Chapter 2- The Johto Fight Festival Pt. 2

Here's Chapter 2 for you. Read on!

***POV: ?, 1st***

"Well, he seems to have potential." I said, turning to my colleague.

"Yes, but we should wait until the Tournament's end to make a move. We don't want to make any mistakes." He explained, staring at Christopher as he recalled the Dratini.

"I agree. We cannot afford to be rash, after all. He is an amateur Trainer, just recently obtaining his License." I nodded, also looking at him.

"If he does manage to win, then we'll move. If not, we will have to go with the winner." My colleague smiled as he glanced at his phone. "I have to take this. It's from her." He got up, and stalked out of the room.

'Is he the Trainer? Or are we making the wrong decision? If only he was here...' I sighed, and leaned back on the wall.

***POV:** Christopher, 3 *rd* *****

Chris entered the room with the other fifteen winners, and looked around. The nerd he had sat next to earlier came up to him.

"So, it looks like you and your Pokémon made it." He noted.

"Yeah. I seem to have been lucky enough to receive a Pokémon I'm familiar with. We sure showed that Magmar!" He pumped his fist into the air.

"We're going to keep winning our battles. Maybe you can too, and then we'll face off today or tomorrow. I'll see you around." He headed to the other side of the room, leaving Chris to his thoughts. A few moments later, a female with pink hair, and wearing a nurse's uniform entered the room. She whistled to gain all sixteen Trainers' attention.

"Hello Trainers. I'm Nurse Joy, and I'm here to make sure your rental Pokémon is ready for the next round. If you would please line up and, one at a time, hand you Pokéball to Chansey here, this will take almost no time at all." At the mention of her name, a Chansey appeared next to Nurse Joy. The sixteen Trainers lined up in front of the Nurse and Chansey, and she squeaked her name as she took the first ball in her paws. It glowed for a few seconds, then the light died down as she gave the ball back to the Trainer. The process repeated for all of them until all of them were sitting where they were prior. Nurse Joy thanked all of them for their patience, bowed a bit, and left the room, with Chansey in tow. A few minutes later, the sixty-inch TVs in the room turned on simultaneously, played a few musical notes, and an announcer appeared on the screen.

"Attention ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please direct your gaze towards the displays to see the next matchups." The screen then showed sixteen empty slots. "Round One was a bit short, but the Second will be a little longer since all Trainers will receive another partner in addition to their first. Without further ado, here are the matchups for Round Two." One by one, the empty slots filled with a picture of the Trainer who would participate then. Somehow, Chris found himself to be last again, pitted against a burly-looking man.

The rest of the day passed, with Chris not paying any attention to anything except the Pokéball in his left hand. He didn't look at anyone even as they came by him, as he wondered what Pokémon he could get for the Second Round. Soon, only his opponent and himself were left, yet he didn't notice until his name was called.

"Christopher, stop staring into the air! You're up, dude!" It was his friend, Jake, who stood by the door, leaning on the frame as he tossed a Pokéball up into the air, then caught it.

"Huh?" He got up and stretched. "Oh, Jake? Damn, the match!"Chris bolted for the door, grabbed the ball from the air, and clipped it to his belt as he continued to the arena. He slowed once the entrance came within his view. As he looked around, the crowd once again cheered at him, and he saw the sky was beautiful: orange-red, with a couple of clouds here and there.

"Here we are, at the last bout of the day, and Christopher has finally entered!" He stood on his side while the referee explained the rules again.

"Now, begin!"

"Go!" Chris threw his Pokéball, and a tiny bird was revealed to the world. It was brown and white, with black spots over its eyes. The opposing Trainer tossed his ball, revealing a blue seahorse Pokémon.

"Horsea, use Water Pulse!" He commanded. The Water-type loosed a ball of H2O that collided with the Pidgey on Chris's side of the field.

"Use Wing Attack!" Chris pointed his finger at the Horsea, which the Normal/Flying-type was now charging towards with outstretched wings. The attack landed, pushing it backwards a few feet. "Do it again!"

"Not so fast! Use Hydro Pump!" The seahorse's always open mouth shot a torrent of the liquid at the Pidgey.

