Bronwyn

The Lure of Spring

-o-O-o-

Bronwyn loved the spring. The weather was warmer, the sun rose higher, and the delicious sweet smell of sprouting grass filled the air leaving the harsh days of winter little more than a readily forgotten memory. And then there were all the spring flowers too, vibrant and cheery. How she relished it. It was like a delicious meal being prepared, a honeyed tart cooling on a windowsill taking its time to cool to perfection...

Now she was really hungry.

The cowgirl shook all thoughts of food from her mind as she entered the warehouse. The staff reception was unusually quiet for that time of morning, only the one security guard sat watching the monitors, though he offered Bronwyn a respectful nod. She was much more accustomed to at least one or two more members of staff loitering about the place, or at the very least one of her fellow section managers roaming away from their department.

With a dismissive shrug Bronwyn pressed on further into the building, making a beeline straight towards her office, cutting directly through the open expanse of the warehouse. To her utter surprise the place was barely even a quarter full with stock, and the usual din from fork lifts, pallet trucks and roll cages had been replaced with something much more akin to silence.

Well, not quite silence.

Over near the walls along the collection of office fronts, where the staff notice boards were hung, congregated what appeared to be a good few dozen workers.

That fact alone piqued her interest. When she saw Arthur emerge from the crowd, though, her frown of thought was replaced by a warm, earnest smile.

"Wyn, you hear the news?" Arthur asked as soon as he was close enough.

"What news?" She tilted her head as her eyebrow raised. It must've been good news, given the broad smile that parted his lips. He was excited, that much was obvious.

"We're all on paid leave!" Arthur seemed to almost explode into life, doing all but jump up and down on the spot.

Bronwyn was somewhat taken aback by it.

"Great. I could use a holiday..." she replied doubtfully, wondering if it was the beginning of some kind of elaborate joke or prank. Why would the company just randomly give everybody paid leave?

Arthur quickly picked up on her dubious tone, "I'm serious." He pointed towards the boards, "Go check it out if you don't believe me."

Bronwyn looked back to the gathered crowd of assorted co-workers who currently surrounded the in-house noticeboards. Obviously something important was going on if it had managed to draw so any of them over. But paid leave for everybody? That made no sense, and she was having trouble justifying it. How could the warehouse function with no staff? With a nonchalant shrug she headed over to check it out for herself, making her way unassumingly through the crowd.

Arthur chuckled as he watched her being engulfed and surrounded. Being a fair bit shorter than all of the humans present she quickly vanished entirely from his sight. He figured that he'd best follow her into the fray, though the people seemed to move far less readily for him than they had for the cowgirl...

Maybe it was his distinct lack of horns?

Bronwyn, surrounded, soon found herself in front of a large poster pinned rather prominently to the noticeboard. It seemed to be the item that had drawn the rest of the staff's attention, and the none-too-hushed conversation that was going on around her only emphasised the fact.

So, she took a moment to read it.

Attention all staff, an authoritative voice declared within her mind as she read on, due to scheduled essential building maintenance the distribution centre will be closed...

As she perused through the remainder of the poster's text she quickly came to realise that Arthur had been telling the truth. Not that she thought he'd deliberately mislead her - well, not over something as simple as this, anyway - but outlandish claims did require evidence, even from somebody she trusted implicitly.

She continued to read down the remainder of the poster.

Department-specific details to follow.

Bronwyn felt an arm slip casually around her waist, her ears flitting up and down as she took note of the footsteps sounding up beside her. From the gentle touch of the arm to the instantly recognisable tone of the footfalls she knew that it was Arthur taking his place beside her. She knew it without even having to turn and look. He was the only one daring enough actually behave in such a familiar manner around her - the only one in the warehouse that knew her well enough to even attempt it. It wasn't really improper or against company guidelines, but it was an intimate, familiar enough gesture to push the bounds of professionalism into something a bit more personal.

"The gist of it is we get a good two week break!" Arthur enthused just above a whisper into her ear, close enough that his lips tickled the fur and made it flutter reflexively, catching him lightly on the nose.

Bronwyn smirked, but largely ignored the sensation and found herself thinking of the stacks of paperwork in her filing cabinets and strewn across her desk, and how willingly she'd like to cast it all to Hades and leave it to fester for a while.

"I know a good seaside retreat." Arthur whispered in soft undertones into her ear as if he'd plucked the very thought from her mind.

"Oh?" she turned to face him, brow above one of her eyes piqued as if to question his intent.

"You're welcome to join me..." he winked suggestively.

Bronwyn could barely suppress an amused giggle, "Sure, I'd be up for that..."

-o-O-o-

A cerulean sky stretched overhead touching each horizon, unbroken by so much as a single stray wisp of cloud. The sun had risen high enough to made the air comfortably warm, though the late spring breeze tempered things a bit and kept the heat from rising too high too quickly, leaving things feeling fresh.

Bronwyn had her window wound all the way down as she took in the view. The deep turquoise sea had been visible in the distance from the moment the car had crested the hills around that particular stretch of coastline and had remained in sight even as they'd entered the small seaside resort town, the unmistakable smell of saltwater and sand hanging in the air to bid all visitors welcome.

