#4 of Grand Duel Academy

Hey, all! It's my third chapter of Grand Duel Academy! Here we get exposed to Hudson's deck for the first time, where he fights for the virtues of truth! A great duel awaits, where we see an amazing deck being used in a new and creative way. Have fun!

The sun rises on Academy Island, where the Grand Duel Academy was situated. The students were slowly getting up, getting set for the first day of classes. However, while most students were already up and getting their bags packed, there was one room where there were still snores. In this room, there were two duelists. One of them was a fun-loving Lopunny named Rose, laying in his bed on his back, snoring with a big open mouth. The other was a Gallade, Hudson, the male a bit of a hornball, hitting on girls every so often, but with a good heart. The alarms for both of them were going off, as Rose slowly woke up, groaning.

Rose: Uuuugh...what time is it....

Rose looked at the clock, smiling.

Rose; Ah, 9:24....AW CRAP!

Rose jumped up, the yell waking Hudson up, the Gallade growling.

Hudson: What is it...

Rose: It's only 5 minutes until class starts! Hudson: What?! Shit!

The two of them quickly change into their purple blazers and long pants, putting their belts and deck boxes on it, grabbing their bags and throwing their D-Pads in, Rose putting his classic KC Duel Disk in as well as they ran out, rushing out to class. They had to run through a long forest path, soon up to the massive building of the duel academy. They both ran up the stairs, running through the halls, vaulting over other students to get to class on time.

Rose: Sorry! Late for class!

The two of them bursted into the lecture hall, making it 10 seconds before the final bell. They panted, sighing. The only thing was that there were nearly no seats left. The only two were next to a Zorua girl. It seemed nobody else wanted to sit by the preteen, but Rose remembered her.

Rose; Hey, isn't that Shimmer? That Zorua we saw yesterday kick that guy's ass on the duel field? Hudson: Yeah, your eye candy. Rose: HUDSON! Shut up!

Rose blushes, Hudson chuckling as they headed over. The Zorua girl had on headphones, her feet on the desk as she sat back on the chair, her hoodie under her gold vest covering her head. They decided to just let her go, sitting on either side of her. The teacher comes to the front, as class begins. The class is relatively boring, all easy freshman things that they mostly knew already. After class, Shimmer got up, heading off. Rose followed her, Hudson, following him.

Rose: Hey, Shimmer.

She ignored him, still walking away, her hands tucked in her pockets. Rose slowly stopped going after her, sighing as Hudson caught up.

Hudson: Just forget about her. She's just a secluded little girl. Rose: I don't know about that. I just...ah, whatever. Come on, we gotta go to class.

Rose gave one last look behind before going to class.

The two of them had several more classes, before it was free period. The two decided to check out the free duel area, putting their D-Gazers on. They saw the many duels going around, Rose's eyes shimmering in awe.

Rose: Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoooosh! So many amazing cards! AH! There's Constellar Pleiades M7! And there's a Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon! Hudson: Whoa there, bunny boy. Calm yourself down.

Rose blushes, giggling. However, his joy was short lived as he heard something going on on the side. There was a group of shady-looking students, a mix of purple and blue, talking with another one, a young Growlithe boy. He seemed really happy as he traded a bunch of cards for just one. He smiled, going off. Rose and Hudson went to him, a bit concerned.

Rose; Hey, what was going on over there Growlithe: Oh! Hey there! I just got this super sweet card from those nice guys over there for only twenty super rares! A first edition Exodia the Forbidden One! Hudson: Let me see that.

The boy handed it to Hudson, the Gallade looking it over, growling.

Hudson: Those bastards....

Growlithe: Huh? What's wrong? Hudson: This isn't what you think it is.

He grabs the corner, picking at it.

Growlithe: H-Hey! Stop breaking my Exo-

However, he was cut off as the card front peeled off, revealing that it was nothing more than a common Haniwa.

Growlithe: W-what?! Hudson: This is a fake card. Just a simple sticker over the real thing underneath. Those bastards....

The boy started crying, Rose comforting him.

Rose: Hey, don't cry. I'll get you a really cool card, I promise. Growlithe; R..Really? Rose: I promise. Right after I deal with- Hudson: Go and help him. I got this. Rose: Huh? But...are you...

Hudson looked at Rose, a fire burning in his eyes. Rose could tell that he was serious.

Rose: ....Ok. I trust you, Hudson. Come on, let's go and get you that cool card! Growlithe: O-Ok....

Rose went off with the boy, as Hudson stormed over to them. The group was all the tough and rough species, as he goes up to the one that looked to be the leader, an Absol.

Hudson: Hey. Absol: What, you looking for some sweet cards? Hudson: No, I'm here about a sale you just made.

He held up the card, the sticker half off.