"Quick Attack!" His Pokémon barely managed to avoid the column, but still got nicked on one of it's wings, causing the poor bird to crash into the dirt. "Quick Attack once more!" With difficulty, it stood, and tackled the Water-type.

"Use Tackle!" Both Trainers shouted simultaneously, and the tired Pokémon rushed forward for one more hit. The two then collapsed onto the ground at the same moment.

"Pidgey and Horsea are unable to battle! The scores remain at zero each!" The Referee declared, holding up his arms. "Send out your final Pokémon at this time!" He requested, as the Trainers had recalled their defeated partner back.

"Go, Dratini!"

"I choose Machop!" A light blue humanoid Pokémon with red eyes appeared in front of the other Trainer. It flexed it's muscles as it glared at Chris's Dratini. "Karate Chop!"

"Counter with Iron Tail!" Chris called while the Fighting-type was closing in on the serpent. The Dragon-type hardened it's tail, and, just before the Machop hit home, swung it. The moves clashed, and neither 'Mon let up, but the Fighting-type had more strength (obviously), making the Dratini pull back for it's own safety. "Use Incinerate!" The serpent let loose a small pillar of flames at the Machop, who was attempting the Chop again, and engulfed it in the fire. The move was powerful enough to stop it in it's tracks, where it then proceeded to retreat.

"Try a Cross Chop!" The enemy Trainer shouted, albeit he was sounding less confident. His Pokémon even looked skeptical, and was hesitant to rush forward, fearing another ranged attack.

"Dratini, wrap this up with a Water Pulse!" Chris ordered. The Dragon obeyed, forming the sphere of water in it's mouth, and launching it at the foe. It was blasted back to the Trainer's feet, knocked out.

"Machop is unable to battle. Dratini wins, and the match goes to Christopher Leon!" The Ref. announced, as the Trainer walked up to his Pokémon, and patted it on the head.

"We really have a knack for winning, huh?" Chris chuckled when the Pokémon pushed into his hand, making him rub it's head more. "I can't wait to see what's in store for us tomorrow!" He said, pumping his fist into the air.

***POV: Christopher, 1** st *******

"Why not?" She was complaining again.

"Hmm, let's see, maybe because I don't feel like it?" I retorted calmly.

"Stop fighting, you two. I don't want to have to come over there and treat you like seven year-olds." My mom told us sternly from the kitchen. I leaned back on the couch, listening to a live performance (using our Netflix account on my PS3) of Metallica's Black Album. As the last few chords were played on 'The Unforgiven', I closed my eyes to think.

'Wow, I must really be good at battling to be in the top eight. Now that I think about it, what would I do with the money if I happened to win? I guess I could go visit my Uncle in Hoenn, or travel to Unova, or something. Yeah, visiting my Uncle sounds good. Plus, I'll be able to see all of my mom's other Pokémon.' Yes, it's true: my mom used to be a Pokémon Trainer. She had stopped traveling after she met my father, and they had decided to settle down in New Bark Town. My dad then went on his own journey, as they had been running out of money, and took a job as one of the Area Bosses in Mt. Battle in the Orre Region, which isn't that far from the Hoenn Region. Yeah, my dad's a top Trainer. He could probably match the power of one of the Elite Four on Indigo Plateau.

Okay, I got a little sidetracked there.

"Dinner's ready." My mom stated, breaking my train of thought, which I later cried over (just kidding). While we ate, my sister gave me the evil eye (she actually does it quite well), though I ignored it. I knew it would eventually get worse if my mom didn't intervene: my sister can hold a grudge for months.

Once I finished, I took a quick shower (remember: I still had to get to Jake's house), and bolted out of the door, with my electric guitar on my back. I was a bit late, but Jake expected it, and was actually waiting in front of his house when I got there.

"A bit late, you are. Let's see, it's only been... fifteen minutes." He mocked, glancing at his watch.

"Shut up! Are we going to game, or talk about my minor short-term memory-loss?"I punched his shoulder, but not hard.