When Arthur and Bronwyn finally arrived at their destination, Arthur's car fully laden and riding low with a fortnight's worth of luggage piled high within, Bronwyn noted that they'd parked in front of what appeared to be little more than a standard pebble-dashed semidetached house.

"Are you sure this is it?" the cowgirl asked as she climbed carefully out of the car. When Arthur had told her that they were heading to a holiday flat she'd been expecting something completely different, more akin to a small apartment block or perhaps a condominium.

"Yup. I've been here before. We have the entire lower floor to ourselves."

Bronwyn chewed on her lip and nodded slowly. She'd just have to trust his judgement. The pair gathered their luggage and headed inside.

-o-O-o-

Bronwyn groaned heavily through gritted teeth. Unpacking their luggage had all gone horribly, horribly wrong and now the bovine belle found herself stretched out across one of the holiday apartment's beds, laid on her side with her back arched and her arms above her head clasping at the aluminium bars of the headboard, the usually pristine smooth white fabric of her dress ruffled and bunched carelessly and forgotten around her midriff. Her underwear, a vague and distant memory by that point, had been promptly banished from her person by the eager young Arthur, who now suckled at her breast whilst his fingers spurred on the eager dampness between her thighs and stoked the very heat within her core up to a veritable inferno.

She tried to recall how it had all started, to draw upon whatever memory her distracted mind chose to make available and rationalise the current situation, but in all honesty her thoughts were elsewhere. Bronwyn felt Arthur shift his weight on the bed beside her but she wasn't looking, view obscured by her own arm across her face.

He'd managed to bring her so far so quickly, coiling an intense spring within every muscle and sinew in her body, entwining a willed tension so deep it permeated her very being. One stray flick of his fingers or errant flick of his tongue and she would snap.

And then he kissed her.

Bronwyn mooed low and long into the kiss. Arthur's fingers provided the final torment.

Release wracked through the cowgirl's body in a crescendo of pure bliss, practically every muscle in her body opting to spasm all at once.

The cacophony of sensations clouded all of Bronwyn's senses and in that brief, fleeting instance she couldn't even bring herself to draw breath.

When their lips parted Arthur noticed that Bronwyn's eyes were still tightly closed, and he felt the rise and fall of her chest between them as she finally began to catch her breath. When she slowly opened her eyes, beautiful cupreous orbs filled with wonder and question greeted him with a grateful yet inquisitive gleam.

"Where did that come from?" she breathed airily, not quite fully back with the present.

"I couldn't resist." Arthur offered her a cheeky smirk laced with lascivious intent, "Fancy going out for dinner?"

"Aren't you full already after that?" She teased, reaching up with one of her hands to caress her bosom gently, erect nipples still damp from their treatment by his tongue.

"I must admit, it quenched a certain thirst..." he licked his lips playfully, earning a gentle swat of feigned outrage from the bistre bovine, "But you still need feeding."

Bronwyn chuckled as she moved over and sat upright at the edge of the bed, legs dangling off the side, "Alright."

"Great. I know just the place!"

-o-O-o-

The evening turned out to be an absolute delight. A pleasant meal in a decent family restaurant - Anthromorph friendly, of course, though they did get one or two unusual looks from some of the more elderly patrons - and a couple of bottles of wine between them had left them both with their hunger sated and feeling suitably relaxed. Although after the long trip getting there neither of them could boast the stamina to make a late night of it. So they'd returned to the flat before the evening twilight had fully faded into night, the pair giddy but exhausted, and simply sat down on the sofa for a warm drink and a chat before bed.

Bronwyn had dozed off within five minutes of sitting down, Arthur's shoulder currently serving as a surprisingly comfortable improvised pillow.

He didn't have the heart to wake her.

She looked so peaceful lying there against him, eyes closed and breathing softly, and he wondered precisely what he'd done to deserve the company of such a woman. Maybe he'd been a saint in a past life? Or maybe it was just pure luck-of-the-draw style cosmic chance or coincidence opting to play in his favour? She was beautiful, there was no denying that; you'd have to be blind to miss it. Even in her sleep, her little bovine nose crinkled and twitching as she snuffled and breathed in deep, sedate breaths, she was irrefutably cute.

And even if she was a different species to him - hell they weren't even the same order as one-another - Arthur just couldn't help but find her captivating.

Bronwyn gave off a gentle, barely audible moo and resettled herself against his arm, wrapping her hands around it and leaning all the more into him. Arthur simply smiled. Without thinking he leaned forwards and placed a gentle kiss atop her head, inhaling the surprisingly aromatic scent of late summer wildflowers from the silvery fronds of her platinum hair. It stirred to the fore of his mind images of a wide grassy meadow filled with buttercups and primroses, and he couldn't help but imagine the bistre bovine belle alone in such a scene, bare feet stepping daintily through the sweet green turf, fingers dancing through the swaying long grass as it danced in time with the pleated skirt of her dress, keeping rhythm as the gentle summer breeze caressed them with its warm and gentle touch.

It took him a moment to realise he'd closed his eyes. When he opened them again he looked down at Bronwyn's dozing form, and it was like a new light shone upon her, stirring within him a profound realisation.

He was in love.

-o-O-o-

When the sun rose the next morning it brought with it the promise of a gloriously bright, warm day. And as any seaside-goer will tell you there is only one appropriate reaction to a potential day of clear skies and warm sunshine - get your backside down onto the sand!