Hudson: You just sold this pathetic excuse of a fake to a little boy. Absol: So? It's just a fucking card. But the ones he gave us could get us some serious cash. Hudson: But stealing from a kid?! Have you no honor?! Absol: All that matters in today's world is power. And you get power by having money. Hudson: You're wrong. It's about the truth, and doing what's right. Absol: If you'd rather we settle this in the fun way....I'm all for it. Hudson: I'm guessing you mean a duel. Very well. If I win, then you stop this business and give back all the cards you've stolen from kids. Absol: And WHEN I win, you'll give me five hundred bucks, and 30 secret rares. Hudson: Deal.

They shake, going to a duel field. Hudson smirked, pulling out his custom disc. His disk was shaped like a large sword, with the entire blade going down his forearm, the handle by his elbow. The deck zone was at the front, where the tip of the blade was cut in to allow for it and the graveyard to be. The monster zones were all on the top edge, spell and traps going into slots on the side. The hilt had his life point counter, as well as a slot for a field spell to go into. He smirked, as his opponent activated his basic model disc. The duel started, as they prepped to do battle.

Hudson: Allow me to begin. I think I'll start by activating my field spell: the Magical Citadel of Endymion!

He places it, the area around them changes. It starts materializing into a grand palace, with many magic rings and jewels around them. The massive towers come up around them, as the stage has finally been set.

Absol: Hmph, fancy. Hudson: Thank you. Now I activate a spell card, Spell Power Grasp! This card allows me to add a spell counter to any card that can hold them. And the only one out right now is my Citadel!

Hudson starts glowing, as the energy comes from him, manifesting in a black orb with an upside down yellow triangle in it.

Hudson: Now my Citadel activates. Whenever any spell card is activated, it gains another spell counter. I then use the last effect of Spell Power Grasp, allowing me to add another one to my hand.

The orb comes out of Hudson yet again, as he adds the card to his hand.

Hudson: I'll then activate my spell card, Spellbook Library of the Crescent! This card may be a bit complicated for you, so let me go slow.

The Absol growls, as the card is placed.

Hudson: First off, I choose three different Spellbook cards and reveal them.

The three cards spit out of his deck. Spellbook of Power, Spellbook of Secrets, and Spellbook of Fate. The Absol looks them over, reading their effects before nodding.

Hudson: Now you randomly add one of the three into my hand.

He shuffles them, showing the backs to him. The Absol picks the middle one, as Hudson slips it in, the other going into his deck and shuffling. He glowed again as he got a third Spell Counter.

Hudson: Thanks. I activate Spellbook of Secrets, allowing me to add a Spellbook spell to my hand other than Secrets. I'll add....Spellbook of Eternity.

The card flies into his hand as he gets another counter.

Hudson: I then summon Spellbook Magician of Prophecy!

The young mage comes onto the field, as he was holding a large book.

Hudson: His effect activates, giving me a Spellbook spell again. And I'll go with Spellbook of Life! Absol: What's the use of having so many books? Hudson: You'll see. I set a card and. Absol: Finally. Now, since you control a monster and I don't, I special summon my Cyber Dragon! Hudson: Cyber Dragons. It just HAD to be Cyber Dragons...,.

Absol: I then summon out Cyber Dragon Core!

The two monsters appear. The first was a large mechanical beast, and the other an odd silver creature dripping with pink ooze.

Hudson: Gross. Absol: I use Core's effect, allowing me to add a Cyber spell or trap to my hand. And I'm going with Cyber Network. Now I activate my spell card, Machine Duplication, allowing me to special summon copies of any machine monster on my field with 500 or less ATK. And the only one I have out is Core!

The machines whirr around Core, and when it's done, three are on the field.

Absol: Oh, I forgot to mention. When Core is on the field or in my grave, it's treated as being named Cyber Dragon. I now activate Polymerization! I fuse together my three Cyber Dragon Cores, to create Cyber End Dragon!

The three monsters morph together, forming into the massive mechanized dragon.

Absol: I then set three cards facedown and end my turn.

Hudson draws, but the Absol stops him there.

Absol: Just a second. I'll now activate Cyber Network!

The trap activates, surrounding him with mechanical layouts on the ground.

Hudson: Hmph, science vs magic. Interesting. I now use Spell Power Grasp yet again.

He glows as two more orbs come out of him, and a third copy of the spell comes to his hand.

Hudson: Now I reveal the Spellbooks of Power, Life, and Secrets, to special summon my High Priestess of Prophecy!

The monster comes onto the field, the gorgeous priestess holding her staff.

Hudson: I can special summon her by revealing three different Spellbook spells from my hand. I then use her effect, banishing my Spellbook of Secrets from my graveyard, to destroy a card on your field, like Cyber End Dragon!

The priestess fires a wave of energy from her staff, causing Cyber End Dragon to spark and blow up.

Absol: Tch.... Hudson: I'll end there.

Absol: You'll pay for that....I use Cyber Network, banishing Cyber Dragon Drei from my deck. I now summon Cyber Dragon Drei! When it's summoned, I can change the level of all Cyber Dragons I control to level 5, including Drei! I now overlay Drei and Cyber Dragon to XYZ summon Cyber Dragon Nova!

The monsters become orbs of light, going into the swirling vortex. The massive mechanical dragon comes out, roaring a battlecry.