"Haha, okay sorry." He opened the door, and we entered. I was led to his room, where I gasped, despite seeing it many times. There was a massive entertainment center on the far side of the room, complete with an HDTV, PS3, Wii U, and X-Box 360. Now, I don't prefer X-Box, but I was jealous that he had a Wii U. His 3DS was sitting on the charging cradle on a nightstand to the left of his king-sized bed. He had a modest dresser to the right of the bed, and a closet to the left of the entertainment center, which faced his bed and the door. On the thing itself, there were PS3, 360, Wii and Wii U games lined up on shelves above and below the TV. 3DS and DS game cases were also lined up, but only on the bottom. He had a bass guitar leaning on the nightstand next to his bed.

"Ready?" I asked him.

"Let's go."

Throughout the night, we shuffled through a few of his games after starting with Rock Band 3, where we played some Foster the People, Green Day, Bullet for My Valentine, and Maroon 5 songs. It went something like this: RB3, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Re:MIX, and some Battlefield 4.

When we finally stopped gaming, it was already two in the morning, and we had started at nine! Securing my glove, I grabbed my guitar, and headed home. Upon seeing the lights off in the house, I climbed to the second floor from the outside, and slipped in through my window (I keep it unlocked for these occasions). Once I hit my mattress, I allowed sleep to take hold of my body, and fell into darkness.

I woke to the sound of an alarm at eight in the morning. I shut it off, and was about to get up when I felt something wet on my neck. I opened my eyes to see red irises.

"Mm, hey Moonshine." I petted the Absol on the head as she rolled off of me.

"Absol." She said. Oh, I forgot to say this earlier, but my mom kept her Absol from her journey. Mom let her stay because she could sense if a disaster was going to happen, making her priceless to our family. More often then not, I found myself to be taking care of her, so there was no surprise when the Pokémon immediately warmed up to me. She likes to stay by my side when I'm at home, even sleeping in my bed wether I'm here or not. My mom actually said that she might give her to me since I mostly take care of her, but I'm not sure if she was joking about it.

Anyways, I got up and did my morning routine, which included a shower (Moonshine wanted to follow me, but I pushed her out), and putting on my regular clothes. I dashed downstairs, with Moonshine in tow, and proceeded to make a light breakfast, since I had to be at Marill Stadium by ten. I gave Moonshine some eggs and myself some eggs with a pancake. As soon as I finished eating, I said bye to Moonshine, and made my way back to the Stadium.

I stood on my side of the field, idly tossing a Pokéball in my right hand, with my left in a pocket. A few seconds later, a female Trainer glided over to her side, holding a ball in front of her. She wore a white and red hat, a red shirt, and blue overalls that seemed a bit short. Her shoes were red, and her white socks traveled above her knees.

"Hey Chris! It's been a while!" She yelled over the crowd.

"Huh? Wait, Lyra!?" I stared at her, mouth agape. She giggled at my expression.

"Yes, I can't believe you almost forgot about me! Looks like I'll have to defeat you in battle for that!" She stuck her tongue out at Me.

"What!? N-no way! I'm here to win! I'll take you down if I have to!" I held my ball at the ready. Lyra started to pout.

"Aww, you're no fun. I'll forgive you, though, since we're such good friends!" At this point, the Referee had to clear his throat to make us stop.

"Now, the battle between Christopher and Lyra may begin!"

"Go, Rattata!"

"I choose Pichu!" On her side, a purple and white rat materialized. My Pokémon was small as well, with yellow and black fur. Its ears were pointed with black tips, a black tail, and black collar, while the rest of its body was yellow with the exception of the 'Mon's cheeks, which were red pouches that store electricity. The crowd went wild upon seeing the pre-evolution to a fan favorite. "Ladies first."

"I see you still have manners." Lyra giggled. "Rattata, use Leer!" The purple rat glared at the mouse, making it flinch.

"Still on the defensive moves, as usual." I smiled. "Pichu, Tackle!" It charged towards the rat, landing a direct hit that sent it rolling backwards. "Now, Thunder Wave!"

"Quick Attack!" Lyra commanded. Before Pichu could react, Rattata had already moved, slamming into the mouse's side. "Got you!" She stuck her tongue out again. She stared at me in shock when I smirked. "What?"

"ThunderShock, that's what." She held a puzzled expression as my words registered in her mind, then realized too late that I had called out an attack.

"Rattata is unable to battle!" Lyra pouted as she recalled the fainted Pokémon.

"No fair!" She held another ball in her left hand while I grabbed one of my own.