The walk to the beach basically consisted of a stroll to the end of the little road their flat was located on, crossing over a busier main road, and then descending the stairs that led beachgoers from the cliff-top to the small cluster of service buildings and shops that sat right at the very top of the beach, pale sands well out of the reach of even the highest spring tides.

Bronwyn steered their way onto the soft, warm fine-grain, Arthur trailing her with a pair of beach towels and what few simple provisions they'd deigned to bring along. He watched her hips as she sashayed gracefully across the sand before him, her translucent sarong skirt shimmering with her every movement, the thin material flowing lightly off her hips. The white fabric of the wrap and her elegant bikini were set at contrast to both the light tan and deep bistre of her fur, like the perfect frame to a carefully painted picture. The straw hat atop her head, holes cut into the rim to allow her horns to slip through, completed the ensemble and made the darkened fur at her shoulders seem almost like a cast shadow.

It didn't escape Arthur's notice that as they made their way across the beach heads were turning to regard the cowgirl as she bounded along, but if Bronwyn noticed any of it at all she gave no obvious outward indication. Anthromorphs and humans alike were eying her up, it seemed, and she was completely oblivious - or at least she was pretending to be.

When she turned to face him, walking backwards now with a genuine smile lighting up her features, Arthur felt a distant part of his mind register just how out of his league somebody that beautiful really ought to have been, though for her part Bronwyn always seemed as if she was just as happy to be around him.

"Come on!" she beamed, reaching out and taking hold of him by the arm, only to turn back and begin pulling him urgently with her across the warm sand.

He didn't resist, simply letting her draw him along.

Though he did question precisely where she was heading when they passed several large, seemingly ideal open patches of sand, "Where are we going?"

"Well away from all the people." She replied, gesturing with one hand towards the slowly-massing crowd of bodies and beach towels they'd just passed.

Arthur looked around at the wide variety of humans and Anthromorphs that were making their on the beach. The sands were fairly busy towards the top end, towards the base of the cliff where all the little shops and facilities were, and barely a spot remained unoccupied or unclaimed by either person or towel acting as a placeholder. Individuals and entire families alike, it appeared, had set up their respective pitches. Bronwyn seemed to be leading them over towards a much quieter section of beach off to one side of the little cove formed by the surrounding cliffs, where dry sand met a less abruptly sloped southerly cliff-face.

When they reached the base of the cliff Arthur stood patiently and let Bronwyn pick out the precise spot, handing her the towels and allowing her to lay them atop the sand side by side, separated by only a few meagre centimetres.

"Which one do you want?" she asked him as she regarded her handiwork.

"Does it matter?"

"Yes."

"Okay." He pointed to the one on the right, picking completely at random.

Bronwyn nodded appreciatively before kneeling on her own towel and rolling one end of it back to expose the sand beneath, scooping out a pair of deep grooves with her hands before laying the towel back over the recesses, then lying face-down on top of it.

Arthur blinked for a moment, his mind taking a second or two to fully process precisely what he'd just witnessed. An instant or two later he began to laugh.

"What?" Bronwyn looked at him curiously.

But Arthur was completely lost to a hearty laugh, "I can't believe you did that!"

"Hey, it's no laughing matter. This is comfort!" she feigned anger, her playful tone letting him know she wasn't really offended in the slightest, "You try getting comfortable with these."

Arthur raised his eyebrows suggestively, prompting Bronwyn to roll her eyes. She let it slide, settling down comfortably onto her towel.

Arthur reclined with a grin and a shake of his head, basking in the sun's rising warmth bathed his skin. With the sound of the breeze rolling in off the sea, carrying the rhythm of waves lapping the shore, the distant chatter of the beach's other occupants was easy enough to block out, the slowly passing moments moulding gladly into an expanding infinity. It wouldn't have been difficult at all to lose all track of time that way; mere seconds could've been minutes or even hours and Arthur wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

His ears did pick up on the change of pace of his bovine companion's breathing, having become low and deep. He allowed himself a chuckle. Had she really fallen asleep already? Arthur couldn't really blame her, relaxed as he was himself. He kept his own eyes closed and deigned to simply relax, passively listening to the rhythm of the ocean.

The sound of Bronwyn shifting around prompted him to open one eye and he smirked silently to himself when he saw that the cowgirl had rolled over onto her back, laying her hat across her face to protect it from the sun.

"Holy shit... Look at those udders!"

From behind his sunglasses Arthur could see a group of young guys in their late teens maybe, early twenties at most. They were standing just a couple of metres away and looking at Bronwyn, though they obviously thought Arthur was asleep from the way they paid him no heed.

"Dude, it's a cow." One of the others replied.

Arthur felt the hair on the back of his neck begin to bristle. Calling Bronwyn an it was needlessly rude and it grated at his sensibilities.

"Dude," the first one stressed, "she's hot!"

"Dude," came the deadpan response, "she's beef."

Arthur had to fend back a snarl at that one.

"No way. She's a milking shorthorn." The third guy asserted without emotion.

Arthur was surprised that one of them actually had the wherewithal to recognise her breed, much less actually articulate it.

"Whatever. She's an animal."

