to end the fight forever.

"Seraphor...where the hell are you?" thought Ramusk while he flew away from the city of dragons, toward the land on the west.
