"Where will these visions lead?" "How far, dare I go?" "Where will this song take me?" "Into the deep, unknown."

"All I could smell was her hair... All I could smell was her hair... Burning!" The porcupine yelled into the microphone, singing her heart out to the cheering crowd. She danced and thrashed around on the stage, the chains on her jeans jingling around, she was dressed in her stage clothes, dark clothing, lots of chains and metal, not all that different from her normal clothing. Once she finished the song the lights starting to dim, with a smile she tossed the mic out into the crow, a souvenir for the lucky concert goer. Once the light completely dimmed she slowly made her way back stage, panting softly as she was greeted by the sight of her manager running up to her. "That was another amazing set." The male cat said, walking beside the singer, handing her a hand towel. "Thanks." Was all that she said as she got to the door. "Is it clear?" She asked waiting at the door, knowing that she was going to be swamped by fans on the way to the tour bus. "It is." He said smiling and standing next to her. "It shouldn't be to bad." "You know, say that every damn time." She said taking the hand towel, using it to wipe the sweat from her brow and face. "Last time, you said it, I had how many people trying to get a quill?" She asked as she was handed a pen. "Really?" "You know that it's good for looks and all that." He said throwing the door open, the are filling with the sound of the screaming crowd. "Fuck you." She said to him, smiling and staring to walk to the bus. The porcupine smiled to the crowd, waving and putting on a little show for them, even stopping and signing a few autographs, making those lucky fans scream and squeal louder. "Those animals." She said as she got to and into the bus, leaning against the door for a moment. "Nothing like screaming fans, eh?" A soft voice came from the center of the bus. "Then again, you should be used to it." "Oh I am." The porcupine said smiling as she walked to the source of the voice. "But there is one scream that I like the most. That sexy scream when my little slut gets worked up." She said smiling as she walked up to the small dining table, smiling at the opossum that sat there. "Mmmmmh, well maybe you will hear that tonight." The opossum said as she stood up, walking over to the other girl and smiled, resting her arms on the older girl. "Cass, I love you." She said smiling. "I love you to, my Lilly." She said smiling and leaning in, planting a kiss on her lips. "How long has it been?" She asked, slowly starting to kiss along Lilly's neck. "Thirteen." Lilly whispered as she felt her lover's lips trailing along her neck, reaching the collar of the loose shirt that she had on. "Thirteen long, amazing, perfect years." She said, shivering a little as she felt Cassidy's hands starting to tug her shirt up and off. "And there's going to be how many more?" The porcupine asked, still kissing her way along the opossum's chest, along the heart shaped bald spot, heading right to her nipple. Cass' skilled tongue snaking out and starting to lick and tease at Lilly's nipple, slowly tracing around the metal bar that ran through her nipple. "A lot more... A life time more." Lilly said in a throaty moan as she felt the teasing tongue. Lilly let out another moan as she felt her lover's lips wrapping around her pierced nipple, purring and smiling as she felt her starting to suck, feeling a splash of warm, sweet milk splash across her tongue, she gave a few more suckles before going back to kissing her way down the opossum's somewhat pudgy tummy. "Mmmmh still just right." Cass said as she reached waistline of Lilly's jeans, looking up to see her blushing. "Oh you, you know that gets me." She said smiling as she felt her tugging her pants down. "Mmmmh is someone hungry after her big show?" Lilly asked as her pants pooled around her ankles and Cass gave her a little nudge, Lilly flopping onto the sofa, legs open. "Mmmmmh, made me more thirsty." Cassidy said smiling as she leaned in, her tongue snaking out again to run along the opossum's nether lips, running up, feeling the piercings that she had in each lip, stopping at the hoop that ran through her clit. She looked up and smiled, holding it between her teeth, soon starting to give it little tugs and yanks, getting moans out of it's owner. "God, you're such a tease." The opossum panted out, her own foot lifting up, finding it's place between the porcupine's legs, brushing between them as they hooked on the edge of her pants, slowly starting to pull them down. "Mmmmh, you're one to talk." She said as she started licking her lover's slit, starting from the bottom, heading to the top, even letting her tongue dip into her, greedily licking at her honey pot, getting more and louder moans out of her. The whole time the opossum's foot was working it's way into her pants, finding it's way deeper, nestling into the warmth between her legs, getting a moan out of the porcupine. "See what I mean?" The two stayed there, letting the world around them melt