Arthur was more than a bit miffed by that. He could feel his temper rising. Bronwyn was a person! Beautiful, intelligent, vibrant... Just because she wasn't human, because she didn't meet this jerk's definition of worthy, that didn't mean she was any less deserving of basic common courtesy and respect.

Hell, in his eyes she probably deserved it all the more. Many Anthromorphs still had to work that much harder for their status in society than any one of these guys probably ever would have.

"She's sapient." The third guy assured.

Thank you, guy number three! It was good to hear at least one of them talking sense.

"And she's hot!" the first guy chimed in with his support.

Arthur did his best not to smirk. That fellow clearly only had one thing on his mind - not that he was wrong...

"Whatever." The second guy clearly wasn't swayed by either point, "Human and anthros. It ain't right."

"It ain't illegal either." The third guy pointed out.

The second guy scoffed, unconvinced, "You're only saying that because your mother's porking a horse."

"Dude," the first of them started, "that makes no sense..."

"Whatever. Fucking animals."

Arthur watched from behind his shades as the guy stalked off indignantly, leaving the other two where they stood. They both looked back to Bronwyn.

"Damn, she's hot." The first guy reaffirmed with a whistle.

"She's cute." His friend agreed a bit less passionately.

"Way out of _that_guy's league." They were both looking between Bronwyn and Arthur, "I'd totally do her, though!"

With that they left.

"Morons..." Arthur mumbled under his breath as he watched them depart.

"You get used to it." Bronwyn replied from his side. He was a little surprised; he hadn't realised she was actually awake, her eyes still obscured beneath the shield of her hat. The only reason he hadn't spoken up was because he hadn't wanted to cause a scene and disturb her rest.

"You were awake for all that?"

Bronwyn lifted her hat and opened an eye, squinting in the sunlight until it was back atop her head and offering some shade, "Why do you think I rolled over?" she raised an eyebrow suggestively.

Wait... She'd been baiting them?

"...To roast the front as well as the back?" he offered lamely.

"Smart arse." He was rewarded with the cowgirl sticking out her tongue.

All joking aside Arthur's tone became serious again, "You shouldn't have to tolerate that."

"Let it go." She sat up fully, folding her legs into an easy lotus, "We're here to relax, right?"

"Right..." Arthur was somewhat sceptical.

"Come on." Bronwyn rose to her feet, offering him one of her hands, "Let's go for a swim."

-o-O-o-

The water was pretty cool, but Arthur quickly got used to it. Being a calm day the waves weren't particularly big or impressive, but when standing chest-deep in the sea even a two or three foot wave could seem enormous. Still, it was fun trying to jump over them as they approached, timing the leap to scale them just before they broke.

Sure, it was a bit more active than they'd intended when they went down to the beach, not so much relaxing. But it was fun nonetheless, and that made it all worthwhile.

Arthur kept a close eye on Bronwyn the entire time. Given she was a full head shorter than he was the depth of water that only went up to his chest swamped the petite cowgirl all the way to her shoulders. More than once she'd mistimed her jump and almost been knocked clean over by a breaking wave - a good job she'd left her hat with the towels, or she would've probably lost it by now. She'd adapted quickly enough, taking to swimming circles around Arthur until she was treading water between him and the approaching waves.

At that depth she could've touched bottom with her tiptoes if she'd really wanted to, but she was enjoying herself.

"I didn't know cows could swim." Arthur teased, taking a step closer.

Bronwyn chuckled and shook her head, "I didn't know humans could sink."

"Huh?" Arthur frowned.

In time with the next wave the cowgirl propelled herself forwards, the crest carrying her faster than she could've swam alone. Timing it just right she reached Arthur and gave him a firm push on both shoulders with the palms of her hands. Off balance, the force of the wave and Bronwyn combined pushed him back further still, and he fell clean over just in time to see the wave come crashing down upon him.

When he came up he was sputtering and coughing water everywhere.

Bronwyn stood not too far away, water coming to just above her waist, chuckling to herself at the state she'd left him in.

Arthur shot her a disapproving look but the cowgirl feigned innocence.

His disapproving frown slowly became a grin of intent, "Oh, it is so on!"

Bronwyn yelped and turned, trying to wade away through the water and put some distance between herself and Arthur. He took the quicker route and began to swim after her, closing the gap with a few quick strokes. It didn't take him long to catch up and when he was within range he reached out and grabbed her by the tail. The cowgirl gasped when she felt his fingers wrap round it, spinning around to face him. The movement pulled Arthur to within arm's reach of the rest of her, but before he could straighten up Bronwyn dunked his head back under the water again.

Arthur was too slow to get his feet properly under him, though he was just quick enough to reach out and grab her by the waist as he went under. That gave him enough time to bend his knees and touch bottom with his toes. With a strong shove he pushed off the sand, rising up out of the water and letting his arms ensnare Bronwyn around her middle on the way back up.

The bovine let off a startled moo as the human captured her and carried her upwards, out of the water. His momentum kept her off-balance. The moo promptly turned to a shriek as she realised Arthur was pulling them both over backwards as they fell into the water.

They hit together, both going under.

