Scanning the Wrong Card

I wrote up this tale to accompany this picture: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8915267/

This story is centered around transformation - something I don't often write about. Specifically a Digimon transformation...yet another subject I don't write about a lot, or even know that well. ;3 I did a LOT of research before penning this little story, and I think it paid off pretty well! It was fun to do something different, and being something different, I thought I would submit it here~

Charem is a rather typical, if fatty Charmeleon. But when he finds himself a D-Power model Digivice just discarded on the ground, things begin to change quite wildly for him...!

Digivices are rather powerful devices. Normally only possessed by the DigiDestined, their primary use is to empower the DigiDestined's partner Digimon through Digivolution and other enhancements. The D-Power model in particular has a card-reader that can be used to scan cards from the Digimon card game and give the Digimon extra attacks or effects.

Takato Matsuki owned such a D-Power, red and white in color, which brought life to his partner Guilmon by scanning mere pieces of paper describing the red Digimon. This D-Power was later overloaded and destroyed when Guilmon digivolved to Megidramon; fortunately, Takato later received a gold D-Power in its place.

But was that original D-Power really destroyed for good? The Digimon world can work in mysterious ways sometimes...

In another universe entirely one day, Charem the Charmeleon was out for a peaceful walk when he chanced upon an unusual object in the grass. It looked electronic, similar to an Xtransceiver, though much blockier and older. Plus, he'd never seen an Xtransceiver in a red and white color combination before... Scooping the device up in his paw, the lizard fiddled with the buttons, seeing if the screen would show any signs of life. 'DISCONNECTED' dispassionately blinked on the screen, proving it wasn't broken, and seemed to have battery life, but the contraption wouldn't display anything else.

Growing more curious by the second, the fire Pokemon looked it over more carefully, and noticed that the large groove on one side of the machine actually housed some sort of scanning unit inside it. Given the size and shape, the Charmeleon quickly deduced it was for scanning cards... But what kind of cards was it meant for? Perhaps... Pokemon cards? Charem had a few back at his den, including a few of his own species. He recalled that there were scan codes along the sides of these cards, meant to be used in some sort of 'e-Reader'. Maybe this device was an e-Reader, and a quick scan of a card might 'reconnect' it?

A good plan in mind, the Charmeleon excitedly padded back to his home and dug out his little box of trinkets. Fishing around for a bit in the rather-random box, he soon found his little pack of trading cards, and slipped out his favorite Charmeleon card, showing a rather jovial-looking Char stomp-stomping around. Maybe this card would do?

Quickly did Charem swipe the right side of his card through the machine, triggering a promising 'Beep!' from the device... Then...

...

...nothing...?

The Charmeleon looked at the screen again. Nope...the device still read 'DISCONNECTED'. It must've not been made for a Pokemon card after all... What an utter bust. Sighing, the lizard set card and machine onto the ground, getting up and turning towards the entrance of his den. Dinnertime was fast approaching anyways, and the Charmeleon still needed to catch something to eat...

"E-errgk!"

The reptile collapsed to his hands and knees after not taking a single step, his legs buckling unexpectedly. His whole body had just been washed over by a strange numbness...?

"Be-beep-be-be-BEEEEEP!"

Charem looked back at the machine, whose screen seemed to be flashing a red color now. "What the...?" Wincing at the tingling numbness as he moved, the Charmeleon slowly pivoted his body around to face the electronic, seeing that it now was volleying out some flashing text...

'ERROR: CARD NOT RECOGNIZED.'

'UTILIZING BACKUP DATA.'

Those two lines were all it would display now, one after another, a low, almost grinding beep sounding out as it did. It sounded like it was loading, or...

"W-wha?!"

It slowly started to occur to the Charmeleon that his cave had grown a fair bit brighter than before - and not just because of the device's flashing screen. A white glow seemed to have developed...from his own body now! Charem's eyes grew wide as he saw that blocky, glowing rings of white were appearing over different parts of his body: the base of his tail, the ends of his right paw and left foot, the side of his neck. The tingling sensation was growing quite intense over these strange rings, which looked almost...digital?

The machine's screen suddenly calmed itself, turning a solid green.

'APPLYING BACKUP DATA.'

Charem could only gasp as the glowing spots began to move...up his limbs, down his tail, across his chest and face... Though all he could really feel was that intense tingling, what he saw made him wince in response: his hide was changing colors from orange and cream to red and white, and his form shifting shape wherever the rings passed over!