Absol: I activate Nova's effect. By detaching an Overlay Unit from it, I can special summon a Cyber Dragon from my graveyard.

The dragon swallows an orb, as the older dragon reappears on the field.

Absol: I then use its effect, banishing my dragon and adding 2100 to its ATK, giving it 4200 ATK! Nova, attack! Hudson: Sorry, but I activate Mirror Force! Absol: Too bad, I activate Dark Bribe! You draw a card, but your trap is negated!

The rainbow barrier around Hudson shatters, as Nova's blast slams into the Magician, Hudson grunting as he's blasted back by the ruthless attack, dropping his life points to 4300.

Absol: Had enough? Hudson: Are you kidding me? Absol: Cheeky little boy. I end my turn. Hudson: Alright...here goes!

He draws, smirking.

Hudson: Game's over. I start things off by activating Spellbook of Eternity, allowing me to add a banished spell card to my hand. And I only have Spellbook of Secrets. Now I use Spellbook of Secrets giving me Spellbook of Power to my hand. Then I use my third and final Spell Power Grasp to give me two more spell counters.

The orbs float out of him, two from the spell, and two from the other spells, giving him a grand total of ten.

Absol: What are those things good for anyway? Hudson: This. I'll let you know, it's because of you that I'll win. I activate the spell I drew from Dark Bribe; Mega Ton Magical Cannon!

The huge weapon comes to the field, the hatch on top opening up.

Hudson: This massive cannon takes ten spell counters to fully charge it. And I have just enough!

The ten fly into the machine. The cannon charges up, a massive ball of light forming.

Hudson: Now, all cards on your side of the field are destroyed! Absol: WHAT?!

The cannon fires, a massive explosion wiping out everything his opponent had on his field.

Hudson: Hmph. Liked that? Absol: You...are a fucking idiot! I use Cyber Dragon Nova's effect! I can now special summon a Machine-type Fusion Monster from my extra deck and ignore all of the rules for it. And I'm going with....THIS!

He places the card in his disc. Hudson expects Cyber End Dragon....but nothing could have prepared him for what he saw. Instead of the three-headed beast, he got a massive machine. It was a bright red, and MASSIVE, bigger than anything Hudson had seen before.

Hudson: W-What is that thing?! Absol: Say hello to my ultimate monster: Barbaroid: the Ultimate Battle Machine! He'll easily take anything you have down! Hudson: ...you idiot. I'm not even done yet. And I still have this. High Priestess, I banish the Spellbook of Fate from my hand to destroy Barbaroid!

The Priestess charges a massive orb of light in her rod, firing it and causing the machine to explode.

Absol: W...What....what just...happened.... Hudson: You're about to take a lot of damage. Priestess, attack!

The female mage fires, taking the Absol down to 5200.

Hudson: I set a card, and that's all from me. Absol: You'll pay....

He draws a card, then smirks...and laughs maniacally.

Absol: It's all over for you, bastard! Get ready to pay up, because I activate my Overload Fusion! I banish ALL the monsters in my graveyard, and special summon CHIMAERATECH OVERDRAGON!

The monsters all are removed from his graveyard, as a large hulking lump of electronics is on the field.

Absol: For every card removed it gains 800 attack points. And I removed 7, giving him a grand total of 5600 attack!

The system sprouts seven heads, all roaring.

Absol: You can't win, because I'm having Chimaeratech take down Priestess now! ATTAC

The seven heads all charge, firing a massive beam. Howver, Hudson just smirks.

Hudson: You dumbass. Absol: What?! Hudson: You forgot my facedown. I activate the final nail in your coffin, MAGIC CYLINDER! Absol: N-No, this can't be happening!

The two cylinders appear on the field, as one of them takes the attack right into it.

Hudson: No magic show is complete without the classic switcheroo. And this one allows me to deal the damage you would have hit me with right back to you! Fire!!

The second cylinder fires the blast right at the Absol, and a massive explosion ensues. When the smoke clears, the Absol's just standing there, mouth wide open as he collapses, life points dropping to zero. Hudson sighs, going up to him, holding out an arm.

Hudson: Good game. Absol: Tch, I don't need your pity... Hudson: Fine then. Now, go and give the cards you stole back. Absol: *muttering and swearing*

Hudson gets up, going off. Rose smiles, as he was watching from the side.

Rose: You showed him. Hudson: Thanks. Didn't think he'd fall for the Magic Cylinder though. But I did have a backup plan anyway. Rose: That's the Hudson I know. ???: Not bad.

Rose and Hudson turn to the voice, and it was Shimmer.

Shimmer: Not too bad, man. Hope we can duel later. You too, rabbit.

She goes off with a flick of her tail, Rose blushing as Hudson smirks, patting Rose's back.

Hudson: Alright, you got her attention! Rose: Heh...I guess so.....come on, let's go and get something to eat, I'm starving! Hudson: I couldn't agree more!

The two headed off, as Shimmer watched from a distance, smiling a bit before heading back to her own dorm.