Bronwyn emerged first, laughing and coughing almost uncontrollably before lying down again slowly and just letting herself float on her back, spurting a stream of water from her mouth. Arthur appeared off to one side, so she sprayed water in his face. Standing, she turned her back to him. He chuckled gently, stepping up behind her again and this time carefully slipping his arms around her waist. She placed her hands atop his forearms and rested her head back against his shoulder.

"Having fun yet?" Arthur whispered into her ear as he embraced her gently from behind.

Bronwyn sighed contentedly, moulding herself back against his form. She turned her head slightly, looking up into his eyes, "Kiss me." She whispered.

Arthur was a little taken aback. The request was out of the blue, but he didn't have it in him to deny her. Leaning in he sought out her lips with his own, meeting them tenderly. Bronwyn took a hold of his hands as she leaned into him, carefully lifting them from across her stomach to just beneath her bosom. Arthur felt himself flush and he would've likely let go of her there and then had his hands not been obscured from view by the water. Bronwyn sighed as she felt his hands slip between the cups of her bikini and the short fur of her breasts, his hands offering a light squeeze.

She looked left and right, carefully taking note of what was going on around them. The beach was getting busier, but here amongst the rise and swell of the sea, between the roll and foam of the waves, they may as well have been completely alone. The risqué nature of what they were doing thrilled her, drawing a sly smirk from the corner of her lips.

The smile was reinforced as she felt the front of Arthur's swimwear tent against her rear, and at that point she knew she had him. Reaching back the cowgirl placed a soft-furred hand palm-flat against his stomach, fingertips just above the elasticated waist of his trunks. She let it slide down beneath the fabric, inching tantalisingly down at a torturous pace.

Arthur gasped into her ear but he made no motions to pull away or stop her, his hands holding her firmly beneath the water.

Bronwyn felt his length pulse in her hand as she let her fingers wrap around it. When she squeezed, running her hand from the hilt to his glans and back, she felt him tremble.

"Bronwyn..." he hissed sharply into her ear.

"Arthur." She replied in a sultry tone, her voice like honey, dripping with intent.

She began stroking him in earnest, determined, deliberate, head to hilt. And she was relentless! Forceful in her long, firm ministrations of his length, adamant in her actions that this was all going to go precisely according to her will.

Arthur found himself enjoying it immensely.

But the cowgirl was leaving him very weak at the knees, and soon he was leaning against her for support as much as he was holding himself up with his quivering legs. He felt her nipples poking against the palms of his hands as he cupped the soft, expansive globes of her breasts, so it was obvious she was getting at least something out of the experience. But it was a small, distant part of his mind that chose to register the fact, the rest of his attention drawn unsurprisingly to the actions of her hand.

Craning his neck he placed an appreciative kiss on the cowgirl's neck, eliciting a grateful little moo in return. Bronwyn allowed herself to enjoy the press of his lips and the stimulating caress of his hands, but she didn't let her attention wander from the task at hand.

She was also keeping the occasional eye on their surroundings. She was sure that to anybody looking they simply appeared to be a couple embracing affectionately in the depths of the surf. But if anybody got close enough they'd probably be able to figure out that she was actually giving the very appreciative young gentleman behind her a hand job.

At that particular moment she felt like mischief incarnate.

A gasp was drawn from her own lips when Arthur's hands went from simply massaging her bosom to fully supporting their weight in his palms and forearms, freeing up his fingertips to pinch at her nipples directly.

Not one to be outdone, Bronwyn let her free hand creep down behind her to join the first in the man's trunks, sliding down between Arthur's thighs to cup his balls with an encouraging pat. She could feel his body tense against her and she knew she was on the right track.

"Bronwyn!" he gasped through clenched teeth.

She offered a smile that he couldn't possibly see, taking his whimper as a warning that she was _definitely_edging him ever closer. She leaned her head back against his shoulder again, looking up at his face. His deep green eyes pleaded with her, but he didn't speak a word. The look she tried to return was feigned innocence, but there was no way that would ever wash.

So instead, she lifted herself up onto her tiptoes so that her lips just reached his ears. It changed the way they were balanced and she felt his fingers release her nipples, slipping down beneath her breasts and holding her chest directly, pulling her almost completely flush to him by her ribs. He was firm enough to counterbalance her against him, but not holding her so tightly that she couldn't breathe. There was nothing else he could've done to remain upright.

She basically had him pinned.

Breathing lustily into his ear the cowgirl whispered a single instruction; just one word.

"Cum."

Arthur whimpered, but he didn't disappoint, and erupted forcefully into her waiting hand. She felt several strong, warm bursts reach her palm through the cool seawater and for a moment she felt exceptionally pleased with herself. It was her fault; _she_had caused it.

"Payback for earlier..." She whispered into his ear as he came, the hand that encircled his length slowly and carefully working in time with each expulsive throb until the moment passed.

When she was done she removed her hands and washed them off in the water all around them. Arthur's hands found their way down to her hips, but for the most part he simply stood there enjoying his afterglow and trying to catch his breath.

Hormones sated a few thoughts began to surface in his mind, and he wondered again precisely what he'd done to deserve being around the bovine belle.

A little self-doubt made its way to the surface too, pricking a tiny hole in the fabric of his present almost euphoric reality. He couldn't help but wonder whether this was all just a passing fling to her.