away. The slings and arrows of the day disappearing, the screams of the fans outside going quiet, even the bothersome manager of Cass' dropping off the face of the world, it was just them. Cassidy pulled away from eating out her lover, sliding up and sitting in her lap, smiling as she brushed Lilly's hair to the side, pulling her into a kiss, letting their tongues mingle and dance about. The peace of the moment, didn't last, one scream broke through the silence, causing the pair's eyes to snap open and the kiss to be broken, they only looked at one another for a moment before Cass moved to the side and Lilly got to her feet, pulling her pants up. "I got it." She said walking into the other room. "What is it sweetie?" She could be heard talking to someone, "are you hungry?" She asked, her purring soon filling the room as she walked back into the main room of the tour bus, a small bundle of pink blanket snuggled into her arms. "Like clockwork." Cassidy said smiling as she watched the mother opossum sitting down next to her. "She gets that from you." Lilly said smiling, looking down at the little opossum, porcupine hybrid, at their child. "She's so beautiful, and perfect." The mother porcupine said, leaning in, smiling at the sight of her daughter drinking her mother's milk. "Mmmmh, something else that she gets from you." Lilly said smiling warmly, the smile growing as she watched a small, delicate hand peeking from the blanket. "No, she get that from both of us." Cass said, holding a finger up, smiling as her baby's small hand held onto it. "Our little Rose." She said, snuggling up to Lilly, tossing her arm around her shoulder, kissing her on the cheek. "I love you." "I love you to." The opossum whispered back, nuzzling against her lover. "Lilly..." A voice called out to here. "Lilly... You ok?" The voice asked again. "Yeah..." The opossum said sleepily, slowly opening her eyes. "Why?" "You were mumbling in your sleep, and moving a lot." Katie said softly, before laying back against the opossum. "I was having a dream..." She said stopping, reaching up to wipe a tear away from her cheek. "You sure you're ok?" Katie asked, looking up to her. "Need to talk about it?" She asked. "It... It wasn't a bad one." She said smiling. "I'll tell you in the morning... I want to see if I can go back to it." She said, closing her eyes again. The day was dragging on, the two had woken up from their naps, taking a little time to walk around the boxcar, taking time to look at the many boxes, not opening any of them, though they would peek into a few of them. It didn't take them long to figure out that they were on a freight train. "Why does the room keep spinning?" The opossum said, holding her head, resting it on her knees, curled up into a little ball. "Are you feeling ok?" Katie asked, slowing rubbing her friend's back. "What's wrong?" She asked, reaching up to feel the opossum's forehead. "I feel like I'm going to puke." She said shivering a little. "The room is spinning and if I turn my head it's worse, and I feel icky, and oh god." She said staggering to her feet and rushing off to the other end of the boxcar. She ducked behind some boxes, falling to her knees and started gagging and having, her breakfast coming up and splattering the floor of the boxcar. "Oh Lilly, you have motion sickness." Katie said shaking her head. "This must be the first time that you have been on a train and it just took you by surprise." She said walking over to her backpack and fishing out the first aid kit, opening and digging through it from something. "This doesn't happen any other time." The opossum said, whimpering a little. "I have been in cars and on boats and stuff before and it never happened then." "Did your parents or Amanda give you a small yellow pill?" The numbat asked as she watched the opossum walking around from behind the boxes. "Now that you mention it, they did." She said looking to the numbat, seeing that she had one of the yellow pills in one hand and a bottle of water in the other. "Here, this will help." Katie said smiling and handing her them, watching her take the medicine. "I don't know what I would do without you." The opossum said smiling and pulling her into a soft hug. "So how do you know that we are there? Or when we will get there?" Katie asked as the two walked back to the little nest that they had build in the corner of the car, behind some boxes. "I don't know. I figure a few hours to a day." The opossum said as she snuggled up with Katie. "I have never been a good judge of time and or distance." She said with a little shrug. "I was planning on getting off where it stops and then figuring out where I was and going from there." "Oh Lilly." Katie said shaking her head. "I really wish that you would try and think this through a little better." "I know." She said shrugging. "I said that I wasn't good at planning ahead..." She said, stopping for a moment. "But hey, that's why I have you." "You're going to need to learn, cause I'm not always going to be there for you." Katie said shaking her head. "So, just try for me." "Ok." Lilly