#1 of Hero Academy

This is my first attempt at writing a story and posting it somewhere. As you may notice pretty fast english is not my first language. Depending on the feedback i get on this there may be more as it is technically only the first chapter.

The story will follow Joshua Williams, a young foo-dog who lately found out he has a superpower. In a world where superheroes and villains are pretty normal he is accepted into the prestigious Hero Academy on recommendations of the mysterious Noxfire.

While this is pretty tame later chapters will probably warrant an adult rating.

Please leave a comment with constructive criticism after reading since i can't get better without it.

Star Haven, a city planned with every intricate detail in mind, built from scratch.

High skyscrapers that almost looked like polished silver from the distance were making up the center, home to

international companies, while the suburbs almost looked like cutouts from magazine covers.

But the heart of this city, the reason for it's existence was the Hero Academy.

The name wasn't the most imaginative, still, it brought the goal of this complex of buildings right to the point.

Superheroes, in all their different forms , with all their different powers were nothing unusual, yet without the right

education they could lose sight of the right path just as easily as everyone else and this school, founded by some

of the greatest heroes furkind new, was ment to keep them on the right path, shape them into good citizens and

responsible heroes themselves.

It was a tuesday, the sun bright, the air moved by a cool breeze, when Joshua Willams stood before the gates of the Hero Academy.

The red-fured foo-dog slowly took in the sights of the campus as he tried to adjust his ponytail, a vain effort to tame his platinum blond mane.

Youngsters like him could be seen, chatting as they tried to get to their next class, others relaxed on the patches of green that broke up

the monotone concrete.

He already was accepted as a new studend here, this would be his first day as soon as he spoke to the dean.

Still, this was much to take in, a few months ago he wouldn't even have dreamed of setting a single foot here, but then it had happened.

It, he still wasn't sure how to feel about...it. It was his superpower, as losely as you could call it that, he still didn't think it was anything to

write home about, let alone get him into this school.

After shaking his head he finally made his first step onto the campus, a duffel bag and a backpack holding most of his belongings.

At least he found the deans office pretty fast, as big as the main building was they had kept it easy to navigate and after a short talk with the

secretary he took a seat, waiting to be let in.

-You can do this, it's just a short talk with him-, he still was nervous, especially since he didn't know anything about his power, even now.

He had no idea how he'd gotten it, how it exactly worked and to top it off, it only had worked once so far.

As he heard someone clear his throat he looked up again, into the face of an older man. The buff rottweiler he was looking at was probably in

his mid thirties to early forties, about the age of his own father.

"Hi there", a broad smile on his muzzle he extended a hand to the foo-dog, slowly shaking it as Joshua returned the gesture.

"So you're our newest member here, hm?", friendly he pulled Joshua to his feet before pointing to the big wooden door behind him.

"Let's talk a bit in my office, afterwards i can show you your room."

Joshua still couldn't quite process the whole situation, he knew the canine, from fotos and newsstories at least.

Hammer, one of the founding members not only of this school but 'The League' as well, the superhero team that had so often saved the world.

He swore he could even see the rottweilers old costume under the white buisness shirt that looked a bit displaced on his massive body.

"Sit down, make yourself comfortable," said Hammer with a gesture to the chair opposing his desk.

-Thanks, sir,- maybe he was a bit to formal but he was a fan, had read almost everything about him, slowly he sat down, looking around.

The office was huge, just as the hero it belonged to, but it showed a desire to at least appear like a professional buisnessman.

High, wooden shelfs with books and small souvenirs in them, a lot of them probably from adventures in his more active time Joshua assumed.

-To be honest, i'm not that sure if i belong here Mr. Hammer-, was the first thing Joshua said after a few moments of silence in which the rottweiler

had opened a folder, reading it's contents.

"Well, Noxfire said that he saw huge potential in you and i'm inclined to believe him when it comes to things like this, you're not the first student he,"

Hammer paused for a second, searching the right word as it seemed. "He scouted," the rottweiler closed his previous thought.

After a few more seconds in which none of them said a word Hammer smiled again. "Mind showing me what you can do?"

-I, uhm, i can try, sure,- trying was really the best he could do, sure, after getting the letter that promised him an education here as well as training for

his power he had practised lot, trying to get a better grasp of it but he still feeled nervous.

Still, he slowly stood up, took a deep breath before facing the canine behind his desk, concentrating, trying to take hold of it.

Hammer watched the young man with curiousity as he stood there, breathing slowly, his eyes open but fixed on an imaginary point behind the dean.

Something was definitely happening, but he wasn't sure what, he never understood magical powers and from what Noxfire had been saying the foo-dog

had a faint connection to some sort of arcane plane in the broad multiverse.

As Hammer kept watching the chubby foo-dog he finaly noticed something, Joshuas eyes had started glowing, faintly only but it was there.

The rottweiler felt something as his gaze, unknown to him, was drawn to those eyes time and time again, it felt nice watching them glow, pulse, in a slow but

steady rhythm, as if he had seen something like it somewhere before.

After a minute Joshua was down, he felt exhausted, but at the same time good and smiled a bit as Hammer shook his head.

He looked impressed, even though Joshua still didn't feel as if his power was something to brag about, all he did was summon a clone or double.

Sure, it did what he wanted it to do but it wasn't stronger or faster, just a simple doppelganger.

"Nice, i don't think i could tell a difference between the two of you."

-Well...that's good and all but...that's all i can do and i feel like i've run a marathon already,- and he wasn't lying, Joshua panted and his paws were slightly shaking.

"Nonsense," replied the older man, smiling as he finally had shaken off the slight dizzyness he had been feeling while watching Joshua summon his power.

"You just need some proper training and i'm sure you can do a lot more with this."

-You really think so..? Thanks,- came his shy response, he still wasn't sure about all this but maybe he coud do more with this power.

"Come, i'll show you your room now, you'll get comfortable there and afterwards we finish the final papers for your official enrolment."

With that the rottweiler gave Joshua a friendly pat on the shoulder.

The foo-dog didn't feel it, as his double started to vanish into thin air his mind slipped away, he fainted. Every little thing that had happened so far may had been

okay on it's own, a new city, new school, meeting a famous hero even showing off his superpower may had been okay on a normal day.

But today everything had come at once and something inside him simply had snapped...