-o-O-o-

By mid-afternoon the incoming tide had halved the size of the beach, then halved it again, leaving conditions very cramped and crowded. So the bovine-human duo had decided to head back to their flat, grab a quick bite to eat, then head out on the town to sample what would hopefully be a vibrant holiday-season nightlife.

It had taken less time than Arthur had expected for them both to get ready - despite having fur over most of her body it seemed Bronwyn was astoundingly adept at getting every last hair in the right place and adorn her usual casual white pleated dress - and they were at the bar of their choosing, placing orders before the clock had even struck seven.

Being as early as they were the place was still mostly deserted. The dance floor was desolate, no DJ present to provide a rhythm or a beat - no music of any kind was being played at that point - just a few large screen TVs on the walls and over the bar playing the local evening news and sports. There were precious few other punters to contend with, so the slight male feliform serving behind the bar had been quick to oblige them with their drinks and help the pair get the night kicked off with pleasant ease.

An hour and a half and several drinks later the place was more or less packed to capacity, the music was booming (though not overly heavy on the bass) and the entire place felt that much more alive! The way that Bronwyn kept gazing out onto the teeming throng of the dance floor wasn't lost on Arthur. He wasn't usually one for dancing, but after the few drinks they'd shared he was feeling much more laid back than usual.

That, and he wasn't _actually_expecting to have to embarrass himself by giving away his complete lack of natural rhythm.

The cowgirl he was with clearly had other ideas.

Bronwyn downed the remainder of her drink in one fell gulp, slamming her glass down with some force. Arthur was about to ask her what she was doing when she grabbed him by the hand and dragged him to his feet.

"Dance with me." It was more an instruction than a request, and he was pulled with some force onto the open dance floor.

"I can't dance." He tried to warn her as they came to a stop and she turned to face him.

"Just follow my lead." She stepped up close enough that her chest was pressed against his abdomen, taking his hands and placing them on her hips. Reaching up she then slipped her own around his neck, fingers entwining and pulling him close.

The song they were dancing to wasn't particularly fast-paced, so Bronwyn began slowly - slow enough for Arthur to keep up. She may have been the smaller of the two but as she began to sway Arthur followed suit and soon she was leading him in circles across the floor. He felt as if he were clueless when it came to dancing, but Bronwyn sure seemed to know what she was doing. Even with the constraint of his ungainly steps in her wake, Bronwyn moved and flowed with a liquid grace that Arthur simply hadn't been expecting.

At one point they'd separated for a moment and he'd almost forgotten to keep moving himself as he watched the cowgirl take to the rhythm, closing her eyes and expressing herself in her careful, smooth motions.

Arthur quickly realised he wasn't the only one watching her. She was beautiful to behold, and she'd drawn the rapt attention of a few other males in the immediate vicinity of the floor.

But when those long eyelashes parted with a contented smile lighting up her face, and she moved to close the distance between them, she seemed to only have eyes for him.

The evening had proven more than willing to surrender itself to the small hours of the morning. By the time they'd left the club Arthur's feet were aching, but not in a way he really minded, and he'd shared enough drinks with Bronwyn that he was still wide awake and full of sugar. He'd never been a prolific alcohol drinker so things like coke or lemonade often found their way into the mix - drinking for flavour rather than effect - and the whole experience had left him dancing on a sugar induced high.

There'd be a crash later, he didn't doubt. But for that one night he was content to ride it out with a smile.

But even after they were done dancing Bronwyn hadn't wanted to go home. So Arthur, content to simply share in her company, had allowed her to take the lead. He wasn't overly surprised when she led them down to the beach, the sand cool and damp from the last receding tide. He'd taken his shoes off so that they could walk through the ankle-deep shallows together. It wasn't something he'd really put much thought into, but Arthur noticed now how little Bronwyn seemed to ever wear anything on her feet outside of work. The fine dark brown bistre fur that coloured her feet and lower calves, when contrasted with the paler tan that ran up the remainder of her legs, made it look as if she were wearing lengthy socks, but the cute little furred toes of her essentially bare feet played counter to the claim.

Perhaps she was just more comfortable that way?

"Arthur?" her voice was soft, almost timid, barely audible at all over the gentle crash of the waves. When he looked at her she was still glancing ahead, not turning to meet his gaze, "There's something I've been meaning to discuss with you..."

She seemed to have put a little distance between the two of them, though he couldn't tell if it was deliberate or just a result of their slow wayward gait. The way she'd wrapped her arms around herself made her seem small, defensive. This was going to be serious.

This was it, a small part of his mind seemed to sigh, filled with all of his previous doubts, But then, all good things must come to an end.

"Okay..." he sighed. He had to admit, it hurt, but then part of him had always known it would come to this. He'd known from the moment he'd first laid eyes on her that Bronwyn was out of his league. Hell, he'd heard others point it out. He'd seen the way other males looked at her, human and Anthromorph alike. Beautiful, smart, independent. Girls like that didn't hang around with guys like him. He knew that. It was a universal truth, and he accepted it.

But it still hurt.

"We've been having fun for a while now..."

Oh gods...

"And I like to think we're close friends," Bronwyn looked right at him now, "right?"

The friend zone? Oh no...

It was all Arthur could do to manage a nod.