said smiling a little, thinking a little. "Ok, so I think I can do this planning ahead." She said nodding. "So, once the train stops, we will get off and head to the closest store and find out where we are, find a map and go from there." "See, even having that little bit of a plan is better than nothing." The numbat said smiling. The two lounged around the boxcar care, curiosity getting the better of them at one point, Lilly deciding to open one of the boxes and get a look at the things that the train was moving, the box contained different things that you would find on sell at a local big chain store. The two had no real idea how long the ride was, but soon, just as the sun was starting to set, the train started coming to a halt. "All right." Lilly said peeking around from the box as the train came to a stop. "Once the doors open, we give it a few moments to let the workers move on a few cars, and then we run like hell." Lilly said ducking back down, shouldering her pack as Katie did the same. "Ok." Katie said as she looked to the opossum, going quiet as they heard movement a car or two away. "Get ready." She whispered as she heard the door to their car sliding open. There was a few moments of silence and complete stillness before the opossum turned to face the numbat and smiled. "On three." She whispered. "One... Two... Three..." She softly counted out. The moment that the word three left the opossum's lips the two jumped up and darted around the the boxes and jumping to the ground from the car, hitting the ground running. It took them just a moment or two to see where they need to run, right for the fence and the open gate. Dash at full speed, the two's legs pumping as hard as fast as they could. The ran and ran for what seemed like miles before hitting the gate and running past it, still running a little after that, till they got to a point that they thought that it was safe for them to stop. "Ok..." Lilly said panting out as they got to the edge of the street that ran in front of the train yard. "I think that we..." She said holding her chest, gasping a little. "Stop here and rest." She said leaning against a street sign. "I don't think that they saw..." Katie said taking a deep breath, trying to catch her breath as well. "Us... That or they didn't care." She said shrugging and putting her hand on Lilly's back, rubbing it slowly as she listened to her panting. "You ok there?" "Once... Once I catch my breath I will be." The opossum said sitting up, still holding her chest. "Lets go." She said, starting to walk, following along the side of the road, watching the few cars that would pass by. "Are you sure, we can rest a little longer." Katie said as she followed her. "I mean I'm fine with sitting here a little." "I know, but it's getting dark and we need to find the city before then and someplace to hunker down for the night, some place warm hopefully." She said, shivering as the cold wind cut through it, it was clear to the both of them that it was a little if not a lot colder here than back in Jonestown. "It feels strange to be away from Jonestown." Katie said, making conversation as they walked down the side of the street. "I know, it's amazing." Lilly said smiling and looking up to the sky, it look clearer to her. "It feels so nice to be away from it and the curse." She said looking to Katie as she kept walking, a cityscape starting to spring up in the distance. "A curse?" She said tilting her head, looking at the opossum with a suspicious look. "Yeah." She said shrugging a little. "They say that the town is cursed, the story has a few iterations as to what the curse is and how it happens and all that." "Ok, you're going to have to tell me more than just that." Katie said, the suspicious look still on her face. "How do you even know all of this?" "Well, this is what I know." Lilly said, starting her story, snow starting to fall from the sky as if to add mood to her story. "The most common telling is that, along time ago this cult tried to summon this monster, demon, god or some shit." She said shrugging. "In order for them to do it, they all had to drink this 'magical' elixir that would transfer their life to the thing and give it form." "That sounds like bull." Katie chimed in. "That kinda thing can't be real can it?" She asked, a bit of fear and concern in her voice. "Who knows." Lilly said shrugging, the city slowly getting closer. "It's said that they summoned the thing, and that it got pissed because they didn't offer it enough life or something and it cursed the city, saying that it would keep killing people, taking life with poisons and chaos until it was happy..." She said pausing. "Or some shit like that." "So there is a monster thing that stalks the city, causing people to die? All in the name of some cult that wanted to summon some greater thing?" She asked, confused about the story. "Yup. I have heard from some people that the thing will posses people to do his dirty work and pass judgment on bad people, or something like that." She said, pausing for a moment, shivering all over, attributing