The Other Side
Korvan sat on the edge of the road, it was 2am in the morning. He yawned in boredom, his stupid parents had kicked him out of the house for the night due to a stupid fight. Behind him was a forest, he could hear the wind blowing the leaves like an orchestra behind him. Korvan stretched and looked around. This was his favorite time of day, the time of day when no one was around. Not even a singe car in sight for hours on end. He stood up and looked up at the stars twinkling above him thousands of miles away from him. Korvan sighed and walked into the forest behind him and began to wander through it. he had no clue he was being followed by something that would change his life for the rest of his exsistance. A twig snapped behind him and the grown human male froze in his tracks. Korvan's hearing heightened in his altered state, he could hear at least three living things moving around him. Stalking him, What should I do? He though to himself in a panic. If they where stalking him like this it meant one thing, he was food. Sadly Korvan was far wrong, it was more sinister. If you would consider what was going to happen to be a cure or a gift. Unsure and panicked he dashed forwards and the creatures gave chase, one howled in delight. He reached a large clearing in the trees, a valley. The trees and grass around him seems to be laughing at him as he ran with all his might. Korvan was a track runner at school but running in fear was on a whole different level then running to beat some asshole. Suddenly he tripped over a branch hidden in the darkness, it was over. The creatures where on him within a matter of seconds. To Korvan's surprise he saw something far from ordinary. A fox, a bob cat and wolf stalking up on him. They where all about 20% bigger then the normal size of their breeds."What a surprise." the bob cat mocked laughing "We found an excellent runner, rare for how lazy humans are now a days.""Lucky." Said the wolf."Oh shut up and get him before he gets away." Growled the fox. Korvan's eyes where widened in terror, talking animals who where smart. He was frozen in fear as the three animals surrounded him. He tried to scream but nothing came out of his mouth. All three of the beasts jumped at him at once. The fox digging it's teeth into his left forearm, the bob cat deep into his right leg while the wolf stalked around seeming to enjoy the show. Then it lunged at Korvan and bit deep into his right shoulder. All the pain caused Korvan to scream in pain, the bob cat pushed his arm into his mouth to muffle the cries of pain. Then it all suddenly when black.Korvan awoke abruptly jolting upright in his place. Looking around he noticed he was no longer in the valley but in a cave. The bob cat, wolf and fox where sitting around him in a big circle. Still panicked Korvan looked at him arm, his arm had already completely healed and was like nothing had ever happened."Strange most people start screaming by now." Said the
fox with a snear."We found a strange one." Said the bob cat."Silence! You must have questions" The wolf charmed in. Confused and with a throbbing headache Korvan leaned his head against his hand."Yes, What the FUCK did you do to me!" Korvan shouted, the bobcat's ears went back in reaction. The fox rolled it's eyes and the wolf stepped forwards."Sorry for the rough introduction but we where desperate. We needed a new pack member, we are at war and dying off." The wolf said sitting down just a couple feet from Korvan's location."War? Pack? What are you talking about." Korvan said punching the ground with his other hand, pain had began to spread through his entire body slowly."We where once human like you. Obviously we are no longer human due to the same thing you experienced earlier. We are what you would call were beasts?""You've got to be shitting me. That shit is supposed to be a fairy tail." Korvan groaned out in annoyance."All fairy tails have some truth to them." The fox chimed in giggling.Korvan groaned and flopped back down onto his back as the pain grew and became more intense. He twinged and groaned out in pain. Why me? Is this just a dream? No it can't be, the pain is too real. It feels like a dream though, were beasts. A war He paused in thought Wait they haven't explained what this war is yet."Wait, what is this war. Also whats going to happen to me?"The bobcat moved a paw for the wolf to move aside. The wolf stood up and moved back to his spot. They are obviously stopping me from leaving, but why? For my own safety or otherwise? Korvan though as the bobcat sat down in front of him."You will change into an animal that is the closest to how you act, who you are. What you have done in life with also factor into it, but