"Well," Bronwyn hesitated when her eyes met his, both of them breaking contact a bit too quickly and looking away, "I've been doing a lot of thinking about what we've been doing and how it makes me feel..."

This is it...

"And, well, I don't think I'll ever get a better time to bring this up."

Arthur nodded slowly. A romantic beach, the very first signs of dawn brightening the skies and chasing the stars away, casting everything in a slowly growing orange glow. Yeah. Perfect place to draw things to a close, the voice in his head rued bitterly.

"I... I'm not entirely sure how to say this..."

Butterflies took flight in Arthur's stomach. He could feel it coming. Inevitable.

"I don't want us to be friends with benefits anymore."

He knew it. He'd known it from the very beginning. He felt something tear deep down inside his very soul. It was over. It was all over... His eyes closed tight shut to fend off the moisture welling in his eyes.

"You..." Bronwyn's voice fell to barely a whisper and for a moment she wavered, "You mean so much more to me than that."

Wait, what?

His eyes shot open, "What do you mean...?"

Bronwyn was still looking at him, meek and unsure of herself, cheeks reddening in a slight blush, "I want to be more to you than just a friend... Because you're so much more than that to me."

Arthur stopped dead in his tracks. Bronwyn took a few paces beyond him before stopping herself, just a little way ahead, turning to face him. She looked at Arthur, her deep cupreous eyes sparkling and begging for his response.

There was only one thing he could say.

"I love you."

Bronwyn's eyes went wide with a gasp. A fraction of a second later she'd flung herself at him, her arms wrapping behind his neck. Arthur caught her around the waist as her lips met his, bodies held together in a tight embrace. Lost in each other, neither seemed to care when her momentum toppled them both over backwards into the cool, shallow sea.

Their lips didn't part for an instant, until the moment came when they both had to draw breath. Even then their parting was reluctant and only as far as they needed to go. Arthur lay on his back in the surf, the cowgirl of his dreams sitting upright and straddling his lap, palms flat on his chest. They simply looked to one-another, a warm smile shared, neither giving much care that they were thoroughly soaked to the bone.

It was Bronwyn who broke first, smile turning into a giggle, then a chuckle, then a heat-felt full-bodied laugh. Arthur wasn't far behind her, sharing in the moment of joy. It was a cleansing experience, all his worries, woes and uncertainties washed away amongst the mellifluous tones of Bronwyn's laughter and the small, lapping waves.

The seconds eventually passed and Bronwyn spared a passing moment to look down at Arthur. Her eyes danced and she moved down slowly to recapture his lips in a meaningful kiss. Arthur welcomed it, returning her emotions. It was better said this way; he wasn't sure he had the words to do them justice.

Arthur's fingertips rested along the outside of her thighs as she straddled him, slowly tracing up against the lay of her fur and running beneath the fabric skirt of her dress. When they found their way to the top of her hips without hindrance it took a moment for the man's mind to catch up.

When it eventually did he stopped everything.

Bronwyn noticed and broke the kiss, sitting up a little bit, looking at him quizzically.

"Wyn, are you not wearing any...?" he trailed off.

A smirk tugged at the corner of the cow girl's lips, her eyes filled with unmistakably mischievous resolve. Looking around she could see that they were completely alone down by the water, the revelation relieving her of any lingering inhibition, melting away harmlessly amongst the waves and sand.

Arthur began to wonder what she was up to as she shifted herself further down his frame, ending up straddling his knees. He was on the verge of asking when she reached forwards and began to undo his belt. Bronwyn was rough and insistent, pulling his trousers and underwear down to his thighs in one forceful tug, leaving him exposed.

To the bovine belle's utter delight she could see that he was already ready for her, his arousal standing proud, beckoning her to continue. She was going to enjoy this.

Bronwyn didn't wait a moment longer than she had to before sliding herself back up Arthur's body. She came to rest with her knees planted in the sand either side of his hips. Arthur could feel the heat from her core as his length came to rest along the lips of her heated sex, the entire scene concealed beneath the sodden, pleated folds of the skirt-like lower hem of her dress. Arthur drew a short sharp breath as Bronwyn ground her hips slowly back and forth in slight but deliberate movement, teasing, a weak coo of appreciation escaping the cowgirl herself in reply.

They were both ready. They both wanted this.

Leaning forwards over Arthur's body and planting her hands either side of his head, Bronwyn began to move - arching her back slightly - so that the head of Arthur's length stood poised, kissing eagerly against her entrance. She felt him remove his hands from her waist, raising his hands to slip them between her palms and the wet sand, fingers interlacing as she pinned him to the ground. It was Arthur's way of surrendering himself to her will.

When she slid down again she impaled herself upon him in a single long, drawn, torturous motion. Bronwyn bit her lip as she settled flush with his lap, the impish smirk of self-satisfaction not budging from her lips for an instant.

She began with slow gyrations, letting herself get used to his presence as she felt him throb within her. It wasn't much, but it was just enough to make her toes curl on each pass. When the cowgirl felt she was ready she began to rock back and forth, drawing herself up and down Arthur's length. The way she had Arthur pinned to the sand made it very difficult for him to contribute, but he still tried to thrust upwards on her every downward slide, adding that little bit more urgency to the whole affair.