it to the cold. "Well..." Katie stopped, thinking for a moment, gazing at the city that was getting ever closer. "Is there any proof that it could be real?" "Some people talk about seeing red eyes in the woods, and around the mines. Some talk about knowing people that would hear voices telling them to kill someone and things like that." She said, shivering about at the mention of the voices. "But as many times as we went camping we never seen anything like that, and dad worked at the mines and he never said anything about seeing anything like that or hearing voices." "Do you believe it?" Katie asked as the two got to the edge of the city. "I mean, you know more about it." "Yes and no." She said shrugging. "I mean, I think that there is something wrong with the city, and it might be as simple as it just being a city full of bad people, a hive of villainy and all that, or the curse could be a real thing." She said shrugging. "I mean, if you look at it, I did poison David, and then tried to do it to myself." She said, the sounds of her footsteps changing as they walked onto the sidewalk of the city. "Come on, we need to find some kind of shelter." She said as she led her friend down a street. "What, are we like going to go up to some hotel and be like we need a room, but we have no money." Katie said, looking over to Lilly, "I really don't want to have to spend the night outside." "I know." She said walking aimlessly down another street. "And don't worry, we won't have to." She said, looking up to a building near the end of the road. "There." She said pointing to a small building, the lettering on it reading Denny's. "A restaurant?" Katie asked as she was lead there by Lilly, tilting her head a little. "A Denny's." She said smiling as they walked through the parking lot. "We stopped at one of these on the way to the port before the cruise." She said as they got to the door, stopping and turning back to her. "They stay open all night, and really don't care if you do it to." She said smiling. "Just follow my lead." "Ok..." Katie said, a little unsure of just what the opossum had planned at this point. "Hello. Can I help you little girls." A voice called out to the two the moment that they got into the building. "No, we're good." Lilly said smiling and looking up to the worker. "My momma dropped us off, we're here with her mom, I'm going to spend the night with her." She said smiling and nodding as she walked off into the restaurant, acting just like she knew where she was going, Katie in toe as Lilly went to the back of the building. "Lilly what are we doing?" Katie asked as Lilly got to a part of the restaurant that was closed off with a partition. "We are going to be staying here." Lilly said smiling as she nudged the sliding partition open and slipping into it, Katie following with her. "They use this are for parties and things, so there isn't going to be anyone here, and they shouldn't check it." "Are you sure?" Katie asked as she looked around the dimly lit room, Lilly closing the door behind her, before walking to the back of the room. "Mostly." She said setting her bag down, starting to move one of the tables out of the corners, setting up the area the two would be bunking for the night. "Lilly." She said with a sigh. "Sometimes I think that you're too smart for your own good." Katie said setting her bag down with the opossum's. "But what are we going to do for food and stuff?" "Well. We are in a restaurant." She said smiling and poking her tongue out. "I mean it's a simple answer, we just sneak out to grab some noms and get back in here." She said walking over to the partition. "And if I'm not mistaking, there's bathrooms in the back that we don't have to leave the room to get to." "Lilly." She said shaking her head. "Maybe you weren't kidding about being able to make it without me." Katie said watching the opossum walking up to the partition and nudging it open. "Maybe, but it wouldn't be as fun." She said smiling and motioning for her to come with her. "Come on, lets get something to eat." Lilly said smiling as her and Katie made their way out of their little hide away and out into the opening. The two made their way to the long buffet that ran through the middle of the building, taking a plate and walking around, gathering up all of the different things they wanted. Lilly piling her plate high with whatever that looked tasty to her, it had been a long time since she had a chance to get food this good and varied. She ended up, settling on a nice steak, with a big helping of mashed potatoes and string beans. Katie took a different approach to what she wanted to eat. Her plate was piled high with different fruits and veggies, a small sampling of all that the buffet had to offer. Once the two had all that they wanted they snuck their way back to their little nest. "Katie you're a vegetarian?" Lilly asked, tilting her head a little as she looked over the numbats plate. "Yeah, biggest part of my family is, it's been like that for as long as I can remember." She said sitting at the table across from Lilly. "So have