Chapter 1 (The forgotten Fae)

The sunlight tickles the nose of an unusual fae, and she stirs in her light sleep. She walks sleepily out into the crisp winter morning air. "Looks like it snowed last night, and heavy too." She sighs and trots silently underthe heavy spruce branches that are weighed down with snow. Shes like a beacon standing in the snow, black pelt and all, but the weird thing is the blue markings she holds. Jet black with the brightest blue eyes a wolf could possess. She was declared a mal cahd at birth, a cursed one. Shes not just a regular one though, she was a elemental. Her father would be killed and her mother given to a new mate. The mal cahd was meant to die, but if they servived they could try to prove themselves and come back as the lowest ranking wolf in the pack, and possibly work their way up in the chain. She had no tolerance for the way of those types, and hoped she found a pack less strict.

She trotted a bit quicker catching the scent of her prey, a sick male elk. She crouched as she crept up over the hill, and looked down into the ravine. Just as she had thought, the male was making his way down to the watering hole. He had a limp, but that meant nothing. These elk were big, and not to mention, very strong even when injured. One swipe of a hoof or horn, and that would be the end of that wolf. She went around to the dip in the ravine and silently made her way down to the base, crouching behind a boulder. She waited quietly as she heard the uneven footfalls of the elk coming nearer, and nearer. She tensed, muscles coiled, and her haunches twitched with the anticipation. Just as she was about to take of and attack the elk, the howl of a screeleen sliced through the air. She growled a curse under her breath and took off after the panicked elk. What on earth was the pack doing this far to the north? It didn't matter, she needed this elk to sustain her. A few quick bounds and she was upon the elk, snapping and nipping at the terrified animals heels. The elk stumbled and fell, and the fae was upon the animals throat in no time, sinking her teeth into the life giving artery. The animal finally gave a death struggle and gave up. She looked up at hearing the howl grow closer. Oh no, they were after the elk as well. She thought, and then started dragging it to where she thought it would be safe. She ate quickly so she could soon leave before.....SNAP! She turned to be faced with a white wolf, snarling at that. As soon as the screeleen and the male grunt that was with her saw her markings, they were quickly upon her. The male pinned her down, while the white fae looked deep into her eyes. "I am Calia, I am the screeleen of Blue Lake Pack. You have been found, and will return to prove yourself." She looked back intently. "What will I be proving?" She smirked. "If your worthy enough to live." She chuckled and nodded to the male.
