"(Yawn) that had to be the best night's sleep I've had in years." Glaive yawned as he woke from his slumber. Whilst in bed he stretched his limbs as his joints popped and cracked, he slid out of and onto his four hooves and made his way to living room to inspect the files and try put together a portfolio of the of the monsters.

Lance was already at the table staring at the files, wishing they would give him an answer. "Hey, you're up early." He said with clear disinterest to Glaive without looking up from the files.

"How long have you been up?" Glaive asked his tired looking friend.

"I've been up all night thinking about what he meant by 'merging`. I've already sent a report of our findings to the Captain, so don't worry about that."

At that moment something clicked within Glaive, the merging, the angel. She, or at least he thought it was a she based on its voice, had said that it had defeated monsters like that before. Could that really be it?

"Lance," He didn't look up. "It's just that when that strange liquid-like creature chased after something weird happened, and I think it relates to the merging." Lance was now interested in what he had to say. "Well, when I was trapped under those rocks a blue mist came to me and gave me the strength to get out of there and help you."

"Are you completely sure you don't need a visit to the hospital, because I'm pretty sure I was the one who saved you." Lance looked at glaive sceptically.

"O.K. how do you thing I got free from those rocks and still had the energy to carry you from where you passed out to Zecora's?" Glaive retaliated.

Lance opened his mouth to talk but nothing came out, he hadn't thought of that. Suddenly his eyes lit up. "Have you never heard of adrenaline? It can cause mares to lift carriages off of their foals."

"Alright fine, I guess you're right. Heck even I had a hard time believing it, and it was my own theory. Oh, but I have got something that you wouldn't have put in your report. The brown one talks to, not as well-spoken as the other one, but it say something strange. It said that it was once like me and that he trusted 'it`, which I can only presume is the other monster as that is what he was going on about before."

"That is interesting, but once again we run into the same problem as before. We don't know what it's talking about." Lance gave an exasperated sigh.

"Well, no but we still have a better chance of finding that than something as vague as 'merger`, all we have to do is narrow it down and we have it."

"O.K. so, err..." Both looked at Glaive and around the room trying to think of something when Lance's eye caught something. "Pony!" this time Glaive is the one who gave the strange look. "Just look at the files, four victims but only three corpses. It may not be that we can't find it but maybe there isn't a fourth one and it's something else entirely."

"If that's the case we had better get down to the morgue" Glaive suggested.