"Actually, it was very fair. Go, Pidgey!"

"Spearow!" Lyra's Pokémon appears somewhat like a Pidgey, except it's eyes are sinister-looking, and it also has dark plumage in addition to the shades of brown. My Pokémon seemed intimidated by it. "Use Quick Attack!"

"Aerial Ace, fast!" The two Pokémon moved, with the Spearow narrowly missing Pidgey, who was now descending towards it. The Pidgey made contact, then cried out, and backed off. "What the- wait, that was a Peck attack!"

"Ha, gotcha! Sand Attack!" Just as I was about to call out a command, Spearow threw sand in the other Flying-Type's face, successfully blinding it. "Tackle!" Pidgey tried to open it's eyes, but was hit before it could, and fainted on the spot.

"Pidgey is unable to battle!" I sighed as I recalled it, and fingered another ball on his belt.

"See? I can beat you."

"No, that was one out of three. Your turn, Dratini!" The blue serpent slithered in place, and let out a battle cry.

"Oh look! It's sooo cute!" She was about to run over and tackle the 'Mon herself, but I stopped her.

"Stop! This is a real battle! Just send out your next Pokémon, and refrain from hugging."

"Aww, party pooper. I choose Flabébé!"

'Oh shit!' I cursed mentally as the Pokémon formed, sitting on top of a yellow flower.

"Now we see a Pokémon from the Kalos region for the third time! Well folks, can Chris pull himself out of this one seeing that the Fairy-Type is super-effective against the Dragon-Type?"

The Pokémon was literally a fraction of the size of the serpent, but everyone was staring at me, awaiting my move.

'I need to make a move, but which one?' I stared at the Fairy.

"Hey Chris, do you want me to go first? Or are you scared of the Fairy?" Once she said, "scared," I burst into laughter. "Hey, what's funny? Are you trying to laugh it off?"

"No, I think it's funny that you think I'm scared. I can't be scared by a mere Fairy-Type, and even if Dratini is, we'll both pull through it and win! Dratini, use Water Pulse!" It fired a ball of water at the Pokémon on the flower, drenching it.

"Hmm, not scared huh? Use Fairy Wind!" The Flabébé loosed a pink-tinted gust towards the Dragon, who flinched and cried out in pain. "Now, use Moonblast!"

"Iron Tail!" I cried out without thinking, and realized that was a smart move. Dratini jumped over the ball of light, and slammed it's tail into the Fairy's head. I didn't know that Steel-Type moves were super-effective on Fairy-Types until I saw it knock out the Flabébé, and the Dragon slither back to me, looking pleased with itself.

"Flabébé is unable to battle! The third round goes to Christopher Leon!"

"What? How?" Lyra put the Pokémon back in it's ball, and knelt on the the ground. "I thought I could finally win against you, but I see that was just a dream." I helped her to her feet, and placed my hand on hers.

"It's not your fault, I'm just better." I smirked.

"Gee, thanks." She pulled her hands away, and looked at the ground. "Well, I lost. So now, if you don't win, I'll have to beat you up, got that?"

"Haha, sure."

"Okay, then win it all. I'll be watching." Then, surprising everyone, including me, she kissed my cheek, and ran off. I rubbed my face, realizing that I was blushing, and shook my head.

"Well, there goes the Festival."

***POV: Christopher, 3** rd *******

At about five in the afternoon, Chris was called up to his fourth match. Walking up onstage, he remembered earlier, and gripped the ball in his hand tighter.

'Let's hope we win.' He thought. The Trainer stepped up to his side of the field, and looked over his opponent. He looked like a "biker" as they had labeled themselves, wearing a leather jacket, torn up jeans, worn boots, driving gloves, sunglasses, and a bandanna.

"Now, with both Jeff and Chris here, let the final match of Round Four start!" The Referee held both of his hands up.

"Go, Shroomish!"

"Hoothoot!" On Chris's side, a short creature with a scrunched up face appeared. It has green spots all over it's tan, mushroom-like body, no arms, and short, green legs. The other Pokémon is an owl, with large, red eyes. It's body is round, and it looks like it only has one leg, but it really has two; it constantly hops from one leg to the other, keeping one concealed within it's plumage. "Use Tackle!"