you given anything thought to how we are going to figure out where we are without looking too suspicious?" "Well." Lilly said taking a bite of her steak. "That one is easy." She said smiling. "All we have to do is go to a gas station, look at the map rack and see what state maps are on sell." She said as she went back to eating. "Oh." She said a little surprised at not thinking of that herself. "What about supplies and stuff?" She asked looking to the backpacks that sat in the corner of the room. "Let me guess, we're going to have to steal them to?" "Unless you have some money that I don't know about." Lilly said looking up from her dinner. "You know that I don't." She said looking down at her plate. "I really don't like the idea of having to steal." "I don't either, but we have to, it's all in the name of survival." She said thinking for a moment or two. "And besides, once things get settled, we could send them a letter with some money, telling them what it's for and that we are sorry." She said, knowing that it would probably never happen, but it would make her feel better about it. "Ok, that is..." She paused for a moment, "a little better." Katie said, the two going back to eating, finishing their meal in silence more or less. It was clear to the pair that they were worried about things, about the trip and about the things that would happen and could happen. Once they had finsished their meals they took turns heading to the bathroom in the back, both thankful that the private section of the Denny's had it's own restrooms for them to use. They took this chance to freshen up the best that they could. Gathering up wads of paper towels and wetting them in the sink and using them to wipe down and clean off their fur the best that they could. They might have been on the run, but that wasn't going to stop them from caring for themselves. They kept their pre bedtime routines. "Lilly, is it still sore?" Katie asked, looking over the stitched up, heart shaped cut on the opossum's bare chest. "It is, but it's not as bad as it used to be." She said softly, watching from her seat as Katie walked over to the sink and washed her hands, the first aid kit sitting next to it. "Are sure, cause it looks kinda bad." She said as she looked at the wound once more, noticing the faint red tent of the flesh around the cut as she dried her hands off. "Yeah, I mean, as long as I don't move or bend the wrong way." She said shrugging, watching Katie as she dug through the aid kit, pulling out the tube of antibiotic cream, squeezing a good size glob into her hand. "Just making sure." She said as she started rubbing the medicinal cream onto the opossum's chest. "I don't want you to end up in the ER again, cause that would put an end to this, and I'm sure at this point Amanda would put you in permanent lockdown." She said as she kept rubbing over Lilly's chest, getting little whimpers and mewls from the opossum as she hit sore spots. "I know, and don't worry, that's not going to happen." She said smiling as she watched Katie going back to the sink to clean her hands again before getting a roll of gauze. "You know, that's going to be something else that we need to get, bandages, and neosporin." She said softly as she returned to the opossum's side and carefully started bandaging her up, wrapping Lilly's flat chest with the soft white fabric. "You're keeping a running shopping list of the things that we need to steal, aren't you?" Lilly asked, shivering a bit. She didn't want to admit it but all of the attention to her chest was starting to turn her on, not to mention the fact that her thought kept turning to Cass, and the things that she would do the moment they got back together. "Don't say it like that." Katie said shaking her head as she finished patching her up, using the medical tape to hold the bandages in place. "Sorry." She said softly as she watched her going back to the sink and washing her hands one last time before cleaning up any signs that the two were there, scooping up and closing the aid kit before following Lilly back out to the main room. "Lets get some rest, we need to get back on the road as soon as it's light out." She said looking at the window at the end of the room, peering out into the darkness of the city. "Yeah." Katie said as she laid the two's backpacks out, setting them up as makeshift pillows, turning in time to see Lilly putting her shirt and jacket back on. The two didn't say anything as they laid down, resting their heads on their bags. Their minds both full of countless thoughts and worries. Lilly's mind full of the worry and fear that she had really drug Katie along, the fear that Cass might have moved on by now, the fear of getting caught and ending back in that hell hole called Jonestown. Katie's mind raced with it's own fears and worries, ones that she would never admit to having, but she was worried, almost jealous that Lilly had someone that she was so in love with that she was chasing her down, that she was risking everything to be with her, knowing that her lover was, or would be doing the same for her.