here is the fun part. There is no going back, you will never be human again." Said the bobcat in all seriousness."I don't care, I hate human society anyways." The bobcat nodded and moved back to it's spot in the circle and the fox approached."The war is a very strange one, there are demons that are coming through realm rifts. Humans cannot see them, only we can. If left unattended they will take over the planet and cause massive damage. Dying animals, trees, excessive mold and rot. The world as we know it will crumble." The fox said as her ears went back.Korvan laughed "So I'm going to be some form of were beast that kills demons! That's hilarious" He continued to laugh and the fox growled "Not in that sort of way, it's hilarious awesome. Since the day I was born I didn't want anything to do with humans. I hated their attitudes, their... well everything. I don't have any friends and my parents hate me.""Then you where lucky to be picked." The wolf chimed in."More like fated." The bobcat growled ears folding back.Suddenly Korvan screamed and his body arched, it felt like his insides where being
sliced apart from the inside out."Shit! It's started!" screamed the fox "Get the medicine now!" The bobcat dashed into another part of the cave and came back with a cup in jaw."Open your mouth, now. This will ease your pain." Said the bobcat lowering her mouth with the jaw towards his. Korvan opened his mouth and the liquid pored in, it tasted like ass."Swallow!" shouted the bobcat throwing the cup aside and bopping him on the forehead with her paw. Korvan swallowed and everything once again went black.Korvan stood in a small clearing of trees, everything had a strange tint of darkness too it. He heard the sounds of battle coming from the distance. Korvan ran, but not because he wanted to. His legs where moving on his own, the sounds got closer till he came to the origin of the sounds. What he saw in front of him struck deep fear into his entire soul. A huge red and black demon covered in horns with multiple eyes on each side of it's head. It's jaw was huge and filled with giant sharp teeth that could probably bite an entire building in half. It had four arms with eight legs. The head was somewhat like a dragons with huge nostrils. Korvan stared in dread. I-is this what they ment by demon Korvan though as his entire soul shook in fear. Suddenly the eyes shifted and looked straight at Korvan, the demon grinned a horrible sinister grin."Try." It said in a deep multi-voice and then started laughing hysterically.Korvan's eyes snapped open and he screamed. The fox was sitting in front of him, she leaned her head down and tilted it to the side."Ah, a demon dream. That's normal for your turning sleep.""Turning?" Korvan asked noticing all the pain in his body was gone, and there was sunlight leaking into the cave."Yes, you came out unique. A serval, we will not know your powers till we start training you though." The fox smiled, it took Korvan's mind a few minutes to realize he was no longer in a human body. Looking down he saw his shriveled clothing around his new body. The fox stood up and started to help Korvan wiggle out of his old clothing. He clumsily stood on his new all four legs. His body was yellow-orange with a white underbelly, it was covered in black spots and some stripes."Play with your new body, get used to it. You'll have it from now on." She smiled, her green emerald eyes sparkled as he looked into them. Her coat was a beautiful white all over, Korvan looked over her body and felt a throb down below. Knowing what was going on he shook head head fast and blushed through his fur."Oh and you mindset will become more animal." She smiles and walked into the deeper section of the cave. Still blushing Korvan testing out his new ears. He perked them up, folded them back and twitched them. They where huge, larger then most cats. He twitches and moved his tail around, he felt the offset of balance as he did so. Wow these things help you balance more then I had imagined. He took a
step forward slowly, then another and another."Good your learning." Said a male voice behind him. Korvan turned slowly to see the wolf standing there with a smile on his face. "Kara said you had a demon dream?" He said laying down in his spot. "Please Inform me of what you saw, it tells us what we are up against." Korvan nodded and explained the huge demon he had seen in his dream. "My name is Ralf." Said the wolf giving a nod "I'd go out and get used to your legs." Ralf said heading to the back of the cave. "Don't get lost."Korvan looked out towards the opening of the cave and began to clumsily walk towards the exit. He looked around, the clearing he was "mauled in" was in front of him.