Bronwyn's hair cascaded down around her face like a platinum waterfall, the tips of her silvery-white fronds tickling Arthur's face as her movement traced them back and forth across his skin. She was close enough that just by leaning up a short way he could brush his lips against hers, encouraging her to follow him back down in search of a proper kiss.

Their hands parted as she stretched them further outwards, allowing her body to fall level against her human lover, leaving them stomach to stomach and chest to chest, the hard nipples atop each of her generous breasts noticeable to the pinned man even through the layers of her dress and his shirt. With their lips locked and his hands free Arthur let them slip down and around the riding cowgirl, holding on to Bronwyn where her slim waist flared into the wanton curve of her hard-working hips.

There was no way the two of them could have been closer than they were in that moment. Bronwyn could feel the thunder of Arthur's heart against her chest; his every deep heated breath; the very pulse and throb of his need for her as she drove them both on.

There was something exceptionally risqué about making love on a public beach, even if they were completely alone. The whole sensation of perceived risk just seemed to intensify things all the more and much to Bronwyn's surprise she felt a familiar feeling akin to a spring being tightly coiled deep within her core.

Arthur was far too focussed on the actions of his cowgirl as she rode him to take in their surroundings at all, his mind incapable of sparing thought for anything else other than her. He paid no mind to the lapping water, the warming breeze, the brightening morning dusk, or even the possibility that they could ever be caught.

The sights, the scents, the sounds; all that mattered was Bronwyn.

He could feel the tension rising in her body as she drove him in and out of her with an ever-increasing fervour, and he could see her arms quivering at the elbows as she struggled to support herself.

Bronwyn sat upright just before she felt her arms were going to give way, the cow girl opting to ride him like a cowgirl. Arthur was enraptured by the look of bliss on her face, eyes half-lidded, teeth digging into her lower lip. Her moans were beginning to increase in intensity, punctuated regularly with an unrestrained whimper or a lusty moo.

She was getting close. Not that Arthur minded; he was so close he wasn't sure which of them would climax first.

When Bronwyn placed her forearms together, palms flat against his stomach and her upper arms pressing her breasts against one-another, Arthur was convinced that it would be the cowgirl. But when she changed the angle of her thrusts back slightly so she was almost bouncing straight up and down on top of him, she seemed to tighten almost overwhelmingly around him.

"Wyn...." He managed to pant out a warning.

Bronwyn smirked knowingly down at him, closing her eyes fully and letting herself get lost in the feeling. She was wound so tight she felt she may explode.

But Arthur beat her to it.

Sitting upright suddenly he wrapped his arms around Bronwyn's waist, burying his face in her cleavage as he moaned out her name. The cowgirl slipped her arms loosely over his shoulders as she descended for the final time. Somehow he thrust up to meet her, and that was the last straw.

He erupted deep inside her. The sudden throb of his length from within and the sudden hot bursts of heat as he filled her coiled that spring within her far too tight.

With a self-satisfied moo, her fingers raking into Arthur's shoulder blades, the overstimulated cowgirl felt the dam rupture and orgasm washed through her entire body. Arthur held her close as he came down, feeling as every muscle in the bovine belle's form spasm and flex as waves of bliss overcame her.

He held her close throughout.

When she came down from her high she collapsed on top of him. He had enough sense about him to cushion her fall and lower himself slowly back to the sand. Arthur couldn't see her face - she'd buried it in the crook of his neck - but he could feel the warmth of her breath against his ear and the rise and fall of her chest as she allowed her breath to catch up with her.

Arthur gifted a soft kiss to the tip of her ear, making it flick reflexively, a reaction he'd never tire of.

Bronwyn chuckled softly, still drawing laboured breaths, turning so that her nose nuzzled just behind his ear in return before rolling over and off him. Arthur felt himself slip free from within her, leaving him exposed to the much cooler sea air. He made a half-hearted effort to preserve his modesty, just enough to keep things legal, though they were still in no danger of being caught. He sat up slowly and fastened his belt carefully, not caring at all that his clothes were completely soaked.

His cowgirl companion turned onto her side, propping herself up on one elbow, head resting in the palm of her hand. Arthur let himself fall back to the sand with a dull thud and an exaggerated sigh, closing his eyes and inhaling the fresh air.

He felt Bronwyn trail a finger lightly up his chest, "Enjoy that?"

When he turned to look at her he could see the daylight reflected in her eyes as the sun crested over the cliff at the far end of the bay. It made her eyes shine like polished copper, the deep black of her pupils sparkling like a starscape at deepest midnight.

Whatever his response had originally been he lost it in that moment.

"I could lose myself forever watching the sun rise and set in your eyes."

Bronwyn tittered, then she laughed. It was such a corny line, but she could see the intense earnestness behind his words. She knew he meant them. It made her feel warm inside.

So she tried on three special words of her own.

"I love you."

Arthur felt his heart sing. And now he knew.

That was why she was with him.

Author's Note: Sometimes ideas take hold and they just won't let go. At present, for me, that's Bronwyn. I have a few other tales from her universe to potentially write up, so we'll see how this goes.

Constructive critique is always more than welcome. I need to learn if I'm going to improve, so let me know what you thought - anything good, anything I could improve. I'm my own worst critic so I've no idea if this is good or if I'm way wide of the mark.