"Breath in deep." "A sea of desperate dreams." "I have no mouth." "And I must scream."

Cassidy had nothing. She had no one. Having moved in with her mother, living out each day was a trial within itself. Having begun to go school, she was hostile to everyone that had tried to help her. Counselors, teachers, her fellow students. It was only after a month or so when she saw a short, brown opossum that

a flash of red hair, a wide smile

she felt something something stir. Her name was Violet and

not Lilly

she was in Cassidy's math class. Having approached the porcupine for assistance one day, the opossum had seemed cowed by the spiney girl--yet in hushed tones and holding her most recent math quiz to her chest, grade hidden from view, she managed to eek out 'W-Will you help me with the last exam?"

Red eyes

Cassidy had never intended to talk to anyone. She had made an excellent job of ignoring anyone that had tried to help her, offered looks of pity-anything of the sort. Yet here this opossum had somehow managed to do what others had not. Elicit a response. And so she agreed, and so she helped.

And as the days blended by, so did the weeks. Talks of math turned to their past lives. And she could not talk about Lilly--would not. It was as if she--couldn't. Yet somehow, she was alright with this. The memories of a bright-eyed purple opossum began to slowly be replaced by a red-eyed one.

One day she woke up in a barren house. No--not empty. Barren. The walls had begun rotting, floor covered in a pulsating sort of goo--was that a soft glow emitting from it?--the door's handle bit her, causing her to cry out and jump back, turning to face her window.

The opossum of a lifetime ago--purple-eyed, red haired--stood, no--floated outside. An expression of one forlorn--so sad, her eyes--they were----so sad. Who was she? Violet? No, no.

No...

...no...

What is this--what IS this?

Her--her biggest fear. The one she would never acknowledge--the one she didn't even know she had.

She had forgotten. She--had moved on.

What she had thought impossible, what she had sworn never to do--had been done.

And she wept.

And she wept.

And she slept.

The porcupine jerked up in bed, shivering and holding onto herself as she came to the grateful realization that it was all just a dream, not a dream, a nightmare. It had been weeks since she had seen Lilly, or even had any communication with her. She had thought that she would have at least sent her a letter back, but she hadn't, and that worried her. It scared her to think that the one person that she loved, that she needed may have moved on. Though she would always do her best to logic the thought away, hoping that she had found a family and the act of her getting moved in and settled was keeping her from having time to write her back, or even saying to herself over and over that the letter had gotten lost in the mail. She wiped the tears from her cheeks and tossed her legs over the side of the bed. She walked over to the window, looking out at the dismal sight of the city. She hated it here. She hated it all, the school, the people, the small room that she was stuck in, the fact that her mother kept an ever watchful eye on her, but most of all she hated the fact that she didn't have her little slut here with her. With a sigh she made her way back to bed, forcing herself to try and go back to sleep, hoping to get a little rest without the worry of the nightmares.