The Charmeleon watched in what couldn't decide was fear or confusion as his left paw and right foot grew long, thick claws, both limbs entirely losing their digits in the process. His feet in particular contorted and shifted in shape, the rings soon forcing the foot to have a two-clawed, raptor-like build... As they moved higher, the rings on those limbs turned his scales red, and formed strange black symbols atop his foot and paw.

His tail suffered a similar fate as the ring sticking to it glided towards the tip, spreading red scales and a black band near the tailbase. The firelizard whimpered as his tailflame began to sputter out and shrink away, before disappearing entirely as the ring slid over the tip... The changing Charmeleon noted with at least a small sigh of relief that it appeared to cause no ill effects to his health to lose the flame...the contorting and growth of his body notwithstanding!

Perhaps most dramatic were the results of the ring that had begun on his neck, which had simply CHARGED down his chest, eagerly turning his appealingly-creamy front to a stark white color, and forming a massive black symbol over his chest. This ring in particular also moved up as well as down, causing the Charmeleon's shape-shifted right paw to touch his face nervously as the ring climbed over it. His snout and jaws were growing wider, and the back of his head was sprouting frills and fins in the oddest of places! The not-so-Pokemon's head horn was also affected, slowly shrinking away into nothing as the digital ring replaced it with its own choices of head-decor. Charem had to shut his eyes as the rings glowed right next to and then over them, his vision quite blurry for a time after he nervously reopened them again... It was obvious that even his eyes had changed!

"N-rrno...not tharrr toorrr..." the transforming reptile growled out, still not quite used to using his shifted snout and suddenly-thicker tongue. as he watched what seemed to be the 'main' ring descend down his belly and towards his more-sensitive regions, while the other rings began to travel down his remaining unchanged limbs. Hard as he tried to resist, the tinglings had forced out his ruby-red shaft, with his plump, creamy orbs dangling below them, both private parts still entirely untouched...

Until now!

The changing Charmeleon both panted and whimpered as this main ring glided - a bit slower - over his meat, climbing up the erect shaft and causing it to grow and shift, turning a darker red... A knot ballooned out at the base of the cock, with a slight ribbing protruding atop of it. The sensation was utterly inexplicable, but left the lizard groaning in embarrassed delight, a bead of cum emitting from his cock head just before that, too, was transformed into a sleek new shape... The main ring, nearly having completed its objective, had already morphed one of the Char-balls into a bigger, redder new orb, and it wasted no time in repeating the process for the reptile's other sphere - much to the sensitive delight of the scaly!

"Ooorrrgh..." the once-Charmeleon collapsed tiredly to the ground after this change had finished, his limbs having fully shifted as well during the events at his groin. Catching his breath and panting his thickened tongue out from his maw, Charem carefully righted himself again, awkwardly standing on all four his new hands and feet as he grew accustomed to them. Something on the ground below caught his eye as he balanced: his collar, one band of it broken, laid under him. The growth of his body, including his neck, must have snapped the collar clean off. Charem gave his collar tag a closer inspection - noticing quickly that its trademark 'C' had been replaced by the same symbol on his paw: a large triangle pointing up, with two smaller triangle above it pointing down. And, in the center of that largest triangle was...a new letter. A 'G'...

"G...?" the previously-Pokemon pondered, glancing back and over his new, redder form intently...as words from thin air formed in his mind. "G...Guil...mon...?"

Charem the Guilmon gulped, standing slowly to two feet. He was a 'Guilmon' now?... What would he do at this point? What could he do?

'Be-beeeep.'

The Guilmon sighed, bending down to scoop that troublesome device into his claws, staring at the screen with an irritated expression.

'BACKUP DATA SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED.'

Charem rolled his eyes. prompting the screen to put out a new message.

'GUILMON IS HUNGRY. PLEASE CONSIDER FEEDING YOUR DIGIMON SOON.'

'Grrrrrroooowwwwlll!' went the Digimon's stomach as if on cue, causing the Guilmon to wince. "Ugh...fine... First order of business is to get something to eat..." Charem groaned, licking a bit of hunger-induced drool from his lips as he trotted out of his cave, quite ready to go on a hunt.

"Strange..." he mused to himself, sniffing the air and waving his tail as he stalked off. "I have the largest craving for a fat loaf of bread right now..."
