Dj heads over to the Windrail Forest to train Rion in battle.

The Windrail Forest has always been an active area with all the Pokemon that inhabitit it. Butterfrees, Pikachus, Dugtrios, even a rumor of a lugia but that was over 100 years ago. Rion was on my back as we walked on the designated pathway towards the middle of the forest. We stopped after we came across a big steel wall that was going to be a Pokemon Center for the forest.

"I think this is a good place to train." I said as I put Rion down and placed my backpack on the ground beside him.

"Well, how are we going to train?" Rion asked.

I took out a toy-figurine from the pack and placed it in a good 6 feet away from Rion. This figure was about a foot taller than Rion, but was a great training tool for him.

"We're going to have you attack this and see just what type of moves you have." I said as I flipped a small switch on the back of the figurine when Rion wasn't looking.

"What is that thing DJ?" Rion asked.

"To me, it used to be a toy I used to play with all the time. But to you, it is your training buddy." I said as I stepped from in between Rion and the figurine. "Alright Rion, let's try tackle!" I announced.

Rion ran towards the figurine and tackled the figurine to the ground with ease. However, the figurine's back gave out as it landed and all the parts just fell with it.

Rion seemed to have started to panic as he looked at the figurine and his breath quickened.

"I-I-I'm so sorry DJ, I didn't mean to break it." Rion said.

I think it was the fact that my fun plan worked sent me into a chuckle fit.

"Hahahaha. It's all right Rion, you didn't break it."I said as I picked up the figurine and flipped the switch again and the figurine stood back up on its own.

"Woah!" I heard someone say from a distance.

I looked over to my left and saw a kid who looked slightly older than me running down the pathway. He got closer and closer then he stopped right in front of Rion.

"A shiny Riolu! Man you are so lucky!" he said as I saw his eyes open as wide as baseballs by now.

"Shiny? What's a shiny?" I asked while giving him a questionable look.

Instead of giving me a direct answer, he pulled out a device that had pictures of a bunch of different Pokemon. One of the pictures was of a Riolu, but this one had a different color than Rion.

"A shiny Pokemon is a Pokemon that has different colors than an ordinary version of that pokemon." the boy said, "They are also incredibly rare."

I looked at the picture and then back at Rion. Besides the color difference, nothing was different. I guess that just makes him more special I guess.

"Say," said the boy, "why don't we have a Pokemon battle?"

"A battle?" I asked. We only just started training and now we were being challenged to a battle? I don't think we are ready. I was about to reject the offer when I felt Rion tug on my pants.

"I'm ready DJ." Rion said. Just by looking into his eyes, I could tell he was motivated for battle. I looked back at the kid and gave him my answer.

"Alright kid, we accept your challenge." I said

"My name isn't kid, it's Seth." he said.

"Well Seth," I said as I emphasized his name, "what Pokemon will you be using?"

He gave me a smirk then pulled a Pokeball out of his pocket and tossed it into the air. When it opened up, there was a red light connecting all the way to the ground. When the light went away, there was a small black and white bird Pokemon looking at us.

"This is my Pokemon, Swift the starly." Seth said.

Basic pokemon knowledge says that flying types beat fighting types. This is not going to be an easy battle.

"You sure you want to fight Rion?" I asked.

Rion walked forward till he was in front of me facing the starly, "I am ready!" he said.

Since he was determined to battle no matter what, I guess I had to support him. Just in case, I took the pokemon translator off of him. Then I backed away because the battle was about to begin.

Rion made the first move by running towards the starly and tried to tackle it but the starly just flew up in the air to avoid it.

Rion was very determined to tackle the starly because he chased after and continued to try another 4 times. The starly was very relaxed when flying to avoid Rion's tackles. That's when I realized that their strategy was to wear out Rion and then attack him when he is weak, Rion has to hit him very soon. I waved Rion over to me so I can tell him about my plan. I whispered the plan to Rion and at first he seemed confused, but then he understood and got into stance for a strong tackle.

Rion started to run to the starly and did so even faster than the other attempts. Just as he got close to the starly, it looked as if it was going to fly again. Instead of continuing, Rion jumped up into the air and did an aerial tackle. The starly couldn't react fast enough and was caught by the tackle and brought down to the ground. The impact of the tackle was just enough to knock all the energy out of the starly and caused it to faint.

"I did it, I...really....did..........it." Rion said as he fainted as well, guess the tackle took a lot of energy out of him too.

"Wow that was a really impressive battle DJ." Seth said as he went over to Swift and picked him up carefully.

"Yeah same with you Seth." I said as I did the same with Rion.

"Well I guess you win this battle, but I really hope we battle again." Seth said as he extended his hand, "Till then, I will see you later." I shook his hand and started to head back to my house, when I looked back I saw that Seth was going the other direction towards the next town over. I had Rion in my arms as we started going home and I couldn't help but notice that Rion, actually looked kind of....cute.

Is it wrong for me to feel like this?
