#2 of A Tale of Lost Souls

Part to of my mini series. Sorry it came out a bit late. Got caught up writing part three and forgot to upload it. Hehe. ^^; Hope you enjoy!

Almost an hour later our young colt finds himself at the rusted, iron gate of Flowers Manor. Another shiver runs down the poor pony's spine as he pushes against the decayed gate, wincing at the high pitched squeal of the rusted metal. The colt's ears fold back as he steps up to the seeming giant doors of the large house biting down on the rusted bronze door knobs and tilting his head as he tries to open it. After several seconds off rattling, pushing and tugging on the old knobs he falls back, panting slightly from exhaustion. "The he-" Our young colt pauses as he sees a slight lump in the shredded doormat. He lifts up the mat curiously as he pokes his head under, finding a rusted key. The colt blinks as he stares at the key, groaning as he falls onto his back. "Oh you got to be fu-"

Several minutes later, the young pony has all the deadbolts, chains and pad locks unlocked and pulled off and is standing in front of the door, trying to clear his head. "Come on man...you can do this! They're just stupid stories to keep dumb colts like me out...right?" In all honestly, the colt was scared, no, terrified! He'd heard horrible stories from the various homes and orphanages he stayed at over the years but he'd always shrugged them not. Now he was standing there! At the supposed haunted house! "Ugh!" He slams his hoof against the door in front of him, jumping yelping as he tumbles into the abandoned building groaning as he rubs his neck. "Ugh...just my luck!" He struggles back onto his hooves and looks around, shivering a bit as a cold breeze blows past him. "Wh-why is it so cold in here?" He questions to himself as he pulls out a flashlight and takes the handle in his mouth, using his tongue to switch on the light. He looks around, ears folded back as he takes in the eerie look of the decayed walls and ruined decor of the once beautiful house. The colt jumps a bit as a rat run between his legs towards the door, stopping to glare at him before disappearing. He grumbles around the flashlight as he makes his way down the hall into a large living area with most of the adjoining rooms either boarded up or collapsed "'tupid 'at!" He looks around as he tries to find a light switch or a window, yelping as he trips over a table and tumbles over onto his belly, the flashlight skidding across the floor, switching off in the process. The young colt yelps as he scrambles over to where he thinks the flashlight is, feeling around for the plastic light source. He sighs in relief as he feels the familiar cylindrical shape under his hoof and shakes it a bit between his force hooves, wincing slightly as he temporarily blinded by the bright light. He blinks curiously as he looks up at a large shadowy figure in front of him. "Wh-what the..." The colt whimpers as he points the light at the figure, gasping as he sees a mass of black fur.

"BEAR!" He throws the flashlight at the bear and runs off, yelping and cursing as he runs into something, which wraps its arm around him shortly after, taking notice of an odd feeling between his hind legs. "AH! HELP!" He jumps and squirms as whatever grabbed him falls forward as well. After several seconds of squirming and screaming, the colt finally frees himself, now surrounded in moonlight. He starts to run until he notices the bear is still there, literally! It hasn't moved! He nervously walks over to the large animal and pokes it, blinking at the cold feeling of the animal's fur. "I-it's stuffed!?" He goes to kick in until he his nose picks up on a certain smell he hasn't smelled in years. "O-oh g-god...