"You use Tackle as well!" Both rushed forward at each other, and crashed, with the force knocking both backward. "Stun Spore." Chris ordered, and his Pokémon complied, immediately flipping over to launch yellow spores at the Normal/Flying-Type. The biker cried out a warning, but the Hoothoot was having a hard time getting up, due to it's stubby arms. By the time it managed to stand, it had already inhaled some of the spores, and it started to move slower.

"Peck attack!" The dual type Pokémon lurched at Shroomish, to Chris's surprise. Since Flying-Type attacks are super-effective against Grass-Types, Chris anticipated his Pokémon hitting the dirt.

"Shroomish is unable to battle!" Chris recalled the Pokémon, and held another ball at the ready.

"Pichu, let's rock!" The small electric mouse materialized once again on the field, stoked for another battle. Jeff threw out a small, blue Pokémon with a zigzag tail connecting a blue ball about the same size as it's main body. "Okay, ThunderShock!"

"Use Water Gun!" Pichu was able to easily sidestep the water, meaning it had a clear shot at the target. The Tiny Mouse let loose an arc of electricity at the Azurill, making it cry out in pain as it connected. Though Azurill are not Water-Type Pokémon (they are, in fact, now deemed part Fairy), the Electric-Type attack still damaged it significantly. "Try a Slam!" It bounced up, and rushed to Pichu, aiming with it's tail.

"Pichu, Quick Attack!" Chris called. Pichu obliged, cartwheeling to the right, and, with the Azurill still in mid-air, smacked into the side of it's body. It rolled on the ground until it was at the Referee's feet, unconscious.

"Azurill cannot continue!"

"Good job, Pichu. Return now." Chris picked the third ball on his belt, and tossed it up. "Pidgey, up front!" His Tiny Pidgeon chirped as it ascended, then descended on the battlefield, just as Jeff summoned a Zubat.

A Zubat has a blue body, with no feet, large ears, a gaping mouth, and leg-like appendages.

"Use Leer!" As soon as he said it, Chris felt like an idiot, and face-palmed. "Damn, Zubat don't have eyes. I completely forgot." He groaned while Jeff laughed.

"Well, seems like you forgot the basics. Okay, use Wing Attack!" The Poison/Flying-Type swooped (heh, swooped) in, bashing the Pidgey's left wing, and sending it to the ground. Chris gritted his teeth, thinking about the next attack.

"Use Quick Attack!" Pidgey started to get up, but apparently the Wing Attack did more damage than both thought, and it cried out in pain before it could move.

"Another Wing Attack!" The bat came in once more, narrowly missing when the bird rolled to the right.

"Quick Attack!" This time, it got up and slammed it's good wing into the bat.

"Supersonic!" Zubat emitted high pitched sonic waves from it's mouth at the Normal/Flying-Type. Chris watched helplessly as Pidgey got hit point-blank with the Supersonic, having a 100% chance of confusion on the defending Pokémon. Pidgey looked around, disoriented and confused, trying to find the enemy.

'Dammit, he really knows what he's doing. I can't give an order without the risk of Pidgey hurting itself!'

"Now, finish this with another Wing Attack!" Chris looked away as the finishing blow was dealt, and awaited the Referee's word.

"Pidgey is unable to battle!" Chris picked Dratini's ball from his belt after returning the fainted bird.

"Okay, we have to win this one, Dratini!"

"Geodude, let's wrap this up!" As Chris's Dragon slithered forward, a rock with a face, and strong-looking arms formed, shifting back and forth as both awaited their commands.

A/N: Ah, over 4000 words. All of these fight scenes are tiring me out...

Hey, if you want, please check my profile. If you have a PS3 (kingdom_9063), friend request me. If you have a Google Plus (Isaac Velez, with the Snivy evolution line as a Profile Picture), follow me. If you have a 3DS, PM me for the Friend Code (though it may take a bit for me to get my 3DS from a friend, whom I lent the device to). Yes, I have Pokémon Y, but I'm more interested in Friend Safari's than battling or trading. I have all the starter PKMN from every region, so if you want, I can give out eggs to those who need them. Well, await the next chapter! Until next time, everyone.

Kingdom, Isaac, and Chris, signing off.
